StillUpholding · 29/08/2021 15:23

Calling all fledglings, newbies and lurkers to the September FlyLady thread! Join us as we try to sometimes rather loosely follow FlyLady’s routines to steer us gradually towards clean and tidy homes and organised lives, with lots of nattering and support along the way.

The more the merrier, so please feel welcome to join. I’ll post daily links to try to keep us on track, and I’ll explain the system as we go if we have any newbies. If there’s anything you’re not sure about please ask. The website is here but be wary of signing up to the emails. There are lots.

Thanks to our lovely Sing for keeping us flapping through August, you did a grand job.

The naughty corner is fully stocked for anyone needing a little respite. I am already keeping it warm for everyone today and I’m not even sorry

Remember, you are never behind, just jump in where you are. Let’s do this Fledglings!

And on that note i should go make the phone calls i am procrastinating on.... Hmm

HillsBesideTheSea · 28/09/2021 14:52

As you all are clever people, you have probably realised that I have been floundering, a lot, for far longer than is even remotely healthy. So today I decided to make use of planning day and throw myself into the MåskeLife life compass principle. Educational, to say the least and some common themes kept jumping out. especially not prioritising my welfare in all the demands of my time to support others'. Feeling slightly less floundering but still not sure what direction to proceed in, but that might be because my hypersensitive hearing is playing up and every little noise in the house is driving me crazy right now. People living life are just so damn noisy for reference they aren't even being noisy, there is no tv, just people eating lunch and quietly moving about the house

So i am really now going to get a coffee and see about those phones calls I am STILL procrastinating about. Or maybe i will just stick another load of washing on.... HmmBlush

IWillWashTheGreenWillow · 28/09/2021 14:57

Aaagh, I feel your pain Hills. I am on here (and have just googled Makselife) to put off phoning the insurance company about cancelling the insurance on my Little Red Car, which is being scrapped tomorrow . She has to be, she's about to rust in half, and she is being replaced with another Little Red Car, but I still don't want to phone them and admit what I'm doing...

SingToTheSky · 28/09/2021 16:31

I am intrigued by this and will Google later. I’ve been sitting recovering from peopling since 3.15 (while doing a bit of maths with DS who in hindsight was probably a bit peopled out too) and need to leave for piano in about 15 minutes. After that I am pretty determined to do absolutely fuck all for the rest of the day.

HillsBesideTheSea · 28/09/2021 18:02

Make phone calls - go around in circles cos apparently no one deals with this
send out a round of emails to have confirmation no one deals with this.
Leave feedback being politely frustrated.
go make bacon sandwiches for tea

Dancingtomusic · 28/09/2021 18:13

Sing- its good to stop and have a break from everything.

Wellies- sorry to hear the deputy head had shouted at your dd - they are so stupid sometimes. Hope your dd is ok. I dont think mums stop worrying so dont worry.

Hills- hope you got to do the stuff you needed to do.

I read a few of the threads on mn when I cant sleep. The one where the op expected ppl to get on a bus! I worked 50miles from home. It would have taken me 4 hours to get to work on busesand trains (shakes head.)
I only learnt about women losing the label 'woman' recently. I am appalled and very worried for my daughter.

Ta das
☕put away 2 loads of washing
☕pick up junk from floor
☕pack batch cooking into freezer bags
☕wash pots
☕cook macncheese for kids
☕attend 2 parents evenings
☕fed kids
☕take kids to club
☕sit in car and pray the fumes carry us home! 😬😆

Oh and berate myself on my appalling cooking skills- i tried to cook 3 different curries and sloshed a few drops 'green chilli sauce' in from a bottle.
The food looks amazing - ds tries it- mummy its too hot- i think no its cant be that hot.
Yes it is.
Well, lets just say...i have burning, pain when i move. 🤣
Note to self - harbenaro green chilli are a disaster for me. Must avoid. 🤣

EssentiallyDisorganised · 28/09/2021 18:24

Dancing - I agree, but more and more women are realising and starting to speak out.

MrsTidyHouse · 28/09/2021 18:46

Sorry for not being here; it's been a weird month of stagnating Fly-wise. LB had day surgery for dental work, and I couldn't get myself to do anything until it was over. LG and I had a lovely calm week together while LB and MrTidyHouse self-isolated at his M-F works digs. We are back to "normal" now.

Am I crazy for absolutely hating the Accelerated Reader program that LG's school is using? She has gone from reading independently, albeit slowly, for about twenty minutes before lights out, to trying to read faster even though it spoiled the story for her, to abandoning the book altogether even though she initially described it as interesting and liking being in the world of the characters. Now she is being given Quick-Read books so that she can read one each period and get points for her house. She actually took a whole week, and there were no laptops for her to do the quiz.

So we're going to spend a wee while together each evening, sorting out which of our own books she would like to read at home, at a pace that suits her.

Sorry for being ranty, and for not catching up with everyone's posts.

IWillWashTheGreenWillow · 28/09/2021 19:43

Have you got any yoghurt or cream you could calm it down with, Dancing? You've done loads, don't wear yourself out.

Hills sorry everyone is standing in a circle pointing at each other. Most frustrating.

Sing hope you are doing nothing now, with style and aplomb.

I have:
❤️ Done 2 x LOL, washed and dried and put away
🧡 Put away yesterday's 2 x LOL and the day before's LOL
💛 Spoken to insurance company A
💚 Spoken to insurance company B
💙 Spoken to my health insurance GP about a referral for cardiology advice. They will ring me "within 48 hours". I'll believe it when I see it.
💜 Tidied the kitchen
❤️ Paid a bill
🧡 Explained the credit card bill to DH
💛 Done a bit of accidental research for my uncle - we have found his great-uncle was a graduate of KCL at the end of the 19th century and may also have Run Off And Left Debts!
💚 Wasted hours on MN and Twitter because I can't concentrate on anything for more than 20 minutes. I think I'm going to have to extend my sick leave.
💙 Walked the dog!
💜 Cooked dinner, cleared up, put DW on, wiped kitchen

I am pooped. Going to try a little embroidery then have a bath.

IWillWashTheGreenWillow · 28/09/2021 19:44

MrsTidy you are not crazy to hate that, it sounds pike a guaranteed way to ruin reading for a child.

SingToTheSky · 28/09/2021 19:51

I’m not sure I’ve ever done anything - not even “nothing” with style and aplomb willow 🤣

MrsT nice to see you, sorry about the tricky time 💐

Glad I got through the day. Man that was tiring and I have an early (by my standards anyway) start tomorrow.

I was going to make another power of three list but I CBA so I’m just writing this to hold myself accountable - I am now going to reply to some more admin type emails

HillsBesideTheSea · 28/09/2021 20:35

That reading program sounds super super shit.

EssentiallyDisorganised · 28/09/2021 21:14

Well, I don't seem to have posted much the last couple of weeks. I am feeling more adjusted back into termtime mode now and getting back into routines. Kitchen is a joy to clean and tidy compared to the old one, I'm trying to declutter the dining room which was used as a dumping ground while the kitchen was being done.

YupIHave · 28/09/2021 22:54

MrsTidy. I think my blood pressure would sky rocket with that reading program. What happened to reading for pleasure? Glad to hear you are putting sanity back in for DD.

Dancing It's pretty dire what's happening but it's wonderful that MN is helping us to become more aware. Well, MN and the Labour Party at the moment.

Breathe in. Breathe out. Ahhh. I can only take so much of it before I retreat back here.

Ta-da
5 minute tidy in living area
Washing up
Work
Dried coats, handbag, backpack on heated airer after we got soaked through
Everything ready for work tomorrow
Remembered to set Boosty off in bedroom this morning.

YupIHave · 28/09/2021 22:54

🍒👋🏼 to everyone.

THATmamaofMANY · 29/09/2021 06:05

Tidy the reading thing sounds nuts, whats the actual point in making them rush?

Did anyone hear from zoo?

I have been up since 4.30 thanks to the lovely THATbaby 😔

EssentiallyDisorganised · 29/09/2021 06:11

Oh dear That, hope you manage to get a bit of rest today.

Well the weather forecast is better for today, so I'm going to get up in a minute and out some washing on as rain is forecast tomorrow again.

THATmamaofMANY · 29/09/2021 06:23

I have rain forecast until 11, when it turns to hail 🙄

Its chilly this morning but i am still avoiding putting on the heating!

HillsBesideTheSea · 29/09/2021 07:18

I woke up every hour with anxiety dreams.
Stressed.

Blooming heck That we don't have hail yet. Just rain and cold.
I hope you manage to get some sleep/nap time today.

THATmamaofMANY · 29/09/2021 07:22

Just had about 20 mins on the sofa before i had to wake ds1 and 2. Tired!

Dancingtomusic · 29/09/2021 07:35

That- oh no, 4.30am - sending you strong coffee with lots of sugar in Brew. Hope you get to nap today.

I dont like the idea of speed reading. Is it a race? 🙄

Morning everyone. Survived parents evening and then I told both teachers about the bullying situation going on with Ds and Dd with the same kids. One teacher was great. The other teacher nearly lost the will to live when I mentioned it. Sigh.

Right, you all have reminded me to check the weather forcast. (Pls dont be rain. Pls dont be rain.)

halfhope · 29/09/2021 07:52

Morning - I think this thread is filling fast. Should we move straight to October now?

halfhope · 29/09/2021 07:53

According to the web version we are at the end of the thread.

HillsBesideTheSea · 29/09/2021 08:19
