StillUpholding · 29/08/2021 15:23

Calling all fledglings, newbies and lurkers to the September FlyLady thread! Join us as we try to sometimes rather loosely follow FlyLady’s routines to steer us gradually towards clean and tidy homes and organised lives, with lots of nattering and support along the way.

The more the merrier, so please feel welcome to join. I’ll post daily links to try to keep us on track, and I’ll explain the system as we go if we have any newbies. If there’s anything you’re not sure about please ask. The website is here but be wary of signing up to the emails. There are lots.

Thanks to our lovely Sing for keeping us flapping through August, you did a grand job.

The naughty corner is fully stocked for anyone needing a little respite. I am already keeping it warm for everyone today and I’m not even sorry

Remember, you are never behind, just jump in where you are. Let’s do this Fledglings!

To have a cup/ glass of something and at least 15 mins rest.

Mc3209 · 26/09/2021 21:29

I am resurfacing. Been doing bits and bobs in the background, but fell off the zones wagon.
McTiny is under the weather for past few days, so I've been doing a lot of sofa sitting watching telly.
That I am tired just reading your list!

Ta Das:
🎉All fishtanks sorted
🎉Indoor plants watered
🎉LOL X2. I put the first load in the dryer, but forgot to press the start button... Will have 2 soggy loads tomorrow.
🎉Quick hoover around
🎉Bleached the entrance hall (it tends to grow mould on the walls when it's not summer 🤢)
🎉Cleared few hotspots around living room

TheHoneyBadger · 26/09/2021 21:34

Well done THAT and Mc.

I just went to the toilet and realised and appreciated that just for tonight my laundry basket is completely empty!

halfhope · 26/09/2021 22:27

Spent all day going through family finances getting better deals on bills, tarriffs etc. DH and I are exhausted comparing stuff. Cancelled some subs and cut back where we could.

I woke this morning with a list which stalled at no 1 which was sort family finances. Start again tomorrow. How is it October next week? 😳

halfhope · 26/09/2021 22:30

Hills hope day went better and people stopped being so peoplely.

MC - the poor little lamb. Hope he's better.

As far as I'm aware Willow is well dancing - she's probably under some paperwork somewhere or perhaps under WillowHound.

halfhope · 26/09/2021 22:31

that what a list - faints!

HillsBesideTheSea · 26/09/2021 22:37

i have clothes in my clothes storage. a mountain of paperwork on the floor. and found a way to get a new scrappy crochet blanket started without starting with a foundation chain but by a knitted cast on.

Using up scraps of wool so not stored - totally productive.

THATmamaofMANY · 26/09/2021 23:56

Famousfrays · 27/09/2021 00:47

I have nothing to report back to you all as we went to DM’s for Sunday roast so didn’t have anything to do back home. I have created a sort of diary though, inspired by up’s.

red I hope your DS1 feels better. Homemade soup is my favourite when I’m poorly.

hazel if it becomes a yearly thing you should 100% implement some sort of cleaning rota so you aren’t left to do it all.

up we’re just about ready I think. We only finalised names tonight so that was quite last minute. We need to set up the crib too but other than that I think we’re about done. I’m going to batch cook some meals and freeze them and also make myself some ice packs for after the birth. Congratulations on your 2nd DC, do you know what you’re having?.

that I bet it’s so worth it though!. My gran is one of 8 and she loves having so many brothers and sisters. Family get together are manic though😂.

dancing I always find I’m better when I have a planner or something I have to hold myself too so I’m hoping to actually stick to this one. My last planner is buried under a pile of dust somewhere🤦🏻‍♀️.

sing flare ups are so shit especially when you do everything you can think of to help and it still doesn’t work. Take it easy💕

honey have an extra beer for me please. I’ve been dying for one over the summer. I cannot wait to get this baby out of me so I can have one (and obviously to meet my precious child of course😂).

mc oh no I hope your little one feels better soon. Lots of poorly snuggles will make things better!.

I can’t sleep for love nor money so I’m in the living room catching up on Vigil. The weathers gone quite bad. I haven’t heard wind like it for a while.

StillUpholding · 27/09/2021 01:19

Urgh I’m awake with heartburn.

That I’m amazed by your list!

Honey you sound quite on top of things at home and work already. You have a plan!

Are the people any good at moving/building furniture Hills? Or entertaining small DC? I’ll take them off your hands for a few days in a few weeks if they’d like a ‘holiday’ up north?

Hope McBaby is feeling better soon Mc

It’s hard work comparing tariffs etc Hope. I did mine a few weeks ago and managed to get a
fixed rate that wasn’t a huge increase before everything kicked off, although when I’ve actually looked at it properly this morning it’s still going to be an increase of £50+ over the winter months Sad. I’ve ordered some draft excluders… Hope you had better luck than me!

It’s another girl Famous, which has kept DD very happy.

Ah sorry you seem to be in flare up Sing Flowers

I did most of my to do list today. Measuring up is done and we’ve finally agreed on, and ordered, new furniture. It’s arriving a bit earlier than we want it but there was so much out of stock or with really long lead times I panicked Grin.

I’ll do links now since I’m awake and it’s officially Monday. Somehow we are back to the home bleurgh already (how!?). We move into zone 5 for Monday-Thursday then a token day in zone 1 on Friday. Today’s mission is to put out living room hot spots. Launchpad.

I’ll keep an eye on the thread as we are filling up and I’m happy to start a new one for the last few days if need be. Any volunteers to take on October though?

DoesHePlayTheFiddle · 27/09/2021 05:41

Ah, good morning. You're all an inspiration!

I've been a bit low in spirit because of my stupidity with the hot tray, but it hasn't stopped me cracking on with a few fifteen minute sessions. Dad's house is immaculate and mine is improving - only one job to do upstairs before the Big Scrub. Downstairs, the kitchen and hall are ready, and last night I used the time I had before watching 'Vigil' to clean the bannister. The living room does look like somewhere in need of renovation, but it's pretty well organised. Some decluttering next weekend perhaps.

This week I'm cat-sitting away from home, in a million-pound period property. I am hoping it all survives intact. I'll be keeping a lot of rooms closed off, for their own safety. But, I packed my bags yesterday afternoon (one with bathroom stuff, one with bedroom stuff, makes life easier), and was proud of myself for that. When I leave this bed and put some clothes on, I'll finish stripping it (pillowcases are off, pillows stacked) before I go downstairs.
Have a great week, everyone. I'll be looking in, even if I can't get a lot done myself.

THATmamaofMANY · 27/09/2021 06:13

Morning all. 5ish hours of sleep as baby didn't wake until 530. He probably would have gone back to sleep for an hour or so after his milk but as expected woke the toddler who i had to bring down to avoid waking the four year old! So we are up for the day!

Fiddle house sitting a big posh house sounds almost holiday-like

Up i managed to switch our G&E tarif and only ended up with a £30 pcm increase. Will be being extra careful with heating etc though i think. We can't get a smart meter here unfortunately which is a PITA. Draft excluders is a good idea.

Brew
halfhope · 27/09/2021 06:22

fiddle as a student I was a cat sitter for two wealthy Siamese cats called Rosie and Elliott. I had to read them the Irish Times (I'm not joking)

THATmamaofMANY · 27/09/2021 06:29

Did you actually do it hope? Some people are actually nuts arent they

HillsBesideTheSea · 27/09/2021 07:04

I can do October, but might have dodgey internet for the first few days if I do manage to get away. The whole petrol situation is a bit iffy for the planned trip so watching and waiting on the hotel thing. Might be worth just decamping to an October thread a few days early.

Good morning.
Woke up cold this morning. Not sure what temp it was but it felt cold. It is raining buckets outside this morning. Working outside in this is not something i am going to miss, working outside on a nice day I know i will miss.

That one hell of a list there ma dear.

Ta da
put on a load of washing
beat the owl
discover only put half the load into the washing machine Hmm

I should be up and doing, i am seriously considering a quick nap. I really do like to hermit during the colder months.

THATmamaofMANY · 27/09/2021 07:16

SingToTheSky · 27/09/2021 08:46

Morning everyone

I want a cat to read the paper to! 🥺

Sleepy today. Very rainy here too and I’m grateful not to be doing the nursery run!

po3.1
❗️Dressed/meds/breakfast
❗️Get DS to do some work - I’ve not actually printed his targets out yet but he can still get on with maths or something
❗️Finish chapter of kindle book

TheHoneyBadger · 27/09/2021 09:05

Yes rainy here too and very windy. Have all the upstairs windows open at the minute and am kind of enjoying the air for now.

Ds not very well and having day off and I have a couple of hours before I have to leave for work. Currently procrastinating about having a shower and washing all this coconut oil out of my hair.

DoesHePlayTheFiddle · 27/09/2021 09:47

@halfhope

fiddle as a student I was a cat sitter for two wealthy Siamese cats called Rosie and Elliott. I had to read them the Irish Times (I'm not joking)
That's my idea of heaven!
DoesHePlayTheFiddle · 27/09/2021 09:49

mama yes, it is like a holiday. I think of it as a retreat. I'm taking all my admin and my meditation stuff.

SingToTheSky · 27/09/2021 10:43

Hope DS feels better soon honey

Maths and chemistry done for today, DH read to him as well.

po3.2
❗️Help DH with some computer stuff
❗️Hang laundry out and put dryer on again if needed
❗️Sort a few bits - colouring stuff in box, rubbish, picture books etc. Mainly in boodwa I guess.

SingToTheSky · 27/09/2021 10:57

That I meant to say well done for your epic list yesterday! Are you going to be taking your English GCSE now that maths is done? I did a mature student one year course for that (I left school in year 10 and only took a few subjects in year 11, and took the one year English GCSE course at college in year 12) and enjoyed it.

Nice to see you mc sorry baby is poorly though. How are things with DH now?

Ugh, headache has appeared rather suddenly. Think I’ll just chill after my current list is done.

THATmamaofMANY · 27/09/2021 11:10

Sing i have applied to do the English yes but am waiting for them to confirm i can do it online without attending classes in person!

Ty all for the list praise!

If anyone is looking for matching kids / family pjs then asda have some fairisle ones online in red and navy, i managed to get all the sizes i needed. Feel like i won something Grin
