Calling all fledglings, newbies and lurkers to the September FlyLady thread! Join us as we try to sometimes rather loosely follow FlyLady’s routines to steer us gradually towards clean and tidy homes and organised lives, with lots of nattering and support along the way.

The more the merrier, so please feel welcome to join. I’ll post daily links to try to keep us on track, and I’ll explain the system as we go if we have any newbies. If there’s anything you’re not sure about please ask. The website is here but be wary of signing up to the emails. There are lots.

It's been a tough few days. DP had been away for most of the week on his caring duties. Work has been tough. DS has had a few wobbly times but has been super though, trying hard to be more independent. Embarrassingly I had a cry on my birthday because it had been such a shit day and he was so sweet to me. ❤️ It made me want to boo all over again.

DP came back last night with a bunch of flowers. That was nice. I suggested DS should give me the flowers as it's tradition for DS to give me flowers for my birthday. When DP asked him give me the flowers, DS was in his room getting changed and had just taken his trousers off. He said, "I think I need to be dressed more formal for this." 😂

Anyway, DP let me have a lie in, sorted DS, made me breakfast in bed, took DS to school and is taken me out for lunch today. He is going back tomorrow.

Afternoon. Almost. Home from the doctors - arm kept bleeding so had to stay a bit longer 🤣 I was obviously being generous today. Quick stop in the pub for a quiet breakfast then got the bus home.

Does Hirondelle still exist? No idea what it's like but Punch used to run a set of adverts with delightful little pictures of impossible things (pigs with wings etc) and the tagline "it's about as likely as a duff bottle of Hirondelle".

Hey, I have an Archibald McDonald! He worked for the Prince of Wales and married my 4th cousin twice removed who was the Princess's dresser according to family lore (their highnesses were visiting St Petersburg at the time of the relevant census so I haven't been able to verify this).

Of course, great-grandfather Robert has reminded me that everyone in Scotland had the same name... (I mean, honestly, how many Euphemia McGregors are there?)

Twenty two years tomorrow, merryhouse. We are having a comedy retro dinner because a) we like it and b) it represents the height of sophistication from when we were about 8 and such things seemed important 😂.

My Archibald McDonald was a boilermaker in Cambusnethan like about 25,000 other Archibald McDonalds with a checkered marital history and a second wife (my great-great grandmother) that no-one seems to acknowledge. Possibly due to the lack of an actual marriage.

💜 Telephoned the ward I was on and have been granted to leave to stop the medication no-one can fathom why I was on in the first place.

🤎 Made healthful chicken soup for lunch

DS3 is about to make bacon and eggs for us.

Do you accept complete newbies? I’ve never tried The FlyLady before. I did try TOMM but that didn’t work for our family im hoping to have better luck this time with this method

Hi Famous, the more the merrier! Just jump in. Any questions just ask. I’ve personally found I’ve had to adapt FlyLady a little bit so it fits in with work days etc, but once I found my own routine it definitely made a difference.

I had bit of a quiet day at work for a change, got lots of admin type things done which was useful. Not much in the way of actual flying other than staying on top of the basics but hey ho. Very happy it’s Friday!

Thank you lovely people. My DH is taking the DC out tomorrow so I have the house to myself and I will take some time to adapt it to our routine. I need to get my arse into gear!

How old are the dc famous?

Average night sleep here (11-4, then 5-730) toddler is still in bed turns out he isn't very well (d&v) which is clearly why he has been such a grump. Baby is also still in bed so i can just sit with a brew while dc3&4 watch tv

Horrific night's sleep. Woke up at 3am couldn't go back to sleep for a good while. Sooo tired. migraine is threatening. Stress dreams at overwhelming level.

But have not managed to get stuff done around the house this week so it needs to happen today. I would love to say that i am following fly lady but right now I am following the burn and bust approach.

Welcome Famous stick with it as it takes a while but it does work. We do ignore a few things like “Get dresses to shoes “ we agree slippers, bare feet, flats etc will do.

I spent yesterday doing a slow 27 fling. Went through my aunt’s paperwork box and have it in a sealed smaller box. I will pass some things to my sisters at some stage. Plan to carry on with boudoir and I have a pile of ironing to do.

Struggling here. My underarm infection is back so I took the doxy antibiotes. My blurry vision is back and feelings of dizzy. Desparate to dejunk sittingroom but eyes feeling odd.
