Calling all fledglings, newbies and lurkers to the September FlyLady thread! Join us as we try to sometimes rather loosely follow FlyLady’s routines to steer us gradually towards clean and tidy homes and organised lives, with lots of nattering and support along the way.

The more the merrier, so please feel welcome to join. I’ll post daily links to try to keep us on track, and I’ll explain the system as we go if we have any newbies. If there’s anything you’re not sure about please ask. The website is here but be wary of signing up to the emails. There are lots.

Thanks to our lovely Sing for keeping us flapping through August, you did a grand job.

The naughty corner is fully stocked for anyone needing a little respite. I am already keeping it warm for everyone today and I’m not even sorry

Remember, you are never behind, just jump in where you are. Let’s do this Fledglings!

DS and lil zoo have returned
DS has just tipped literally half a carrier bag of sand from his shoes onto the porch...how?!Confused

THATmamaofMANY · 29/08/2021 19:38

I must say lilzoo looks way more angelic than i imagined.

Stilllivinginazoo · 29/08/2021 20:04

That face can get away with all but murder!!that

Stilllivinginazoo · 29/08/2021 20:07

I also should add as dd1 HUSBANDGrin has fair few elderly and CV relatives there people were asked to do a lateral flow before hand and there were ribbons with green or red to pin on to show whether wanted be hugged or not,so felt relatively "safe" having masses hugging me

IWillWashTheGreenWillow · 29/08/2021 21:14

Oh that's a really good idea, zoo, so no-one had to be embarrassed saying "please stay back". I saw something similar on fb today from a friend whose church issued red / amber / green badges. Think they could have longevity in wider society.

Arf at "kiss for DD not her Dad". Pleased you can be in the same space and agree to share grandchildren!

You must be v. proud of the zoolets for managing the day. Hope the Son In Law lives up to the expectations of his awesome MIL ❤️.

Funny afternoon here of the world's dullest Grand Prix (and that's going some), while I did some embroidery, and then roast dinner and profiteroles with DS2 and GF. Was lovely to see them.

Have now had too much a couple of glasses of wine and am retiring to bed with a very achy foot and no chance of any codeine because I've had a drink. Bugger.

Mc3209 · 29/08/2021 21:21

Zoo what a beautiful wedding! 🥰 The bride is so elegant, and zoolets look very pretty. You must be so very proud!
Sing thank you for August, and Up thanks for taking on September.
Hazel to answer your question from previous thread, due to the specifics of my field, I am prepping interview strategies to show that I can do the job. I am expecting tough questions, provided I get to the interviews in the first place.

I managed to conquer my to do list which included some home bleugh, fish tank tinkering, plant pruning, white fly fighting, talk writing, baby wrangling, baby proofing, meal planning..the lot. 🥵

Now in bed, baby is almost asleep, time to scroll MN.

TheHoneyBadger · 30/08/2021 00:42

So pleased it all went well Zoo - lovely pics.

Jealous of those talking of sunshine as I haven't seen any for ages.

I did little other than laundry today and putting together ds's wardrobe type thing with him and having some quality time.

Thanks for the well dones etc. With this week being living room hopefully I can get that pretty much fully sorted and then every room in the house is 'not too bad' and if I can keep up with the zones and swish and swiping and laundry maybe I can actually keep it that way or even improve on it? Shock

Willow sounds like you're doing well in your recovery and had a good day - hope dinner for 6 was nice.

Yay for another woman being able to get through to a dd that she deserves better - it sometimes takes someone else saying it.

Sorry - doing bad at personals - the split between two threads has thrown me more than usual even.

I'm feeling quite content today. I've been meditating every day for ten days now and making progress on the house and whilst I haven't lost weight this month with all the birthdays and occasions there have been I have managed to maintain and having sorted the tree and hedges out front has been a weight off that I didn't even know was stressing me.

Back to work in a couple of days and hopefully a good rest and a more functional home will help to make that manageable.

HazelNuttyElf · 30/08/2021 06:09

mc good luck! I really hope it works out for you
honey progress is progress and it definitely sounds like it's going in the right direction.

We watched a movie as a family tonight. I have a load of dishes on my countertop instead of in the DW, but we got to spend time together. I did get grocery shopping done, with DH and DD, while DS stayed home with a friend. The shed is also fully painted now and weatherproof. I also had to wash the dogs bedding from her kennel and the blankets on the couch that she sits on as I could smell that she'd peed in her kennel at some point this week. DD gave her a bath.
I've drank a little too much margarita tonight but now need to sleep as I have work in the morning.
Night everyone 🌙

HazelNuttyElf · 30/08/2021 06:11

willow I still would've taken the codeine, but I know it's not recommended. You didn't drink enough to make it numb... 🤣
Okay I need to sleep, I'm not thinking straight anymore.

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/08/2021 06:23

willowon new son in law has long track record of having her back always

Morning zoo. The in-laws sound lovely. Must be nice to know she has all that extra support around her.

I’ve got to drag ds around to an awake in the daytime cycle too 🙈

I’m not moving yet but when I do it will be:

Lol
Dog walk
Load dw

StillUpholding · 30/08/2021 08:27

I love a good wedding and as I haven’t been to one for so long I am living vicariously through your posts and photos Zoo. It sounds like such a perfect day, and you, the Zoolets and of course the beautiful bride all look lovely and so happy Smile. The menu has my mouth watering. Good luck on the week of early starts. Your son in law sounds lovely.

Ooh I’ll check that out Hills, thanks. It ways indeed me that needed ideas. I went for some various perennials in the end that I was assured are easy to care for and will survive the exposed spot. There are some calla lillies which have been gorgeous all summer and I’m hoping do come back, and I can’t for the life of me remember what the others are, but they’ve done well too. Definitely need some more ideas for next year though.

Hazel as I was starting the September thread I though “ooh Hazel will be putting her autumn decorations up soon” Grin

Daily focus is Home Bleurgh. For once I’ll actually do mine today as I’m not at work. Details are here for any newbies.

Woken in the night by Cagletini as she wet the bed, and I already had DD1 in with me. She’s still struggling to sleep alone in her room :( DS managed not to wake us up till half 7, he always has either a transformer or Lego to build on his own first thing. He’s now happily building his main present and I’ve been doing activity sheets with Cagletini (she’s on a spot the difference kick at the moment).

HillsBesideTheSea · 30/08/2021 09:48

Glad you had such a lovely time Zoo you sound more relaxed which is nice to hear.

I have already spent an hour swearing about the fuckers that live in the house. It is a getting shit done kinda day around here so there may be a long list. Atm i am trying to figure out the pantry area so everything fits and people can see what they need because if they can't see it, it doesn't exist. After spending an hour on it, i figured clothes might be a good idea. Hmm

IWillWashTheGreenWillow · 30/08/2021 09:57

Happy Birthday MasterSing! Glad he let you sleep a bit, but sorry to hear of other sleep issues.

Zoo so lovely that your SIL absolutely has DD's back and his family sound great. Sorry Lilzoo only wants someone else's stuff. Is she marking territory / trying to prove she is important too, do you think?

Oooh, That you've just reminded me I bought an autumn wreath last year that can go up soon. Hooray, I love that one. I shall send DH up into the barn for it.

No plans for today at all, except helping DS3 pack for his seaside adventure tomorrow.

GoingGoingGoth · 30/08/2021 10:10

I seem to have ended up lying on the bed for a while. Still catching up on the end of the August thread! Must get going again now though… I’m hungry.

po3.1
❗️Eat and drink something
❗️Put Cagletini’s duvet in to wash and put previous wash in dryer
❗️See what the plan is today and start thinking about tomorrow - feeling a bit guilty we are all so shattered from the last few days, it’s a good thing DS is happy building his Lego really

Redsquirrel5 · 30/08/2021 11:36

Morning,
Love photo of the cakecat.

Sorry lilzoo is pushing boundaries already Zoo just put your mind back to the lovely day you had. I also thought brilliant idea about the ribbons. Family sound like they have similar ideas to yours so that should work and he sounds very caring.DD has been with her bf/DP similar age and still together 13/14 years later.

Honey the main thing is you have broken the back of it so just keep chipping away. I try and keep those areas completed clean and tidy while chipping away at the rest. Of course sometimes you need to go back in I noticed pan drawers need cleaning out yesterday. DH would rarely think of doing that and certainly never known him to do pan drawers. I might suggest he helps me this week otherwise I plan one a day.

Happy Birthday 🥳 shh! Master Sing 🙁🎂
Mine used to love Lego too. I used to as well and it was one of the few times my dad ever played with us. It is up the loft now and my sisters have the rest.

Hillssorry you are getting aggro. I do find I clean well when aggravated but keep away from the crystal and China.

Mog annoying about curtains have they got a good hem? Could you put them on a higher hook or are they the modern ring ones? Sorry if obvious to you but it isn’t always to some people.

That kind of babythat to give you a bank holiday lie in.

Willow take it easy as the minute you appear to be doing stuff they will take it that you are better and can manage everything. A few oohs and ahhhghs won’t go amiss.

I have been watching the dressage and the 🏀 basketball which was very exciting.

Going to start on home bleugh.

Sitting room I have a tray with stuff that needs putting away. It has sat there for over a week. Otherwise it is quite tidy just need a vacuum and a dust. I did the sofa dive last week and as there are no kids or animals here I can get away with a fortnight. I usually find crumbs and a few pens.

Right home 😝
