Calling all fledglings, newbies and lurkers to the September FlyLady thread! Join us as we try to sometimes rather loosely follow FlyLady’s routines to steer us gradually towards clean and tidy homes and organised lives, with lots of nattering and support along the way.

The more the merrier, so please feel welcome to join. I’ll post daily links to try to keep us on track, and I’ll explain the system as we go if we have any newbies. If there’s anything you’re not sure about please ask. The website is here but be wary of signing up to the emails. There are lots.

Thanks to our lovely Sing for keeping us flapping through August, you did a grand job.

The naughty corner is fully stocked for anyone needing a little respite. I am already keeping it warm for everyone today and I’m not even sorry

Remember, you are never behind, just jump in where you are. Let’s do this Fledglings!

Still you are having a very productive day!

I need to catch up here!
I've brought dd1&2 to their swimming lesson, picked up some groceries, made a half hearted attempt at tidying up last nights dishes Blush in the kitchen and have gotten ds down for his nap. Now the dds are famishes so...

Po3:
Make lunch (omelette)
Look after hens
Tidy up in kitchen

Castlelough · 25/09/2021 12:50

*famished Blush

SingToTheSky · 25/09/2021 15:04

Holy unmotivated mumsnetter Batman!

Must. Move. 😑😬

po3.2
❗️Move laundry on and put new LOL in
❗️Book tesco slot and get to minimum spend (got lots on a shopping list already)
❗️Read a bit

HillsBesideTheSea · 25/09/2021 17:45

I hear you sing

tad da
beat owl
got up
started turfing out drawers
get side tracked and cake up some yarn
get side tracked some more and choose a pattern
decide ice cream is the answer and run some errands
come back to omg what the hell happened ffs onyl to remember i was supposed to be sorting things through before i got side tracked.

Right now i just want to cast on the things but i do need to clear my bed otherwise i wont have a bed to sleep in.

SingToTheSky · 25/09/2021 18:02

That was me on Thursday hills and I didn’t even remotely sort anything just shoved it back on zoom background shelves/floor etc 😳

Annoyingly Cagletini climbed into her bed a while ago, announced she was having a little rest and promptly dozed off. The first full week back at nursery has taken it out of her somewhat. Need to wake her soon enough that she doesn’t stay awake all night but also doesn’t get insanely grumpy… 😬 will just have to do bath and stories a bit late.

Ice cream is ALWAYS the answer.

po3.3
❗️Gather some recycling
❗️Finish a short online course and do sign off stuff on another one
❗️Quick diary check and messages related to schedule

TheHoneyBadger · 25/09/2021 18:42

Glad ds1 is doing ok Red.

Went to gym, did laundry, folded dry laundry, hung out wet laundry, brought an armful up and put it away - plenty still down there to be put away and I think I could do another small load tomorrow to clear the decks.

Might achieve putting another armful away and making ds do the same tonight but doubt I'll achieve much more. Pretty knackered from going to the gym for the first time in ages and working quite hard.

po3
-Put a bit more laundry away
-Take the dog out
-Feed dog and cat

I'm aiming low.

Famousfrays · 25/09/2021 21:54

I’ve drafted my alterations to the zones and missions etc. Do any of you have a planner or notebook you use to write it down or a checklist?.
that they’re just gone 3, 1 and I’m about to pop any day now with our third. Awh your poor little one hopefully he feels better soon the poor mite.
red bare feet is all that will do here. Especially for the DCGrin

THATmamaofMANY · 25/09/2021 22:11

You are busy then famous! We have 6 dc (13, 12, 8, 4, 2 and nearly 3 months)

Has anyone heard from zoo?

Famousfrays · 25/09/2021 22:48

Wow I thought I was busy with 2DC, a dog and a cat. I bet there’s never a dull moment in your houseGrin
Redsquirrel5 · 26/09/2021 01:59

YeapThatis our 🌟mum.

Another thread baby yeah!

I have been sorting more paperwork. Some school stuff I read some of it which made me grumpy and a bit short with DH when he started shouting through the incidents during the football. Then the soup I had made boiled over. I stayed in to watch it and DH called me a martyr?
The soup is for DS1 he says he is sleeping all the time.

Just watching Motherland Halloween it’s hilarious !

Dancingtomusic · 26/09/2021 06:24

Red - sorry to hear your dd1 is sleeping all the time and the soup boiled over. Its so lovely you are making soup for him. Hope he feels better after he had had it.

I will have to watch Motherland Halloween.

Either is very warm in here or I am having hot flushes - internal volcano style heat Confused
What is going on with the weather?

To do-
Meal plan - (foxes hope you are ok?)
Tidy more of bombsite house.
Take pictures to sell both play kitchens.
Go out for a bike ride with the kids.
Figure out if I can fit in some swimming.

Big pot of teas, coffees and fresh juices are in the naughty area.

HazelNuttyElf · 26/09/2021 07:10

hope I have made snickerdoodle cookies before, I think I even have a keto record that I need to try.

We have had a busy weekend, some relaxing, a lot of time cooking, preparing food, laundry and no exploring that I wanted to do 😭
The main thing is the happy couple had a good, relaxing weekend.
The hot tub is amazing. I plan to sit in it for a few minutes before scrambling to get everything packed away before we have to leave at 11am. We had a cramped drive up here, but the way back should be a lot more spread out.

I'm falling asleep, it's midnight and I'm exhausted. It seems I'm never able to stop and rest, if I go sit down like the rest of them, nothing gets done. I know MIL would clean up the kitchen, but it's her weekend, so she's got strict orders to not help with anything. That doesn't mean I should have to do EVERYTHING, but that's how it is. Normally, in DHs family, if you cook, someone else cleans up, does dishes, etc, it's teamwork. This weekend has been somewhat like that, but once the table is cleared, it's like they think, ooooh hot tub and leave the kitchen a mess. I can't relax when there's a mess, so there hasn't been much relaxing since there's 10 of us here 😴

Sorry, that was a bit of a rant. They're all excited to do it again, and make it yearly. I'm okay with that, to a point. It's expensive and I've done the majority of the planning. They don't realise the stress involved.
Ok I'm really done ranting now, it's bedtime.

🍒👋 to everyone

TheHoneyBadger · 26/09/2021 07:27

Not fully caught up but where is Motherland Halloween?

StillUpholding · 26/09/2021 07:45

That’s unfair you’ve ended up doing the majority Hazel. I think if it becomes a yearly thing then everyone taking a turn at cooking should be brought up in the planning stages! Enjoy the last few minutes in the hot tub and have a safe journey home.

Sounds like a good start Famous. I just use a nice planner/diary with a week to a page. I make a note of which zone falls on which week and than add the missions weekly sometimes when I’m feeling organised Have you got much to sort for your new arrival? My DC2 is due at the end of the year. Have kept most of DD’s things but lots of washing to do, and reshuffling of furniture to create a bedroom, as well has having most of the house redecorated next month…

Dancing don’t overdo it if you aren’t feeling right petal. Feet up and get yourself in the naughty corner until you’re rested!

I’ve had the best night’s sleep in a long time and bounced out of bed while DH and DD are still snoring away. Yesterday’s forgotten wet laundry is now on the line with another load in, cats are fed, DW is on and I’ve had washed a few bits. Have written myself a little to do list and I’m now chilling with a cuppa.

We had a great day yesterday ;it did stay dry Red thanks). DD enjoyed the music and it was nice to spend some time with friends.

Aims for today:
🎯 uniform for the week ironed
🎯 measurements taken for curtains, furniture etc to finally make a start on The Great Upstairs Reshuffle, possibly with some ordering done too.
🎯 a little bit of school admin to sort
🎯 floors mopped downstairs
🎯 sticky hand prints wiped from bedroom window Hmm
🎯 possibly some rejigging of the understairs cupboard of doom and a cupboard in the dining room - the mood took me earlier but that could well wear off and it isn’t urgent.

That all seems quite achievable along with some renewing of the spirit as instructed by fly lady. Hope the rest of you manage some too!

SingToTheSky · 26/09/2021 10:13

Morning. I woke up briefly around 6 (and heard the telltale Lego rustling that indicated DS also woke up)

Next thing I knew it was 9.40 😳 oh well clearly needed the sleep. Must actually get up now mind.

Glad you had a good sleep up!

Hope you feel better soon dancing

po3.1
❗️Meds and food
❗️Move laundry on, but will get DH to strip bedding for the next LOL as my arms hurt
❗️Clean weekly planner board

THATmamaofMANY · 26/09/2021 10:16

Hazel that is really shit of everyone else! Do they think you enjoy being group servant! I would be pissed off!

Up i have also just pegged a load of yesterdays washing out!

Dancing i woke up sweating buckets in the night then clicked it was probably because i had the heated airer on!

Red i hope your ds1 improves soon

Famous never a dull moment or an empty washing basket!

TheHoneyBadger · 26/09/2021 10:23

You are a Hazel Elf not a House Elf!

Dancingtomusic · 26/09/2021 12:05

Honey- 😆 house elf - dobby. Motherland is on iplayer.

Hazel- I think its not right all the clearing has fallen to you - with 10 people - thats alot of stuff to sort. You sound like you have been tidying since you got there and thats not fair. I realise its dmil birthday weekend but still - there hopefully are other people that can pitch in too. I dont blame you for ranting, its good to get it off your chest.

Up- great to hear you have bounced out of bed today! Goodluck on the great move around of stuff!

Famous- yay you have made a start! You are making me think about using my planner again.

Sing- ahhh the sound of rustling lego in the morning. God bless the lego as ds beautifully occupied with it all morning here too!

Red- Morning! Hope your ds is feeling better today.

Has anyone heard from Willow? Is she ok?

Tadas-
Made a start on tidying dd bedroom.

Todo
Lol
Clean all lunch and water bottles and prep all lunch this afternoon.
Binge watch all creatures great and small. For some reason I identify with Mrs Hall alot. (Must research where I can get a pinny like that) the one that looks straight out of the 1940s

Dancingtomusic · 26/09/2021 12:06

That- oh goodness to the heated airer heating up the room! It must hv been very hot!

SingToTheSky · 26/09/2021 12:06

:o that good point! Hazel I hope you can have a conversation with them all about how if you make this an annual thing there needs to be more give and less take for the others.

Worrying about zoo - I will send a Facebook message.

Still feeling tired, can’t believe it’s midday! I was hoping to feel better this morning having not eaten for ages before bed - sometimes I think it’s when I succumb to chocolate etc late at night that makes me achy in the mornings, but nope still felt like I’d been hit by a train, and that’s in spite of the extra sleep too! So I guess I have to just accept I’m in flare up. I guess caused by the covid even though I didn’t suffer too badly at the time.

po3.2
❗️Tidy up puzzles
❗️Fold up massive bit of cardboard packaging
❗️Do pattern activity with duplo before putting it in the selling cupboard

HillsBesideTheSea · 26/09/2021 12:06

Can someone borrow the people? All of them? for the day?
I have one stropping because they want an answer to a really complicated thing which requires researching before and answer can be given. And they want the answer yesterday (I said by next sunday)
I have one shouting at their computer because they have not put their sodding hearing aid in
And i have one ranting about things that they don't really know or understand.

Ffs. Fuck off the lot of you. I need to go into work today, I need to tear my room apart from top to bottom and get it tidy, I need to actually write my god damn cv considering my job ends this week.

SingToTheSky · 26/09/2021 12:06

I meant honey with the house elf point!

HillsBesideTheSea · 26/09/2021 12:07

And the stress migraine and not sleeping thing continues. Can't think why...

THATmamaofMANY · 26/09/2021 13:28

sing i did send zoo a mn pm last night but no response yet, hope she is ok

TheHoneyBadger · 26/09/2021 20:37

I managed another lol, put another armful of clothes away including ds's school uniform for the week and I cooked but otherwise I have mostly been binge watching Motherland and drinking beer.

I've spent much of the day with my hair smothered in coconut oil which probably counts as self care? And to be honest beer and Motherland ticks renewing your spirit for me Grin

My plan for the morning is to get up and start a start a good healthy stew to cook for a couple of hours before work then finish off after work and to empty, reload and start the dw. Plus the obvious getting ds up, making his packed lunch, taking out the dog, feeding animals and showering etc.

By the end of tomorrow I will have another two class sets of essays on life in the trenches in WW1 to mark so will try and make myself stay at work and get at least the one set I see again on Wednesday done.

The idea that I might be totally on top of work AND home one day seems laughably far fetched currently but you never know.

I was wondering about Zoo too - haven't heard from her on here since just before her ds was starting new school. Hope everything is ok.

I've just realised I've also done half a course on the effects of stress on the brain and prevention of mental illness today too so a little bit more effective than I thought. Paid a ridiculous amount for it considering it's purely online and watching videos and reading stuff and doing quizzes but it is interesting and it's supposed to move onto looking at why people on the autistic spectrum are so easily stressed and tend to stress others and ways to help that - I seem to have at least one kid on the spectrum in every class so if it can help me understand and better support them then it's worth it I guess.
