StillUpholding · 29/08/2021 15:23

Calling all fledglings, newbies and lurkers to the September FlyLady thread! Join us as we try to sometimes rather loosely follow FlyLady’s routines to steer us gradually towards clean and tidy homes and organised lives, with lots of nattering and support along the way.

The more the merrier, so please feel welcome to join. I’ll post daily links to try to keep us on track, and I’ll explain the system as we go if we have any newbies. If there’s anything you’re not sure about please ask. The website is here but be wary of signing up to the emails. There are lots.

Thanks to our lovely Sing for keeping us flapping through August, you did a grand job.

The naughty corner is fully stocked for anyone needing a little respite. I am already keeping it warm for everyone today and I’m not even sorry

Remember, you are never behind, just jump in where you are. Let’s do this Fledglings!

Woohoo! Well done Sing

hills sorry about your trip. I had to look up what the petrol crisis was since I'm not there. That's so awful and I'm sorry it's affecting so many of you.

Red get well soon 💐

I'll come back in a few minutes for more personals, we're out shopping for wood trim for the partial wall we have.

HazelNuttyElf · 28/09/2021 03:55

I'm sorry famous I forgot to welcome you before 👋
willow we have a spoiled princess for a dog, she thinks she runs the house 😆

🍒👋 to everyone else, sorry my brain is a little foggy tonight, I'm so tired.

We did have a nice time at the cabin, just a lot of work involved. The hot tub was amazing so I vote we put one in the naughty corner and I'm the first one in!

I was back at work today, 10hr shift as usual, and also off tomorrow (Tuesday) as usual.
I'm hoping to get some flying done tomorrow, although DS did clean the house before he went up to the cabin, so it's really not bad since we haven't been there 🤫

Dancingtomusic · 28/09/2021 04:56

Hazel- great idea for a hot tub in the naughty area.

Red- sorry to hear you are coughing lots. Yes do a lft test but my understanding is that if showing signs of covid then go for a pcr test. I sure others on here can advise. Hope you are ok lovely.

Sing- breadbin 😆

Putting hot teas and coffees in the naughty corner.

SingToTheSky · 28/09/2021 07:32

So sorry you’re feeling rubbish red :( as hazel said it’s a PCR you need so I’d order one ASAP. 💐 I think there’s a lot of general colds/coughs going around at the moment though since the weather changed.

Fell asleep fairly quickly in the end (thank you weighted blanket!) but then woke at 6.40 and haven’t been able to sleep since. Bit annoying as I didn’t need to be up yet! And it’s cold 🥶

Wondering if I need to make a list of things to sort out before actually starting work. It’s weird, as I won’t be leaving the house much for the job, and when I do the hours basically seems to be my choice. So it’s not like needing to be up and out several days a week or anything like that. But obviously the more I can sort out before starting the better. Mainly the decluttering and decorating (one month tomorrow the sofa finally arrives!) and some more planning for DS’ home ed, as well as the tutoring (the job is only 8-12hrs a week so I can still continue, but I won’t take on any more work than I already have lined up).

Clearly not getting back to sleep (WHY did I stay up so late? 😭) so:

po3.1
❗️Meds and breakfast (bread based, obv - brioche anyone?) 🍞🗑
❗️Respond to various emails etc
❗️Find last year’s chemistry books and pack bag for DS’ lesson (my book for bus journey etc)

IWillWashTheGreenWillow · 28/09/2021 07:32

Thanks for the tea Dancing, most welcome. Hazel hot tub in the naughty corner is inspired! Hope today is not too long in terms of work and family.

Red well done on clearing the boudoir. Best get a PCR if you have symptoms, I think. Hope it's just a cold and you are better soon.

Well, wheels are coming off here following DD's wigging from a Deputy Head yesterday and she is currently refusing to go into school. I am trying not to catastrophise but honestly, she not been back a month and someone has managed to bugger it up by not thinking or paying attention to what the SENCo has told them. DH said yesterday we should warn them that this might spike the PTSD again and I didn't think it would be an issue - I didn't realise what a knife edge we were on.

Fuck, fuck, fuck. Sorry.

To do today:
📚 Rescue DD's academic career.

SingToTheSky · 28/09/2021 07:33

I meant dancing! 🙈

SingToTheSky · 28/09/2021 07:36

Oh hell willow I’m so sorry :( hopefully she will be ok soon - remember what a disaster her first day back was, and she bounced back pretty quickly from that. It may be that she has more “I can’t do this” days than most, but then dusts herself off and carries on when she remembers (with your support) that she CAN do this. 💐

TheHoneyBadger · 28/09/2021 08:14

I'm putting my hopes on what Sing said. Not every set back has to set you all the way back and hopefully she will recover and be back on track quickly Willow.

Off to placemark on other thread.

HillsBesideTheSea · 28/09/2021 08:19

Sorry it is such an issue this morning Willow I hope you manage to find a calm path through the storm.

I am listening to the Parent welcome evening presentation and reading threads on the petrol situation. I had to stop as it was making me angry.

ds has been muttering about the "fucking pointless shit show" that is student development day. He is still mad at me from yesterday as well so the atmosphere is heated and frosty.

Today is mental in terms of the to do list. But my back is goosed, and i still have a trapped nerve in my lower back/hip. Anyone know where our resident ironing etc helper is? Can i borrow?

IWillWashTheGreenWillow · 28/09/2021 08:54

Sorry for the panic. We are dialling back. DH is speaking to DD and he is much better at talking her down. One of us will drive her to school and hand her to Sixth Form Welfare in a minute. You are right, Honey, not everything need put us right back to the beginning. And Sing you are also right that she got through the first week despite day 1 being wobbly.

I just panicked. Sorry.

Hills hope you can get through the day.

GoingGoingGoth · 28/09/2021 08:58

Willow that’s dreadful, you’d expect a deputy head to have some clue.
It’s understandable that you’d panic, you don’t want to have to be firefighting through the whole year.

HillsBesideTheSea · 28/09/2021 08:59

Willow in your situation it is understandable. We worry for our children, don't want them to have to go through struggles and problems, and can see the bigger impacts far further down the line then they can.

Ds would normally kick off about the student development day, and point blank refuse. When he started his comments I expected a repeat of the last 5 years of school refuseal over this day. but there was no fuss, an acceptance it was what it was, and he headed in. But i am sat here releasing the stress over it that started to build and ramp up due to the initial "i don't want to".

It is ok to be worried, we have enough wise people here that perspective is possible, and support if needed given. Now tell me you have a good brew and something nice you can do for half hour today?

SingToTheSky · 28/09/2021 09:02

Don’t apologise for panicking willow - she may be year 12 now but she’s still your baby and you want to protect her! 💐

Right, I am dressed and have found the stuff needed for DS’ lesson including a notebook (with the periodic table on the cover, obv). Need to grab a mask for the bus though and I might dig out a puzzle magazine for the lesson (I’m staying there this first time, but don’t want to sit staring at them as it might be off putting 🤣).

Now to stop procrastinating over emails.

SingToTheSky · 28/09/2021 09:02

Or what hills said far more eloquently! 😀💕

merryhouse · 28/09/2021 09:59

I am officially An Evil Person

I have read the whole thread from the doctor whose daughter hasn't passed the 11+ and who can't afford private school and appears though she hasn't confirmed it to be a single parent

and I find myself seriously hoping that it's the same poster who a few years ago was all over the state vs private threads like a rash being all smug about how she and her husband had had their children early while they were still training and were going to be perfect parents because they were well-educated and had chosen each other well so weren't going to split up...

halfhope · 28/09/2021 10:21

I've lost count of the number of threads I've walked away from muttering merry. If I did squats every time I'd have buns of steel 😁

HillsBesideTheSea · 28/09/2021 10:43

I may have feelings about the smug ass poster who started a thread about public transport vs petrol. I maybe hoping that they find themselves in the situation where there is no public transport to rely on...

A person made the mistake of saying they didnt understand the fuss about what the labour leader said. It was a mistake, they have been now suitably educated. And have gone into hiding because i have feelings on the matter

THATmamaofMANY · 28/09/2021 12:15

I think the labour leader needs to resit biology

SingToTheSky · 28/09/2021 12:20

Definitely!

On way back from chemistry. DS enjoyed it and engaged well :)

HillsBesideTheSea · 28/09/2021 12:22

And society needs to take a very close look at their social construction of what gender is. Gender definitions are so narrow thanks to commercialism that really no one fits them any more. It never used to be that bad.

StillUpholding · 28/09/2021 12:28

I’ve had to step away from a few threads recently after being on the brink of a rant. I saw that one Merry and was Hmm.

Ah Willow hope DD has a better day today (and no need to apologise!). Hopefully as she calms down she’ll be able to see that the teacher was in the wrong and it’s not her Flowers

Thanks for the new thread Hills. I’ll still do late links until this one runs out.

Hope you feel better soon Red, and as the others said, yep it’s a PCR. Fingers crossed it’s negative!

It’s planning day, and the mission is to declutter Knick knacks from the living room. launchpad

EssentiallyDisorganised · 28/09/2021 12:32

I too have been rolling my eyes about the Labour party views on the C word this week.

IWillWashTheGreenWillow · 28/09/2021 12:37

I am definitely voting Monster Raving Loony from here on, if the Labour leader is Biologically Confused.

SingToTheSky · 28/09/2021 12:41

Alarming isn’t it hills. Yet we call it progress 🙄😩

Am back home. Scoffing my boughten lunch. Zoom in 20mins. And 1h20mins.

HillsBesideTheSea · 28/09/2021 13:07

Let me put it this way, the next testes haver who asks if I am actually a man because of my skills and knowledge might be reminded why they are the weaker sex. I have had this for over 20 years and it is not funny now, was not funny then and actually i find it quite offensive.

Yep it is alarming. But sadly not new. People will always fight to retain control even if them having it, is not beneficial to others, or actually themselves in the long run. And capitalism is completely unsustainable.
