Welcome one and all!

I’m quickly setting up the August thread (ok seriously I know someone says this every month but HOW is it August already?!) - MN has been a bit iffy today, and I got rather distracted this evening which I fear may be a portent of my hosting skills this month. Thank you to the lovely ED for steering us through July despite much to manage at home 💐

Anyway - do join in as we loosely follow the Flylady system, in order to gradually sort our houses out. The key word here is GRADUALLY. There is no turning the house upside down and banishing chaos overnight, there is slow and steady. You are never behind. Miss a day? Week? Decade? No worries, jump back in, it’ll all come round again.

Newbies always welcome!

well that is a slightly unfortunate error Blush

merryhouse · 01/08/2021 17:44

made me laugh, Hills

That reminds me of a typo I saw on the preppers thread yesterday - "I keep a wind-up torch in my cat, too." I've been snorting ever since.

SingToTheSky · 01/08/2021 18:16

:o hills

TBF a lot of people say “I’m bushed” when tired sooo could be worse 😳🤣

po3.3
❗️Finish downloading/organising the downloads for one of DS’ new textbooks (answers are not in it)
❗️Gather the stuff that DD1 has helpfully put outside her room Hmm and double check it’s outside because she no longer wants it
❗️Plan, print and file assessment materials for tomorrow’s English lesson

Thanks for the lovely new thread Sing. Might see if I can manage to average more than two posts a week Blush

ED thanks so much for July. You were amazing to keep going with all you’ve had going on. Hope august is a little less chaotic for you.

Titter at your typo Hills. No need to blush, I’ve had two Grin. Sorry the new meds aren’t going well.

Hope you managed some sleep after all the coffee Mc.

Aww Willow, another of your babies all grown up! Just shows you’ve done a fab job getting them prepared for the world. Hope they are both very happy in their new home.

Hi floating, lovely to have you with us.

VERY lazy day for me today. As well as my two naps DH has done most of the parenting (I’ve done cuddles in front of the TV) and we had a Sunday lunch delivered. I did get a burst of energy late this afternoon and did a huuuge pile of ironing and all clean clothes are put away. I also dusted and tidied DD’s room, and I’m going to run the hoover over upstairs after I’ve had a sit down.

We have a flower bed in the garden I’m going to dig over and will eventually be covered by a patio Dancing. It’s about the size of an average adult male. Just saying Wink

HazelNuttyElf · 01/08/2021 18:46

Welcome floating feel free to ask us anything you don't understand. You are never behind on flylady and even just doing 1 LOL a day, shining your sink or S&S helps.

Last night after going out for dinner, I massaged DD (her shoulders & feet were bothering her) then we played pool. DS had fallen asleep on the couch so he didn't join in. I stayed up really late in the end (1:30am) and woke up today at 10:50am! That's way too late for me and feel I've wasted half the day 🤬
We're planning on going riding on the four wheelers this afternoon. Later we'll have to mow the lawn as it's getting long, although could wait until tomorrow morning.
I need my 2nd cup of coffee as I have no motivation to move right now and I've been up almost an hour now. I'm hoping I can get some boxes unpacked, but we still need to figure out shelves for most of it.

HazelNuttyElf · 01/08/2021 18:56

dancing I'm fuming at your H for not helping. He sounds like he's one of those who thinks home and family life is women's work. What would he do if you just left the house for 2 hours, leaving the DC with him? He is just as responsible for them as you are. He sounds like he is an entitled teenager. Sorry, "men" like that make me mad, sorry if he's not one of them, but by your posts it sounds like it. I think you have mentioned not being happy in the past and unable to leave, but it's showing your DC how women "should" get treated and the cycle will continue. Other than money and not being able to afford to leave, is there a reason you are still with him?
Sorry again, probably sticking my nose in where it don't belong. 💐💐💐
If nothing else, I can provide an alibi or somewhere to escape to after taking up Up on her offer.

halfhope · 01/08/2021 20:23

I am currently extremely late to the thread - took annual leave seriously 😁. ED many thanks indeed for leading July and best luck with your kitchen revamp. Sing thanks for starting the August thread.

floatingon · 01/08/2021 21:54

Thank you for welcoming me everyone you seem like a lovely lot🥰.

merry don’t bank on me being enthusiastic, I don’t have the best track record. I give it until 5pm tomorrow before I crash and burn😂

sing my DH has just built a piano in our living room for me, I’m only just starting out but it’s so relaxing isn’t it!.

hills haha I will be in the naughty corner sooner than I think I imagine!

up your Sunday sounds like a dream😍

Thank you hazel I’m going to start small at first I think, s&s seems like something that will definitely keep me on top of things.

YupIHave · 01/08/2021 22:15

Mc3209 · 01/08/2021 22:56

Dropping some ta das:
💥LOL X2
💥Folded huge pile of clean clothes
💥 Fishtank maintenance X3
💥 Rubbish out to the bins
💥Beds stripped and remade

The rest of home bleugh will happen tomorrow.

Welcome floating !

ExtremelyDisorganised · 01/08/2021 23:19

Well. I was moaning yesterday about having to clear the hall to allow the broadband to be rewired. This led to a LOT of irritation as no one could find their shoes, bags etc in the huge heaps of stuff DH created in the dining room. But while I was out today DH paired up all the shoes, including ones from under the stairs which is our overflow shoe/coat store and then we sorted them out. About a third of the shoes and several coats (filling two black bin bags) have now been decluttered, most of the remaining coats put under our bed till winter and the hall repopulated with the rest - it looks huge! And the broadband works properly. Win win.

SingToTheSky · 01/08/2021 23:20

Ooh fab re the piano floating! Have you seen the piano chat thread that started the other day? (I haven’t caught up with it yet so don’t remember if I saw your name there!)

Dancing I agree with Hazel he sounds so awful 🤬

I’ve got loads more home ed/tutoring planning done this evening.

po3.4
❗️Washing in dryer

Mc- thank you for the use of your patio! 🤣

Floating- welcome!

Hazel- all those things are correct. I am stuck in this marriage as i have no job and money. But I have been sticking to my guns and keeping the kitchen clean and being very shouty about mess. I took the kids out cycling and staying out until late. Currently 'd'h is fuming i bough the kids home at 10.30pm. We led separate lives.
I am going to start doing guided mediations.

Cant type anymore. Eyes are closing.
Night!

OP posts:
SingToTheSky · 01/08/2021 23:58

And here is the priority list 😩

🎯start taking blood pressure (twice a day for two weeks as requested by GP due to meds)
🎯book ECG and bloods (ditto)
🎯check feedback on units 1-3, sign them off and email tutor
🎯do assignment 4
🎯print and file more stuff for DS
🎯help DD1 with her plans for studying a bit over summer
🎯print and laminate some resources for tutoring
🎯update tutoring lesson record
🎯paint bathroom
🎯sort photo for charity thing and message to apologise for delay
🎯sort cinema booking with friends
🎯sort DD1’s cinema trip as her friend can’t go due to positive contact
🎯properly read job specification for new vacancy and adjust covering letter
🎯email liaison person re DS’ CAMHS referral
🎯find out ticket availability for two plays I’d like to see

In reality that really isn’t everything I need to be doing. Tried to just choose a mix of things as well as the most urgent. But anyway 15 things is enough of a scary list. Bloody hell. 😭

Redsquirrel5 · 02/08/2021 06:43

Hi and welcome floating.

Well I have had a good day. Mass, ham roll, two lovely gardens. Met a couple of gardeners and two non gardens that were helping and were hilarious ladies. One lives in a house three houses from the house that DP mother lived in. Then we came home and made Roast pork, roast potatoes, sweet potato, squash, peas, broad beans and French beans from the garden followed by apple and black currants (from the garden) crumble. Two glasses of white wine. Loaded half the dishwasher and DH did the rest and washed two pans and roasting trays. Then I watched A&E in bed.
Tomorrow I promise to crack on.

Note: if you don’t train your sons to do jobs and learn to cook they will end up like Dancing’s Not so D, H!

Not keen on completing one LOL before washing another bet she only has one or two kids. As soon as one load was finished the next went in or we would have been in a right pickle.
Right I am off to sleep now.

YupIHave · 02/08/2021 07:33

Morning all. (Goodnight red. That sounds like a good day.)

-Ed thanks for the July thread. Glad to hear hall looks big after your decluttering. Always a nice feeling.

sing that's a daunting priority list but you are so good at power of 3 and willl power through them. Eating an elephant and all that. Thank you for the August thread.

zoo it all sounds very stressful for you guys. 'D'H not helping either. In fact, adding to the stress. I get a bit confused though. I can't quite work out if you have 3 or 4 children. DD1 getting married, DS your teen, DD2 also a teen. Little zoo is your youngest DD3? Am I right?

In fact, help me get this straight. sing has 4 children: 2 older ones (DD and DS) and 2 younger ones. Am I right? Caglet and cagletini.

I know dancing has 2 under 6. Who has 6 children?

Anyway, dancing lovely that your brother helped you with your kitchen. Bike ride with DC sounds fun. Your DH, not so much.

Hills that's a lot of ta-das before work. Why are you moving boxes etc? I must have missed the start of that conversation.

willow you must be so proud of your sons but it's an end of an era. Thanks

floating welcome

HillsBesideTheSea · 02/08/2021 07:40

building work yup constant cycle of prep-work, mess, clean up etc. I swear levelling the house and starting from scratch would have been cheaper, easier and quicker!
We are slowly winning but dang has it taken way way way too long!

Stilllivinginazoo · 02/08/2021 07:44

yup sorry lovely.there are deffo 4 zoolets.in order dd1(26),dd2(17)D's(15),lil zoo(13)
Sing has 3 DD,D's and cagletini.her pre sing name was CAG,thus the caglets as a collective for her brood.she has step DD too(older)

Dancingtomusic · 02/08/2021 07:45

Red- 🤣 you are right, 'D'h mum did everything for him. His home life was awful growing up. That why i didnt want to marry him. He didnt know the basics, laundry or cleaning. He was raised by his single mum who had the most horrible boyfriend. Unfortunately, 'D'h is displaying behaviours like his mums ex boyfriend (shouty, and stupid comments.)
I have decided I am old and very round, so its my turn to be tough, and run the house with a iron fist. I come from a family of extremely strong women that run their men. I'll be doing that. I am beyond determined and strong minded. He will be regretting his stupid behaviour- (he has keep the kitchen pristine while I was out.)

Sing- that is a amazing list of planning for teaching! And all of different subjects! I am impressed.

Hazel- I dont mind you saying that as its the truth.

Ed- thats a good lot of po3s!

Zoo- you have got your hands full with ds and lilzoo. Its so nice you played games with your ds. Is it only 4 weeks until the wedding. Wow thats not long. Have you found a dress? Have you heard of some clothes ranges are hiring out dresses so for £30 or £40 a £300 dress can be hired instead. I saw the item on This Morning.

🍒👋everyone!

Dancingtomusic · 02/08/2021 07:57

Oops crosed posts from me.

Yup- hi, yes I have 2 kids a 5yrold and a 6 yr old.
(I would have loved 6 kids but my broken body could never have managed that.)

I am considering going to a farm park today. Kids are still sleeping after their 4 mile bike ride yesterday.

Oh Dbro is lovely and came and sorted out the stationary drawers in the house. He spent 4 hours here yesterday.

Apparently we are still in Zone 1 (entrance/dining room) - here is the list of missions. Today’s is sweeping the entry to your home!

It is Monday, so the daily focus is the Home Bleugh (for newbies please don’t worry about getting all this done in one measly hour! It is ambitious to say the least! Many of us spread the tasks out over the week too).
