Action Stations for August! Fledglings Flap Frantically and Swish’n’Swipe through Summer

Welcome one and all!

I’m quickly setting up the August thread (ok seriously I know someone says this every month but HOW is it August already?!) - MN has been a bit iffy today, and I got rather distracted this evening which I fear may be a portent of my hosting skills this month. Thank you to the lovely ED for steering us through July despite much to manage at home 💐

Anyway - do join in as we loosely follow the Flylady system, in order to gradually sort our houses out. The key word here is GRADUALLY. There is no turning the house upside down and banishing chaos overnight, there is slow and steady. You are never behind. Miss a day? Week? Decade? No worries, jump back in, it’ll all come round again.

Newbies always welcome!

Just sitting for a few minutes as I left unnecessarily early. Haven’t quite caught up with the thread yet (only finished July’s earlier today!) but zoo yes we have the game Patchwork, it’s great isn’t it? Set-up confused me a bit at first but it’s a lovely game. I have the more portable doodle version too which I’ve yet to try, but DS has played it on Zoom with his Scout group!

po3.6 for when I get back from piano
❗️Phone cinema to hopefully change ticket
❗️Order wider binder combs
❗️Put July’s earnings in on UC site and try and figure out how expenses work as I may end up with some this month

Wow those photos are really striking zoo!

Can’t phone up about the cinema tickets tonight so will just have to hope DSD sends me the info (she’s taking the spare seat now but it needs changing and I need her unlimited card number) tomorrow. Time for a new list instead!

po3.7
❗️Take BP reading
❗️Edit Tesco order
❗️Check if pupil has sent homework and check lesson is on tomorrow

Redsquirrel5 · 03/08/2021 23:02

Oh no Yup I hope it is negative.

Hills consider what order to move things out and around the bedroom...this sounds like mine.

MrsTidy so lovely to have you back, good list! Result re DS and stuff.

I got the door done.
Vacuumed the carpet mat in my bedroom.
Vacuumed along hall but didn’t move anything.
Wiped inside of door.

Went to M&S and bought friend and I some veggie wraps, meal deal for lunch.
Went to friend’s house had lovely time in her garden under brolly. She is having a hard time with people and illness, oldness and accident one north and two very south. She has left work in April. Chewed over a few things heard and happened since we both feel we are well out of it. Such a shame as it was a happy place to work before. Good to see her and we are going to have regular met ups.i really would liked to get rid of the Chaos and have her over here. She is ruthless at throwing things out so house is pretty tidy. I love her house it has personality. Large old Victorian house.

Came home and snipped dead headed all the pots outside and the hanging baskets, swept up and put in bin as DH had put it out on kerb. Then swept path after dead heading pots and edge of stone wall. That counts for front door I think. Most people use our kitchen door on the side of the house, strangers use the front door we don’t have a back door.
Had chicken kebabs, thin Cumberland sausage and salad for tea and ice cream and strawberries. DH bought me ice cream as he went to the big Tesco’s.😄I like him today!

He is going walking so I hope to wake early and get moving sooner than usual.
Oh cleaned out another handbag I found. Half was able to be burnt. Might go through it again tomorrow.

Tidies corner for Hazel to relax in when she arrives. Coffee and 🧁☕️

Ah thanks for the kind words about my list I was worried it might not be very good because we live in a tiny home so we don’t actually have many rooms in this zone😂. We haven’t been up to much today, DD and I went foraging early in the day but the weather was rubbish and I’m feeling a bit under the weather so we went back home and did some tuff tray play and watched a couple of films.

That’s lovely news for your DD hazel good luck to her with her practical 🚗

mc I’ve found this pregnancy harder than my last but only because I have a toddler now. The actual pregnancy has been fine, I had terrible morning sickness with DD but everything’s been quite smooth this time!. I can’t believe your DH hasn’t cleaned his office for over a year! Hopefully this time around he keeps it clean 🧼

sing I thought the sloths were very apt for how how I feel🤣

half how lovely! My family are from Ireland and we love going to visit, we love Scotland too, we’re hoping to take our camper up their for a few weeks next year.

honey sorry about your trip being cancelled! But at least you can see the silver lining.

yup I hope you’re DS is okay❤️

zoo gorgeous photos! I hope you managed to rest up for the rest of the evening after such a long walk

red your friends house sounds lovely, I love houses with character

HillsBesideTheSea · 04/08/2021 00:28

So the problem with Aspie teenagers is you have to be precisely clear about boundaries. I wasn't and thus i am waiting up for teen to get home with no idea when teen is due home. Arses. My fault. i didnt give him a curfew. And normally he just shouts at the computer talks to his friends online

I am also super tired and he is not answering his phone. Which is a double arses thing.

MrsTidyHouse · 04/08/2021 06:30

Yesterday's ta-das

LoL, and hung up on pulley.
Essential two phone calls with dentist. TIme taken - ten mins tops. Time spent pondering, worrying - several hours.

Some paperwork, not all, into office.

Did extra sorting and tidying of pc games. Disappointed to find that one of the very few that I wanted to keep is missing from its box.

On the plus side, was then able to get everything off the top of the bookcase and on to the shelves. Neatly, and labelled.

Thought about LG's secondary a bit more. Decided to write it all down and Make a List. Do the same for LB.

Today's to-do list, in no particular order.

Papers and office.

Make a new list of phone calls.

A bit of a tidy of garden paths.

A bit of a tidy everywhere else. The movement loosens up my back and ankles, which have been troublesome for longer than usual.
Admire the number of boxes and large storage tubs that are now empty after July's hardcore sort-and-tidy. Resist the urge to find things to put in them.

THATmamaofMANY · 04/08/2021 07:35

Name change!

Tidy i have a growing pile of empty boxes and tubs on my landing as i am almost at the end of sorting dc 3/4/5s bedrooms! I cant believe all those boxes were full!

SingToTheSky · 04/08/2021 07:39

Morning all.

Argh hills I hear you with the need for being utterly crystal clear with the teen

I really should’ve gone to bed earlier last night. As Ross Noble would say, I’m a fool to meself!

po3.1
❗️Dressed, meds, breakfast
❗️Set up (inc zoom rescue) for 9am lesson
❗️Message friend to check if she still wants a trial lesson for her DS today

May I join please? joined TOMM but can’t get on with it but working full time and struggling

THATmamaofMANY · 04/08/2021 07:46

Yup i hope your DS is ok

Floating having a teen and a newborn is ok (so far) we have most of the age groups atm - baby / toddler / preschooler / primary child / tween / teen. I might be insane, i'm not really sure.

Red your meet up with friend sounds good, its a shame your workplace changed, i feel the same about mine, i don't think i will go back after maternity leave, its like the priorities of the place are just not what they used to be (and in my mind still should be)

Hills hope your DS returned and not too late!

Zoo that sounds like a bloody LONG walk

THATmamaofMANY · 04/08/2021 07:49

Floating what is wrong with your DH? Has he had a head bump? Nixon Dixon Shock

Sing are you starting OU in Sept/Oct i cannot remember?

Welcome peony TOMM is nuts. The bootcamp thing is WAY too much!

SingToTheSky · 04/08/2021 07:59

Welcome peony! 💐 Sorry you didn’t get on with TOMM, I agree with others though it’s very daunting with the boot camp thing. Real life doesn’t work like that unless you have time off work/other responsibilities to really focus on clearing the house out! Much prefer the slow and steady of Flylady :o just shout if you have any questions.

Yep that I hopefully am. Still need to sort it all out though, it’s one of the scary things I’ve been avoiding even though I made good progress on it earlier in the year (when it was too early to apply for the actual course or the loan). I have almost finished the scary to do list I wrote on Sunday night (9 completely done, 5 in progress, 1 not started) so my next one I WILL put some OU stuff on there.

🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋

It’s Wednesday! That means the daily focus is anti procrastination - do something you’ve been putting off. You’ll feel better for it.

FLIGHTPLAN

Here are the missions. Today’s is walls/windows in the dining room if you have one.

Also for our new Fledglings here are the babysteps - a way of building up good habits. Worth a look through (the links to the rest are at the bottom of the page) but don’t worry about all of them. Some are a bit daft/twee and while we’re on that topic, we highly recommend you do NOT sign up to their emails, as you will be swamped with advertising!

Good luck with the day everyone 💖

IWillWashTheGreenWillow · 04/08/2021 08:17

Oh good grief I am so insanely behind on the thread.

Today is shaping up to be a Write Off Wednesday. I'll leave this here and go back and read.

THATmamaofMANY · 04/08/2021 08:20

I love Write off Wednesday. Shit nights sleep here so i may join you Willow!

Sing i have signed up for my LAST two modules for an October start. May have bitten off more than can chew but decided to give it a go and can always defer one if needed. Did sign up for one of these modules last year and defered after first TMA as too much with homeschool etc! On the plus side i have been able to carry over that TMA score so don't have to do TMA1 for that module!

HillsBesideTheSea · 04/08/2021 08:22

I hear you Willow definitely WOW here too!

Finally got hold of ds at half 1. He was apologetic, we will have words. He chose to stay at friends. Which I have a few feelings about cos pandemic, also dude you could have told me before 1 am! So we will have a midnight curfew and a decision about where staying prior to 11pm.

So tired I can barely function. Today is going to be hard. And i have a crap ton of stuff that needs to be done. Thursday is going to hurt also.

THATmamaofMANY · 04/08/2021 08:26

Hills Brew☕🧃

Redsquirrel5 · 04/08/2021 08:43

DHis up and out for a walk. I was hoping for a cup of tea but I think I am out of luck.

Welcome Peony.

Hills sorry to hear teen was late. Yes curfew time is needed for teens. Think of a number then tell them half an hour earlier.
