Swish through September 2019 with the fledglings - Flylady thread

Let's swish and swipe our way through September, decluttering as we go with the Flylady! We have a mix of old and new fledglings and everyone is welcome to join us for chat and motivation. Thanks to Stressy for running a fabulous August thread!

The Flylady Launch Pad is the place to start each day - each week focuses on a different zone of the house to clean if you have decluttered it first (can't clean clutter) and you can also follow the Babysteps if you'd like to introduce one new element each day and build on that.

If you like to plan in advance, the weekly Sneak Peek will give you advance notice of the missions and zone coming up, it changes each weekend.

The monthly focus for September is making the bed.

Yesterday didn’t go to plan but I did do the mending that has been waiting all summer so that’s something. Sorry no baby news yet i’ve maybe you should plan something you can’t do when the baby arrives as that will undoubtedly work as they always arrive when least convenient. Trying not to be drawn into posh stationery shopping as I still believe a nice new notebook will magically make me more organised.

I feel normal now I know others haven't labelled all the uniform yet - I keep seeing Facebook perfect parenting posts about having everything sorted and prepped ready for school and I'm just meh I'd rather spend time with the kids Grin

Ta da
Older 2 at school
Wash put in
Popped up to Mil for a coffee with my youngest

Just had lunch, going to hang the washing out and prep tea before taking the youngest to the hairdressers at 2. Maybe even tidy and hoover through depending on how distracted I get with dd2 .

Shock

I did have to buy quite a lot through the year last year. DS is in y11 now so hoping he'll get through, he'll need shoes at some point but not quite yet. I have had to buy DD a laptop though, so we aren't completely spared any expense.

Trying to catch up with odd jobs today, things that I don't do as often as I should (dusting the ops of wardobes etc). Keep getting distracted by all the Brexit stuff.

I haven't done any labelling apart from to scribble dd name in her new plimsolls. She is going back in a summer dress I think though and I didn't really get any new uniform anyway. Just shirts which I haven't even taken out of the packet Blush dh has cleaned her shoes...

We aren't very organised!

I have done all my labelling . However, that is only because we have been ready to go back for at least 2 weeks - mine do much better with structure and long periods of unstructured time end in fighting, bickering and general despair Grin. That said I have failed to order the leavers’ hoodie for DD1 in time so am not quite as organised as I thought.

Two days of listening.

Kids in tomorrow we saw a few today getting uniform. Two of my lovely Year 6's with siblings. Feel sad that I wont be teaching them this year.

Not too keen where I am for this year. I feel really anxious and wish I had resigned. There is Union meeting for interview techniques so I signed up for it I could have done with it in July.

Zero flying except making my bed this morning and tidying the summer house as I had paint and paper all over the place. Tidy now and afternoon tea being planned for two friends.

Hey can I join? My house can get so cluttered as I have 4 DC in a 3 bed house, so there’s stuff everywhere and I’d really like to change that. I also want to be a bit more organised this year as 2 of my DC are now in school and 1 is in nursery so I want to actually be organised

Welcome Midsummer!
Bower
Thanks I really hope that work comes up with a solution that you're happy with .
Zoo I went to the shop with dd2 on the way to pick ds up from school, dd2 picked some cookies up for ds coming out of school , our conversation in the shop cue:
'we'll cook the cookies at home Mummy,'
'No darling, they're already cooked, we can eat them'
'No the cookies are freeeezing, cookies are better out of the oven when they're warm'
'I know darling but we can't cook the cookies, they've already been cooked and put in the packet'
'No you don't buy cookies , I like cookies out of the oven , but the oven is hot hot hot'
The lady behind me said 'aww I think it's so lovely you bake with your daughter , she obviously prefers home cooked it's nice to see someone who does this still' proceeds to rant about society, mums not cooking anymore etc etc
I totally agreed with her lapping up the compliments ............... even though we have NEVER baked cookies GrinGrin where the hell my dd2 got all that information from I do not have a clue lol I've been giggling to myself about it all evening, when I read your post about baking cookies I had to share !

Ta da
Tea cooked
Washing dried and put away
Took dd2 to the hairdresser and to the park
Ds and dd1 was ready for dance and football in plenty of time
3 uniforms are labelled , ironed and ready.

Having a g&t, then off to bed for an early morning start . Night everyone .

Well that was smooth in some areas(lunches were Instagram worthy)
But not in others(shoes bought for lil zoo are no where to be found and despite turning house over no sign of dd2 water bottle)

We left on time(lil zoo in last year's shoes which aren't greatest fit anymore)so I am calling it a win!!I had a lump in my throat and did blink back a few tears as I waved her in(we cross fields/nature reserve to get to school so it's not ridiculous I accompany her for a few days and after that will probably walk dd2 and her friend)

Tada
Tidied ruthlessly under dining table hunting for water bottle/shoes
Ditto under computer table
4th load laundry about go in drier
Research some topics taught in year 9 for D's as he's still not in education

To do
Make banana muffins/loaf with ds as locate couple bananas going more brown than yellow during big clear up
Do some prep for tonight's tea so I can sit and chat lil zoo after school(beef mince with peppers and thyme, jacket spud and broccoli.dd2 having a soy mince version and jacket sweet potato )
Get DS doing something educational!!
More washing- it's been breeding under beds againHmm

zoo - similar here, we left on time, ds even walked all the way there and back no buggy! But downside, dd shoes are a bit small and her dress was a bit short (I thought she'd want to wear a summer dress so wasn't prepared and her shoes fit her perfectly a week ago!) 🤦🤷

Oh well, me and ds had to go to the post office afterwards so we stopped off for chocolate cake at the cafe Smile

His birthday tomorrow and I don't feel very prepared.

Time to get on with some more housework, think I need to start with cleaning the fridge and freezer.

Laundry. Determined to win this battle.

Is it your DS' birthday tomorrow, Foxes? I had written a note to remind myself, put it under Thursday but the reminder was set to go off tomorrow. Seamless. I can't believe I get to post on these threads Grin

I am making a difference
