Fledglings aim for an amazing August - the Flylady thread

...or just aim to get through the summer holidays!

Welcome to the August Flylady thread. This is a really lovely thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise not to as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

*
A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

August’s habit is laundry - attempt to conquer Mt. Washmore!

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Please note that while there is lots of information on the website, from a security point of view we would advise caution with putting any personal details in or downloading anything.

Also a huge thank you to Expletive for the July thread CakeFlowersBrewWine.

I'll make a list tomorrow morning, been out again today which was nice but have not been quite as effective as I should have been at home!

Will also start the September thread tomorrow morning - unless anyone else wants to do it - because I'm away Fri and Sat night, but should be able to keep an eye on it (I'll put a warning on the thread anyway).

IVE, keep resting - not long to go now Grin
Laputa don't forget that right now you should be managing your energy not your task list.
Have to say that DD's school is like IVE's for piercings, one set of earrings only! Has she always wanted her nose done, zoo?
Lisette hope you can fight off the cold and that your DS gets over it quickly too.
Bower that does sound a good day! Can be a real pick-me-up just to have one great day, never underestimate the power of a good day!

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/08/2019 06:01

chic for a little while things have been very hard on her since D's got so unwell we all live him dearly but he cannot cope with much noise/music,outings,friends over, sleep overs the impact on us as a whole is very big.and in pressure of GCSE this year and "d"p she's not slept well in a few months, has twitchy leg spasms throughout her mocks and stress is causing silent reflux play up.in all honesty I didn't think about school.ita small black stud, not ahoop so hardly constitute as health and safety and she was utterly raise herself afterwards I've not seen her that happy in a long time. ..have been trying to convince her to go to doctors, but she's very reluctant...

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/08/2019 06:02

*utterly beside herself

IVEgottheDECAF · 30/08/2019 07:16

Bless zoo as you say if its fairly discreet hopefully she will get away with it. Besides i assume by her age she is aware of schools take on piercings!

TooStressyTooMessy · 30/08/2019 08:08

Morning everyone, have crawled out of bed, meeting a friend later so will start getting ready now. Thanks for offering to start the thread Chic. Big wing flaps to everyone else.

Morning folks. It’s DS’ tenth birthday today. So just going to try and “be present” as I’ve been away with the fairies and/or evil grumpy mum for months. No pressure 🙈

He loves his presents and we also told him we (him DD1 and me) are going to Legoland in 11 days. Huge home ed trip at ridiculously low bargain rates, plus a friend who is also going with three spare seats in her car means it’s affordable and doable for the first time ever. I may regret telling him this far in advance though 😂

IVEgottheDECAF · 30/08/2019 08:21

What a lovely surprise for him laputa! Hope he (and you) have a good day today Grin Cake

Lisette1940 · 30/08/2019 08:48

Laputa that's lovely for you all. Anticipation is the best part of a treat! Although the treat's good too.

Ds wants to go in this morning so hopefully he'll be okay.

Bowerbird5 · 30/08/2019 09:03

Oh WOW Laputa what a great opportunity.

I’ve been thinking about you in this warm weather.

Lisette likewise for cold. DH had one but it seems to have gone. He hasn’t mentioned it but now has a sore back. It is because of all the gardening he has been doing. He has started on the fruit and vegetables now. He dug up all the potatoes yesterday and murdered my black currants. They were overgrown.

Chic Yes it will stand out as a good day for both of us. I am so lucky to have found my BF when we moved here. We just click and all our kids get on great. DS3 is her DS3 BF as well and her DS2 is great friends too.

So yesterday I had a lie in and today getting up at 9am because I start back on Monday. Wish I had retired now. Still at least I know I feel like that. I’m considering some Nanny work and watching the posts on a web page. There is a super job but too far from here.
Yesterday I started on the chest of drawers again. We found some paper on Thursday. So I had painted it with chalky paint a fortnight ago bar the drawer fronts. These have Bacon’s map paper on four but not sure about bottom two. It isn’t as wide as the drawer so I found some scrapbooking paper to cover that bit and think I am going to number them as then it will look like I meant to do it. I picked up numbers at the Range yesterday. I would have done it but a friend rang to ask if she could come over. She was a bit fed up with new boyfriend. Like a lot of men he likes to call the shots. I’m going on the bus to meet her today too and we are off to get some ‘over boulder shoulder holders’ she has a large bosom and so do I so I said I would join her as it might be more fun and I could do with two new ones.
I bought myself a new diary for next week. We usually get loads of dates on first day. It has a page for accounts for every week. I have never seen that before in an academic diary. What a good idea. So I will try to track my spending this term.
Right off for a shower and catch you all later. Wing flaps to those I have missed...SC , Tidy and anyone else.

ChicCroissant · 30/08/2019 13:43

September thread here

Link to the new September thread above - thanks to Stressy for an amazing August thread, top thread leading there!

I am away tonight and tomorrow, but will be back home Sunday night. The hotel has reliable wifi so I should be able to keep an eye on the new thread but if I go quiet, normal service should be resumed on Sunday when I visit relatives with wifi

Bowerbird5 · 30/08/2019 18:23

Thank you Toostressy for August leading.

Chic thanks will pop over.

TooStressyTooMessy · 30/08/2019 19:45

Sounds brilliant Laputa Smile.

Thanks for a lovely August thread everyone. Chic, I can also keep a good eye on the new thread for a few days.

Hey, this thread is still current, I just wanted to do the links with my laptop!

Currently in hotel, have overeaten for tea and have bottle of wine chilling in sink .

TooStressyTooMessy · 30/08/2019 21:18

Ah that makes sense Chic. Enjoy the wine Grin.

Your best friend sounds lovely Bower. Good work on diary buying.

I am starving and not entirely sure what there will be for tea Confused. I have something for DH luckily (I’m not a huge fan of it anyway and not enough for two so he may as well eat it). Might have to resort to something on toast but will go and check the freezer as soon as DDs asleep.

I always get confused with what thread to post on at the end of each month!

ChicCroissant · 30/08/2019 22:48

I just checked my 'I'm on' list and got the first few lines of Stressy's post so it said 'Ah that makes sense Chic, enjoy the wine your best friend' and I thought you knew me well Grin

Chilling in the sink good enough I say.

Yes, friend and I had a giggle. She is of to a wedding tomorrow so that was her need for new bra. She got a set. The knickers matching one of mine were Brazilian so I declined. Like big knickers that stay put!
Full of bargains today we had a Thai lunch and a drink for 6 squid! Bet there isn’t many places you could get that and it was King Prawns with cashews and rice.

Pleased with the jacket it is much nicer than the one I went in for and only £2:25 more. Lovely blue so will look smart for Monday’s meeting and then I will probably keep it for church and meetings.
DH had to go for the car so sent him for M&S pizza. I had the vegan one.

That will be all my spends for a long time. I might need a pair of black trousers but if I can get into the drawers that are stuck then I will have at least one pair in there.
I forgot to make an appointment to get my hair cut. I am hoping they take pity on me tomorrow.
Right I am off to sleep 💤 now.night.

TooStressyTooMessy · 31/08/2019 09:18

Morning all Brew. Last day of August!

Good luck with getting haircut today Bower.

Big wing flaps to everyone, off to start the day in some way!

Hi everyone! Sorry for not posting much recently, has been a bit mad here! Belated happy birthday to your ds Laputa Smile

Well, my dh has almost finished his dissertation and then we can all finally breathe a sigh of relief , just the last push now . The dc are tired today so we aren't doing anything, we had a big day out yesterday so it's nice to be at home.

As for fly lady, hmm, I've kind of abandoned her recently Blush but it's not too bad, I have got rid of loads of old clothes and toys and I'm still sorting through. And dd and ds even tidied and cleaned while I worked one morning last week I couldn't believe it!

IVEgottheDECAF · 31/08/2019 12:50

Fly lady? Fly lady? Who the fuck is fly lady?

TooStressyTooMessy · 31/08/2019 13:12

Laputa belated birthday wishes to D's

I wrote post at 530 and it appears to have disappeared.oh well!
Basic gist- lots walking around for hours gathering up bits n bobs
Plodding on D's room now got the green paint/gloss

I am just sorting freshly washed new uniform and labelling.usually this is don't frantically night before school starts.go me!!
Going sort all stationery shortly and then label lil zoo stuff(dd2 does her own) and sort pe and school bags

This then gives us three more days to be together and have some family time, along with me continuing try to pull D's room together.i can't complete as needs some furniture/shelves etc but at least it'll be evenly painted(took a billion coats of white to knock out the Oxford blue walls and celing so the pale green didn't look yellow)

Lil zoo at sleep over so had some time both other two.we watched a film and dd2 running a bath to soak in(setting up laptop in bathroom doorway do she's going to be there a while I think!)D's and I are going to read some Harry potter

Happy Saturday everyone
I can't believe how fast this month has whizzed by...
My Pinterest boards are trending Halloween and Xmas now!!

TooStressyTooMessy · 31/08/2019 19:09

I love seeing all the autumn stuff come in zoo Smile. Just psyching myself up to start bedtime...
