Fledglings aim for an amazing August - the Flylady thread

...or just aim to get through the summer holidays!

Welcome to the August Flylady thread. This is a really lovely thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise not to as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

*
A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

August’s habit is laundry - attempt to conquer Mt. Washmore!

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Please note that while there is lots of information on the website, from a security point of view we would advise caution with putting any personal details in or downloading anything.

Also a huge thank you to Expletive for the July thread CakeFlowersBrewWine.

And I also now have to start dinner Grin

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/08/2019 20:03

Little ones showered about to eat with dd2

We are getting close to September which is usually a busy thread. Any volunteers to run it? I can carry on if needed.

I thought I was doing well until I saw Zoo's list Grin Awesome work there, Zoo

Small bit of decluttering in back room of doom today, and briefly tamed the kitchen. Will resume the battle tomorrow.

I can do September but also quite happy if anyone else wants to do it.

ExpletiveDelighted · 27/08/2019 07:19

I'd rather not do September, its looking as though its going to be a busy month here, thanks to you both for offering.

Woke up at 4 due to the heat. However we have a fan with a remote control which is bliss, so I put it on and managed to get back to sleep. Got a hectic morning, got to go and feed a friends pets/water plants in a minute then go and fetch our cats from the cattery (we were away last week) all before going to work.

TooStressyTooMessy · 27/08/2019 08:58

Thanks Chic Smile.

Good luck getting all that down before work Expletive!

I'm way behind with everything: house and work. Tooth is fixed but crack was sealed not eradicated. I hope it holds long term.

Wing flaps to all.

TooStressyTooMessy · 27/08/2019 21:03

Glad you got the tooth fixed Lisette. It’s stressful when you know it may not be a permanent solution. I have a couple of teeth with issues that may or may not become problems later and it is always sort of in the back of my mind.

Quiet on here today! Hope everyone is ok.

Sorry to be quiet, I'd like to say it's because I have been flying at jet speed but that is not the case Grin Have done laundry, in advance of the expected rain tomorrow.

Hope the tooth holds Lisette, have they said if there is a long term fix for it?

Out tomorrow, going to (hopefully) combine an appointment with some fun wandering around shops. Thursday, packing for a short trip over the weekend and going out to somewhere, Friday morning at home and then travelling (I can still do the September thread though, not ruling myself out) and back on Sunday. Trying to plan for the week! One more week off school so we are making the most of it.

Catch you tomorrow fledglings - sleep well!

Lisette1940 · 27/08/2019 22:49

The dentist said she drilled away as much as she could but didn't reach the end of the crack. So she sealed it and filled the tooth. It could outlast me and be a permanent fix or I could have problems next month 😜 Next stage would be root canal.
😃It's absolutely fine today #fingerscrossed

LivingInLaputa · 27/08/2019 23:12

No flying here. All I’m doing is adding to the ever increasing list of stuff that needs doing. Probably duplicating several things on there as I’m not even reading it when I add stuff!

Bit overwhelmed tbh. DH had yet more crappy test results from the GP too so it’s all a bit glum here.

Sorry I’m definitely not in a place to run a thread right now, unless people are happy with zero links 😳🙈

Stilllivinginazoo · 28/08/2019 07:03

Lisetteglad tooth's fixed, hope it behaves and doesnt cause any other issues

Despite many attempts I still cannot link to save my life so would be as much use as a chocolate teapot to leadBlushdo feel guilty as a bumble along

So busy yesterday .headed out just before 7am to walk 1.5 hour to shopping centre with big Tesco in hunt for dd2 school trousers (set off early as hot temp expected again)ita a pretty walk as we cross local nature reserve,15 mins on quiet roads then a park with a lake then about 15 more on busy roads then another park type area so it's predominantly in green spaces/no traffic picked up couple bits in sale too.noschool shirts to fit 16+.fuck... Tried peacock whilst in centre.second pair school trousers bought no shirts.assistant recommended Matalan/Asda
Bought Gregg's sausage rolls for the walk back which made me a hero fortime taken to consume.home at 1015,out 5mins later to head dentist ..
All good,D's be refer orthodontist as has not got many adult teeth and one fang is growing thru further back into roof of mouth.hoping he will cope with that!
Bit food top up shop way back.dd1 met us with car
Lunch then dd1 took us shirt hunting
Local Matalan adult white was too fitted even a size 14 was tight across back. had one 2pk long sleeve "generous fit" bit baggy on arms but held in ample bosom so bought, but wanted short sleeved really.sainsbo had nothing that fit and no plain white adult.next had nothing child or adult.asda George other side town had one boys 17yr.long sleeve that fit so I said will make do with two for now.give it a month and try order Asda 17 yr short sleeve online
Dd1 was incredibly patient with us!
That was hellish!!

Cool breeze started 6ish so took zoolets local stroll before tea as house was stifling being shut up all day

We have DS ASD assessment appointment at 1 today.this is it. we will find out if that's our path to travel down for full statement or he's just got mega anxiety issues. his school which has been useless have already if he's ASD they "aren't right fit" as it's huge and Inclusive so no way he would ever be able to Reintegrate....

Hi,
No flying done bar washing yesterday.

I’ve been away for weekend and had a lovely relaxing time.
Came home Monday pm and washed in the morning then a funeral at lunchtime. Local man, lovely person knew for about twenty plus years. Big funeral as he was well known had a business in the city. Very sad it happened quickly post op. Poor wife, they were very close. I don’t want to go to any more funerals this year and I missed a local one because of work.
House still a mess and going back to work on Monday. No day off as
two training days and one my new day off. Bar humbug!
I thought I would have it all sorted. Too much relaxing. I read a whole book while I was away for the weekend.😳 I also bought a bargain handbag😁 at a vintage sale for £25. It is brand new and normally about triple that I think.could have bought more but thought” Where will I put it?” Even DH approved and face lit up when I should him and said that is lovely. He never takes notice usually. He has done loads of the garden while I was away. He finished the summer house bit and it is all barked and old flags for stepping stones. So chuffed and he cut back and pulled out invading shrubs at the top side bed. We would pull out more but it means seeing more of neighbours😤

My new alarm call has just gone off so need to go shower as BF is going for hospital app. And asked me to go with her. It is at ten and about 1 hr 40 min from here then we will go shopping ( ratching) and have lunch and whatever because she has given herself day off from patients. Yeah! She deserves it. She has patients on Wednesday and clients rest of week and has been working in the evenings and weekends to cover for someone x2 on holiday.need to be ready for 8am as we don’t know where this bit of hospital is as it is spread out. Very warm here I haven’t slept properly. Woke about every hour and a half and I was late to bed as we took sons out for ones birthday.
Will make bed and put washing on before I go. DH is here. Feed cat and chicken too. Will pop in tonight.

Laputa sorry to here crappy results. Hoping friend doesn’t as possible OP behind this visit.

I’ve see you still hanging in there. You will be feeling this heat. I had three summer babes. Two June, one yesterday.

LivingInLaputa · 28/08/2019 12:41

FML. Crappy financial news too now. Fucksake. Not entirely sure anything else can go wrong. Hmm

Sorry to hear things are so shitty Laputa FlowersBrew.

That shopping trip sounded very stressful zoo. Hopefully once the kids are actually back to school and the shops can restock then there will be some more shirts etc to choose from if needed. Hope DS’s assessment went as well as it could.

Chic, I am also really tired; think the summer holidays have caught up with me now. Hope you get a better night’s sleep tonight.

Bower, I’m sorry but I had to chuckle at ‘I thought I would have it all sorted’. I bet there are many, many people going back to school / work having the same thought. Your new bag sounds lovely.

Big wing flaps to Ive, Lisette and everyone else.

I’ve not long got in from work, just having something to eat then need to get stuff ready for tomorrow. DDs watching a film with DH.
