Fledglings aim for an amazing August - the Flylady thread

...or just aim to get through the summer holidays!

Welcome to the August Flylady thread. This is a really lovely thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise not to as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

August’s habit is laundry - attempt to conquer Mt. Washmore!

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Please note that while there is lots of information on the website, from a security point of view we would advise caution with putting any personal details in or downloading anything.

Also a huge thank you to Expletive for the July thread CakeFlowersBrewWine.

We did the school shoes today - DD's feet have grown a little but were a difficult fit width-wise and only one pair of shoes didn't flap off the back of her feet! Luckily she liked that pair, but the whole thing took ages!

Lovely sunny weather here today, should hang some laundry out in the late afternoon sunshine.

Tidyhomewannabe · 23/08/2019 15:18

Tada
Sorted out the dining table which is now fully clear (it's been bugging me for ages - it only took about 10 mins to sort !!)
Washing hung outside

Stilllivinginazoo · 23/08/2019 15:48

stressy in all fairness first time I think I've washed these curtains and they've been hanging there for a loooong timeBlushnets probably last summer, and looked awful.they look much brighter now and it feels lighter in here now too!!

Hot here, half melted collecting lil zoo,who was very sweaty after zorbing this afternoon!!

DD of out shortly on sleepover so iust ho and get her to help put curtains from front room back up before she disappears!!

I've been so busy and so tired recently, not really keeping up with anything sorry for being AWOL!

Stilllivinginazoo · 24/08/2019 11:19

Tada
Fed cats
Bleach lav
Walk cats in back garden(both young girls, although one just crawls on her tummy at mo as very timid but SO curious)
Breakfast
Sweep kitchen floor
Empty bins
Clean church
Realise one cats had runny poo
Disinfect littertray
Spot poo paw prints on lil zoo bedding
Wash bedding

Honestly I seem to be washing someone's bed every couple of days from either cat sick/fur balls or poo paw prints...starting to get me down.they both hungry, and playful/seem ok in themselves so no idea which one(or both?)is doing it..tabby insists drinking out bath plughole at intervals and nelly eats random crap off floor(and she has a sensitive tum so prone to upsets if eats wheat/dairy etc)so could either/both of them

Anyone has any words of wisdom please share!!

TooStressyTooMessy · 24/08/2019 11:46

Hi foxes Smile.

zoo, no wisdom but I shall have a think!

Sorry I haven't checked the dance shoes yet, but will gear myself up to getting DD to try hers on and check what fits.

A little tidying done today, really gorgeous day with hot sun here.

Stilllivinginazoo · 24/08/2019 17:03

Tada
Sorted and photographed all lil zoo my lil pony stuff to be sold and the Playmobil vet stuff has been photographed and put on FB

Stilllivinginazoo · 24/08/2019 17:04

Also started two threads.one asking what to look for in a ballet school, the other how to find a good maths tutor

My life is so bloody rock and rollGrin

IVEgottheDECAF · 24/08/2019 17:23

My dd had one of the pony sets for xmas zoo over £60 and that was on offer, and she never plays with it Hmm

Stilllivinginazoo · 24/08/2019 18:18

I've what annoys me about mlp is the quality,or lack there of...amount bigger sets that have flimsy bits bloody cardboard and they don't lock together well/fall apart.so glad we are out of that phase now!!(but sad she's growing up so fast)

TooStressyTooMessy · 24/08/2019 19:34

I am so ready for the end of the summer holidays. That is all.

Stilllivinginazoo · 24/08/2019 19:44

I am sad mum that loves having them home in the summer and miss them in september....

ChicCroissant · 24/08/2019 19:45

I love the long summer holidays too, has it been a bad day Stressy? It does happen.

DD has a MLP house that clips together (plastic) and I don't think she's played with it much either, it is on my hitlist ....

TooStressyTooMessy · 24/08/2019 20:40

Thanks both . Today has been trying yes Grin. It’s just the bickering and fighting. Both DDs do much better with structure and the summer holidays are just too long. DD1 said yesterday she has had enough. I would love to have an extra week off at Christmas or one of the half terms and less in summer. Christmas always seems such a rush with no time to have festive fun with them then summer drags. I’m not a summer person at the best of times and both DDs would rather have less holidays at summer and more through the year. But that’s the way it is. I am reading my sibling rivalry book again for some tips.

On the plus side I have managed to go through some uniform with both DDs so have a pile that I can look through tonight and organise. Plus DD1’s new shoes arrived today. Managed to also do some tidying this morning. I have a load of physio exercises I am meant to be doing but they are really fine consuming so I have given up over the summer and as a result feel very stiff. Just feeling sorry for myself really but I know I should be grateful for what we have etc. Will stop whinging now as DD2 has just fallen asleep!

Chic, thanks, no worries about the two shoes. No rush as I am trying a friend’s on tomorrow in the hope of borrowing hers just for the first class. After that I should know if I love it or hate it!

zoo, I have replied in a long rambling post on your dance thread.

OP posts:
Stilllivinginazoo · 24/08/2019 20:56

stressy that does sound like a good reason to have had enough.mine weren't to bad for bickering amongst themselves at that agebut it has caught up with me noweven one breathing seems to annoy one or another of them somedays!!
I'm not a summer person either.and for some kids heat makes them extra arsey

ChicCroissant · 24/08/2019 21:51

zoo do you need a leotard for the tryout class? What size is your DD and have they mentioned a colour for the uniform?

Stilllivinginazoo · 24/08/2019 23:19

chic t shirt and leggings for assessment.shoes, tight and bag from local dance shop. leotard sold at school

Tidyhomewannabe · 25/08/2019 05:57

Too I hope today is a better day , my older 2 bicker, I leave them to sort it out between themselves mostly unless it goes too far, it is frustrating at times isn't it !

Zoo when will dd try ballet class ? Is she excited?

Didn't get much done yesterday , dancing and football in the morning , took the kids to macdonalds afterwards as a rare treat (£18!! I could make so many meals that would be so much nicer for that amount Shock) then we came home and pumped up the paddling pool and stayed outside for the afternoon till about 6. The only chore related jobs was cooking tea and tidying the garden toys. Hoping to spend all day outside again, I really don't want the holidays to be over ! I feel like they've gone super quick !!

Stilllivinginazoo · 25/08/2019 06:29

tidy she goes on September 12th(they return from summer break on the 9th and as she wants to continue the open ballet class we are going to go Thursday evenings so are going straight to that class for her assessment/taster so she has an idea of the kids ages etc she will be with)and very excited!!

Didn't get much sleep here (even less than usual) delightful combo of period pain and too warm

Tidyhomewannabe · 25/08/2019 07:01

I didn't sleep much either zoo, haven't done for a while , I seem to have a night or 2 with just 4/5 hours sleep and then a night where I sleep solid and can't wake up in the morning, it's becoming a bit of a cycle - I'm guessing mines stress related. Period pain is horrible, I hope it eases for you as the day goes on. Take it easy today if you can Thanks
