Fledglings aim for an amazing August - the Flylady thread

...or just aim to get through the summer holidays!

Welcome to the August Flylady thread. This is a really lovely thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise not to as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

*
A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

August’s habit is laundry - attempt to conquer Mt. Washmore!

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.
**

Please note that while there is lots of information on the website, from a security point of view we would advise caution with putting any personal details in or downloading anything.

Also a huge thank you to Expletive for the July thread CakeFlowersBrewWine.

LivingInLaputa · 25/08/2019 21:17

Hey

Things got bad, was in hospital today. Was well looked after. Zero flying, obviously. But I found out I finally have the referral I need, it even went to the service manager, and it said something about “aware of breach dates” - is it stressy who is NHS here, do you know what that might mean in a MH context please?

I’m now watching the big two dance to Kpop videos while the toddler runs about naked Hmm

ChicCroissant · 25/08/2019 21:25

Sorry to hear things got so bad Laputa, did you wait long in A&E (I know they have target times).

Gorgeous day weather-wise here, had a BBQ to make the most of kit. Kitchen looks like there has been some kind of fight and I'm not sure who won.

Lisette1940 · 25/08/2019 21:32

💐 Laputa

Cut hedge and weeded front garden. Very hot today.

ExpletiveDelighted · 25/08/2019 21:35

Way too hot here today (31°). Managed three loads of washing and a bit of tidying but it was too hot to do anything outside apart from put the washing out. I went for a short walk with a friend first thing this morning and came back dripping with sweat, yuck. DS cooked dinner, and we did some of his school work together. Now flopped.

I'm with you Zoo - bring on autumn. Your tea sounds nice.

Ive - hope you're ok in this heat.

Laputa - sorry you've had to get to this point before you get the help you need, hope things move on a bit faster now.

TooStressyTooMessy · 25/08/2019 21:38

Laputa Flowers.

Yes, I’m NHS but should disclaim I am not an expert on waiting times / dates.

Breach is basically how they explain someone has been waiting too long. Eg if you wait longer than 4 hours in A&E you breach (many times there are good clinical reasons for this such as waiting for the appropriate expert / bed and I disagree with 4 hours as a blind target). Anyway, if they are talking about breach dates then it implies they are talking more about your wait to access MH help rather than an A&E type wait. Does that seem likely? I

Out of context of the rest of the letter / paperwork, “aware of breach dates” to me means you have either breached (waited longer than ‘acceptable’ or simply that you or the letter writer is aware of how long it is until you breach. As in, how long do you have on the calendar until you are seen / how long have you waited past the ‘acceptable’ date.

In a nutshell, when you breach you go over the agreed time limit for waiting. Breach dates would be the date that happens. I’m afraid people breach all the time. To me it wouldn’t mean anything different in mental health, just still to say that is when you would breach your waiting time. I am not in mental health though so cannot be sure.

Does any of that make sense. Again (my standard disclaimer!) I am not an expert on this.

I’m going to link to something explaining breach times in England but please don’t take it as gospel as things do get updated.

Here is some reading Laputa.

OP posts:
TooStressyTooMessy · 25/08/2019 21:59

If you think about breaching it basically means you go over / through the boundary / barrier. So if you breach you go over the line or the boundary that is the ‘maximum’ time you should be waiting.

LivingInLaputa · 26/08/2019 01:27

Thank you so much all, and thank you stressy for the info, it’s really helpful! From the context of what else he said (as far as I could make out, I struggle to take info in at the best of times!) it sounds like they had realised they fucked up big time so that may be the “already passed breach date” thing. This letter was written a few days ago, I just didn’t know about it until today. Either way looks like an appt is imminent and that is unbelievably good to hear!

Can’t sleep! They did give me tablets for a few days but it’s unlikely I can feed Cagletini on them so I need to research and then figure out what to do

LivingInLaputa · 26/08/2019 01:31

And no I was treated really well in the hospital actually, I was horrifically nervous about going as I was half convinced they’d dismiss me. Triage nurse put me in a separate non medical room to wait for the psych staff rather than sending me back to the waiting room (wait time there for general medical stuff was 3.5hrs!), and when he arrived he spent well over an hour just talking with me, making loads of notes, he was really great. Restored my faith in the system a bit TBH.

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/08/2019 05:15

LivingInLaputa · 26/08/2019 05:27

DD1 has been learning korean :o she has a couple of notebooks rapidly filling up with all those circles and lines. I’m just leaving her to it :o she draws stuff from videos too. She’s also now getting into Thai pop thanks to DSD (some is very catchy!) and they’ve been watching a drama together (can’t remember if it’s korean or Thai). The obsession is rather taking over but at least she’s doing interesting things with it I suppose 😂

I’m up feeding the toddler and watching king of the hill.

Well done to DS! My anxiety doesn’t like the heat either.

Re naked toddler, we pretty much leave her to it as accidents are very rare 😱😱😱 she asks for a nappy on when she needs to go! Considering the other two weren’t aware of this until around third birthdays I’m still shocked.

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/08/2019 08:09

Hello all. Trying to do some sorting out so school stuff and DDs’ rooms today.

foxessocks · 26/08/2019 14:24

I've I remember feeling like that with ds, it was really hot when I had him too and I think it was definitely a weather related feeling!!

Talking of which ds is 3 in just over a week how did that happen?! Shock

Today I've been trying to do small bursts of housework and then sitting back down to cool off it seems to be working fairly well as a solution! It always amazes me how much I can do in 15 minutes when I really try!

TooStressyTooMessy · 26/08/2019 16:54

Wow foxes. 3!

I have nearly gone through all school uniform and bags etc. Need to tidy stuff away, sort out outgrown uniform, make a list of anything still needed etc.

Next though I need to start tea.
