Fledglings aim for an amazing August - the Flylady thread

...or just aim to get through the summer holidays!

Welcome to the August Flylady thread. This is a really lovely thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise not to as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

August’s habit is laundry - attempt to conquer Mt. Washmore!

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Please note that while there is lots of information on the website, from a security point of view we would advise caution with putting any personal details in or downloading anything.

Also a huge thank you to Expletive for the July thread CakeFlowersBrewWine.

Ds has first virus of the academic year. He's back a week, exactly. 😜 Sore throat, cough and looks miserable but no temp. He was perfectly fine all summer. Means we get it for the weekend 😂.

Spent today walking around in a daze but accomplished ironing, hoovering, lots of laundry.

Hope you are feeling more yourself Laputa

I've baby still toasty inside?

Lisette1940 · 28/08/2019 22:02

zoo my sister had lots of gaps due to missing adult teeth. I had too many teeth and not enough space.
Hope your dear lad's appointment goes well and that they sort out things for him with school etc. Poor lamb. He seems like a lovely kid from what I read about him.

Bowerbird5 · 28/08/2019 23:07

Zoo I hope you get it sorted too.

Toostressy glad it amused you.😁 I think I had thought I would retire then whoops I didn’t but wish I had. I was thinking some jobs will be done in September.

So had a brilliant day out with bestie. We went to her appointment first then off to crack the browsing and shopping. Went to antique shops, xcharity shops, very expensive shops and a few in between. Had a late lunch as we were flagging and it was delicious. They whole day was a success. BF bought a handbag. I bought a small, flat one for £20. I also bought a long cardio top thing which went perfectly with my dress. A top for work for £12.if it fits it will go with the trousers from last week. I wanted a pair of shoes found some but they didn’t have my size.
Right I am tired need to sleep. Oh and on the way down I found some map paper.

Lisette1940 · 28/08/2019 23:09

Sounds like a lovely day Bower one with all the best things, namely a good friend, a matter and nice food.

Lisette1940 · 28/08/2019 23:10

A natter. Ruddy autocorrect. 😳

LivingInLaputa · 28/08/2019 23:22

Right well having had a bit of a word with myself I managed to do a couple of very small things on the to do list and I actually read it and deleted some other bits that I’d either written twice 😳 or already done. I’ve reorganised some of the list too into categories and have chosen a few bits to attempt tomorrow. We have a play date first though which I’m nervous about, house is a mess. And we all really need showers in the morning too.

LivingInLaputa · 28/08/2019 23:23

Really fucking exhausted though and not sure what I’ll actually cope with over the next few weeks. Hey ho.

Stilllivinginazoo · 29/08/2019 06:32

Little things count LaputaFlowers
Power of three?

Lisette one week in someone always brings in a cold here

I've is your due date very very soon

Thanks for all good wishes ds has been Luton waiting listfor autism observational test.

Stilllivinginazoo · 29/08/2019 06:33

IVEgottheDECAF · 29/08/2019 07:23

Baby is still tucked up nice and snug. 7 sleeps til due date......never made it past 39+6.....

Lisette1940 · 29/08/2019 08:25

Yep, off school this morning. Looks wretched. I'm working from home so. I've sent him in before like this when he's insisted that he wants to go and then had the school call me at around 11.30 to take him home.

IVEgottheDECAF · 29/08/2019 08:31

Back-to-school-itus!

Hope he feels better soon lisette

LivingInLaputa · 29/08/2019 08:32

Final countdown hopefully ive!
I cancelled the play date as friend (who I’ve not seen in a few years) offered to reschedule. Not sure whether to feel more guilty about changing plans or more proud of myself for looking after myself.

IVEgottheDECAF · 29/08/2019 08:34

Proud laputa You need to prioritise yourself and your friend gets that Flowers

Lisette1940 · 29/08/2019 08:38

Don't feel bad about changing plans Laputa - life's all about changing direction when you have to. It's not something you'll dwell on in a week's time. You are right to look after yourself - putting your oxygen mask on before attending to others as they advise.

Now I've started sneezing

TooStressyTooMessy · 29/08/2019 09:25
