Fledglings Fly as we reach July

Welcome to the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine, chat and mutual support along the way. Quite a few of us have been on here for a while, so for that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't, and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are very welcome!

Every day I will post a link to the Flyaldy launchpad, which summarises everything you need to know on a daily basis if you want to follow the system strictly. Most of us do not follow it strictly but adapt it tou our individual circumstances.

Flylady flags up as a Not Secure website on some browsers, so best to avoid entering any personal information and take care with downloads/links.

More information on getting started available:
here (containing baby-steps!) but please don't hesitate to ask if you have any further qs.

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for starting a routine and overcoming the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - basic routine + more in depth tasks
-Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage).
You can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level.
-Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo etc etc) let's be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's, and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't suit you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual cake and wine and lots of support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows ( but again, please note we advise only looking at the pdfs and not downloading them ):

** launch pad (general info) here

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home) here

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends) here

** info about zones (explanation of how zones work) here

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself) here

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task) here

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!) here

Oh and not forgetting "habit of the month" which for July is : not published yet but likely to be Swish and Swipe

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Funny you should say that zoo i have just bribed dc1+2 to do a few jobs for me! And dc3 dried and put away the knives and forks for me.

Dp is out. I will probably just have a sandwich and some gaviscon. Yum.

Lisette1940 · 22/07/2019 20:01

Not my best day at work. I got angry and shouted at someone. I have apologised as they have to me because it was their cockup. But feeling very small and stupid. I never lose my temper and am generally seen as helpful. Feels wrong in general and very wrong for me as I'm not like that. Mortified.

No flying done. Fixed the shower though.

I have done nothing today, cooked the tea (fish fingers and pasta) and that's about it. A lovely first chilled day - although it is hot, hot, hot tonight!

I will catch you tomorrow.

TooStressyTooMessy · 22/07/2019 22:37

Lisette Flowers.

Tea tonight was quiche, new potatoes and salad. Looked in the fridge this morning and saw loads of salad in there plus some potatoes. Kids had sandwich tea before gymnastics so picked up a quiche when we grabbed milk and chucked it in the oven.

Stilllivinginazoo · 23/07/2019 04:56

Lisette you are only human and it's ok to lose it occasionallyFlowersthe important bit is recognising it and apologising, which you did.allow yourself to let it go and be kind to yourself

Ive well done getting troops involved.dd2 takesgavisconfor silent reflux.lil zoo ment to but gags as they both take the extra thick one....

Yet again insomnia strikes...shall get up in a mo

Lisette1940 · 23/07/2019 05:47

Thanks. I won't be in trouble luckily but we have incompetence further up the food chain which has been ongoing and it's all gone splat down my end.

Such a good idea baking early zoo! I don't get up early enough (I know you don't have much choice but well done for making good use of the time!)

Stilllivinginazoo · 23/07/2019 07:34

Well my deliciously ella muffins have failed miserably...ment to be courgette and red pepper.i thought it looked like a lot liquid for two unsqueezed courgettes to go in so sub one out for a carrot but it had an hour and was hard outside but soggy in middle still.they smell spectacular(paprika, cumin, coriander and basil in them)so shall have a think and a liquid rejig.cross I've wasted so much ingredients though!

Think I shall now tackle the bathroom (full blitz) dd2 up,fed and getting dressed.lil zoo didn't settle til late so nasty feeling going to miss her leavers assembly and then prom tonightSad

IVEgottheDECAF · 23/07/2019 07:41

zoo poor lil zoo Sad how does she feel about missing out! Dc1 would have been really upset to miss all his leavers stuff!

Dc4 didnt wake up til gone 7 and all others still in bed! My back is sore and all i have managed so far is to swig some coke down and sit on sofa!

Lisette1940 · 23/07/2019 08:12

I think you have an honourable discharge from flying I've

ChicCroissant · 23/07/2019 09:25

Can you cut the muffins in half and toast them, zoo to counteract the soggy middle? I do hate recipes that don't work [mad] You need to eat and sleep yourself as well though.

I will make more effort today, another glorious day weather-wise. Have arranged to meet up with someone next week which will be lovely. IVE you've done more than me this morning, I've toasted my own croissant, made some toast for DD and cut up a pain au choc (carb crazy breakfast). Now trying to get myself organised for the week. Lists will be made and ignored

Need to pay a bill, order a school skirt for my daughter, totally reorganise the house - nothing too taxing on a hot day Grin

Catch you later ladies.

Lisette1940 · 23/07/2019 09:35

That sounds like life advice 'you need to toast your own croissant' Grin

ChicCroissant · 23/07/2019 09:36

Grin I don't think I'll be starring on YouTube anytime shortly with that gem Grin

IVEgottheDECAF · 23/07/2019 10:20

I would LOVE to check out from attempting to fly however i need to achieve HV ready house in two days. If my house wasnt full of DC this would be much more achievable

.

Long, hot day today. I am working tomorrow and although it will be a hot, sticky day and what is planned is not something I love doing, I have to say I am looking forward to the break!

ExpletiveDelighted · 23/07/2019 22:14

Sorry, AWOL again. It's too hot. Just been up to water the allotment and got bitten by bugs and hot and sweaty. Stopped to chat to half the street on the way home though, everyone was out watering, packing cars etc, so that was nice.

DH is in the doghouse. He had the day off today and I came home and said "what are all those marks on the kitchen floor?" He had been using a Sharpie pen which wasn't working very well so had given it a really hard shake with the lid off and it had made millions of tiny splatters all over the floor, cupboards, dishwasher, washing machine bin. Sharpie, indelible, great. Left him to sort that out.

Another hot one here today, I have the doors open since 7.30am trying to keep the place cool which is not doing much for my hay fever!

Going out later this morning, have washed up, tidied a bit and turned fans on while it is not unbearably hot.

It is so warm that our tropical fish tank is running a bit hot too - I don't normally get involved in the maintenance of that but as DH is away I did a bit of a water change on that last night as well. I have looked up emergency measures in case it gets any hotter today although DH is due back later on tonight.

Sharpie - not a court in the land would convict you Expletive Angry
