Fledglings Fly as we reach July

Welcome to the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine, chat and mutual support along the way. Quite a few of us have been on here for a while, so for that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't, and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are very welcome!

Every day I will post a link to the Flyaldy launchpad, which summarises everything you need to know on a daily basis if you want to follow the system strictly. Most of us do not follow it strictly but adapt it tou our individual circumstances.

Flylady flags up as a Not Secure website on some browsers, so best to avoid entering any personal information and take care with downloads/links.

More information on getting started available:
here (containing baby-steps!) but please don't hesitate to ask if you have any further qs.

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for starting a routine and overcoming the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - basic routine + more in depth tasks
-Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage).
You can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level.
-Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo etc etc) let's be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's, and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't suit you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual cake and wine and lots of support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows ( but again, please note we advise only looking at the pdfs and not downloading them ):

** launch pad (general info) here

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home) here

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends) here

** info about zones (explanation of how zones work) here

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself) here

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task) here

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!) here

Oh and not forgetting "habit of the month" which for July is : not published yet but likely to be Swish and Swipe

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Morning,
ED I would be tempted to draw a Sharpie moustache on his face while sleeping.

Zoo I hope you told her. You are very patient. Your DP would be annoying me. I keep mum a lot with DH so I know how difficult it is.

I’ve HV never came until eleventh day when mine were born and with three and four she hardly bothered. About two or three visits in four years. It is a motivation to get sorted. I would enlist some family and friends to help. Play the pregnant card!😅

Well I have unexpectedly had a few days away. My niece has been in hospital. DH was home so able to cat 🐈 and 🐓 sit. So I took niece away to Lakes for a few days. We were able to stay where I disappear to on weekends for nominal fee. So we visited a Vintage fair, Brentwood - Ruskin’s home and Beatrix Potter’s Hilltop. Drove over the pass in lovely weather. About four miles from home had a blow out on M6 very scary. Then her train was an hour late. We had a lovely few days together. She is a gorgeous girl. I haven’t seen her much so we have reconnected recently as she came to stay when DD was here.
So she looks a lot better and I feel a lot better too.

Union advised that I didn’t resign yet. I need to make a decision before the 31st if I am not returning. Hmm! Hoping to see Union by then.

I'm not got in hot weather!

foxessocks · 24/07/2019 18:01

*good

Stilllivinginazoo · 24/07/2019 21:19

I hate being cold and wet but at least you can dry off and warm up.too hot and I'm just a grumpy irritable mass...sorry #not sorry for sunlovers of the group ... roll on winter!!

TooStressyTooMessy · 24/07/2019 22:06

Oh zoo Flowers. I am also #sorrynotsorry about my hatred for summer. Lucked out today as work inside out of the sun was much easier than managing DDs in this heat.

I am also terrible for wasting time staring into space or on MN foxes. It really annoys me about myself as I would be much better to just decide to take a break at an allocated time and enjoy the break.

Glad to hear you had a nice time with your niece Bower.

No flying achieved today but I am hopeful for tomorrow.

Big wing flaps to all.

Bowerbird5 · 24/07/2019 23:33

Sorry lov,e the good weather. I was hot waiting on side of motorway for pick up.

Ta Das
Cleaned all of sitting room especially around fireplace. Removed items that shouldn’t be in there and vacuumed and dusted. Put my candle melt on that on of the kids bought me. It is lovely a fresh citrusy smell. I didn’t have one like this so it was a much appreciated gift. I will miss him. He wrote a wonderful message in my card. He was a quiet boy so I was surprised by his lovely message and said he would miss me. It will remind me of him every time I use it.

Bowerbird5 · 24/07/2019 23:36

Tidied garden path near the house.

Got through four loads of washing.

Hope to clean boudoir tomorrow.

ExpletiveDelighted · 25/07/2019 00:04

Zero Flying, Zero thread leading, sorry. Too hot. Tired after thunderstorms last night.

Went to see The Lion King tonight, was nice.

OP posts:
ChicCroissant · 25/07/2019 00:15

DD and I slept through the thunderstorms last night - my neighbours couldn't believe it! Still hot tonight, will now attempt sleep.

Had a nice day today, factor 50 helped in the sun. Have a hair appointment tomorrow which will be a bit warm in this weather. Not much flying here either, was out most of the day. Bonus holiday sounds nice bower and Envy at the Lion King Expletive

Bowerbird5 · 25/07/2019 06:52

Woken early by birds.

Boudoir
Need to dust.
Put two baskets of washing away.
General tidy up. Handbags which are outx3
DH said I must have too many clothes. He has jackets which he stuffs down the side of his wardrobe . It looks ridiculous so might do that while he is away. He has too many jackets. We both need to de clutter clothing.

Will plant up the bed that DH and DDs friend cleared.
Plan a siesta during the day.

LivingInLaputa · 25/07/2019 07:43

Been a bit absent. Things are shit here. Feeling rather wrung out this morning. Had a loooong talk with DH last night. We’ve always had an easy, totally loved up relationship in the 16ish years we’ve been together, got through tough times etc. Until this year. Things are so stressful, this is the hardest year we’ve ever had and it’s really having an impact on our relationship now. Had a very frank discussion about this that he really wasn’t expecting. But we’ve agreed that while we’ve been lucky to never really need to “work on our relationship” before, things have changed now and we do need to, or we are risking it breaking down, which neither of us want at all. :(

Lisette1940 · 25/07/2019 09:44

Laputa actually you're both approaching the relationship maturely and planning ahead to keep stability. I am so sorry you are both having such a difficult year. Life can be very unsettling. I unravelled a bit this week and had a long think yesterday about life direction. Need more perspective. These are not easy times.

Lisette1940 · 25/07/2019 09:46

I didn't toast my own croissant this morning - I unwrapped my own twix!

LivingInLaputa · 25/07/2019 11:26

I nearly had a gold bar for breakfast (those caramelly white chocolate things not an actual ingot...) so no judgment here! Although I suspect the coco pops weren’t much better nutritionally.

And thank you, I think we will get there in the end but with both of us struggling so much MH wise - and things potentially getting harder for DH if he gets therapy (severe CPTSD) we need to be aware

Bowerbird5 · 25/07/2019 11:54

Sorry to hear that Laputa BUT remember you have had a lot of stress too.

Two of the biggest stresses apparently are having a baby and house move and you have done both in the last ? 18mths? On top of personal health and a new routine due to move.I think you are doing pretty bloody well considering.
You had a big de -clutter before move and have kids to organise to activities as well as Home Schooling! You have lots of positives like taking time for swimming /exercise as well. Maybe try to do something once a week for the two of you even if it is only a walk in the park.

The thing is you have recognised it and he is also willing to work on it.DH never would. I have spent a lot of time agonising over our relationship whereas he isn't bothered.
Relationships do change too and if you have been loved up for 16 years I think that is amazing. Take time out if you can get someone to babysit maybe a swap? We're here if you need us. We have missed you.

Stilllivinginazoo · 25/07/2019 11:59

Laputa at least you acknowledge the need to work on things!dp sees we are okHmm

Tada
Wash on
Reload ice cube trays
Put bag rice in freezer
Wash up
Throw open all windows, set zoolets task watch kits don't jump out
Fan on
Pig out girls room
Hung wash out
More wash on
Bit gardening, keep eye out for spraying washing cat
Scrub path by back door with yard broom and soapy water
Rinse kettle water
Bring dry wash in

Bowerbird5 · 25/07/2019 12:02

Ta Das
put sheets out last night and brought them in.

Watered tomatoes and indoor plants.

Vacuumed sitting room as I made a mess last night eating Ferrero collection present from one of my lovelies.

Been in summerhouse which is roasting but if I positioned myself right there was a slight breeze.
Been for shower can recommend a cool shower and hair wash.
Don't want to be mean but our house is lovely and cool as it is a stone cottage. Should be cleaning but it is so lovely it seems mad to be indoors when storms are forecast in a few days. Have taken a basket out of bathroom to hose and dry then sort toiletries.
Have last load of washing in.
Lunch
Salad, Polish sausage, eggs, olives if DH hasn't eaten them all. Then I have a Calipo in the freezer.
Expected hottest day to break record in this county.Radio.

ChicCroissant · 25/07/2019 16:39

Love the hillbilly aircon idea zoo, I may try that myself!

Fish tank running rather hot, have fan blowing on it now.

Flowers Laputa Flowers

I forgot to toast my own croissant this morning Blush DD is feeling a little poorly today and I had an appointment so left her at home for a bit. As I rocked up to the hairdressers I wondered why my stomach was rumbling and then realised I hadn't had any breakfast! Spent the time filing and painting my nails instead Blush

No flying. Too hot. Have hung washing out and run dishwasher whilst avoiding the kitchen.

foxessocks · 25/07/2019 17:06

Just been to the opticians and supermarket it was so lovely and cool in there!!

Laputa I agree with what everyone else says Flowers

Tonight's dinner is basically bread and cheese Smile have stocked up on ice cream too!

Stilllivinginazoo · 25/07/2019 17:23

We are also having bread and cheese foxes.think few tomatoes etc in salad drawer left from the raid at lunch time to accompany tuna/chickpea and cream cheese tuna substitute I made with yet more bread
I did make a jelly and add fruit as we out if lollies/ice cream...

Heard phrase on MN earlier I need to share "it's as hot as Satan's arsehole"😂😂😂

Been hunting naice salad type recipes to try for lunches whilst zoolets on holiday this afternoon whilst girls have play with paints and D's Hama beads...he had escape upstairs as (quiet) fan drives him pottybut has reluctantly had to suck it up as upstairs is soon hot.i suspect we all be sleeping on living room floor on the laminate tonight if isn't any cooler!

The girls have now re-entered back garden now predominantly in shade armed rinsed Dettol trigger spray bottles full cold water as water guns for a duel!the misting action dries very quickly and is nicely cooling, but still doesn't make it feel any less hot out there to me old that I am there is an ice pole each on re-entryGrin

IVEgottheDECAF · 25/07/2019 17:24

ITS TOO FUCKING HOT

Lisette1940 · 25/07/2019 18:00

🤣 about Satan. It is hot even in these far north regions where I am based. Thunder storm warning issued.

You must be very hot I've particularly with the bump.

Stilllivinginazoo · 25/07/2019 20:00

How much longer left I've?Flowers

TooStressyTooMessy · 25/07/2019 20:30

Laputa Flowers. I hope this doesn’t seem to make light of anything as it sounds as if things are so hard for you but I was actually coming on here to say that Better Things series 2 is on iPlayer. Think I remember you liked it? Not watched it yet as just binge watched series 1 in preparation.

Ive, it must be so hard in this heat!

I had some child free time today so tried to make the most of it and get as much done as possible.

Ta da:-
Took car to vets for her check up and injections - all ok Smile.

Did physio exercises but didn’t go for run as far too hot
Put away lots of clean laundry plus washed as much as possible including towels
Changed our bedsheets
Prepped some stuff for a day out tomorrow
Went through all schoolwork that was brought home so DH can look at it then it can be put away.

Glad you managed to find some cool air foxes! Big waves to everyone else.
