Fledglings awaiting April organisation... and a plan - the Flylady thread

TooStressyTooMessy · 31/03/2019 10:12

Welcome to the April Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

April’s habit is usually making your bed which is a nice easy one Smile.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to Chic for a lovely March thread as always.

Thank you so much for further explanation Chic! I don't receive e-mails on my ancient phone but will check with dh again.

Oh no, poor dc4 I've and poor you. Hope he feels better very soon! And that no one else succumbs! [Hands over large bottle of Dettol].

Agree Expletive although I miss the activities (a bit) I definitely do not miss the school run! Very liberating indeed without it!

Glad you had a lovely evening Toostressy and sorry about your feet.

Expletive , Foxes, Toostressy I am with you all on the decluttering front! Going to try and have a real go at it throughout May anyway! Good luck everyone!

Wing flaps to Mog and everyone else! Have a lovely Sunday fledglings!

Shadycorner · 28/04/2019 07:07

X post

Oh your poor lad I've Sad. Brilliantly done re: de decluttering with everything else you have on! Hope Teddy survives wash. I've just bought some of those vacuum bags for storing guest duvets. Bit worried they won't bounce back, but I am assured they do.

S'alright Zoo I'll come and murder your "d"p for you! Angry. How many times does he let you stagger back with heavy bags of shopping before the penny drops Angry? If it were me ie uncharitable I'd be serving him an empty plate at dinner saying "sorry, couldn't carry your portion".

I am in a grump. We should be in the country but for various (church and tutor related) reasons we're not . First world prob but meh.

Stilllivinginazoo · 28/04/2019 07:16

"cant carry your portion" love it SCGrin
I'd be grumpy stuck in town given chance escaping to somewhere quite, greener and with newborn lambs and horses
The plan today is buy bare minimum, nothing special he loves numpty that I am I spoil everyone with food normally and focus my time on zoolets.i shall assume he will want to Xbox with D's so at least that's one down and I can concentrate on the girls wholeheartedly

On decluttering front we are failing dreadfully!!after great guns prior to church sale I've stopped again.like stressy we are approaching the "harder to get rid of/sentimentalstuff" and I'm overwhelmed rabbit in headlights.need get my bum moving on that again this week
I seriously need take my own advice and start sorting myself out.im run ragged, and still getting nowhere fast
I guess forward planning D's school stuff will give me a few minutes here and there where he's occupied and able to do things by himself.i love him to bits, but bloody hell he's hardwork, and watch him become more stressed and less able to express what's bothering him is heartbreaking
Enough of the pityparade.onwards and upwards!!

Stilllivinginazoo · 28/04/2019 07:20

Tada
Wash in
Fed cats
Start sort shopping bags dumped on table
Two bags sorted,two to go

To do
Sort under computer table
Sort around bookcase/games
Sort under dining table

Keep trying take laundry

Kitchen needs a once over

Bathrooms a filthfest

I have until 9 to get straighten out before his nibbs is underfoot so I'd best put me back into it and scurry off...

Stilllivinginazoo · 28/04/2019 07:21

How does control laundry become take?

Lisette1940 · 28/04/2019 07:37

Sorry to hear of illness with little one I've. Heavy cold here with Ds and dh.

Hedge got finished and just a little bit of weeding to go. Not sue whether to bother with other busy because it's due to be removed to create path. Need to chase garden services for quotes. Painter still not back either with quote.

Will finish zone 4 and do general tidy in readiness for zone 5.

Stilllivinginazoo · 28/04/2019 07:38

Aaaaand hes text not coming.hes "got shopping to do for my own food and easy to park near my flat if I do it on weekends"(so can use car his own food) someone tie me up quickly before I go choke him withy bare hands!!Angry

Shadycorner · 28/04/2019 07:39

More than understandable it's difficult to carve out time for decluttering when ds requires so much of your attention Zoo and when there's so much general day to day stuff to do, just to keep basics going! Just to keep everyone fed, no one dead and in clean clothes on your own, day in day out, is a huge achievement I reckon Flowers

Shadycorner · 28/04/2019 07:42

time to bring out medieval rusty pike Zoo

Hope your family feel better soon Lisette

IVEgottheDECAF · 28/04/2019 07:53

Bloody hell zoo Angry

Wtf does he actually do for you / HIS dc!?

More sick Sad

Stilllivinginazoo · 28/04/2019 08:06

what does he do
Lately?
Make promises don't keep
Disengage
Sleep instead be around them
Stomp off in huff

Fuck him...I give up.im not prepared waste what precious little energy I have trying make things ok,I need use it stop us from drowning in everything
If and when gets head out arse he may be permitted rejoin us,tbh I'm reach point past caring.i want/need someone who has my back not digging fucking knives of unhelpful was in me

IVEgottheDECAF · 28/04/2019 08:24

Zoo Brew Its hard isn't it. Dp is still in chocolate teapot mode at times. Some days i could bury him.

More sick. More clean up. More washing on. Sigh.

ExpletiveDelighted · 28/04/2019 08:28

Zoo - that is truly shit. You have the Fledglings firmly behind you in putting yourself and the Zoolets first and ignoring him today (and until he steps up).

Ive hope for some good drying weather today and that DS feels better soon.

Clutter - we seem to have tackled all the low hanging fruit too, a lot of what we have is stuff we do actually need and use, its just organising it. It doesn't help that we all have so many hobbies as they all need equipment, special clothes, bags etc.

Cagliostro · 28/04/2019 08:44

God toddler sick is the worst! When Cagletini had the bug a few months ago it was a nightmare, I had puke on me for days. I’m a recovering emetophobe but I can pretty much cope with the older two as they can get to an appropriate receptacle 🤢

I think my issue is we are not completely drowning in clutter, which of course is great, but we still have loads and as I have got rid of a lot of the easy stuff I then end up with the harder stuff. Or at least the stuff I find harder anyway.

My turn to identify with your words this time stressy :o we are gradually condensing the “random leftover bits of crap that we can’t get rid of but don’t know what to do with” into fewer boxes, but it’s frustrating.

This morning I’ve done some french and had a shower while the baby was still asleep.

TooStressyTooMessy · 28/04/2019 08:55

Many of us feel the same with clutter then!

zoo Angry re your DP. Does he actually do anything positive in your life? On a perhaps more helpful note, are you sure you can only delete one email at a time on your phone? In-laws have kindly taken DDs out so am using the time to declutter my phone (rock and roll). Just discovered very belatedly that if I am in my inbox and then tap the ‘edit’ button I can select multiple emails then delete or move them. Still time consuming but less so.

Lisette1940 · 28/04/2019 12:56

Sorry zoo didn't catch your earlier post Flowers

IVEgottheDECAF · 28/04/2019 14:59

How are you getting on zoo?

The dcs are back to school here tomorrow and nothing is organised yet! I need to sort all that plus keep working through the sick washing!

Motivation?

Cagliostro · 28/04/2019 15:04

Motivation... that you’ll feel even worse later if it’s not done?

Not that I ever take my own advice.

I’m under a sleepy baby and just cleared out over half my gmail inbox, maybe 5-6k emails went. Still have a similar hotmail one and my iCloud one which isn’t so bad as I only got it when I got the iPad in late 2017 and am careful what I use that email for :o

DH and the Caglets are going to plant some mixed flower seeds in some big pots shortly I think.

Stilllivinginazoo · 28/04/2019 15:14

How's baby upchuck I've?
I've just got in.feckinv Asda George had NOTHING in lil zoo size ,so we had trail the 45 mins walk to town in search shoes (got the pants) as was there already got cat kibble at wilko, and another green shade adamant we will make a decision on a nice green for D's room, pop CEX and got few dvd to cheer everyone up and zoo tycoon for ds to cheer up D's and lil zoo.finalky hit sainsbo and Aldi on way home

I just sat down try ease hip pain(did I mention on day 3 of flooding period?and I have crippling back ache that I'm convinced bowel related as I only get it when guts playing up)before head local shop front quickly before shut to get df cheese/cream cheese for lil zoo
Got text "finally got up at 130,just done my dreaded shopping" I let rip with a less than polite text how we just got in and had had trail to town with stressed son, poorly lil zoo and I felt I'll and I'm still not fucking done

Wisely at this point he's not replied....

IVEgottheDECAF · 28/04/2019 15:58

The small one seems ok now, no more sick and happy in himself thank god

That is a good way to look at things cag!

Dryer on X3
Washing on line
All bins empty
Recycling out
Utility room swept
Dc taken to activities
Kitchen swept

Stilllivinginazoo · 28/04/2019 16:15

Final finished shopping, ready to drop but heyho.not washed uniforms yet,put shop away or done any clearing up!!

Don't think dp would know what being a productive part of a team was if one but him on the arse.....

MogTheSleepyCat · 28/04/2019 17:40

Glad to hear your little one is on the mend Ive. Like Cag I shudder at sick and dread it happening....

Zoo - how old are your DC again? Regardless of age, your DP really needs to be more present for them.

Not much flying happening in MogTowers. We have been to a local country park which was lovely, I have eaten an easter egg and put on a load of washing. That is all...

Stilllivinginazoo · 28/04/2019 18:08
