Fledglings awaiting April organisation... and a plan - the Flylady thread

Welcome to the April Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

April’s habit is usually making your bed which is a nice easy one Smile.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to Chic for a lovely March thread as always.

I've got better with emails, but that might be because I had to change my email provider and just forgot to change it on a lot of them! Drastic method, but it does work!

Get some sleep Cag, I'm yawning myself tonight which is unusual.

TooStressyTooMessy · 27/04/2019 07:25

I like that method Chic!

Has anyone got a burning desire to do the May thread? If not I can carry on.

Good morning!

I think I should do May Toostressy as I haven't run a thread since Oct & Nov last year I think (need to check). But if anyone else has a burning desire to do it, please shout!

Can anyone help me with regard to decluttering e-mails please? My Internet provider has sent me a message saying my e-mail storage capacity is nearly full and that future incoming e-mails will be bounced if I don't do something about it. My in-box is saying I have about 460 e-mails and I have honestly pared those down to a minimum (many of them are work related). But the overall figure of e-mails it is saying I have are over 7,000 (this is in a less bold print in a box top right of the screen) and (rather embarrassed at this) I don't know where they are!

My junk and trash e-mails are binned regularly. I only have about 10 e-mails in draft. So where are the other six hundred and fifty or so? Rather embarrassed to be asking but I have tried ringing provider and they never ruddy well pick up the phone. Does anyone have any clues please?

I know I changed over from outlook express to this provider a couple of years back and some may have been stored or archived then but not by me, so I don't know where they are! Confused

TIA for any advice/tips!

Morning all

How is it nearly May already? April has flown by.

TooStressyTooMessy · 27/04/2019 08:17

Oh great, thanks SC Smile.

I’m afraid I have no idea about the emails if you have emptied your trash and your junk. Hopefully someone else will have an idea. If not I bet if you started a thread elsewhere on here someone could help.

No idea SC clueless on anything remotely technical

I really need get going.ive fed cats and play on phone so far as everyone's still asleep....

IVEgottheDECAF · 27/04/2019 08:39

Ty zoo Flowers

On going dramas here this morning as we have organic soya milk instead of normal and apparently it is really different and disgusting Hmm

Cagliostro · 27/04/2019 08:54

Organic milk! The torture! :o

I was the first awake today (had fallen asleep on the sofa 😳) and since my phone was out of battery I went on the laptop for a bit and cleared some crap out of the downloads folder which had all sorts of forgotten stuff in there

IVEgottheDECAF · 27/04/2019 08:55

Honestly you would think it was piss the faces that are being pulled Angry

Stilllivinginazoo · 27/04/2019 08:57

I've we had grumps about having lactofree Muller corners everyday for a week(proclaimed lil zoo favourite when £3 for four, now £1.09 at heron foods and more frequent they're "boring"Hmm)Third world problems are here too.namely there's no fruit and both girls want some for breakfast and D's moaning he's got do some homework(maths) as been slacking dreadfully lately fretting not working.
He's now in middle floor perfect trip over him position in protest, but doing said work
Lil zoo looking miserable and sucking a barley sugar as throats still disgustingly sore.on plus she can only croak,so no yelling at least
Dd2 has stomped off upstairs to get dressed as I refuse trail shops for everyone else's needs, not mine without an accompliceGrin

Stilllivinginazoo · 27/04/2019 08:59

Oh and I've you are the most evil mother imaginable for forcing your sweet darlings to have organic...maybe the lack of agricultural chemicals makes it less palatable?Grin

Stilllivinginazoo · 27/04/2019 08:59
Lisette1940 · 27/04/2019 09:04

sc could you Google your query? Might throw up something on a tech board. Is it a legit communication from email provider?

Beautiful day yesterday so started hedge. Then pulled neck muscle so hedge looks like a work in progress. Rain appeared again so it can't be finished.

Ten minute think about forward planning. Need more veg and fruit. Work issues to sort out.

IVEgottheDECAF · 27/04/2019 09:04

No offence taken here zoo my own sense of humor has been known to be questionable tbh! Unfortunately i think it is rubbing off on the dc though and i now own worlds most sarcastic six year old Hmm

TooStressyTooMessy · 27/04/2019 09:39

Oh God the downloads folder Cag. I can’t even remember the last time I looked in there!!

OP posts:
Shadycorner · 27/04/2019 09:41

I've I know. Where did April (and Jan, Feb, Mar) go??? Shock

Thanks Toostressy will start another thread if I'm still stuck after more investigation ... wish I wasn't so crap at tech stuff.

Lisette sorry about neck muscle [hands over embrocation]. Thank you, that's a very good point about whether it is a legitimate e-mail or not. I'm fairly certain it is. It looks very official (and is in three langs) with contact details, but worth verifying. Of course to verify they will have to pick up the ruddy phone once in a while Confused. And yes, sorry, should have Googled before I asked on here! Will do that now!

TooStressyTooMessy · 27/04/2019 09:46

SC, use contact details from the official website of your email provider rather than anything they give you in the email at first, just in case it’s dodgy.

OP posts:
Shadycorner · 27/04/2019 09:59

Will do! Thanks Toostressy . Have a good w/e!

(Will set up new thread on Tues so we don't get too much crossover.)

Stilllivinginazoo · 27/04/2019 10:16

I've lil zoo has the most deadpan face and wit sharp enough to slash throats at 300paces... tries to deny all knowledge of where gets it from

Slightly disheveled/windswept but survived shop trip
Picked up blueberries(reduced 36p) and watermelon fans(reduced 50p) along with bread,rolls,cream cheese for dd2 and a lettuce!
Suppose best feed them now rather than go back to sleep or might start chewing the plaster...

ExpletiveDelighted · 27/04/2019 10:21

Morning all,

Ive yes. I have an allotment which produces beautiful, organic strawberries which routinely produce a response from the DCs of "no thanks, they're not as nice as ones from Sainsburys" Angry.

SC - sorry, no idea with email, I have lots of different accounts (2 personal, 2 work, 2 for volunteer roles plus oversight of the DCs) and it's a pain. I am in awe of you only having 400 or so, I treat my main email as a longterm filing cabinet and it has tens of thousands of emails going back about 20 years. I'd like to change provider but the thought of trying to change everything to a new address brings me out in a cold sweat.

Well, just dropped DS off at scout camp and am now fretting that he's going to freeze, its really windy and quite chilly. Luckily its only one night and he doesn't tend to feel the cold but still fretting.

ChicCroissant · 27/04/2019 10:52

SC - the emails - can you log in online and see what is there? Check that if you delete them remotely (laptop/phone) that they are deleted off the server as well. Could also be that you are downloading a copy off the main server so the originals are still there voice of experience as the numbers bandied around at the top of email providers are often unread emails.

I used to download all my emails, then I lost the downloaded ones when the laptop failed. I don't know which is the best method tbh, I think I'm downloading them again now but I should probably log in online to check.

I can always run the thread in May, so that's another possibility.

Time to get dressed and take DD to her Saturday activity. Catch you later fledglings!

foxessocks · 27/04/2019 12:01

Not sure about the emails sc, I have loads too and even have a random sub folder of Twitter notifications but I don't even use Twitter Confused I think I used it once about six years ago! So I'm not much help there. I do have a huge email declutter every now and then but inevitably I then need to find an email and I've deleted it Blush

Cag I always have loads of open browser windows on my laptop and my phone, plus loads of little "notes" that I keep on my phone. It actually makes my brain hurt and I wish I could just delete everything and start again. But obviously that doesn't really work because I do actually need to remember to do a lot of it. At the moment my phone browser has co-op open to remind me to stop at one and buy their frozen meal deal, fly lady, you gov thing as I need to look at a tax issue, this thread and a weather forecast. It's ridiculous really because I'm always picking my phone up looking for answers when I should really just get on with ANYTHING!!! Grin

The dc have gone for a sleepover at their grandad's house so I should be doing a bit of work. We are off out for dinner later just me and dh which is a first time in a very very long time.

I've been doing quite well with my fly lady routines recently. Only thing I'm struggling with a bit is the daily decluttering. I do five minutes then get bored! Can't seem to do a full 15 minutes. Especially as my bedroom is mostly decluttered so I could have actually been doing some detailed cleaning in there but I didn't.

Ta da
30 minute work out (with the dc "helping")
Daily routine and s&s bathroom
Packed dc overnight bags
Decluttered one drawer in bedroom and tidied dh side of bed (literally took me 5 minutes then I gave up)

To do
Some work!!!

That was a long post sorry!

Enjoy your weekends everyone

Cagliostro · 27/04/2019 13:36

Our browsing habits appear similar foxes :o daft thing is I sometimes then end up with multiple identical tabs because I forgot whether I closed it or not.

Just went swimming again. Nightmare journey on the way home though and now I’m freezing :(

DSS is here and bless him he’s going to do a tip run with all the garden stuff. DH took the fencing from between the decking and grass and it makes the garden look bigger!

ChicCroissant · 27/04/2019 13:47

Back from activity, it's only an hour so I do some shopping while she is there and collect her afterwards. Had lunch, will attempt to actually do stuff this afternoon and not just browse t'internet!
