The bedlam (back)stops here - February Flylady thread for frosty fledglings

SassitudeandSparkle · 31/01/2019 23:38

Welcome to the February Flylady thread, we’d love to have you with us as we chat and work our way through our houses in February. Flylady uses the zone method of cleaning so we’ll be focusing on a different area of the house each week – we will post daily links to the Launch Pad on the Flylady website which gives all the details of the current Zone, daily missions and babysteps.

Newbies are always welcome so feel free to join in at any time. Flylady does recommend decluttering your house first, so if you are not ready for the cleaning routines yet it’s fine to focus on the decluttering bit – add the babysteps in if you wish.

Do any of you / your kids like Descendants? Trying to decide on a little make up bag to buy DD2 and am paralysed with choice!!

Do I go with black and purple, pink and purple or purple and silver. The black one is almost half the price but I think not quite as nice sadly. Aaaggh. I realise this really does not matter!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 03/02/2019 20:31

Welcome back Wheely. Wow at an 11am lie in Sass, that’s great! Definitely thread leading is very tiring Grin.

Hope assessment goes as well as it can do Mog Flowers.

Lisette, all your snow and your Narnia lamppost sounds amazing.

No snow here Angry. Nicely cold and frosty at least.

Must get on, going to do a half hour blitz now kids asleep. Trying a new tactic of coping DH and actually trying to relax in the evenings. I usually try to get everything done but then end up faffing about all the time. He (and another organised friend I have) seems much better at actually doing things in the daytime then having a well deserved rest. Will see how it goes.

Big wing flaps to all.

Cagliostro · 03/02/2019 21:03

DD loves Descendants. Yawn. Mal is her fave (oddly she is in that Netflix film Dumplin’) and at that age she wouldn’t remotely care about the colours if it was descendants related 😁

Just got in from seeing the third Dragons film. Aaaaahhhh

God ive I remember the OMG FOOD EAT ALL THE THINGS stage

This came shortly after the “crying because I couldn’t find twiglets and everything else made me wanna puke” stage

Stilllivinginazoo · 03/02/2019 21:10

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 03/02/2019 21:45

Thanks Cag Smile. I am hoping the same so just got the cheapest one since I couldn’t decide and they are all the same style. DD2’s favourite is Uma. I quite like the films and the music BlushGrin.

Enjoy relaxing zoo.

IVEgottheDECAF · 03/02/2019 21:57

My dd prefers transformers 🤷‍♀️

SassitudeandSparkle · 03/02/2019 23:20

Firstly - link to Launch Pad  for tomorrow.

Mog I hope it goes well tomorrow, such a time of mixed feelings whatever the outcome Flowers Bower if you have meds at home you may be able to get a telephone appointment, I hope you get something.

DD has been to sleepovers but never had one herself as her bedroom is too small to fit everyone in (she tells me, she has a point although they could sleep elsewhere) and eight would be an absolute nightmare, Zoo!

Just reading an article on the DM website about 'cleanfluencers', mentioned an Australian who clearly has a fondness for pastel colours which looks so different to the grey and white of most instagram homes at the moment!

I'd better get the uniform, shirts and lunchboxes ready for tomorrow and finish off the wine sleep well everyone.

Ooh it doesn’t want me to open page.😳

Thanks Sass.

My GP isn’t on Monday’s so hope to see or speak to him Tuesday could do with a stethoscope to my chest. Will go to BF if I can’t get any joy with receptionist. Last year he told me to go to hospital if I got any worse because he was off for a few days and likely it would be pneumonia as I was bordering on it from his view. I feel the same now. At times struggling for breath and chesty cough then ok for a bit. DD has left me her diffuser which helped a lot last night. I came to bed early because tired and now not sleepy.

Will attempt some ironing tomorrow.
Why does no one else bother to clean the bathroom? We all use it.Need to dust this room but dust makes me wheezy. I am thinking of getting some help for two hours fortnightly. Neighbour had a nice lass and I nearly asked before they moved. My wrist is really bed now and I feel it might be worth it to get someone to do the jobs I struggle with. Ironing, some cleaning jobs, wash the floors. Then I could concentrate and keep up with other jobs.if DH did a bit more I wouldn’t need to though. Where have I heard that before...DH?

Sproutingcorm · 04/02/2019 05:01

Thqnks Sass!

Take it steady Bower that chest sounds nasty.

Good luck with your ds's assessment today Mog. Thinking of you.

Morning all! Wide awake from 4 am as is becoming usual (sigh). As it's nearly approaching 6 am here I may as well get up.

Returned to town early enough last night to attend Mass and la fete de la Chandeleur (Candlemas) celebration afterwards, involving the usual disdain for health and safety and tiny children wielding enormous crepe pans over open flames! Marvellous! Grin. And ate far too many!

Back to do a load of washing and not much else. Consequently, a shed load of choring to do today +back to work. Urgh.

I so agree about the tedium of bathroom cleaning. One of the worst jobs. I do devotedly s & s most days - and it helps a lot - but it's awful when I let it slip!

Sproutingcorm · 04/02/2019 05:07

Meant to say Toostressy (never heard of Descendants sorry!) very glad to hear you are going to try and have some well earned relaxation of an evening!

Sproutingcorm · 04/02/2019 05:15

Zoo sleepover Mum does indeed deserve a medal! Why there is so much shrieking involved in teen sleepovers I do not know but it seems to be mandatory, particularly in the early hours! I have hosted eight/nine in the past when DD was much much younger, but thankfully DD (who has four really close friends) prefers to alternate them in batches of two nowadays. There seems to be very little sleep involved no matter what the number though... .

Stilllivinginazoo · 04/02/2019 05:16

I can hear wind howling outside and I know I need to get up but am warm and comfy....

foxessocks · 04/02/2019 06:58

Morning!

I've let the s&s go of late and my bathroom does indeed look pretty awful, must clean it today Blush I also hate it! Also because our bathroom is old and however much you clean it it never looks that sparkling. I want a new one but that's not going to happen for a while!

Feeling groggy as ds was up in the night, and I didn't feel at all ready for my alarm to go off. Have a feeling nursery/ school drop off won't be fun as neither child will probably be feeling it today but I'll try and be positive as I'm sure they can sense it otherwise and it's worse!

Hope you all have a good day (despite it being Monday!)

HillsBesideTheSea · 04/02/2019 08:11

SassitudeandSparkle · 04/02/2019 09:14

Morning fledglings! On my second cup of tea and getting ready to attack the day before it attacks me

I only heard about that festival this weekend SC, and have indeed flipped a pancake holding a coin! It was just luck that we had pancakes this weekend at the request of DD though.

Thinking of Mog today, hope it goes well for you all.

Will be back later when I've actually done something I can talk about

Cagliostro · 04/02/2019 17:20

I made some phonecalls today. Phone interviews booked for April for the assessment centre, then the actual assessment and therapy programmes will be done towards Christmas due to their waiting lists. Feeling positive and quite shocked it’s been so easy to set up, I thought it’d take a lot more hassle to find somewhere but I’m happy with our choice and now we can get on with other stuff.

Stilllivinginazoo · 04/02/2019 17:33

MogTheSleepyCat · 04/02/2019 21:35

Evening all,

Thanks for your good wishes, much appreciated.

We had the ASD assessment and no surprises, the Consultant, Occupational Therapist and Speech & Language Therapist all agreed DS was on the spectrum. They think he fits the Asperger profile best.

It's not a surprise, but I didn't expect to feel the way I do. A bit numb, a bit sad, a bit "so what? He is still my lovely little boy"

IVEgottheDECAF · 04/02/2019 21:46

Also ....

One wash on before work
Washing hung to dry before work
Wash on after work
Dryer on after work

Currently stuck on back on sofa. Back so sore. Been moving heavy shit at work, stupid i know.

Mog Flowers think its understandable to feel a bit all over the show
