Welcome to the February Flylady thread, we’d love to have you with us as we chat and work our way through our houses in February. Flylady uses the zone method of cleaning so we’ll be focusing on a different area of the house each week – we will post daily links to the Launch Pad on the Flylady website which gives all the details of the current Zone, daily missions and babysteps.

Newbies are always welcome so feel free to join in at any time. Flylady does recommend decluttering your house first, so if you are not ready for the cleaning routines yet it’s fine to focus on the decluttering bit – add the babysteps in if you wish.

Sticky toffee pudding Grin

There is a boarding school near me 5miles. Beautiful grounds. Out in the countryside.Takes lots of foreign students especially Chinese, Japanese as well as some local pupils. DDs best friend went to it.

Can agree about the lights. Hope you are feeling better now SC.

TA DA
Sorted half the bedroom. Put away clothes, made a pile for ironing tomorrow as not up to it today. Pile of washing. First load done the rest tomorrow as I will dig out Lakeland drier tomorrow night then it will be dry by Sunday morning. Vacuumed sitting room new v.cleaner is fab. Did four hours of sorting school files and writing plans. Smile DH has finished the painting and has put the bookcase and dresser back. It looks great, so pleased I went with my choice. DH likes it too. Hope to put back some crockery tomorrow. He can fetch it since he put it away unlabelled. Need to declutter and send him straight to charity shop so i don't have second thoughts. Be ruthless, be ruthless, be ruthless.

Not been sick though I felt it so going to have some plaice and salad. DH in pub, said he wouldn't be long that was 5.40pm. Still can't complain as he has done most of the kitchen.

Zoo so relieved you have the heating back on. Poor DD

foxessocks · 01/02/2019 19:50

zoo that's reassuring thanks. I still can't eat properly but I think it's worst when it first gets fitted.

I'm trying to eat chocolate buttons at the moment but I'm not enjoying them Sad

Sc sounds like big decisions coming up, I can well imagine the Brexit uncertainty is not at all helpful to say the least!!

Ds has been so very challenging today (and this week!) that I have succumbed to a gin and tonic even though I'm not supposed to have fizzy drinks. Oops. Just one I promise.

Bower hope you feel much better tomorrow

Lisette1940 · 01/02/2019 22:00

I'm using a mixture of flylady and clean mama. It seems to be working. House is under control.

Bower, do you have your kitchen finished yet?

SC, hope med stuff goes well and it's all over and done with soon.

Bowerbird5 · 01/02/2019 23:48

Hi Lisette,
Yes all finished except the tiles. It looks lovely. First choice of paper was Lisette grey background with white flowers. None left when I returned so I chose grey pussy willow and DH chose cream and we also liked Gosford aubergine. Went with grey paint above on boxed in pipes and ceiling plus sink wall. Other wall is pale eau de nil, lovely and fresh and we have a bit of exposed stone wall on there. My best friend dropped by tonight and thinks it looks lovely.😀
I suggested to DH that we paint the bathroom ...it didn’t go down well. He only has three days left.
Foxes thanks. Not feeling great. Ate my tea but stomach rumbling. Hope I wake up early with plenty of energy to
clean bedroom,
do ironing,
sort RBC for school,
clean hall, stairs.
Tidy sitting room and put away anything that shouldn’t be in there.
Be a longtime before mine could be classed as under control.

Foxes a good excuse to eat soft pudding like creme caramel, M&S jelly etc. Poor you I never had them but probably should have.

SassitudeandSparkle · 01/02/2019 23:48

Evening all - don't forget to check the Launch Pad for Saturday (not too much at the weekends).

I am enjoying a glass or two of Wine and hoping that all the slush does not freeze into sheet ice overnight - we are not expecting any more snow where we are. DD's school was open and had a gushing message on social media praising effort in turning up.

Lisette, house under control sounds good, it's the keeping it that way that defeats me! Bower, good work with the interior design and I hope the D&V is over quickly. SC the bright lights in hospitals! I have seen porters put a flannel over the face of someone with a headache on a trolley so they wouldn't shine in her eyes. Zoo enjoy the warmth and hot water from the tap, and I hope the pain is easing for your DD, Harebellmeadow, ah the crawling - can be surprisingly speedy and faster than parents on two feet! Hills, hope the snow is not too bad where you are, it has mostly melted here, Eustacia I find the Kondo book inspiring but can't bring myself to get everything together at once. Meet, I hope we left you some churros and choc and Cag, hope you are doing OK today.

Well, this wine won't drink itself - I'll get back to it and see you in the morning Grin

Urgh. Had to be literally dragged out to a restaurant last night by DH and DD to celebrate colleagues birthday. Really glad I went in the end though as her parents had travelled over 7,000k to celebrate with her (surprise visit). Reunited after four years and it was lovely to see.

Off to visit 🐴 now - we all set our alarms for an hour ago (wishful thinking) - but none of us are up yet! Must get going!

Ta for links Sass!

Kitchen sounds really lovely Bower! Hope you are feeling better!
Think I know the school you are referring to (as nearly went there myself years ago). Known for Wilson run?

Hope you are all back together and toasty now Zoo!

Right, going to get some bacon on to make butties for breakfast in car, hopefully smell will lure people away from their duvets!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Sproutingcorm · 02/02/2019 06:40

PS thanks for sticky toffee pudding hit yesterday btw Bower very restorative! Grin

Stilllivinginazoo · 02/02/2019 06:40

Safe travels!

Sproutingcorm · 02/02/2019 06:45

Neeeeiiiiiggggghhhhhhhh!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 02/02/2019 07:01

Hi all, thanks for the January thread Hills and thanks Sass for starting this one Brew. Have not really got off the ground for January so hoping for some actual flying in February.

So pleased you have heating zoo. Enjoy dhorse SC. Good to hear of kitchen progress Bower. Welcome to Harebell Smile.

To do:-
I have half an hour before I actually need to start getting up ready so am going to do some guilt free pottering and check on the kids.

EustaciaVye · 02/02/2019 07:49

Grin I forgive you sprouting

What is clean mama lisette ? I'm not feeling it totally with flylady at the moment. I think my work schedule and dd anxiety makes it a bit challenging to accommodate.

Lisette1940 · 02/02/2019 08:04

I know I'm a heretic but here you go: www.cleanmama.net

She does bathrooms on Mondays, hoovering another day etc. But I do a daily bleurgh and morning routine etc from flylady. I can't get into zone cleaning. I just forget.

Snooooow. School soccer match cancelled. Lie in.

IVEgottheDECAF · 02/02/2019 08:12

Hello February

foxessocks · 02/02/2019 08:22

Hi I've sorry you're still feeling sick.

I'm the same with flylady at the moment, I decided to have a break from it so I can relax a bit more which I know is the opposite of the point of this thread Grin some of the routines have still stuck though, I tend to do things like bed sheets and bins still on a Monday and I still have a basic morning / evening routine. So basically despite not doing zones at the moment the house is still under control (most of the time obviously the dc keep messing it up!!) Then I've just been continuing with decluttering whenever I can or feel like it.

MeetOnTheledge · 02/02/2019 08:23

Oh no Ive. Would a ginger biscuit help?

Well, quite a day yesterday. Snow day for both DCs and my day off work so we went sledging with friends in the morning. Snow started up again by mid afternoon and it took poor DH 3 hours to get home from work (normally 25 mins). Lots of roads blocked round here still this morning. We had plans to go to Basingstoke today but it is a complete no-go zone so that will have to wait.

foxessocks · 02/02/2019 08:24

Bit random but does anyone use beeswax polish in a tin for their furniture rather than a mr sheen type spray?

IVEgottheDECAF · 02/02/2019 08:46

Hate ginger. Had a chocolate biscuit but that obv didnt help Sad Weird dream last night that i was bleeding and everyone was being horrible to me.

On the bright side i have my scan at end of the week and can then announce why i have been so useless of late!

House is horrendous. Needs some super cleaning like Kim and Aggie shipping in or something. Blush

IVEgottheDECAF · 02/02/2019 08:46

Oh and our show of snow is piss poor. Light dusting on the ground not the couple of ft i requested

MeetOnTheledge · 02/02/2019 08:48

I don't use polish at all Foxes, never have done

HillsBesideTheSea · 02/02/2019 08:59

Foxes yes. different technique but worth the effort imo. that said we don't have to polish very often.

IVEgottheDECAF · 02/02/2019 09:21

Whats polish 🤣

IVEgottheDECAF · 02/02/2019 09:25

I need to walk to the shops but its still only minus fucking 2 out there! Fml

SassitudeandSparkle · 02/02/2019 10:59

Waves to I've and stressy - just about to take DD out to her Sat morning activity, will catch you up after lunch. Most of the snow has gone here but it is still icy and cold. Good day for comfy cushions and blankets!
