Welcome to the February Flylady thread, we’d love to have you with us as we chat and work our way through our houses in February. Flylady uses the zone method of cleaning so we’ll be focusing on a different area of the house each week – we will post daily links to the Launch Pad on the Flylady website which gives all the details of the current Zone, daily missions and babysteps.

Newbies are always welcome so feel free to join in at any time. Flylady does recommend decluttering your house first, so if you are not ready for the cleaning routines yet it’s fine to focus on the decluttering bit – add the babysteps in if you wish.

The golden arches often supplies DD's tea of a weekend or after a late dance class. It's fine IMO and I get to have a coffee as well Yes, bad timing for DH to be away, mine is away a few days a week at the moment but not as far as that (and he did bring me food goodies from the country he was in this week).

I am now going down with a cold, hopefully it's the same as DD's and she's not going to catch another one off us!

Stressy, what day is the birthday? Good luck with the celebrations!

Ah zoo, the cone of shame - I do hope Dcat is doing OK, must be a fright for you all.

Waves to all fledglings, takes sneezy self off for another glass of wine to bed and leaves link for the Launch Pad

Thanks Toostressy! I am horribly squeamish; wish I wasn't. Really envy those who are not as it helps a lot when dealing with animals! I'm good with needles though and always invite student doctors and nurses to do their worst Grin

Hope your dd2 has a good birthday weekend!

Sanguineclamp · 22/02/2019 22:48

Oh no Sass hope cold short-lived and you can rest up this weekend!

Stilllivinginazoo · 23/02/2019 07:33

Not squeamish here SC chat away about whatever you like!

I spent the night freezing with door to kitchen open wide enough for scoutcat to access littertray.and the sounds him crash into furniture and into me I can confirm sleep didn't really happen

IVEgottheDECAF · 23/02/2019 07:38

SC, I can tell you those students will genuinely really appreciate you letting them gain experience with needles on you, especially if you put them at ease as it sounds like you do Smile.

Party day today. Already had blazing row with my parents. Send Gin.

SassitudeandSparkle · 23/02/2019 10:05

Gin for Stressy zoo try and get a nap in today, hope the cat is doing OK.

I think we will all head out later on this morning, DD requires a specific piece of kit that is best purchased from a specific shop. Cold still there but not too bad so I'm filling up with paracetamol and vitamins.

Lovely sunny day here, will get some more laundry outside while I've got the chance!

Gloriously bright sunny weather here! Just one week to go, then it's half term. (What's the betting we'll be back to rain and gloom by then? ) This can't be spring, spring proper-like can it?

foxessocks · 23/02/2019 12:09

toostressy I feel your pain, we are also having a party day (two days, family today and school friends tomorrow). Hope it goes smoothly for you but sorry about the rowSad . We have a slightly awkward day ahead too, dh brother has possibly split up with long term partner, dh parents will probably arrive at the same time (they aren't together and it's always a little awkward!)

TooStressyTooMessy · 23/02/2019 16:49

Eeek good luck for you too foxes. Hope it went ok. Well I have apologised; I don’t think I was actually in the wrong but it was such a petty row (about who was driving to the party and who was giving lifts to who. My parents were late which made it stressful but they have a long journey so it was a bit harsh of me maybe) that it didn’t seem worth it. Will have to see how the rest of the visit goes. Essentially I shouted st them that I was not a child and so why did they treat me like one sounding of course like a petulant child. Ugh. I am going to be going out just my dad and me in a minute so will probably have to give a proper apology.

That said, the party was great but very, very loud. I think perhaps the hall was a little small for the number of excited children Blush.

Must go and be sociable.

zoo Brew. Glad all feeling a little better Sass. Big wing flaps to everyone else.

HillsBesideTheSea · 23/02/2019 21:27

I fecking hope you did not give that appology you mentioned Stressy. About bloody time you told it straight memory of an elephant when it comes to none important important information Seriously how you have not done this before hand is only a measure of how you are a better person than me!

I find body bits in jars fascinating - which probably explains my science based degree don't worry I do not collect body bits in jars, nor dead stuffed things and don't get me started on that weird habit of collecting dead plants. Why? Why would you do that?

TooStressyTooMessy · 23/02/2019 21:41

Hills, too late, I apologised Blush.

Cagliostro · 23/02/2019 21:54

Sorry about all the ill feeling stressy at least you can take the moral high ground I suppose? 💐

Still ill here, started the second course of ABx but at least these ones are only 3x a day and don’t have finicky pain in the arse rules about when to eat.

Sanguineclamp · 23/02/2019 22:03

Yep you never know Toostressy it might clear the air and it won't harm for everyone to know unequivocally where you stand! Hope birthday girl had a good time!

Hope it went well for you too Foxes and awkward family situation didn't dampen the party spirit.

Hills I collect lichen (yes living life on the edge as usual) so am with you there. Don't mind body bits in jars. Just bodily fluids (blood excluded) that I find difficult.

Sanguineclamp · 23/02/2019 22:06

Poor you Cag you've really been in the wars.

SassitudeandSparkle · 23/02/2019 23:19

Sanguineclamp · 24/02/2019 09:47

Yes hope you are ok Zoo? Flowers

Good luck with planning Cag!

I am livid this morning. Dh left for airport for business trip at 6 am and I went to bed last night feeling ropey at about 5.30 pm so didn't see the state in which he had left downstairs. It's a total pit. Angry I was already pissed off with him because he used the week imnediately after op when my dsis was here to do even more work than usual, presentations and business dinners in the evenings, left her to do everything and seemed really cold/detached . (He can't cope with anything involving emotion and fair enough some people can't so I wasn't expecting huge emotional support but this is a man who sings lullabies to the dogs fhs). He did do food shopping (although I had to ask a few times before he did it) and bought me a shed load of flowers to be fair. He tried to do washing while I was in hospital but I came back to wet moulding towels on the laundry floor which last time I saw them had been washed and put in td. He also left a load of sopping washing on an battered old antique chair of my late mother's that I have down there both ruining the seat and the clothes. Who does that ffs?

Today I've been with left an overflowing kitchen bin (which I can't lift), overflowing recycling bins (ditto), dirty sink, full dw, dirty washing g up stacked high, all surfaces covered with condiments etc, floor sticky etc and a trail of cables, books, papers, clothes. Its not exactly nice for him to have to spend all Sat preparing for trip and leaving so early on Sun - he does work incredibly hard - but I could bloomin' well ring his neck right now. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Stilllivinginazoo · 24/02/2019 12:28

HillsBesideTheSea · 24/02/2019 12:33

Stressy let me be blunt for a moment. Every time you appologies for saying the behaviour is out of line you are empowering and re-enforcing the behaviour. That said it is super hard to stand up to parents and conflict is never easy. So I can understand why you appologised but it is consistant repeated behaviour when they visit. Try to not appologise before it comes to the point when you are really done with the behaviour and the issue gets blown bigger than is resolveable.

SC Angry ffs bloody idiot dh

My get up and go got up and fucked off. Which is an issue. TO do list is huge and time limited today.

SassitudeandSparkle · 24/02/2019 13:24

Sunny day here too, unfortunately my cold is bad today and I didn't get much sleep last night - hopefully will catch up later but may be a bit quiet (certainly on the housework front), DH has just gone shopping.

OP posts:
Sanguineclamp · 24/02/2019 13:38

And wise words from Hills as ever. Good luck with everything you have to plough through this pm.

It is hard standing up to parents I agree. You kind of have to reverse years of conditioning, especially if they are fairly controlling. The one good thing about becoming a menopausal old bat is that kind of thing comes a tad easier because you don't care about offending others so much Grin. Anyway hope you are surviving the w/e Toostressy [delivers crate of Gin for later]

Zoo so relieved you're ok and powered up! Amazing weather here too! It's so lovely! Our central heating off and French windows are open. Just slight eek feeling at back of mind about global warming and this being decidedly odd weather for February!

And thanks both re: DH. You can catch him at Heathrow early Fri! I will supply the garrot (sp?) Grin
