The bedlam (back)stops here - February Flylady thread for frosty fledglings

Welcome to the February Flylady thread, we’d love to have you with us as we chat and work our way through our houses in February. Flylady uses the zone method of cleaning so we’ll be focusing on a different area of the house each week – we will post daily links to the Launch Pad on the Flylady website which gives all the details of the current Zone, daily missions and babysteps.

Newbies are always welcome so feel free to join in at any time. Flylady does recommend decluttering your house first, so if you are not ready for the cleaning routines yet it’s fine to focus on the decluttering bit – add the babysteps in if you wish.

DD's cold is improving but still a bit rough, it seems to be the adults going down with it now - much echinacea and vitamins are being consumed, it may be too late for DH though.

I have eaten too much chocolate today, not helped by DH bringing goodies back from his trip.

Launch Pad for Thursday. See you tomorrow!

Did you survive the night foxes?

I have tossed and turned in pain all night, if my gp offers no sympathy she may herself develop a bad back... ...

Stilllivinginazoo · 21/02/2019 08:06

I've really hope she has some ideas for her sake asuch as yours as it sounds like you are at point may snap unhelpful people like twigs

Stilllivinginazoo · 21/02/2019 08:11

Tada
Everyone's up,fed and watered
Apple and cinnamon muffins about come out oven
Washings in dryer
Off out in half hour in another walk with kids
Camhs for D's later

foxessocks · 21/02/2019 08:16

ive that sucks hope you get some good advice today.
Yes ds was okay, bit sad at bed time but dd gave him two of her teddies which he liked. He woke up once in the night and asked where his teddy was but he drank some milk and was ok. We are off to soft play as soon as it opens to hopefully get one or both back! Got no money until pay day now so he'll have to wait a week or so if we do have to order new ones Shock

I've also got to ring opticians today and have a rant as they admitted they weren't happy with the quality of my new glasses and promised to call me by Tuesday with a solution but I've heard nothing. I've paid almost £300 for these and I'm furious they admitted it was a bad job but haven't done anything about it!! Sad

So that's my fun packed day Grin

Have a nice Thursday one and all!

foxessocks · 21/02/2019 08:17

That should have been an angry face not a sad one! Angry

IVEgottheDECAF · 21/02/2019 08:48

I think i know what the advice will be Sad

Dont push a pram
Dont lift your two year old
Rest

HillsBesideTheSea · 21/02/2019 09:13

And which point you ask what plane of existence they are on and ask for a physio referral ?

Morning
2 training sessions in 2 days. I regret this decision. Past me was an idiot.
WHy? because on my to do list has been bleach bathroom to within an inch of its life, remove old sealent, apply new sealent. Fix large heavy door that is a 2 person job and requires holding, lifting and man handling.

PLus I promised myself a trip away this weekend if I had managed to get enough done. I have not got enough done. Sad And in this broken state I am not likely to get enough done SadSad Off for pain killers and coffee and then a soak in an epsom salt bath to see if I can get moving.

SassitudeandSparkle · 21/02/2019 09:55

Morning fledglings! Still in pyjamas yet again here, laziest half-term ever and I think we are actually enjoying it!

Fell back asleep after DH left for work this morning, DD got up and went downstairs herself and I was woken shortly afterwards by a junk phone call Angry

Take the trip anyway Hills you don't have to justify yourself - especially to yourself! IVE I hope they can come up with something to ease the pain for you, zoo has reminded me how much I liked making Nigella's huge apple and cinnamon muffins ....

foxes glad the night without the precious toys was not too taxing, sounds like your DS did really well there. That is outrageous about the glasses, definitely press them to do them again sort the problem.

I've had a pain au choc and just enjoying a caffeine-free pot of coffee. Will have to get washed, dressed and actually do something soon Shock

Unfortunately I am a grownup with deadlines and responsibilities sass it doesn't work like that. I wish it did but it doesn't. As it is I have have to take off work to get things sorted...

Sanguineclamp · 21/02/2019 12:49

Hope the Epsom salts help a bit Hills Brew Cake

Speaking of baths, I am desperate for one but one bit of stitching not healing as quickly as others so have to stick to showers for now.

I'm with you re: the slow rise this morning Sass! My morning ablutions take forever currently! And then I feel exhausted after only getting up, washed and dressed so then have to go and lie down again! It's a hard life! Grin

Had intended to try and do x2 loads of washing per day (someone else lifting wet laundry and hanging up), 30 mins French study, unloading of dw x1 (except for heavy cast iron casserole pans) + prepare one supper (except for lifting pans boiling water) + one gentle 10 min walk per day. So far, frustratingly, have only managed 2 of those tasks plus ablutions Shock It's so odd when one is used to doing so much more without really thinking about it! Reality setting in a bit after euphoria of hospital discharge, that this is going to be a bit of a long haul. Heigh ho! At least the weather is lovely! And I always have a furry or two for company Smile

Agree re: Nigella muffins btw! Her Christmas ones are ace too!

Hope you can retrieve the toys without too much trouble Foxes !

Stilllivinginazoo · 21/02/2019 13:25

SC I got very frustrated after my c sections as I felt no different but suddenly couldn't manage my normal routine.drove me bonkersFlowershopefully the long-term benefits will make it all worthwhile?

Hills being a grown up sucks and blows
Foxes rant at them they deserve it.hope toys are waiting in soft play
Sass I've not got nigellas apple muffin recipe
I've I have no words other than reiterating I wish I was round the cornerSadare you back on the Brew yet?

Stilllivinginazoo · 21/02/2019 13:30

IVEgottheDECAF · 21/02/2019 13:51

tibni · 21/02/2019 15:14

Hello all, I'm loving being off work this week and am catching up with long overdue jobs.
Second coat of paint on ds room - it's hard for him with disruption and he managed to take a chunk out of wall trying to put shelf back up for his extensive playmobil coach collection! Filled the hole last night and put a coat of paint over today.
Food shopping done, weeded and tidied back garden and done washing, ironing etc.
Time for a chill before ds gets home

Stilllivinginazoo · 21/02/2019 18:09

Didn't get the emoji but guessing making you sick still I've sorry gp was as much use as a chocolate fireguard

I have read for a bit then been subjected to the new Lego movie.i think I'm getting old as used watching more grown up stuff with zoolets.girls were bored,I lost 90 mins of my life,D's and dp liked it...

About to make pesto....

foxessocks · 21/02/2019 19:24

Argh ive that's not helpful is it. Sad

Sc hope you're okay, make sure you take it easy.

We got one toy back but the penguin is still lost Sad the other one was the favourite so that's good that one was found at least. Ds little face lit up when he saw it! I've left them my phone number in case the other one turns up. I feel really sad, he's had him since he was born! (I know I'm being ridiculous Grin)

Optician finally got back to me and were very apologetic, going in on Monday to get the issue resolved. Hopefully. They didn't sound that confident and didn't offer to give me some money back for my troubles Hmm perhaps I should have insisted. I'm not very good at confrontation!

Dd is 5 tomorrow!! So we need to get some banners and balloons up. We also have a food shop of party food being delivered this evening so will have to resist eating any of it!!

foxessocks · 21/02/2019 19:25

zoo we've had pesto loads recently I always forget how much I love it! We had mince and onion pie tonight, home made and first time I've made it, was really nice I was pleased!

Sanguineclamp · 21/02/2019 21:45

Thanks Bower Sass Zoo and Foxes. I don't remember feeling this weak after my C-section, but it was 15 yrs ago, and it's all a bit of a blur tbh! Going to try doing just two tasks a day at first. Then hopefully build up from there. It is frustrating watching everything going to pieces around you but that's just the way it will have to be for the moment!

Waves to everyone else!

Stilllivinginazoo · 21/02/2019 21:49

SCFlowers
Foxes I made tuna pasties the other night for the little ones(burning out cupboard ingredients as food bill so high in holidays as they munch like locusts).made pastry and mixed pesto, tuna and courgette I grated and squeeze excess moisture out of together.wasnt sure they would like it but rammed it down with side cherry Tom's and carrot sticks, adamant they would eat it again!!

SassitudeandSparkle · 21/02/2019 22:53

Will dig out the recipe zoo, might get myself a snack and head off to bed. Sleep well everyone!

SC do take it easy, there is no rush to get back to housework, your recovery is most important. After I had my prolapse surgery I did very little lifting etc for the first six weeks and built up after that. I remember feeling so weak too, my core strength vanished overnight.

Foxes - I do hope the missing cuddly turns up, we've had a few similar incidents in the past and even though my two are teens now they'd both be devastated to lose their favourites, which still come on holiday with us.

Well, not much Flying today, but yesterday was quite spectacular. I was off work and got a few jobs plus a lot of laundry done. At dinner time I announced that as soon as we had finished we were all going to spend 15 mins tidyling downstairs rooms. An hour later and everyone was still tidying, hoovering, emptying bins etc. Must make it a regular thing.
