Welcome to the February Flylady thread, we’d love to have you with us as we chat and work our way through our houses in February. Flylady uses the zone method of cleaning so we’ll be focusing on a different area of the house each week – we will post daily links to the Launch Pad on the Flylady website which gives all the details of the current Zone, daily missions and babysteps.

Newbies are always welcome so feel free to join in at any time. Flylady does recommend decluttering your house first, so if you are not ready for the cleaning routines yet it’s fine to focus on the decluttering bit – add the babysteps in if you wish.

Whey hey to team tidying Meet sounds really good!

And thank you. I know that's good advice! And that's exactly it, it's as though all my lower stomach muscles have disappeared! There's just nowt there! Bad enough re: housework (as this house is challenging at the best of times es) but even worse wrt country side! Been told no driving, lifting or exertion for at least eight weeks. And even then I have to be careful (no heavy water buckets for dhorse for example). No scooping out of stone troughs! No carrying bags of feed or hay bales! No pushing heavy wheelbarrows. No carrying heavy saddle. No riding itself for at least six to eight months, possibly a year Sad. For riding you need "shoulders like a soldier, hips like a whore" and it's the core that absorbs the difference! Mind you, with a bit of a "rubber ring" situation going in here, just the thought of riding makes me wince currently!

And musn't whinge, I am extremely happy that my crummy backwards septate uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, cervix, fibroids and a mahoosive ovarian cyst have all been evicted! Now just waiting to see what happens re: bowel adhesions (oh joy!)

Sorry everyone if that was er, a bit meaty to be reading over your cornflakes! Grin. No Flying to report for obvious reasons! So will probably be lurking on here but not posting much (to everyone's relief probably!). Grin

Wing flaps to one and all!

Sanguineclamp · 22/02/2019 04:51

Good luck with optician Foxes don't be fobbed off! Happy birthday to your ds! Hope he has a good 'un! (And that penguin returns to roost!)

Tuna pasties sound yum Zoo!

DD up in 10. Had better get in shower. Have a good day everyone!

Bowerbird5 · 22/02/2019 09:24

Morning all.

Foxes glad one turned up. Could you make a wanted poster to put up in soft play? Somewhere amongst the mountain of stuff in little room their lies a penguin🐧if it would be of any help. Not the same I know but may pacify a little one if I can find it.i need to sort that room next week and have a vague idea where it might be so let me know if yours doesn’t turn up.🎁🎂🎉Happy birthday to DD
Sanguine don’t worry about details, we can handle it. Lovely to have you back on board.
zoo thinking I might spoil them this weekend with those muffins. I have a Women ‘s Weekly recipe that I just adapt.

Still feeling tired. I was a bit more productive yesterday. Had afternoon out to visit friend and made a cake on return. Just going to start another as I am going off to do my cooking weekend. I thought since I am home I could make some here to take with me. Going at lunch time so it won’t be such a rush tonight. Fish pie tonight.
Making soup, Cottage Pie, Beef in Guinness and Tattie Pot tomorrow followed by Apple Crumble, Mincemeat plait or Sticky Toffee Pudding. They are going out for Sunday Lunch so I can nip home and be back for choir so that’s good as I must go as we are going to comp in Manchester next weekend.
Just hope my energy levels bump up.. I am thinking it might be the meds. I have been taking them later so probably having a knock on effect with late mornings.

SassitudeandSparkle · 22/02/2019 09:27

Morning! Happy birthday to the cub foxes, hope he has a fabulous day!

SC recovery is just something that can't be rushed unfortunately. Take it easy, you are on read-only setting for a bit Grin

Nigella Apple and Cinnamon muffins (this is on her website if you sign up for it)
2 eating apples, 250g Spelt Flour (or plain, which is what I use), 2tsp baking powder, 125g light brown sugar plus 4 tsps for topping, 125ml honey, 60ml runny natural yoghurt, 125ml flavourless veg oil, 2 eggs, 75g unblanched almonds (I usually skip the almonds)

Oven 200degrees/gas mark 6,

line muffin tin with papers, peel core and chop apples into 1 cm dice. Put flour, baking powder and 1 tsp of cinnamon into a bowl, in another bowl whisk together the 125g sugar, honey, yoghurt, oil and eggs. If using almonds, chop roughly add half to flour bowl, put other half in bowl with the other tsp of cinnamon and the 4 tsps of sugar for topping. Fold wet ingredients into dry, add chopped apple. Spoon into tin, add topping, bake for 20 mins, let stand for 5 before cooling on wire rack.

See you later!

Ooh yes Foxes that is really off re optician is it one of the big firms or independent? Think what if you caused an accident when driving! I’m not very assertive but sometimes you need to be. You could ask how are they going to compensate you for the mistake.

I wear glasses. I need to go and chose some actually. Damn I should have done that in the hols. I will get DD to help chose when she gets back next week.

I probably won’t be back till Monday as no internet down there. Have a good weekend everyone.

Bowerbird5 · 22/02/2019 09:34

Yummy thanks Sass I will print that off to take with me. Can make dairy free too. Mmmmmm!

Sanguineclamp · 22/02/2019 09:53

Thanks everyone!

Wow all that cooking sounds scrummy Bower! Do take it steady though if you are feeling tired! Safe travelling and have a good weekend!

Sass I 've never tried them with spelt flour either and plain works well imho. This recipe is good I think compared with many apple muffins which can be a bit flavourless.

Cagliostro · 22/02/2019 14:22

Hello all. I’ve not been keeping up at all sorry, I’d missed that it was actually the major surgery you had sc I’m so so glad it’s finally happened! But please for the love of god woman take it easy! ❤️💐

We’ve had a very lacklustre half term. Exercise bike is built though. And we’ve finally ordered a couple of things including a trampoline for the Caglets so that’s some anti procrastination I suppose.

SassitudeandSparkle · 22/02/2019 14:29

We've had a quiet half-term and really enjoyed it - well, as much as we could considering it's because DD has been so ill! Normally we are off out here, there and everywhere - but I have also enjoyed the break. We've spent lots of time together.

Quite a nice day here, the lovely weather this week has really helped the laundry pile as I can dry things outside. In fact, another load ready to come out now so I'll get back to it and catch you all later.

OP posts:
Sanguineclamp · 22/02/2019 14:39

Thanks so much Cag will do! Grin It was major (albeit fairly standard) surgery but health care so fantastic here, it minimises the enormity of it ifyswim. So I genuinely feel v lucky.

DD (at fifteen and a half) and her friends still really love trampolining, in fact they go to one particular friend's house just to do that (and did so for an entire day last weekend) so it's a good long-lived investment. Hope your dp can enjoy exercise bike.

Sanguineclamp · 22/02/2019 14:46

Aye Sass/Cag/I've/Zoo it's nice to just "be" at home sometimes.

Stilllivinginazoo · 22/02/2019 15:48

cag just be mindful check trampoline regularly for wear and tear/tighten bolts.friends of zoolets mum didn't and result was broken wrist and ankle.we had give up on ours when cat kept shredding safety netnot even our cat Angry

I need to vent ladies,sorry..

AAAAARRRRGH
Got up this morning, let in scoutcat to eat his brekkie and got on fixing zoolets something to eat.screams I run in to find him sit middle floor horrified zoolets crying...
He has blood and goo seeping down his neck from a semi mangled looking ear
Off to vets, another cat got him.had have ear shaved, wounds flushed, antibiotics and anti inflammatory jabs and more anti inflammatory meds to last til Monday then it's back again to check on wounds.theres two "clumps" of back ear flesh missingSad
I'm angry cos I KNOW urchin responsible is an unspayed aggressive black fluffy cat that clearly thinks owns neighbour good terrorising all cats.i don't know if it has owner/who owns it.my vent is wtf don't people get their damn pets spayed?boys aren't dear and it surely can't be allowed inside as bastarding thing sprays EVERYWHERE it goes.poor scoutcats very sorry for himself in his cone of shame .we had to borrow do rent money(due monday) to pay the vet and that means Sundays benefits will leave us £15 after bills for food.a because some selfish fucker wouldn't spay their evil catAngrySad

Cagliostro · 22/02/2019 15:54

Oh yikes zoo will do. I keep meaning to write out my list of daily/weekly/monthly etc chores and will add trampoline check to that

We actually meant to get one as soon as we moved, never having had a garden before it was a priority, but we still managed to procrastinate over it.

SassitudeandSparkle · 22/02/2019 17:18

zoo, what can I say Sad

OP posts:
foxessocks · 22/02/2019 17:26

Oh no zoo poor cat 🐈 I can understand your anger!

Thank you bower re penguin Smile that's so kind . As for opticians it is Specsavers and to be fair they have said vision with the glasses is perfect it's just the quality of the edging but when you pay that much you do expect perfect quality! And I'm a bit miffed they have just told me to come back in and wait for another hour without offering me any money back!

Thanks for the birthday wishes dd has had a great day we've been to the cinema and out for lunch. No birthday cake today as her party is at the weekend but I have just made a banana loaf . We've got visitors tomorrow and I'm having that last minute have I got enough food panic. Unfortunately my little nephew can't come now and we were so looking forward to a visit, they are all poorly Sad they've never managed to make it to dds birthday due to various circumstances so we were especially pleased they were going to come, never mind can't be helped.

I seriously need to move my bum and sort out some tea for the dc and tidy up the huge mess in our living room. Toys everywhere!! Dd got a lot of jewellery making kits so we have tiny beads all over the place Hmm

Sanguineclamp · 22/02/2019 18:28

Oh no Zoo hope Scoutcat ok and not too traumatized Sad. A real bummer for the bank balance too!

So sorry Foxes I got mixed up blame the anaesthetic thought it was your ds's birthday not your DD's! Glad she had a great day!

Hope the decorating is going ok Tibni

Stilllivinginazoo · 22/02/2019 18:32

Bead kits need doing on a tray/utilize an old Xmas chocolate tub FOXES(we've laminate and beads got EVERYWHERE)glad she had a good day.theres no such thing as too much picnic foodGrin

Dinners on
Meatballs with roasted cauliflower and couscous flavoured with garlic and sundry tomatoes for little ones.i need comforting pasta,so that's what dd2 and I having with pesto whatever veg in fridge left that can be roasted and cheese

Stilllivinginazoo · 22/02/2019 18:36

SC he was a bit grumpy not allowed out on a sunny day,but has been quite clingy headbutting our faces and in doing so garotting us all with his cone of shame!!he's laying on back sofa now having been handfed some tuna and beef dreamiest treats(his fave snacks)going to be trying at night I think as needs stay downstairs as trays down here and stops him and the girls getting up to mischief unsupervised (suspect they will gang up on him from behind now he has a disadvantage)this means ritual storing all over anyone who sleeps down with him as everyone move he will get excited for letting/food in the middle of the night!!

Stilllivinginazoo · 22/02/2019 18:37

*ritual stamping
*Petting/food

SassitudeandSparkle · 22/02/2019 18:41

Sorry foxes, that was me this morning that got your DD and DS mixed up Blush

Meatballs and pasta for DD, mince in gravy and cauli mash for DH and I tonight.

OP posts:
foxessocks · 22/02/2019 18:43

Ha zoo now you tell me! Grin this is the first time she has had so much stuff with tiny parts!! And she just started opening everything before I could really process what she was doing. Add 2 yo ds into the mix and it was a big old mess. But they did have fun! We've had jewellery making, unicorn making, sewing and a fairy garden with tiny packets of fairy dust so you can imagine the clean up I've just had to do! Shock dh has got them in the bath now and tbh I'm just sitting down. I can tackle the rest of the housework and baking before anyone arrives tomorrow hopefully

No worries sc Smile she certainly has had a great day, and I love five year olds already, she's becoming so independent but still really cute and cuddly Grin

foxessocks · 22/02/2019 18:44

Don't worry sass I get them mixed up too! Grin also randomly had loads of people think they are twins recently Hmm

Sanguineclamp · 22/02/2019 19:01

Foxes Ooh love a fairy garden Smile

Zoo sounds like you are in for a long night cat-sitting

Sass I'm afraid the golden arches has supplied our supper tonight Blush but dd not complaining. Yours sounds much healthier!

Everyone de-mob happy here after a bit of a testing week. One day together tomorrow then dh off to States for a week crack of dawn Sunday [sigh]. Crap timing.

TooStressyTooMessy · 22/02/2019 20:45

Hi all, sorry I have been AWOL over half term and now we have DD2’s birthday weekend coming up. SC, take it easy, glad you got your op done (if that is the right phrasing to use!) and certainly for me, I am not squeamish in my job at all so medical descriptions don’t bother me).

Tons to do so must get on. Apologies for not catching up with the thread, hope everyone is ok.

TooStressyTooMessy · 22/02/2019 20:46

Happy birthday to your DD too foxes Smile.
