Fledglings are awesome in August - the Flylady thread

Welcome to the August Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

This is the August thread so I am reliably informed that it is usually more of a general chat thread. Links won’t be posted by an official ‘thread leader’ every day but I will leave some links in this OP. Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

I love online delivery! I think now we've moved we will be doing more top up shops though as we live very near a small Tesco and huge Asda.

I have three as well, DD1 is 11, DS is nearly 9 and DD2 is 9 months. The older two are autistic and home educated so life is pretty hectic!

Argh I can hear the baby being a grump. Need to do some tidying unpacking and cleaning this morning but I'm sooooo tired

HillsBesideTheSea · 01/08/2018 08:49

cucumber because you are teaching the important life skills?

I have to do all the things. I don't want to do any of the things. Oh and i overslept.

to do
Wales
measure a thing
get dressed
laundry
tidy landing
tidy dining room
tidy lounge
hoover all the things
tidy my room!!!!

Oh and the deadline is tea time tonight. Yay me.

*disclaimer the list is not in order, bad things would happen if the list was in order. nakedness in public really is frowned upon...

Bowerbird5 · 01/08/2018 09:09

Welcome give me. I was a bit sleepy before. I have four children all grown up. The youngest has just come home after going to Uni( in 2010) which is taking a bit of getting used to. I am still decluttering her stuff. Not much left belonging to boys as they had less and I drop off anythink I find now so they can deal with it the way they want. I kept some as I thought I might get grandchildren but it is looking less likely now so I have decided it is stupid keeping stuff in case. Have kept books though but think I will go through them again. I work in a primary school so I do use quite a few for story time.

Racehorses- it is one or the other😉 I will check. I always think of it though. Yes, racehorses have an official birthday so they can plan which age race they run in. Eg two year olds at York.

Bowerbird5 · 01/08/2018 09:22

Yes you are right it is 🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🎂 happy birthday to the Southern Hemisphere thoroughbreds. I get mixed up 😉

To do list
Sort washing
Wash kitchen floor
Sort jigsaws into piles of keep me and don't keep me
Put gardening magazines into drawers in shed for September and any others.
Take DD to see friend.
Pick DH up from station. Must buy food for DH to eat.
Water plants as hose ban starts.

Givemeallyourcucumber · 01/08/2018 09:45

So food shop is postponed until after DDs nap. All 3 of them are playing together in the garden and seem very happy.

I have read the flylady website in the past but will have another look now while all children are not acting to feral.

Jobs for today are (in not particular order):
-Clean bathroom (it's small and quite clean already so shouldn't be too bad)
-tidy front room (kids can help, it's there mess)

  • tidy bedrooms
-hoover upstairs -clean out old fridge -small food shop (it's my birthday this weekend and we have lots of days out planned and then are off on holiday on Sunday!)

Should be easy she says... We will see!

The children are 5, 4 and 21 months so all still need a lot of attention/life guidance!

Givemeallyourcucumber · 01/08/2018 09:46

Oh and actually put a wash on or 4

IVEgotthePOWER · 01/08/2018 09:48

Givemeallyourcucumber · 01/08/2018 09:48

Bloody spelling and grammar. I never cared that much about mistakes until I joined Mumsnet!

Givemeallyourcucumber · 01/08/2018 09:49

I have started Christmas planning already!

I am going to go for it this year. Last year was a cop out and I felt bad for the kids. This year I will show e Christmas in their faces!

IVEgotthePOWER · 01/08/2018 09:49

Welcome cucumber

I have four dc aged 10, 9, 5 and errrr 21 months (had to count there)

Givemeallyourcucumber · 01/08/2018 09:51

*shove.
Dear god!
Note to self, I MUST proof read!

IVEgotthePOWER · 01/08/2018 09:51

There will be many mistakes on this thread no worries there. i am looking at no one in particular Grin

Givemeallyourcucumber · 01/08/2018 09:52

Haha, I only know her age quickly as so many people ask. I sometimes say nearly 2 but it breaks my heart as I want her to still be a baby. Her nickname is tiny! And it forever will be!

IVEgotthePOWER · 01/08/2018 09:52

Ty for the thread stressy
Great opener hills

Ta da

Errr nothing

IVEgotthePOWER · 01/08/2018 09:54

Is she 2 in oct or nov cucumber?

Mine is middle oct. He is anything but tiny.

HillsBesideTheSea · 01/08/2018 10:02

Would it freak people out that I am already onto next year's gift making???

Givemeallyourcucumber · 01/08/2018 10:05

She is end of October! Almost a Halloween baby!

Givemeallyourcucumber · 01/08/2018 10:06

Oh and she is not tiny either! That's why so many people ask her age I think! She's very solid...in a good way!

IVEgotthePOWER · 01/08/2018 10:18

Yes our 'little' ds is very solid but lacking hair and extremely baby faced. He looks like a huge baby lol

firehousedog1 · 01/08/2018 10:43

I need to come back with my tail between my legs Blush Its not even been a week yet but school summer holidays are taking their toll on my routine. Been out most of the week so far. At home today though plus weather is not great so opportunity knocks.

Ta da

Stilllivinginazoo · 01/08/2018 10:54

I've could you possibly be discussing my zoo howlers per chance?!I can't think of anything particularly outstanding at present but haughty corner was a classic!(I do proof read,I swear,i repel technology and my phone hates me!!haha

I have weighed in junk food
Buttered shed load of rolls
Laid tables
Washed up

Am now home from community cafe looking at mess whilst shoving malt loaf in my face and deciding where if to start!

Stilllivinginazoo · 01/08/2018 10:58

Ps I think we are deffo go smack thru two threads rate the chitchat been going on today!!

Oh and cag yesterday sounded lovely!
We also breed Playmobil and games and books which I find very hard to cull or store(esp Playmobil as she buys huge bits.we currently have the town house in front room as moving it threatens collapse, pirate treasure island only fits in huge crate broken into four bits, entire selection vets stuff and huge horse stablesas well as smaller sets!!)
My geroes)/quality street/celebration sweet addiction comes in handy for the tubs at Xmas for Lego sets!!(my excuse to eat more and I'm sticking to it!!)

Stilllivinginazoo · 01/08/2018 10:59
IVEgotthePOWER · 01/08/2018 11:10

Stilllivinginazoo · 01/08/2018 11:27

You know that's meant to say heroes right I've...

I still am undecided where to start as it seems zoolets drop things wherever they stop(belongings etc) I don't want spend all summer ranting like a fishwife, but it's either pick it up or suck it up when they complain being moaned at isn't it

Think living room is most in need, and laundry
