Flying high in July (or trying to!) - the FlyLady thread

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 30/06/2018 09:14

A warm (or cooling with our current weather) welcome to the July Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day the thread leader (me this month) posts links and missions from the Flylady site and also some friendly (!) personal comments. This is quite a ‘talky’ thread but we try our hardest not to be cliquey and new members are very welcome! I will do my best to keep track of everybody Smile.

Please note that Flylady is (understandably) keen for people to click on her site so please do have a look around the site and the links. On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

The first day of the month is Sunday. Since it’s a weekend there is no official mission or zone work, unless you want to of course.

*
Here is the daily summary for Sunday (also available on the Flylady website at flight plan which should update automatically each day).

I assume we are going into zone 1 next week which is the entrance area. However this week we have been in the living room. The Flylady website can take a few days to update the zones when the month changes so I will have a good look at it tomorrow and Monday to see where we are.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

Spend 15 mins decluttering, or whatever you can manage, in Zone 5/ zone 1.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 5 is here.

Once I figure out July’s habit I will let you know what it is!

Happy flying everyone.

You need to poke a bit harder still here.

Lovely and cool in house as it is stone and I have windows open. Breeze flowing through front to back.

Cagliostro · 26/07/2018 14:50

Pottering about here today. Just so nice to actually feel house proud! We have a long way to go (particularly as we still have some furniture to buy) but it's fun getting there!

Argh DD2 has horrible nappy rash, just in the errr cracks so to speak, and it's got little white blisters?! Not had that before, does it sound like thrush? But her mouth and my boobs are fine. She has just cut a tooth but this seems quite extreme :(

foxessocks · 26/07/2018 15:05

Poor thing cag I'm not sure about that either , might be worth a trip to GP?

I'm here just so hot I can't get motivated to do much!

Ta da
Made oat and honey muffins

That's all really. Decided on fishcakes for dinner tonight with corn on the cobs and salad. Tomorrow chicken stir fry. These are the least hideous cooking and eating options I could think of in this heat...(obviously I'm crazy because I was baking in this heat this afternoon!)

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/07/2018 15:06

Possibly cag, could be heat related?I remember one of mind had intermittent white spots on tummy when got warm.vaguely remember back in mists of time be told milk spots/blocked pores and would pass
Is she try scratch it when nappy is off?

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/07/2018 15:06

Dd2 had thrush as toddler.was like hd ants in pants, constant scratching!!

So pleased you are enjoying your new home

Bowerbird5 · 26/07/2018 15:42

It does help writing it on here. I have been motivated. Cleaned under the bed. No more dust bunnies!
Found a phone charger which means I don't need to empty the car today. Hurray!

Going to make something to eat...not really hungry.
Taking handbags out to find out what is in them alas I don't expect any money to surface.
DH reckons watching machine IS still under some sort of warranty 😃 I had found a cheap one on gumtree for temporary measures.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 26/07/2018 15:44

Hello, sorry am at work, will be on later

Bowerbird5 · 26/07/2018 15:49

Great to hear you are loving new home.
I think might be heat too. Nappy off time.

Foxes are you mad? Mind you I am going to have to make black currant jam tomorrow. We have loads and courgettes are now growing before my eyes. Like buses none then four at once!

Seems to have passed zoo. It came on very suddenly and went within half an hour. Probably food related.lack of it and I ate some Polish chocolate mallow things, naughty.

Bowerbird5 · 26/07/2018 15:50

Hi see you later too Stressy.😃

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/07/2018 15:55

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/07/2018 17:25

We don't have thunder
We have had no rain in weeks(unless you count the thunder spots last Fri evening that didn't even wet path properly
It's hot, hot, hot, dusty and drier than my sense of humour...

I do hope you went and stood out in back garden?!
I'm hoping to if we get any when it's not dark(bit scared storms in the dark,so much more theatrical and so loud and bright)

Ground bit of a halt.did some yoga stretches I found on Pinterest for my back and that's about it!!

Tea is whatevers left kicking around til Sunday(payday) which requires no cooking...
Odds on favourites tonight are slothernly bowls cereal and fruit or dregs of cheese salad sandwiches

HillsBesideTheSea · 26/07/2018 17:49

HonkyWonkWoman · 26/07/2018 18:33

Just got back from looking after Dgs10 at their house, so no Ta da's at mine, not even emptied Dw from last night.
All my Ta da's done for Dd, generally tootling round doing bits as necessary: mainly washing related.
Have made a Chicken dinner for them all as she was working till 6 tonight, will have a rumage in freezer later on for mysef, although not very hungry with this heat.
So all that is getting done here, is Empty Dw and S & S bathroom.
Can't wait for the expected storm! I love a bit of thunder and lightning!
Wing flaps to (more productive than me), Fledglings!

Cagliostro · 26/07/2018 18:54

Have nothing in for dinner. Going to brave asda. Waited till now but it's still so fucking hot 😢

Blisters have subsided a lot between changes but I'll still ask.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 26/07/2018 19:09

You are so right about the effect of too much stuff zoo and Cag.

Not sure about what to do with videos Bower, definitely nowhere round here will take them except the tip.

Very kind of you for all your ta das for DD Honky.

Great to hear you had rain SC! We had a very quick 5 minute rain shower and then blazing sunshine again.

Very impressed with baking foxes.

Hope weekend not too muddy Hills.

Big wing flaps to all. No ta das here really as have been at work all day. DDs have had shower so that is something I guess.

Tonight I have to sew 5 Brownie badges on. Ugh. I love Brownies but hate the sewing.

I posted earlier and lost it! Basically I have decluttered a hell of a lot today and made lovely fishcakes but totally ruined the corn on the cobs so we just ate fishcakes cucumber and tomatoes. That was all really!! Grin

Cagliostro · 26/07/2018 21:35

We still haven't eaten dinner Blush Hmm

Spent ages waiting at the pharmacy (they recommended canasten to treat and metanium after). Then on the way back DD got all anxious, she is full of the woes of life ATM completely obsessing about puberty, it's exhausting as due to the ASD and learning difficulties she repeats her questions endlessly. I reckon she could be another year from periods etc and she's super skinny with no real hint of boobs, but a couple of her friends are 'ahead' and she's feeling left out :(

Anyway we sat on a bench and talked it out which was nice, it's lovely having the beautiful park almost on our doorstep.

Last day of cleaning the old house tomorrow. We are all exhausted and I have declared Monday (DH's next day off work) our first family fun day. We have been so busy that we've not really had time just enjoying being together in our new home (much as it's been fun unpacking and building furniture etc). So it is officially a do what we want day. We might have an evening picnic or something (it was lovely as we walked back once cooler) and we won't do any unpacking etc.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 26/07/2018 22:18

foxes, I am really impressed with your decluttering. What’s the secret.

Glad you got some cream for Cagletini,
Cag. Aw your poor DD. It can be such a difficult age at the best of times. I was short, small and quite a late developer and remember so clearly the feeling of being behind Sad. I obsessed about it (no ASD element, just was difficult being behind friends etc) and tbh I think it was just a case of getting through those years I will still always want bigger boobs though.

It’s yet another design flaw I always think, that puberty can be so difficult!
