Flying high in July (or trying to!) - the FlyLady thread

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 30/06/2018 09:14

A warm (or cooling with our current weather) welcome to the July Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day the thread leader (me this month) posts links and missions from the Flylady site and also some friendly (!) personal comments. This is quite a ‘talky’ thread but we try our hardest not to be cliquey and new members are very welcome! I will do my best to keep track of everybody Smile.

Please note that Flylady is (understandably) keen for people to click on her site so please do have a look around the site and the links. On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

The first day of the month is Sunday. Since it’s a weekend there is no official mission or zone work, unless you want to of course.

*
Here is the daily summary for Sunday (also available on the Flylady website at flight plan which should update automatically each day).

I assume we are going into zone 1 next week which is the entrance area. However this week we have been in the living room. The Flylady website can take a few days to update the zones when the month changes so I will have a good look at it tomorrow and Monday to see where we are.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

Spend 15 mins decluttering, or whatever you can manage, in Zone 5/ zone 1.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 5 is here.

Zoo yeah I figured that was the case, bit of a bugger though.

Just drinking a crap ton of coffee and doing all the things. It rained here this afternoon and as such brought blissful relief from the heat.

Wow well done with ironing foxes and with grass cutting zoo StarStar.

You are making me jealous with all your ikea storage Cag Smile.

Big wing flaps to Ive, Bower, Honky and Hills and everyone else.

Is it your DD’s birthday SC or have I got that wrong? Happy birthday to her if it is!

Rained here this morning out warm this afternoon.

Well, some days just get given over. I was full of good intentions.
Friend called after I had just started and wanted to go for coffee. So we went to local small garden centre and had lovely lemon cake too. We strolled around and on way back the police followed us for several miles upsetting friend so I suggested we pull into antique shop and have a browse. Just as she went to move into correct lane they decided to overtake. 😱

Had a good browse and friend bought a naice print of dogs and a pheasant. Went back for cool drink at mine and neighbour called to ask if DH could take bin out. I took it. Mustn't forget to do mine.
Had cup of tea with them so another hour. Then another call. Just cleaning bathroom now from this morning.boudoir will have to wait till tomorrow as going with first friend to a quiz.
Well done on ironing I was planning on doing mine this afternoon😝
Some days don't go to plan but I feel lovely and relaxed!

Bowerbird5 · 24/07/2018 18:21

Oooh yes good grass cutting / gardening zoo. Our garden is getting better. Veg patch looking good. Idon't do grass very much DH s job. Ha ha. I get out of that one.
Been to check out more summer houses as there was one there. Still like the first family ones. Wish he would send price.

Cagliostro · 24/07/2018 18:47

Well done everyone! Getting anything done in this heat is a win I think.

I ended up having a nap earlier but we've managed a bit of unpacking - more kitchen stuff washed, more toys unpacked into trofast buckets and we even started sorting the Playmobil (they have loads all mixed up)!

Cagliostro · 24/07/2018 18:56

I had just started dinner - using gas hob for first time in years - when the ice cream van came and I had promised so dinner is now on hold as the baby is grumpy. It has been really hard work today as she is so grumpy from teething and the heat.

I'll do dinner after her feed and then we will sort all the clothes. A friend is bringing a hanging rail which will be useful until we get our wardrobe.

Really really annoyed, the shizz has hit the fan at DH's work and he has to work tomorrow. This was going to be our last day of full on work at the old house, so I'm not quite sure what we will do now. We could go over in the morning but we would only get a couple of hours tomorrow and the same on Thursday (when we knew he was already working so we were going to stay here instead) as he would have to leave at 12. Better than nothing though, it's just annoying having to do extra travel to get it all done.

Stilllivinginazoo · 24/07/2018 19:44

You have done so well cag a pita but don't play down what you have achievedStar

Stressy hope you day's gone ok

Waves Brew and ice-cream in hope draws I've out of hiding

10.40pm and Cagletini is crawling at speed around the bedroom (at least the bits not covered in notquitedry laundry) chattering away and banging wooden bricks together very loudly.

At least she is no longer screaming! I eventually gave her some calpol and she cheered up very quickly after so I think it's teething

Stilllivinginazoo · 25/07/2018 08:24

Morning all!!
Nspired by cag and her heroic, epic decluttering for the big move I've decided I need to ramp it up a few notches and dig in!!!
Tada
Bleach lav
Littertray and bins
Fed cats
Wash on
Sweep kitchen floor
Sweep hall floor

Start decluttering living room-
Behind sofa under window-3xbrc sorted
Tidy under computer table, and on top of it
Clear around TV unit/tidy some dvds
Clear under dining table
Clear corner by kitchen door

I've spent 2.5hrs in here so far.i have accrued
-a carrier bag out date/no longer used meds
-- bag plastic recycling(drink bottles etc stuffed into forgotten crevices)
binbag FULL of what can only be described as crap wtf do I hold onto some of these things for?--
--binbag for chazza shop
--2 carrier bags of paper recycling
--plethora cat toys which kits are VERY excited aboutGrin

It's not pristine by I can SO see where I've been, which I'm hoping will spur me on

I've put a plastic crate in middle room and tossed in anything that shouldn't be in the front room, that's overflowing!!

Wash on airer
Another load in
Zoolets are fed and watered

Debating which bit to go at next,as it was an early start I expect run out of steam relatively early(not to mention the heat zapping me)

IVEgotthePOWER · 25/07/2018 08:30

Stilllivinginazoo · 25/07/2018 08:43

IVEgotthePOWER · 25/07/2018 09:04

Contemplating zoo but seems madness when only moved here a year ago

HillsBesideTheSea · 25/07/2018 09:11

I suppose ive the question would be, are you considering taking him?

Another day of caffiene and pain killer fuelled stuff. I have a day off work today so really need to get ALL the things done. Didn't quite achieve what I needed to yesterday but achieved other things so swings and roundabouts.

foxessocks · 25/07/2018 09:16

I'm so grumpy this morning! Need to snap out of it.

Stilllivinginazoo · 25/07/2018 09:52
HillsBesideTheSea · 25/07/2018 09:59

I am afraid I need a list, if you are easily scared skip this list!!!

Finish tidying lounge
put cook book onto new shelf
hoover through and up the stairs
put door mat in to wash
hoover the curtains
lay plastic and rug
wash rug
laundry
tackle my room
tackle ds' room
sort the lego
hoover the landing
hoover my room
bleech the bathroom to within an inch of its life
take the rubbish out
take the recycling out
check new tub for blankets actually fits
put blankets into tub and tub away
wash my bedding including duvet --i split my coffee and milky coffee spill in this heat is bad
Ring the hospital
delegate cleaning of picture and mirrors in hall and landing
Move things in hall to get to the bit needed for washing the upolstery.
wash the upolstery
ironing

Yep I think that more or less covers what needs to be done today...

You know you are stressed when you start dreaming about work and killing off random people. Thankfully it was a natural causes kinda thing rather than murder but I clearly need to get to the weekend when I am doing nothing but relaxing!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 25/07/2018 10:29

Morning all, just been into work for a couple of hours and now heading home. Will see what DH and DDs are doing. Hoping to see some Brownie badges today but not sure if I will run out of time, we’ll see.
