Flying high in July (or trying to!) - the FlyLady thread

A warm (or cooling with our current weather) welcome to the July Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day the thread leader (me this month) posts links and missions from the Flylady site and also some friendly (!) personal comments. This is quite a ‘talky’ thread but we try our hardest not to be cliquey and new members are very welcome! I will do my best to keep track of everybody Smile.

Please note that Flylady is (understandably) keen for people to click on her site so please do have a look around the site and the links. On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

The first day of the month is Sunday. Since it’s a weekend there is no official mission or zone work, unless you want to of course.

*
Here is the daily summary for Sunday (also available on the Flylady website at flight plan which should update automatically each day).

I assume we are going into zone 1 next week which is the entrance area. However this week we have been in the living room. The Flylady website can take a few days to update the zones when the month changes so I will have a good look at it tomorrow and Monday to see where we are.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

Spend 15 mins decluttering, or whatever you can manage, in Zone 5/ zone 1.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 5 is here.

Ta da:-
Swapped to slightly better deal on our gas and electricity. Tbh not sure the savings were worth the huge amount of time on the phone and possible cost of the calls - have been trying to get through for days.
Went through DD2’s fancy dress stuff and agreed we would get rid of one outfit Hmm.
That’s about it.
DH has gone out for a run (in this heat Shock), when he gets back he is going to cook tea
I have enforced some quiet time for the girls and am trying to get some laundry off the line.

Cag Brew.
Very impressed with your list Hills.
Also impressed with living room declutter zoo.
Both homemade veg soup and lunch out sounded good Honky!
Hope you managed to feel less grumpy foxes. I also had a grump, have lots on at work and kids were arguing but feel better after having made a coffee and got them to have a sit down.
Interesting about looking at house Ive!

Must check the laundry. Big wing flaps to all.

The problem with sitting is it shunts everything left into one evening plus what was already planned for that evening. It is a bit of a disaster tbh... Yep my deadline for guest ready completely tidy house is tomo evening... Bugger and bollocks.

Bowerbird5 · 25/07/2018 22:58

Hi,
Ta Das not as many as Hills great list.
Cleaned bathroom.
Loaded dishwasher.
Cleared out one school bag.
Picked up DD and took her out for lunch.
Sat by lake fell asleep for 15 minutes.
Supermarket quick shop on return.
Picked black currants for BF
Watered garden.

Cagliostro · 25/07/2018 23:07

Well this morning was slow. Felt a bit glum being back at the old house TBH. Will be glad to give the keys back.

Today wasn't so productive, well it was but most of it was cleaning as we go type stuff made worse by DS spilling his blackcurrant drink over DD's new bed and me getting covered in cereal because he hadn't put it back properly, and finding milk all over the floor as DD thought it unnecessary to drain the milk from her bowl before tipping the leftovers away. All cleanable and the Caglets did their bit but man alive they drive me nuts!

We are not going to the old house again tomorrow, will spend the morning catching up on stuff here, bit more laundry unpacking etc. Housing officer is doing the settling in visit in the afternoon.

Morning all!

35 °c degrees here today and 37°c tomorrow. I am cleaning for guests (wibble). Have permanent headache I think because air v heavy. Worried for dhorse because his body mass is so huge he can't dispel heat easily (fortunately has lots of natural shade where he is though). Ddog also unhappy.
Sorry for whinge; just a bit stressed because there's so much to do!

Hope everyone else coping ok! X

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/07/2018 07:51

Ment be 34 here today SC
I was up before 5,decided go full throttle til lunchtime then cool bath n hog the fan!!

Tada
2hours mucking out cupboard understairs ruthlessly
Why have I been keeping half finished art projects so long.ffs I've got fairy fridge magnets dd2 started in year 1(she's year 10srpt)the trouble with too much "stuff" is you get overwhelmed and don't see what you have or use it.if found 2carrierbags of stuff they could've done, now outgrown (bagged up for chazza)I've filled 2binbags with broken/bits missing toys, and loads crap incl bad quality street wrappers I'd hoarded for collagesBlush....
Craft drawers been sorted too.got loads paint and brushes, but not much plain paper(few sheets)but loads lined(3pads)another case not knowing what we have need
On plus I found loads beads/jewellery making stuff so if get predicted stops tom we have a project to do and another item out cupboard that

Kitchen
Clear and clean top microwave
Scrub and disinfect surfaces
Wipe toaster and kettle
Wipe cupboard fronts
Wash floor

As well as usual
Sweep living room and kitchen floors
Fed cats
Empty bins
Bleach lav
Wash on-now on airer

To do
Shops for water(I don't drink, smoke, drink anything else.tap water here is revolting)milk and bread..the zoolets seem eat loads more in the heat!
Would like finish hackinv down the garden before the rains come(bramble patch isn't appealing, but post rain growth will be even less so!!)
Ironing(maybe)
Poss make start on boy dungeon(possnot)

Hope everyone's got water in fridge/ice at the ready!!

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/07/2018 07:52

Someone explain how predicted rains became stops?!Confused

Cagliostro · 26/07/2018 08:37

I thought you meant predicted strops :o

the trouble with too much "stuff" is you get overwhelmed and don't see what you have or use it

Yep. Story of my life tbh

I am sneezy and headachey

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/07/2018 08:55

Predictive strops are a given in the heat cag and that's just me Grin

Been shops
Zoolets fed and watered
Wash machine reloaded
Off into the garden....

Bowerbird5 · 26/07/2018 13:34

Hi,
Sounds like our house too the half finished or not even started projects! I have the craft room door firmly closed. I need to get rest of house in order before I venture into there.

Feel tired today which is a shame because yesterday I wanted to clean and DD wanted to go out. She is working today and I have had a difficult start to morning,
Had great sleep. No cats or bin men waking me a silly o'clock. Just natural waking to DDs shower. Got up then pulled on clothes to take her to work. Half way up motorway discovered hardly and fuel left. Then to red. Thought I would go on way home and pulled in checked handbag ( luckily never usually do this) no money/ no purse. Drove out and went to sons work. Neither in till 12/6. Limped to regular petrol station and begged Manager. Luckily he let me have £10 s worth then I would get purse and reimburse. Bless him I think I thanked him about five times and also restored his faith in humankind as he had done it a few days before and they hadn't returned. I was back within half an hour. Had a cup of elderflower when I got back and read local paper in garden.
Have phaffed about since then. Loaded dishwasher, answered three phone calls, did two sudokus cleaned out bedside drawer. No containes all my medicines. Starting to feel old. Can remeber mum, nana and granny with tablets on bedside chest so I have put them away so nearby but don't have to look at them.
Have small amount to finish in here. Box that won't fit under bed or anywhere else( maybe could go in Summer House). Box of GCSE CDs and videos. Does anyone know where I could recycle them? Some new as I was working for DK at the time. Presume charity shops won't take videos now.still haven't got around to recycling bras but have another one added to pile. Perhaps that could be my procrastination task on Wednesday!
Tablets are making me really lethargic but also stress and anxiety gone, cant be arsed feeling replaces it. I feel annoyed with myself.

Where is the pointy stick? Please sharpen it and poke me hard with it.
