Hello everyone,
Welcome to the Flylady thread for April, where we follow (sort of) the Flylady system with baby steps, missions, daily focuses (foci?!) and decluttering. But more than that, we are a supportive bunch where we share the trials and tribulations of everyday life. We post our to do and ta da lists and chat a whole lot.
Newbies, lurkers and returners always welcome!
Back tonight with links for tomorrow!

Zut! I have just endured another delightful session of wearing rubbery black out headgear (the kind used for virtual reality games) attached to wires and a computer - being spun around in a large Mastermind chair - and then "manoeuvred" rather energetically strapped to a giant medical "ironing board" - and managed not to puke ...Grin

After all of that, they are now thinking it's not labyrinthitis - and are recommending an MRI - so it's back to the gp.... .

Fark. I am trying not to think of all the other things that could be causing it..but my imagination is running wild ...had better do some chores to take my mind off it all. Absolutely no point in worrying until you have something concrete to worry about (as my late ma used to say).

Dh has promised to fix computer asap (he is very good with computers thank goodness because I'm really not) but in the meantime I've had to cancel work over the weekend as well. Oh well at least I'll have time to make my chicken korma recipe I wanted to try for dinner tomorrowGrin

Zoo Star for doing the ceiling painting! And all of that heroic baking! Hope your dd2 ok bless her x

Foxes sorry you had such a frustrating afternoon! Hope computer fixed soon! Shame about haircut too! Here's to a better one tomorrow!

Goth hope paperwork clearance went ok!

Cheery wing flaps to everyone else!

Thurs is usually veggie night but dd (after being away) was desperate for red meat so chickpea and carroty curry dish thing was served with lamb steak slapped on top! DD devoured it like a crazed wolf Grin so a quick trip to gp to check iron levels may be in order ... .

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 26/04/2018 20:42

Hello all.

SC Flowers. Also Flowers for your DD2 zoo.

foxes, I have memory boxes but not a brilliant system for them. We have A4 shoebox style boxes as they are relatively cheap. I would like something a bit more durable or airtight but can never find anything good or can justify the cost of replacing them all - the boxes tend to be actual shoeboxes or boxes we have acquired from places. We fill probably a box a year for each child and keep them on top of their wardrobes. This worked fine until they were old enough to want to look through the boxes andess everything up in them Hmm. So I don’t have he best system.

One thing I do that works really well is to have sort of ‘temporary’ memory boxes. Just cheap plastic A4 size ones. I keep them downstairs and put ‘important’ pictures, schoolwork etc in them throughout the year but that I may not end up keeping. Works especially well for artwork / souvenirs that you want to keep for a little while in case the kids ask for them but not forever. Then every so often I go through the box and recycle stuff or put it in a proper memory box.

Also one thing I saw that looks awesome is Clutterbug’s video on YouTube about making memory binders for each school year. Needless to say I have not managed to make any but did enjoy watching the video Grin.

Bower, I have a great image of you lying quietly in bed trying to avoid the window cleaner Grin.

Ta da:-
Went to work, had surprisingly lovely day.
Kids in bed

To do:-
Tea
Tidy etc

Need to figure out whether to move DD1 from an activity that she loves that works brilliantly in terms of timings and her friend doing it to another activity that she would love more and that another friend does but is more inconvenient Confused.

Big wing flaps to everyone, going to do something now.

I dont even read the links Blush

I am a fake flyer!

Cagliostro · 27/04/2018 10:19

Me neither! I am a fake hostess 😳

TBH some of them I don’t need to anyway. Once you know the daily focus you don’t need to read it, same with zones really.

I would love to do the missions each day but don’t feel ready to 😳 I am hoping that once we have decluttered and are getting ready to move, the structure of the missions and detailed cleaning lists will help us sort the place out ready for end of tenancy. So it will be mega useful then. But ATM I don’t feel in the right headspace because we still have so much clutter.

My plan when we move is to set up a control journal (I am thinking of ideas now of daily routines etc but will add to it when we are in the new place) and to follow the missions and zones much more closely as we will be starting from scratch and hopefully less cluttered.

You may all laugh at me when we’ve been living in the new house for a month and haven’t unpacked.

OP posts:
Ivegotfamilyandidrinkcupsoftea · 27/04/2018 10:35

cag i do laugh, because we moved last year to a bigger house (twice the size tbh) and had all these good intention. Yeah. It still a tip.

foxessocks · 27/04/2018 10:46

Morning!

Ta da
Dishwasher emptied
Rubbish out
Washing on

To do
Pay nursery fees
Finish daily routine
Declutter bag purse car
Instead of decluttering in the bedroom I'm going to spend some time making a list of clothes I want to look out for and storage for the bedroom. Can't afford much at the moment but will be a list for later (dh birthday coming up so expensive month and made worse by the fact that I now can't work j until the computer is working properly Angry)
Swish and swipe downstairs loo
Make chicken korma for dinner - can make the sauce earlier and heat up later so I might do that if I get time / motivation
Pick up two parcels which will have to wait until after ds afternoon nap now as got to pick dd up soon

Oh and I'm ignoring today's mission of remaking my bed. It's already made so I'm not wasting any more time on it!!

I think following fly lady loosely is the best way, it has definitely helped me with routines but I don't get too bogged down in the missions as a lot of them don't make sense for me to spend time on.

I've also want to make a cake at some point - lemon poppy seed cake but I need to pick up the new cake tin first so I'll see if I get time.

Callmecordelia · 27/04/2018 11:24

For me what's been most helpful is anti procrastination day.

I like the idea of the home bleugh, and I've adapted it to what suits us and this house. I try and loosely do the zones, but if I don't, I don't beat myself up about it.

I've had the morning off. I had ideas of decluttering the en suite. Hasn't happened, but I did have a nice long bath and a chat to my mum. Now I'm going to nip to the Range. So no housework, but I'm just not in the mood! Smile

Stilllivinginazoo · 27/04/2018 11:48

I just come here to chat and post an early routine tada.anything else is a bonus!!Blush
