Hello everyone,
Welcome to the Flylady thread for April, where we follow (sort of) the Flylady system with baby steps, missions, daily focuses (foci?!) and decluttering. But more than that, we are a supportive bunch where we share the trials and tribulations of everyday life. We post our to do and ta da lists and chat a whole lot.
Newbies, lurkers and returners always welcome!
Back tonight with links for tomorrow!

I have to be feeling strong to eat an avocado (texture not my favourite) but dh loves them.

That's great news Foxes! Smile

Clocks name change I'vegotafamily Wink

Zoo, exciting about your DC rooms! Yr plans sound lovely! I feel guilty about dd's - it is big and she has ludicrously large bed (nightmare to change sheets) with lovely linen etc - but room has two holes in the walls/unpainted plaster/one plug/not enough storage and hideous old floor (some sort of 1900 style resinish coating on bare board - a nightmare to remove!). I keep telling her that "old brown furniture" ( which dh and I have) is coming back in to fashion but for some reason she won't hear of it Grin She will have left home by the time we renovate it at this rate but she is third on list of works currently for logistical/electrics schedule reasons.

Aahhh this thread is making me all nostalgic about the days of potato and broccoli puree, potato and carrot puree, pear puree, sweet potato puree ... then after a few months adding in chicken, fish and lamb ... I remember going really over board with all the prep .. DD was a "good doer" as they say in the horse world Grin. But there again, each stage is a novelty if you only do it once.

Foxes

  1. Are you putting loads of clothes in all at once, they can come out crumpled if you overload drum? Best not to fill more than two thirds so room for clothes to circulate properly. Ditto too hot a wash? Or maybe over-vigorous spin? Right temperature for right textile ?
  1. Deffo go cordless. Life-changing while it lasted. But I made mistake of buying cheapo version which is less than useless after about 15 outings. Saving up for better version (not Dyson).
  1. Left to my own devices I use piping hot water and industrial (clear) vinegar. But my cleaner (who is ace) likes Viakal (anti-limescale stuff) - not sure if called same thing in UK - for bathroom tiles and taps etc. She uses Ajax citrus for general surfaces. And I have Dettol ant-bacterial spray thing for wiping plastic tablecloths and when I have prepped raw meat, oh and for cleaning out fridge too (non-smelling). I have made up a swish & swipe post shower small spray of 50% vinegar/50% water which I spray on shower doors after use and then rinse off 5 mins later. Confess to using odd anti-bac wipe for bathroom lav and cloakroom lav when in a hurry but trying to cut down!

Great lists here today - well done everyone!

Can't get hold of person for second bit of negotiation and they are not calling back so back to being a bit anxious now...heigh ho.

Must stop typing, making me dizzy, over and out for now!

Saltcrust · 16/04/2018 18:00

Also use bicarb and water for fridge cleaning but it is a bit of a faff.

Saltcrust · 16/04/2018 18:02

Stilllivinginazoo · 16/04/2018 19:02

I've thrown dd2 in bath not literally she's too heavy, but safer up there than near my twitching to throttle her fingers esp as she keeps giving me evils

Roll on bedtime!!

Stilllivinginazoo · 16/04/2018 19:04

Ah yes,a tada

Fed lil zoo/D's
Washed up
Cleaned dd2 lunchbox ready for tomorrow(other two like paper bags with things drawn on them with lunch in)

Callmecordelia · 16/04/2018 19:04

Ivegot Country House by Blur?

foxessocks · 16/04/2018 19:13

Thanks everyone!

I think I'm guilty of all those issues re washing Blush will try and do better! Have left this load in machine though as nowhere to hang it. So starting tomorrow I'll do better!

Also I just feed ds whatever we are having even if it's crap!! Blush he likes happy meals Grin promise that's not often though! Sweet and sour chicken was a hit tonight. Although a lot of rice ended up in his hair.

foxessocks · 16/04/2018 19:26

I also only ever gave dd one puree which was apple and she spat it out so I never bothered again with either dc. She happily ate apple slices! With dd I did stop putting stock cubes in as I was worried about salt but with ds I didn't even do that, since I don't use stock cubes in every meal and I don't tend to use any jars of sauce I figured it would be fine. The only thing I stuck to was the no honey until they're age one. And I always cut grapes, cherry tomatoes etc even now for dd. If we are having something spicy I add yogurt or cream to dds as she doesn't like spicy things now but ds still does so he gets the spicy version (unless it's really really hot of course!).

Ivegotfamilyandidrinkcupsoftea · 16/04/2018 19:57

YES ZOO 🍪

its from Mouthwash

Ivegotfamilyandidrinkcupsoftea · 16/04/2018 20:01

foxes i try and not feed ds3 as much crap as his dad comes home and feeds him all sorts of crap!

2 of our dc have allergies/intolerances which make meals really fucking interesting. I wont say what as that and combination of dc may make me identifyable but it makes pasta meals for example a fucking pain in the arse

Stilllivinginazoo · 16/04/2018 20:47

I hear that I've got allergies Are bloody nightmare.between my lot we have milk, nuts, sesame, runnerbeansConfused(as peanuts are a legume it's not uncommon be allergic beans or peas)oranges...green apples upset D's.dd2 a veggie.
Add in hayfever, asthma, eczema, allergy to horses.we a sodding nightmare on days out in summer....
I end up with a back pack, half of which has meds in
It's eased up now dd1 independant as she's the most allergic, but then you worry bout them esp with anaphylaxis...luckily her fiance takes it seriously and gave up a love affair with snickers for fear of kissing her at any point after eating one and he can administer her adrenaline.he has not had to.yet...

foxessocks · 16/04/2018 20:57

That all sounds really hard Sad

HillsBesideTheSea · 16/04/2018 21:23

Ha!

I can beat you in this house we have allergies to:
Potato, peppers, tomatos, maize, soya, milk in any form, gluten/wheat, grapes/raisins, garlic, onion, rapeseed oil, vegetable oil, olive oil, peanuts, seaseme seeds, chillies, legumes, rice, one who doesn't eat beef, one who doesn't eat fish (and others but tbh I have got sick of writing stuff) All members of the house have allergies, there is a proper mix of who is allergic to what.

We have asthma, eczema, hayfever (everything from tree to grass pollen via fern spores), dust allergy, fur and feather allergies,

Needles to say this is why I single portion batch cooking, and we don't generally eat out it is manageable though, with the correct planning

HillsBesideTheSea · 16/04/2018 21:24

Ds is being tested to see if he needs an epipen this week. Needless to say he is worried about the test, doesn't want it and is generally in a difficult mood. Fingers crossed they won't have to cancel the tests due to bed shortages.

Stilllivinginazoo · 16/04/2018 21:41

I bow down to your greatness hillsWink
We too do fur, dust, etc and exercise and laughing are asthma triggers here too...

Until I had DC I love any old crap on a tray from freezer heat n eat.back in the day when I had dd1(she's 23now) advice was if says may contain can't have it.virtually everything had to be made incl biscuits so that's how I learnt to cook really,so it's not all bad.made me mindful what I feed them(read lots books on child nutrition)

I have a friend who can't have wheat/gluten and her daughter allergic tomato, peppers and dairy.requires bit thought we eat together.

We been doing it so long now I don't really think about it anymore, kinda automatic check packets and have stand by answers to all occasions(is that same at yours hills?)

Stilllivinginazoo · 16/04/2018 21:43

Is his suspected allergy something he loves hills?

Lil zoo drank so much milk I thought she was a baby cow!!and cheese.later learned as she's not anaphylactic the release histamines throws her lots endorphins so it felt GOOD eating stuff that weren't good for her!!

Stilllivinginazoo · 16/04/2018 21:47

I need get of MN and start winding down
Hospital tom with lil zoo for her eyes.
I not looking forward repeat today having all but drag dd2 out bed by her ears as sat up too late and consequently tired...been warned wake her once, second call be5 m ins before has leave so won't get breakfast(a very unpopular decision )shes been sent bed ranting the unfairness of
having go bed efore 11)erm,on a school night hardly child abuse love)hoping apetite will rouse her!!😁
