Hello everyone,
Welcome to the Flylady thread for April, where we follow (sort of) the Flylady system with baby steps, missions, daily focuses (foci?!) and decluttering. But more than that, we are a supportive bunch where we share the trials and tribulations of everyday life. We post our to do and ta da lists and chat a whole lot.
Newbies, lurkers and returners always welcome!
Back tonight with links for tomorrow!

Morning all Brew

foxes you asked the other day about 4 year olds being emotional and i meant to reply. I found four a really challenging age with my older three. Flowers for you

Afreshcuppateaplease · 12/04/2018 07:32

stressy our council have a page online where you can submit a form if your bin isnt emptied. I have been known to submit this and claim it had been missed by them Blush they come back for it!

Spent yesterday out most of the day then Veggie box turned up and then best friend with b'day present.😄

Went back to look at potting bench and it had gone😔 managed to track down on line but no price so ring today. Local getting more in but didn't know when. May sell me one on show😀 find out today and it of course is all made! Result! Just need them to deliver or BF to collect though her van is full.
Bought four tomato plants while out and some veg seeds. Never been successful with tomatoes so we will see.
No flying in house for two days except cooking. DS had op. Thank goodness but hand bound and in a sling for four days. Very apologetic about cancelling op after six hour wait. As he says they don't consider that he has a business to run. Just wanted him to drop everything and come ( maybe )yesterday. So very glad it turned out so let's hope it is successful alignment. It was an accident playing sport. DS 1 turned up with b'day present. Two out of four have bought me alcohol but it makes me sick at the moment as on medication. I told DS3 to tell them club together to buy potting bench 😗 don't think he has. I haven't seen him he phoned. DD bought me Booja Booja, earrings and a plant.
DH went to stay night with DS re anaesthetic so going to get up for mad tidy while out and have nurse at 9:30 so better get cracking. I have one hour. Not allowed anything except water. I want tea and I'm hungry as just had two poached eggs and toast last night about. 7:30😧

I see you have been very busy.
Yes, Toostressy we do understand about getting excited about storage.i was eyeing up Really Useful boxes again. Also want Smiths A4 boxes with butterflies. They fit under our sofa. No point in wasting space. I keep magazine cutting in them. I have recipe box, gardening, crafts. Need to reorganise crafts into knitting, crochet, other. Hobbycraft had some brown boxes but don't do flat A4. Now. I covered them in the topic so easy recognition.

Pop back later to see how you are flying. I am feeling a bit more up beat today so hope it lasts. Still feeling tired so must remember to speak to nurse about that. Forgot as GP and I discussing children. Hope she will check BP too. Cardi didn't ring back about scan. I was chasing app. I was hoping it would come through in hols. Need it done before seeing Consulant. If he cancels ( because no scan) it means I could have gone on holiday😾

foxessocks · 12/04/2018 12:40

Thanks afresh glad it isn't just dd! She has been hard work this week!!

Afreshcuppateaplease · 12/04/2018 16:19

None of mine so far have had terrible twos

They have all had fucking frustrating fours!

foxessocks · 12/04/2018 16:43

Yeah 3 was worse than 2! She is more reasonable now but if she gets slightly tired she's like the hulk. Transforms in front of our eyes! And she has been crying over strange things a lot. Like a hormonal teenager Confused

Cagliostro · 12/04/2018 16:56

I am on a major go slow today! DH took DD to the optician (prescription amazingly hasn’t changed but she has chosen new replacement glasses since she lost the old ones) we met them and wandered round for a bit, visited a charity furniture shop and discussed plans for the new house - obviously not set in stone but felt good to chew over some ideas. Had lunch as a family then DH went to work and I’ve done fuck all since! It’s so tempting to write off the rest of the day but I really mustn’t.

I think I’ll write a list for us to work through. Tomorrow DH is off and we want to get lots done (was supposed to be so we could get the cotbed delivered on Saturday, but we haven’t measured up and ordered yet...) but I’m thinking we could get lots of easy stuff (no heavy lifting etc) done together now so we have less to do tomorrow.

I hate how we seem to spend days off playing catch up and never actually achieving anything properly. This is DH’s first day off at home for over a fortnight (as we’ve had visit to mum’s, DD’s ballet show and his crazy running thing) so seriously need to make the most of it.

But TIRED.

Right the Caglets have finished their screen time (bought an old Wii game in CEX, they are loving the simpsons ATM) so I’m going to write a list with them and then crack on.

OP posts:
CotswoldStrife · 12/04/2018 20:11

Sorry not to be around much, wringing the best out of the school break here. DD spending a lot of screen time but it does give me a chance to do some housework in the mornings and go out in the afternoon Grin

Cagliostro · 12/04/2018 22:24

Nowt wrong with some conveniently scheduled screen time to help us get shit done :o

Quiet on here today. I have a list I can be proud of!

ta da
✅renewed bus passes for Caglets
✅made a list to work through with the Caglets, went really well! Had stuff like collecting pens, putting shoes away, putting washing up away etc which they did themselves, plus some we did together:
✅sorted out the nappy box, this also included collecting all the opened wipes packets dotted around the house... think there are about 12 😳
✅packed up more board games
✅started sorting through a big load of baby clothes
✅sorted out the medicine shelf, got a bag of stuff to give to pharmacy
✅washing up
✅2nd regular washload is on
✅towels are dry, need to put away (DH washed them this morning)

Yay! Trying to get Cagletini to sleep now, not beat myself up over the few bits that didn’t get finished (lots more DVDs to put away, and the neutral baby clothes need sorting properly into age etc) as we have achieved a lot this evening I think, considering I nearly didn’t bother.

Will now allow myself some internet shopping time. Need to go through my emails and find my voucher code, got a fiver off amazon.

Great lists foxes and Cags.

Went to nurse for bloods and chat. BP great. Beginning to wonder if it was stress but she agreed with going to A&E as she said if that high very risky. Chances high that it could develop further to stroke / heart attack especially when she discovered I have previously. It was good to have time to discuss.
Scan now booked. No return phone call but letter arrived this morning, dated yesterday so I guess someone has slipped up and not booked me in until I highlighted it.
Today
Swish and swipe
Visit to nurse, breakfast in town and small amount of shopping including Smiths ( take note Toostressy) four!
Kitchen worktops and sink area thorough clean
Floor swept.
Fridge tidy
Visited friend to take b'day present.
Sorting through paperwork/ magazines.
Burnt pan, washed pan.
DH went to visit DS and shopped for him. Brought carry out home at 8:30 by which time I could have eaten anything. He phoned and asked me at 7:15 which is how I burnt sliced potatoes in pan. I was going to make a frittata.

Question: DH seemed to think I was snipey. Honest answers pls.

Me: walking around Smiths with four butterfly boxes stacked up meet DH.

DH : Are you buying all those.
Me: no, I'm just walking around the store with them. ( I was about to say I 'm going to put them down in random places but an assistant came around the corner and I thought she might think I meant it.)
Next store.
ME: entering store after just saying can I pop in here for a minute to check it out for birthday present( small gift store)
DH : are you going in this shop.

Me: No, just going in the door then back out.
DH : You're in A snipey mood today.
5 mins LaterDH:You don't want to buy anything in here do you?

Q: do you think I was being moody or just exasperated at his stupid questions?

Been freezing cold again. Never went above 8 C cold wind, then it rained.

Bowerbird5 · 12/04/2018 23:14

We did medicines two days ago. Sorted mine, all good. Sorted DH s and suggested he disposed of them correctly. He has been to town three times since . Still on worktop.
Then says this afternoon " Shall I bin these then if they are out of date.
Would like to suggest he uses them as suppositories but regain and suggests ( for the third or fourth time) he take them to pharmacy!

CotswoldStrife · 12/04/2018 23:16

I was just reading a blog where someone was using a habit tracker. A piece of paper you have to mark off every time you do the habit you are trying to develop for a month. I might do that. To actually see how many times I don't do something might shame me in to doing it! For the more organised, it could be done in a notebook, diary or bullet journal

Tea tonight - sausages & chips for DD, toad in the hole for me and DH. Although I did better with the batter this time, did half the amount and it was crispier!

Two loads of laundry even if one of them was a rewash from the other day some washing up/wiping down and a bit of tidying today.

DD has another costume day coming up over the next couple of weeks (roll on secondary when these will stop) so starting to think about that and buy bits for it.

DD bought herself some music (CDs, we are old school!) as she has some money to spend. Lots of it, actually - I end up paying and then forget to take it out of her share!

DDs activities start again over the weekend, bracing for impact (and invoices, it's time to pay for the final term of everything Hmm )

Bowerbird5 · 12/04/2018 23:16

Restrain not regain bloody auto correct.

Bowerbird5 · 12/04/2018 23:17

Oh I did three loads of washing too. Some DH put in.

Bowerbird5 · 12/04/2018 23:21

Hi cotswold. It sounds a good idea.
I found out from reading an old magazine that you can have an app and type in your shopping and it will list the best price from main stores and if you want order it for you😳
I don't have any Apps.

HillsBesideTheSea · 13/04/2018 01:53

Bowerbird5 · 13/04/2018 06:20

I was on iPad Hills. My phone is as old as the hills and I hardly use it. I can go days without checking which annoys everyone!😄 especially the kids!
Sorry you are in pain. Is the panic connected. I sometimes get panic /anxiety attacks. Trying to work out if it is the medication or situation.hope you feel better soon.

Morning Afresh. Early! I was awake from 3:40-5 plus. Awake because thirsty and loo now may or may not go back to sleep. Should get up. Going to make tea first.

Ugh bad night with Cagletini and now my throat is sore :( although that may be because I left the heater on all night and dried the air out

I love the idea of a habit tracker. I’ve looked at apps but I really like the idea of the paper one as well, especially as being a maths nerd I love squared and dotty paper :o

OP posts:
foxessocks · 13/04/2018 07:20

bower i would say that the silly questions made you grumpy I get like that sometimes Grin

I can't live without my phone either! But then I don't have a tablet just an old laptop that doesn't work too well.

I finished my list yesterday and was quite pleased by how much I got done even though dh was late home as well. We are off to a playgroup this morning but then another quiet day after that I think.

Bowerbird5 · 13/04/2018 07:39

Thanks foxes I thought they were silly he does come out with some crackers. He has been home nearly three weeks and we start to get tetchy especially in school hols. Don't know how we will cope in retirement.

I think I was annoyed because I have wanted those boxes for a while but awkward to carry them. I felt he was saying why are you buying those. Whereas I know they will be useful in tidying up an area. We like storage. He just thinks I should throw it all out. He might be right but if I go through and sort it I should be left with what I want. The rest I will take to ladies night and they can fight over the knitting patterns. I have made some of the things. He has sat around on the computer a lot in the time off and I think he does that when he is off. He does odd bit of his washing and sticks vacuum around but that is it. If he helped more I could get on top of the other stuff and we would have tidier house. I waste time cleaning up after him too. I resent it. Wiping worktops, putting food away and he leaves dirty plates in sink and dirty mugs next to kettle. We have a bloody dishwasher! Right better get up and get cracking. I want to clean half the bedroom as it has been breeding RC again. Then vacuum. I can't vacuum or put washer on till he gets up which could be 9 or 10. I get more done when he is away.
