Morning all

Brew
TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 30/03/2018 11:20

Morning all Brew.

Lovely to hear about Henny Penny and what everyone else is getting up to.

Trying to clean and tidy in preparation for my parents visiting tomorrow Confused. Last time they visited it was massively stressful from the beginning as we were still hoovering etc when the doorbell went. So desperately trying to avoid that. DH is off today. Both children supposedly helping with the tidying but in reality mainly hindering it. I always despair when I read posts about 6 month old babies helping with chores on here and 2 year olds cleaning the whole house and how easy it is to keep a house tidy with kids GrinHmm. I must work A LOT more with my two to get them better in the house . We have just had a drink and snack and I have relented and given them their tablets so hoping blitz a bit now. DH is going to go out and get a few bits and take the recycling. We have swimming later (lessons still on) so must keep an eye on the time. Have heard there may be parking issues at the National Trust place we are planning to go to tomorrow so need to ring and warn my parents but can’t face that joy.

Mantra is going to be ‘I am an adult’ for this weekend. So why do I feel the familiar feelings of dread and teenager ish ness starting? Sad

Big wing flaps to all. Must get on.

Afreshcuppateaplease · 30/03/2018 11:35

You are the adult.
You are the parent.
You make the rules.

HillsBesideTheSea · 30/03/2018 11:59

It's Good Friday. It is one of the days where NOTHING that could be construed as work gets done. I have just realised that I have gotten old as I was tutting to myself about the neighbour who was cutting the lawn. Blush

My car is mostly tidy. A few bits to take out and recycle after 2 days of long road trips this week. Should take all of 2 mins. Will try to do that tomo.

SC even if the process itself is not stressful due to how it is done, it will be emotionally stressful. Invasive questions, observations. ds hated the fact that he felt they were judging him. And then the actual diagnosis is stressful. Accepting what is said, analysis of the impact, coming to terms with the new reality. I knew ds was aspie before the assessment, I wasn't prepare for I felt when I saw all his issues put down on paper. Hit me like a ton of bricks despite being immensely glad that they finally put it on paper officially. It is the hidden stress that sometimes shocks people. I can see that perhaps it might be good for DD. How does she feel about it?

Bower thank you for your kind words.

Stressy ds was great at helping at 6months and 2 years. WHen he was 4 a bit less so, and as he got older? forget it. Ignore the fact that small children are wanting to be with their parents and "help"; look more for the stories of 7 and up. It is more realistic view of the world Wink

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/03/2018 14:14

I had to go Morrison's.
It.was.hell
45 mins in a queue that stretch to middle aisle of shop despite all tills open
People yelling no baskets or trolleys left
I think I may have lost last shreds of sanity in there

Afreshcuppateaplease · 30/03/2018 14:32

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 30/03/2018 15:15

foxessocks · 30/03/2018 16:27

Well we had a nice morning out although as always with small children there was a bit of chaos along the way! It was good to get out though.

Ta da
Picked up some groceries
Organised the freezer
Bought new tupperware
Got the kids egg cups so they can have dippy eggs for lunches (we only had one!)
Got my mum and dad an Easter egg each as they are having us over next week
decluttered bag and purse
got the car washed while in town (cost us a fiver but it never would have got done otherwise!)
Got rid of stuff that doesn't belong in living room
daily routine

to do
cook dinner - Mexican chicken and rice and the a smaller less spicy version for the dc.
Work later possibly

As it is a bank holiday I'm giving myself permission to ignore the 15 minutes living room today and no bathroom cleaning either - CBA.

DS is utterly exhausted and pretty grumpy so I predict dinner time will be emotional for everyone.

Steamcloud · 30/03/2018 16:29

Still to do:

prep "fasting" Good Fri supper (frozen fish, rice, frozen peas)
calendering
more washing
tidy boudoir and home office so they are decent while we are away and before they descend in to total chaos again
sort bed linen
type out godchildren's Easter treasure hunt clues in oldie worldie font and stain with tea to look out ancient Grin
print recipes and sort utensils
packing

foxessocks · 30/03/2018 16:29

Also dh has promised he'll hoover and tidy upstairs before bed time...dd's room has been turned into a den which I approve of as it has kept her very busy this afternoon but she can't actually get to her bed...

foxessocks · 30/03/2018 16:29

sorry x post sc - good list!

Steamcloud · 30/03/2018 16:37

Great list Foxes well done - not easy with littlies in tow!

Hills thank you again for the advice - much appreciated - I do see what you mean now. Sorry it was so stressful for you too Flowers DD is quite keen to be investigated but may change her mind when it comes to the reality I suppose. I will investigate it properly, talk to her school, and seek some good advice. We still have annual check-in with educational psych who dd saw when she was 9 yrs, so I will pursue it with her first (who knows dd ifyswim). Thanks again!

Good to hear you are having a lazy day for once Afresh although I suspect the definition of "lazy" varies hugely if you have four dc rather than only one!

Nothing like impending visit to spur one in to action on the DIY/niggling jobs front Toostressy! Keep strong and hope the visit is not too stressful.

Poor you Zoo that shopping trip sounds like my idea of hell too Flowers (I get panicky in "les grandes surfaces". )

Hope your day is going well Bowerbird

Right off to collect car from garage - had major oil leak - what with that and vet's bill, it has been a very expensive week.

Steamcloud · 30/03/2018 16:37

x post Foxes!! Grin

Steamcloud · 30/03/2018 16:40

Oh yes, the other thing I did today was sort out My Fitness Pal account password and check that I had had no security breeches following the hacking problem (fortunately I only used the same password for two other sites which have now been changed).

I just thought I'd mention it here because I know there are quite a lot of us from the "previous generation" of Fledglings on MFP.

HillsBesideTheSea · 30/03/2018 16:57

I can't get into that account. So no idea about problems. Not even sure which email it is linked to either. I should probably investigate at some point. Thanks for the heads up SC

ALso sounds like a good plan wrt following up to test.

Afreshcuppateaplease · 30/03/2018 17:14

foxes can i come for tea that is like my ideal meal

foxessocks · 30/03/2018 17:29

More than welcome afresh! I've made too much as usual!

CotswoldStrife · 30/03/2018 17:32

I have been out most of the day at a shopping centre, it was good but rather cold as it's one of those that is partly outdoors and it was raining steadily!

Had a good time though and it was nice to visit a new to us town.

Will be back later, need to cook tea and drink coffee as I'm shattered!

Big wing flaps from me and Henny Penny🐓

Well I was up at 8:50 am to feed her. Bit chilly so warm mash which she loves. Started on the sitting room and I have cleaned all of it except under the sofa. Taken out everything that shouldn't be there and cleaned.
Ta Das
Washed window and sill.
Dusted everything. Including pictures.
Waxed the TV unit and a pine box. Love the smell of beeswax .
Took cushions off sofa and stuck vacuum nozzle down sides.moved some furniture and vacuumed floor.
Wiped most of the skirting boards.
Need to put Easter tree up tomorrow. Have the crosses to put up but they are in the car somewhere as I took them to school.
Tomorrow the dining room. The table has disappeared under a pile of paperwork, felt, Easter paper eggs and sheep!
Hoping to set DH off in the kitchen then we could have two rooms cleaned!

It is quite chilly here tonight.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 30/03/2018 20:06

Wing flaps back to Henny Penny Easter Smile. Very true SC, Flylady is so right, why do we feel we need to have our houses nice for company but not for ourselves?

Very impressed with your lists SC and foxes.

Ta da:-
Swimming lessons - both did some awesome swimming and not many in the lessons as it’s the holidays
Tea eaten
Wine in glass
Washing machine loaded up
Tesco delivery has just arrived
DD1 asleep and I think DD2 might be - DH is doing her bedtime

To do:-
Empty and fill dishwasher
Put up one last Easter decoration
Find the Easter card for my parents for DDs to fill in tomorrow
Bed

Easter SmileEaster Smile

Bowerbird5 · 30/03/2018 21:16

Yeah,I agree. I am enjoying the tidiness tonight. It does show that the decluttering is the key as it was much easier to clean today. I did move out two school bags but not a lot more clutter. I have some mail to sort and post which I shoved in the drawer. When the kids were small I used to have a basket and at night I used to just chuck everything in so I could relax when they were in bed.
Going to write a plan for tomorrow. Nothing done on Sunday except cooking. Need to find out if anyone is coming for lunch.
Had salmon tonight.

CotswoldStrife · 30/03/2018 21:45

I'll post the links later - I am going away for a couple of days tomorrow and unfortunately, the hotel that we are staying in no longer provides free wifi in the rooms and I'm too cheap to pay extra for it so may not check in after tomorrow morning. I'll be back on Monday but if I go missing on Sunday, that's why!

Back shortly.
