Aw your dd sounds lovely Foxes and hope the verdict that your ds is ok.

Fab lists Zoo!

I am in and out today (tedious trips as traffic hideous because of taxi strike) so testing the appliances as and when Cotswold; so far kettle ok and DW on - waiting to see what happens. Will be trying wms later ... fingers crossed. Quite frightening how much one relies on electricity for everything.

Had coffee earlier with friend who is leaving for Easter hols tomorrow. Must do some "proper" office work now.

Steamcloud · 27/03/2018 13:20

Meant to say hope your ds is ok too Zoo

And very best of luck at interview tomorrow Cordelia!!

CotswoldStrife · 27/03/2018 15:42

SC my parents had trouble with the electrics and it turned out the be the microwave! An electrician advised them to do the turn-everything-off and then just plug one item back in, take that out and then the next, blah, blah - tedious but it did work for them. We replaced the microwave and no further problems. Strange!

Day has improved but chasing my own tail atm. BBL

foxessocks · 27/03/2018 20:10

Well ds refusing to sleep so have given up and put in the night garden on for him. Doctor said no antibiotics needed atm just got to bring him back if he gets worse and the glands come up more.

I've given him piriton and calpol and loads of lotion but still no sleep Sad

Cagliostro · 27/03/2018 20:59

Poor thing :(

Good luck with interview

Done fuck all today. Downloaded an app that monitors screen time a couple of days back and OMG.

Sorted laundry. Read some more of BLW book which made me panic about how disorganised my cooking is... I did prep fish for tomorrow though (ginger chilli and lime cod) so it should be yummier tomorrow having had time to marinate.

Going to watch a new BBC drama now. I’ve had a rare day at home and totally squandered it, as usual. Thankfully many clubs are cancelled over the next few weeks due to Easter.

CotswoldStrife · 27/03/2018 22:16

Cag I would never have anything that records my screen time

SC I hope the tests go well. DD is still waiting for her mock SATs results. Not to mention dance and music exam results going back some weeks. She's not too bothered, they seem to be going through the papers at school so they can see where they went wrong. 2 more days of school before half-term, yay!

foxes get both of you comfy and do what it takes to get through the night - CBeebies is fine and highly recommended IMO. My parents were always impressed with the educational values of the programmes especially compared to the stuff I used to watch (Andy Pandy etc).

Hills good work at turning the day around from a bad start.

zoo I am trying to turn DD's room back into a room again, it's hard work. Didn't help that we'd dumped some stuff in there ourselves but there are a couple more bags of clothes to leave the building.

Waves to all other fledglings that I've missed, I've spent so long typing this distracted that I'm sure more have been on. Will do links soon.

Had chicken thighs and chips for tea tonight, I made a bit of instant curry sauce (the powdered stuff) and it was acceptable - no one else likes sauces but it was nice to have a bit of a change for myself.

Got my clothes ready for tomorrow already Star this is pure organisation on my part obviously and not because so few things fit properly at the moment

Hello all, have been AWOL today trying to sort out DD1’s bedroom so I sympathise Cotswold. It looks sooo much better but I now have quite a few bags and boxes of stuff outside the room and in the boudoir which need putting somewhere. Mainly clothes. Also don’t seem to have got rid of much Hmm. Although did get rid of a bit I guess and have a big bag of outgrown clothes to pass down to DD2 to add to her clothing mountain. Will have to tackle the bags over the next few days. Tried to encourage her by showing her how much neater it is now. There is still a bit to declutter in the actual room itself too.

Thanks for links as always Cotswold.

I’ve read the thread and it sounds as if there are a few fledglings and DC struggling or waiting for results etc so BearFlowersCakeBrewWine for everyone who needs it Flowers.

Cagliostro · 27/03/2018 22:56

I need to follow all your leads with decluttering.

Started taking ferroglobin today. Supposed to be easier on the stomach than normal iron tablets. Will pick up vitamin D script tomorrow. Must sort myself out.

Interesting thing happened today... well for the Caglets anyway. We discovered that our laptop (which we’ve had several months) has Minecraft on it. Not the full version. Now this is something we have said for ages, we can get it in the future when the house is sorted. Hahahaha [hollow] as I was concerned they’d get hooked on it. But TBH we have strict limits on their screen time anyway (unlike ours, clearly #hypocrite) so I have thought for a while it’s a bit silly, but also didn’t want to go back on the deal IYSWIM and they’ve never been that bothered about not having it. Anyway they have been helping for a while now, I know I complain how awful the house is but it really is a huge improvement from a year ago... but we do need to step it up as we were 11th on the properties we bid on last week. So DH and I are going to talk about what exactly needs to be done by them, for us to unlock the full version for them at £22.49.

They’re motivated for this as the free version only has survival mode! Whatever the fuck that means 😂 they did say keeping their room tidy but actually they do fairly well at that these days... but I did point out that’s because there is barely anything in their room now, most of their stuff is in our room and the living room! So I’ve told them that’s still their responsibility. They do mess things up for example when they come and get toys out that are stored in the trofast in our room.

I think part of it is going to be boxing certain toys up in the storage tubs I’ve been buying, and just making them accept that they can’t play with them AT ALL until we’ve moved. There isn’t the space for them to access all of it (they have a lot of toys, but all of it gets played with). I feel bad but I don’t see what other option there is really. We have to find somewhere to put them. I’m thinking the bottom of our (huge, room length built in) wardrobe? So anything in there is out of bounds.

I’m also itching to amalgamate any remaining BRCs. They’re building up again. Also, we need to sort out the area around the table. We don’t even eat at it, it’s ridiculous :( but the impending weaning of Cagletini is making me motivated to actually make the effort. But there’s so many boxes surrounding and under it that there’s no space.

Sorry for the waffle. Going to ditch the iPad now. Writing the above rant makes me feel such a failure of a person TBH. It’s ridiculous living like this! [plays world’s tiniest violin]

HillsBesideTheSea · 27/03/2018 23:26

Actually that sounds like normal life with kids to me cag it is pretty much the same here. Ds still has a tub of bath toys in the bath room. He refuses to get rid of them, but yet has not used them in years. Otoh there is lego fucking everywhere. pull some out of the washing machine the other day and a person rescued some from the kitchen sink. You are not a failure!

Cotswold - my day got turned around because I went into work and avoided the people. Barely seen them tonight but forgot to buy a new alarm clock so hopefully ds has actually set his tonight Hmm

CotswoldStrife · 28/03/2018 00:05

I'm still up! But going shortly ...

Cag please don't worry. I am constantly decluttering as we have far too much stuff. Getting DD to dispose of some toys and games is going to have to happen soon. We just can't fit it all in!

Someone on here may have mentioned Clutterbug before, but I did the test the other day and I'm a cricket. Oh boy, are they right about the piles! I can see at least three from where I'm sitting right now!

cag Minecraft comes as two types.survival is literally that.stay alive whilst in the Minecraft enviroment as various things are out to get you (creepers etc) the other version is like virtual Lego for building and creating worlds.there are many add ons you can get.ds recently had a steam punk one added as he's very into that and he happily builds away.he had to be restricted or would spend his life on there except at mo as makes head hurt.no Xbox in 2weeks

DS woke in night but manage go back to sleep without me having to get up and go downstairs with him....

Tadas
Cats fed.
wash on
Bleach lav
Swept kitchen floor
Swept living room floor
Bins empty
Littertray

DS at doctors 10.30.ment be clean church ready for Easter 130 so busy day ahead!!

hope tests go ok SC

Foxes fingers X you got some sleep and D's bit better today

Did someone have job interview(old and forgetful)if I didn't imagine that good luck🌹

Afresh hope your lurgy house is doing ok

Cotswold/cag piles and BRC aplenty here.it seems as fast clear a bit more magically appear!!

foxessocks · 28/03/2018 06:14

Morning zoo and anyone else up!

Ds ended up coming up to bed when we did at about 9pm and slept in our bed - he actually did sleep through until 6am so much better. We are a bit achey now though as he wriggles so much! He spent half the night curled up at the bottom of the bed like a cat.

We are up but not up. Ds still very tired and grumpy so watching duggee in bed.Brew got to take dd to nursery so he won'tbe able to sleep all morning like yesterday.

Afreshcuppateaplease · 28/03/2018 07:34

Morning all

Sorry your poor ds struggling so much foxes

Hope you get some answers from the doctor zoo

Dc2&3 coughing and spluttering

Mine have minecraft but tbh dont play much anymore. They have been sucked in to the hell that is fortnite.

Decluttering here has been next to none exisent atm. Need some more storage to enable me to move some stuff from dds room but its ££. Its thing i do want to keep for ds3 just no where to put it. His room also half resembles oxfam atm

Ta da

Wash on
Dryer on
Dc 2 3 and 4 up and fed
One area of worktop tidy and clean

Steamcloud · 28/03/2018 07:45

Cag rushing to appt but you MUST read this please before letting your DC anywhere near Minecraft!!!!!!!

here

Minecraft has multiplayer features that allow your DC to "play" with complete strangers all over the world. Unfortunately, these have become a notorious way through which on-line predators contact innocent DC playing the game.

Sorry if I sound hysterical but we found this out the hard way when did was 12 yes, despite having parental controls on hardware and software AND us and DD being steeped in and following CEOPS guidelines.

Thankfully, we found out quickly enough before any harm was done (and DD knew enough not to give away any personal info) but you don't want your child being contacted by supposed 15 yr old boys (who turned out to be a very much grown up Slovenian man; yes dh"s tech bod at office tracked him down and reported to police) then do not allow your DC to access this part of the game. If they must play with others, only allow it with people they know in rl (but I wouldn't really even recommend that because you can't guard that friend's systems are completely safe).

Be very careful PLEASE.
