Right you horrible lot stop nattering so much nah it wouldn't be fun if you did

So you have wandered into this corner of MN were the fledglings - a long running but very friendly group welcomes newbies and follows the flylady way to try to get decluttered and on top of the boring stuff in order to have more time for the fun other boring but essential stuff

No idea whose turn it was to run the thread this month but here it the thread and we can figure it out from there.

Here is your friendly weather notice.

  1. why are there no warnings for the wind? It is as bad as when we have had warmings - ergo duck if you go outside and avoid roads with trees and shop signs.
  2. Snow is mostly horizontal making visability impossible for those requiring glasses - mind the ... .. door
  3. You might require ice skates its a bit slippy out there. Hockey would be better than figure. Padding is an optional extra but advisable
  4. Establish if you know a crafter who likes to make blankets and try to borrow a few. Seriously the lights are flickering and there is warnings they might go out
  5. Warning the teen that should the electrics go out it would mean no tv, not internet, no heating etc. Look at each other, consider interaction with each other. both turn and flee at the thought and go into hiding.
  6. DOn't go out. Seriously. Hibernate. Until June. When spring might arrive. perhaps. maybe. But it is the UK so don't hold your breath!

Our internet has been dipping all day, i assume weather related. Causing much moaning from dc1&2.

cag sorry to hear you had a scare with little one and glad she is okay Bear

zoo can you not manage soggy bread? Dip in soup maybe?

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 01/03/2018 20:15

Hello all,

Thanks so much for the February thread Cotswold and extra CakeFlowersBrewWine for doing the March one too Halo. Must be such a difficult time with secondary school allocations; I am glad your DD seems to be ok with the second choice at the moment and has a plan.

Super snowy here. School was shut but the kids went to my amazing childminder and had a snow day with her as DH and I were able to get into work. School is shut again tomorrow but I am off so that is ok. Won’t be able to safely drive to swimming lessons though so they will miss them I think which is a shame as they need to miss next Friday too.

Hills, good summary of weather situation Grin. Sorry to hear about hospital visit but glad all ok Cag. How rubbish to still all be ill Cotswold.

Grin at use of pointy stick for firewood SC.

Such a ridiculous school coat rule zoo. I very rarely complain about things (I moan constantly to friends and family Grin but I mean officially or to staff) but i’m afraid that school coat / blazer issues in sub zero or tropical weather REALLY piss me off. Not at that stage with DDs yet but not something I am looking forward to with batshit secondary uniform rules. DH not as militant as me though so I do often tone it down.

Must get on, both DDs in PJs watching Harry Potter (no early start tomorrow) but I need to do their teeth.

Flying...... hmm well I cleaned the fridge Shock. As part of my attempt to declutter I am doing Clutterbug’s 30 day decluttering challenge. She is a clutter vlogger on YouTube who I idolise love and she does motivational videos Blush. So I am trying that. Also dealt with a few bits in a BRC in the boudoir. Not much else though.

Snowy wing flaps and hot chocolates for all.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 01/03/2018 20:21

Sorry the all being ill comment was to foxes, not Cotswold.

Steamcloud · 01/03/2018 23:09

Grin Hills

[Stokes fire in naughty corner, stirs cauldron of mulled wine, provides extra fluffy fleeces and water bottles for Zoo and Cag]

Must look at Clutterbug Toostressy

Very well done re: Feb resolutions Foolandfitz

Wing flaps to everyone else

I have achieved very little today. Emptied dw. 2 loads laundry (but boy it is cold in the basement) and always veggie night on Thursdays so made Nigella's chickpea and root vegetable casserole (sat down with radio for mega chopping session) which we ate with cous cous and harissa. Wrapped present for colleague. Shredded one large bag papers and made a lot of mess! Very hampered by lingering labyrinthism (sp?) as can't carry stuff up and downstairs (a continuous necessity in this tall thin house) as need one hand for bannisters!

DD full of enthusiasm when she got home from school after tour of (French-speaking) national television centre. They had a full tour, had a go in front of "blue" screens, saw news stories being written then read out in a live broadcast, and met two national news readers! So a welcome change from the usually very dry curriculum.

Still no snow here but it is threatened tomorrow apparently.
Keep safe and warm everybody!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 01/03/2018 23:13

I think her videos are probably a love / hate thing but I love her! Great for your DD to have a fun time with school for a change SC Smile

CotswoldStrife · 02/03/2018 00:05

You may have been ahead of the game with the ill comment as I have a sore throat and DD went to bed early last night, Stressy

Tonight's tea was naan bread for starters, storybook chicken strips with bacon bookmarks and strawberry cheesecake. I like to theme just the names of food to the event and today was World Book Day. The chicken strips were completely plain with a small piece of bacon on and the cheesecakes were individual ones from Tesco. Not as good as it sounds really Grin

Welcome hereholdmydrink, love the username!

DD still thinking about school options. Had some helpful advice on other threads about school allocations. School we have been allocated is OK, can barely remember it tbh obviously outstanding and due to it's posher location, the overseas school trips are way more expensive than the first choice school.

DD's school today gave us two hours notice to pick them up because they were closing early. I'm a SAHM and even I thought that wasn't enough time! They are also closed tomorrow though, so yay for a snow day! I have bacon, what can go wrong ...

Enough rambling (you'll notice no mention of flying yet again ...) I'll do the links next and see you tomorrow. Waves to drink (yes, I do have Wine now), Lisette, SC, Cordelia (wish I'd remembered to buy the turmeric now), Zoo, fresh, Hills, foxes, whoknows, Goth, Whispers, Cag (hope you and Cagletini are OK, that sounds so scary), Fool, Stressy and anyone I missed!

MonaTheMoaner · 02/03/2018 00:07

Ooh can I join please? House isn't a tip but I could definitely use support and inspiration keeping on top of things.

CotswoldStrife · 02/03/2018 00:39

Welcome Mona, good to have you with us.

Morning all!

A warm welcome to Mona!

Hope you are feeling no worse Cotswold and that you and Cagletini are ok this morning Cag

Early exit out of the house today. Rabbit dental surgery. Worried.

Still feeling a bit rough throat/ear/chest wise.

Then more laundry, prep supper (fish cakes), 3-4 hrs editing, shredding, try and sort boudoir before it descends in to total chaos again, then back to vets.

Have a good one everybody!

Got two bickering kids this morning and a serious case of cba. On the other hand we do all seem to be getting better.

No porch decluttering - too cold still!

zoo spicy apple muffins sound great.

Steamcloud · 02/03/2018 09:54

(Dives in to thread to snaffle a muffin.). They look delicious Zoo! Apple version sounds good too!

And, er, whatever helps to get the laundry done Grin Grin Grin

This morning is not going well. DH kindly drove me to vets (because although vertigo considerably better today I'm a bit wary of driving yet). It took forever in traffic and dh is very busy at work so all a bit stressful plus anaesthesia tricky in buns so worried. Got text from educateur on way home to say 'can we pick up DD from school who has migraine'? Poor DD is now sitting on sofa with the furry, looking grim, with bucket and Dettol to hand. Oh dear.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 02/03/2018 10:10

Welcome to hereholdmydrink and to Mona Smile.

Oh dear SC, good luck with everything today. Sorry to hear I was right about the illness Cotswold. zoo Flowers. Big wing flaps to Afresh and everyone else. YY to bickering meaning feeling better foxes.

Well I think Some snow might be melting but we have more forecast and local police warnings not to drive unless essential. DH has gone in but he has a car equipped for winter and his job would be viewed as essential travel.

Both kids lounging at the moment but it won’t last. I seized the moment to declutter and clean freezer (Clutterbug day 6) which has put me a bit behind but worth it.

Putting away laundry now but need go psych myself up to get us ready and out of the house. We need to go and get some food so will need to walk / sledge to Aldi. Very surreal!

DD1 wants to make slime later ShockConfused.

Cagliostro · 02/03/2018 10:37

Zoo do you have Corsodyl mouthwash? Using that (a little diluted if it stings) seems to stave off anything nasty. I also gargle it when getting a sore throat and since doing that I haven’t had tonsillitis once, whereas I used to get it several times a year. May be worth looking into it for DD2 too. It’s pricey but apparently wilko do an own brand one that I’m going to try next. I share your fear of dentists, I haven’t dared sort out my issues yet.

Welcome mona and drink :)

Well I am slightly warmer, going to bed early was definitely the right thing to do. And the Caglets slept more too which was clearly needed. DD is often still dark under the eyes so I must push their bedtime earlier somehow (not easy with all the clubs they do, but actually our new fridge seems to be bigger so maybe that means batch cooking can happen for quick dinners).

However the day is not going great as I am having a gallbladder attack :( really thought I was out of the woods (I had two, when Cagletini was 23 and 28 days old and nothing since) so I’m really gutted. That said the buscopan I was prescribed seems to be helping, I’m not in agony. But three attacks means surgery apparently.

Thankfully ballet is cancelled due to snow

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 02/03/2018 10:44

Oh how annoying Cag re gallbladder.

Ta da:-
Clean laundry put away
BRC (box/bag of random crap for newbies) in boudoir dealt with

To do:-
All go out in snow. Brrr.
Snow definitely melting but checked the weather and there is more to come.
