Hello all, what a busy day on here! I’ve been at work then we have eaten tea and the girls have had showers so no other ta das to post. On the plus side though DH bought wine
.
I could not agree more SC with the issues around work and childcare. As you say, we push women into work with no infrastructure to support this
. It makes me so angry
. As you say Afresh, it is so difficult when your managers are unsupportive. The difficulties of balancing work and childcare and family life are the reasons I only do 2 regular days a week at work. In fact, it is funny we are all talking about it now (or maybe not as it is such a common issue) as I have been doing a lot of thinking over the last couple of days about this. I spend so much time thinking I should be working more or feeling guilty about the lack of progress in my career and it is such a waste of energy. I really don’t know what the answer is though. Absolutely some jobs could be made more flexible but some jobs are always going to be more of a 24 hour nature or inflexible than others.
Then as you say Hills and Fooland, there are the logistical issues of not going to work if you need to stay at home with unwell children. Whatever you do you can’t win!
Ok, that’s the end of my rant!
