Got all my list done. Shopping was fairly painless. Took dd to her sport club thing and ds was a nightmare red faced and screaming and he hasn't improved since he got home! Dd is being beautifully behaved so I guess it would be greedy to want both of them to behave!!

I have flopped on the sofa while dh does dinner. I can't take anymore!

HillsBesideTheSea · 24/01/2018 17:30

Work was exhausting
Ds checked out ok
I am eating jaffa cakes for tea. Hmm

Afreshcuppateaplease · 24/01/2018 18:04

Cagliostro · 24/01/2018 18:36

Hello all, what a busy day on here! I’ve been at work then we have eaten tea and the girls have had showers so no other ta das to post. On the plus side though DH bought wine Grin.

I could not agree more SC with the issues around work and childcare. As you say, we push women into work with no infrastructure to support this Angry. It makes me so angry AngryAngry. As you say Afresh, it is so difficult when your managers are unsupportive. The difficulties of balancing work and childcare and family life are the reasons I only do 2 regular days a week at work. In fact, it is funny we are all talking about it now (or maybe not as it is such a common issue) as I have been doing a lot of thinking over the last couple of days about this. I spend so much time thinking I should be working more or feeling guilty about the lack of progress in my career and it is such a waste of energy. I really don’t know what the answer is though. Absolutely some jobs could be made more flexible but some jobs are always going to be more of a 24 hour nature or inflexible than others.

Then as you say Hills and Fooland, there are the logistical issues of not going to work if you need to stay at home with unwell children. Whatever you do you can’t win!

Ok, that’s the end of my rant!

Passes paracetamol and soothing Brew to Afresh, Cag, and Bower and anyone else feeling poorly or out of sorts.

Waves to Squirrel, Callme, zoo, foxes, Whispers and everyone else.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 24/01/2018 19:08

Ooh Xpost zoo. What a fabulous naughty corner we have tonight Smile. I can add Wine.

foxessocks · 24/01/2018 19:30

afresh feel free to rant to us if you think it might help Flowers

Cheers zoo am gasping for a Brew and some chocolate. We've got some biscuits here but they are rubbish ones. I'll be eating them anyway though!!

One dc asleep. Dd is demanding that dh files her toe nails before bed...honestly where does she get it from!?!

foxessocks · 24/01/2018 19:33

Oh and toostressy and everyone else I wholeheartedly agree with you all but can't even get into it or my stress levels will rise!! (I gave up my career despite my best efforts for flexible working- my boss totally disregarded my carefully written plan on how two of us could job share....anyway was a long time ago so I'm over it haha)

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 24/01/2018 19:43

foxes Flowers. I have given up a huge amount of my career due to the lack of flexible working too. I suspect we all understand on here Brew.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 24/01/2018 19:43

Not implying that giving up part of my career is the same as giving it all up, sorry!

Afreshcuppateaplease · 24/01/2018 19:48

Cheese. Naughty corner needs cheese. Not smelly stuff though

HillsBesideTheSea · 24/01/2018 20:12

Afresh totally agree.
Did I say something about working and kids? Confused

WHat should happen tomo: rest
What ideally would happen tomo: all the chores
What is actually going to happen: working from home on my day off to make life easier when in work.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 24/01/2018 20:15

TBH I got a bit confused with who said what as I was trying to catch up with the day!!

HillsBesideTheSea · 24/01/2018 20:20

That's OK stressy. it is just I was under the impression that all I have done was whine BlushHmm

OP posts:
TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 24/01/2018 20:23

You can’t beat a therapeutic whine / moan Smile.

Afreshcuppateaplease · 24/01/2018 20:25

I just get really fed up of the fact i spend all my time looking after everyone else and rarely does anyone look after me! If Dp is hungover he lies in and ill take him drinks etc if he asks. I say something is wrong with me and he makes a snide comment about me being a mard arse or says theres always something wrong with me. He knew i felt awful last night and not bothered ask how i am today. He also knew i was up with the little one at daft o clock. He gets atleast two lie ins a week. I havent had one in years. I dont mind getting up with the kids but just now and then a break would be nice or even just the offer of a break!

Subtleconstraints · 24/01/2018 20:51

Sounds utterly crap Afresh. I'd bugger off for a long weekend and leave him to it.

(Sets down large platter of strong, Lancashire, Caerphilly, Cheddar, along with selection of crackers and grapes.)

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 24/01/2018 20:57

Afresh Flowers. I take it you have spelt out that you need a lie in / time to yourself and he has not obliged?

This has got to be one of the best stocked naughty corners since I’ve been on the thread Smile.

What I should be doing:-
Putting away clean laundry
Filling out forms for some freelance work
Prepping stuff for tomorrow
Generally being an organised productive person
Having a look at next Brownie badge and making sure DD2 is on Brownie waiting list.

What I am actually doing:-
Looking at Mumsnet, holidays, watching telly on phone
One load of laundry put on.

I am going to set timer for 15 mins now and sort out the laundry that must be sorted and prep a few bits for tomorrow. After that I am heading into the naughty corner.

Going to be honest it was the final straw that made me leave ds' dad. Not the biggest but the final. So you have my full sympathy on the matter Afresh it is shit, sorry you are having to deal with it.

OP posts:
WhispersOfWickedness · 24/01/2018 21:28

So, from my epic to do list, all that is left is the floors! Hoovering and mopping. Gold star for me 🌟
Aaaand.... my friend is no longer coming (this week) 😂🙈 Ah well 😁 The bedrooms are still terrible, so plenty to do tomorrow when she should have been here 🙄
