Chatty month. It continues here from the original thread: here

afresh lack of sleep sucks and blows at the same time. Glad you got a tiny hour of sleep at least.

bower you sound very poorly. I think you should take a few more sick days - don't drag yourself as you are doing the minimum with difficulty, imagine how much harder it will be at work. You are a teacher, right? What year group do you teach?

zoo your image of lilzoo flying made me smile. Sorry that DS is poorly. I'm at home today because my DS is unwell too - cough and temp. Why do I feel guilty about not going to work? The leadership team are passive aggressive about staff taking time off work. I've given DS calpol and he is bouncing off the walls. Sigh. I must admit I feel really tired today.

Waves to everyone.

Afreshcuppateaplease · 24/01/2018 09:21

Theres nothing worse than working for people who make life harder when you or your dc are sick. If someone is taking the piss then deal with that but most of the time people are genuine! My previous employer would go from being all chummy with me to giving me the cold shoulder for a week or so if i had a day off sick for me or my dc. No ability to see just because the buisness was centre of her world other people have more important issues. Its part of the reason i quit, could not cope with the attitude.

FoolandFitz · 24/01/2018 09:25

Ta-das for last night

supervised DS homework & printed his work
polished DS shoes and my boots and shoes
quick tidy up of porch (less than a minute)
made dinner
did a wash
washed up 2 times
brought my YNAB up to date
looked into bank accounts and saving accounts for better deals

To-do today
hoover downstairs
put 4 loads of washing away
change/switch current account, thereby nabbing £125
do school work (no more than 1 hour)
make sure I do at least 8000 steps, preferably 10,000

Subtleconstraints · 24/01/2018 09:26

Good morning! (Snaffles one of Hills's Jaffa cakes.) Very windy here too so tree surgeon has cancelled again (which suits me in a way as I can stay put and actually do the work dh keeps e-mailing me).

Bowerbird congrats on boudoir beautification! Good luck with kitchen designer! Wreck1 and wreck2 are approx 1 hr/1hr.15 mins apart depending on traffic. One extreme urban, the other extreme rural (well it's not the wilds of Scotland or Northumberland sadly, but as rural as it gets in this tiny country). Plan is to gradually move to latter but dd has four more years at school in town (if she doesn't have to "redouble" a year which is common here: in which case 5 yrs) and it will need lots and lots of work in that time. Sorry to hear you are still have a tight chest. Worth going back to doc?

Brew and sympathy to those who are struck down with various viruses/sleep deprived or whose DC are poorly, or both.

That means you Afresh Brew (As if your day wasn't hard enough.)

Zoo that sounds awful about violent incident at school; that poor teacher.

Happy birthday to your dd Callme! Sorry you are still feeling rotten.

Great lists Cag!

Good luck with your mega list today Whispers!

Ta v much for links Toostressy!

FoolandFitz · 24/01/2018 09:28

afresh I've found that school leadership teams are the worst for making staff feel like that, well, in primary schools anyway.

Afreshcuppateaplease · 24/01/2018 09:29

I have just wacked the back of my head on the wall getting ds out of the pram. Yesterday i bent down to feel the radiator and banged my forehead on the wall. Its like my head is a wall magnet Sad

Ta da

School run and associated shit

Subtleconstraints · 24/01/2018 09:40

X posts

Sorry your ds is ill and employer being difficult which must be incredibly stressful. Agree with Afresh - the sooner employers/government accept that small DC, especially six yrs and under, get ill and and firm up provision for that in to employment contracts (ATM law far too arbitrary) the better. It's a fact of life fhs! The prevailing policy at the moment seems to be to encourage women back to the workplace and then punish them with unaffordable childcare and impossible working conditions. Angry

Subtleconstraints · 24/01/2018 09:41

Afresh ouch!

Subtleconstraints · 24/01/2018 09:44

Sorry - post below ouch directed at Foolandfitz!

Must close Mumsnet tab and get something done. DD (and friends) will be bk from school demanding copious quantities of food in 2.5 hrs! (Half school day on Weds.)

Stilllivinginazoo · 24/01/2018 09:46

afresh I bang my head on sn almost daily basis...sadly hasn't knocked any more sense in to not do it again(sigh)

Being buffered by wind and rain which carrier bag with eggs amongst other things is flying up to my face was NOT even vaguely amusing...
DS was fearful be left just under an hour but it was just too far.i end up leave him at bottom of hill(3/4 way to school) by a co op and hot footed lil zoo in whilst he sat on a wall.had stop 6x on way back and he sank to his knees panting at co op near home.hes been told scared or not he isn't physically able to manage school run pick up n will have to stay home alone(he's 12)
So far he's not hungry at all,but I wheedled down a cup banana milk.hes now asleep on sofa
Wash in dryer

Afreshcuppateaplease · 24/01/2018 09:48

I am donning hard hat and going to the bedroom of doom!

FoolandFitz · 24/01/2018 11:12

Ooh, ouch fresh sounds nasty, not helped by feeling unwell and lack of sleep. Good luck with the bedroom of doom.

sc hope you get stuff done

zoo poor ds Sad and I've not ventured outside today and don't envy people who have to be outside.

FoolandFitz · 24/01/2018 11:15

Oh, forgot my ta-da

switched current accounts or rather applied for it.

I had a quick look at the frugaleers thread and they're on their 3rd thread, not sure I can post on there as it moves too fast (even though I could do with a bit of moral support for finances). Have enough trouble keeping up here.

Cagliostro · 24/01/2018 11:30

Morning all. So glad I took baby to bed earlier last night - she had the same 6.5hrs again, but earlier. Woke at about 5.30 and dozed/fed with me until 8.30.

Mindfulness is awesome bower it’s the only way I can get through anxiety attacks now. I felt awful but it would have been so much worse otherwise. I was able to just accept/understand that the anxiety was flaring up, rather than getting angry about it.

I feel out of sorts today still but mainly as I’m worrying about DH. He’s gone off to support DSCs through their GM’s funeral, but his own mother is going too, and he has been NC with her for about 16 years, through total necessity. I really don’t know how he will cope with her being there.

Bowerbird5 · 24/01/2018 12:11

Goodness it has been busy on here this morning.

I fell back asleep about 8:30 and DH rang from airport and woke me😤

Anyway after that I rang Drs and bloods are back normal and lovely male receptionist ask if I wanted to speak to GP, who isn't usually there today. Requested ring back later yeah! Not so wheezy now and have slowly tidied room. Still not perfect but one whole basket of clothes away. Boxes all filled bedding chest gained a few more pieces so full.
Just need to put vacuum over it. I have mopped.
Best jump in shower and quickly clean kitchen just seen time ...man due at 1 pm😱. Haven't touched kitchen bit messy oh I don't care!

FF no I am HLTA. Have intervention groups in KS1&KS2 and teach Yr 5 and anywhere else when they are stuck.
Actually last two HT have been great about illness. The one before that wasn't. Especially anything to do with periods😱 oh my God don't mention that word even though he didn't take the hint on not very well, women's troubles etc. he never asked why I was off after that! He was married.

Zoo I hope you took photos I want to see kite flying children and egg- gate...puts another meaning to
" left with egg on your face!"

Will have to put kids back early so I can get to hospital. Or maybe miss third group and go earlier. Think I will have to do that and I have paperwork to do so can do that today or afterwards. I don't want to be rushing and end up in A & E!
Just got kitchen worktops cleaned, GP phoned and man arrived. Phew!
Kitchen design very pleasant and jolly. Included AGA afresh😄
Oh no the snot!
Back to the snot. Candles in the wind!
