[And yes I really am leaving shortly. Waiting for dd to finish school (she has half day on Weds and two teaching days, tomorrow and Fri, and dh to come home from work in an hour or so. Was hoping to leave house in reasonable state but let's just say that's a bit of an uphill struggle. At least I have made some inroads in to the washing.]

Hope you and your dd are ok Cotswold

Tally-ho to all!

Callmecordelia · 31/01/2018 10:27

I rather like ITNG too Smile. I read an interesting interview with Anne Wood once, all about the science behind it, and how each character represents a different stage of child development. The repetition of the story, the elements that are the same in each programme, are all based on what small children like and find comforting, which is what is needed just before bed time. I find how the artistry and creativity in ITNG mixes with the science very interesting.

I can't stand Everything's Rosie, RaRa or Justin's House. Or that insufferable Bing (although I imagine Mark Rylance narrating it as Thomas Cromwell which amuses me) - I'd rather watch the classic Iggle Piggle Has A Tiddle any day. It's actually quite funny.

Cagliostro · 31/01/2018 10:40

My two were never into ITNG. They found it a bit baffling. Peppa pig was enjoyed for a while but they preferred - and in fact still watch now at 8 and 10 - the vastly superior Ben and Holly :o TBH though we have always mostly watched DVDs, it’s only more recently they’ve got into CBBC and the god awful Pop channel. Best preschool show ever though is clearly Pocoyo.

Anti procrastination day in full swing here, considering I haven’t even got out of bed yet.

You ok fool (you mention breakdown) and bower? 💐

Afreshcuppateaplease · 31/01/2018 10:40

The tiddle was one of DD's favourite episodes, I can still hear her laughing when I see it. She loved that show ITNG and when the grandparents were babysitting we used to send her with some DVD's! It never sent her to sleep, but it used to make our heads nod a bit though ...

I am fine, DD has not got out of bed for three days, hardly eaten and was still upset this morning that I wouldn't take her to school Hmm I tell myself that I am pleased she likes school so much (I certainly didn't at her age).

I will start the new thread later, once I can think up a snappy title. Don't hold your breath, ladies ....

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 31/01/2018 10:59

Hello all, I will indeed send you the secret to stress free parenting when I find it zoo. Maybe it is in one of my many parenting books... I will also sell it and make my millions.

Flowers for all those struggling.

I love Topsy and Tim! Also loved Mr Tumble I’m afraid. Hope I am still allowed on the thread after admitting that.

Currently the girls tend to watch princess / Disney type cartoons although DD2 recently into Get Well Soon. I like Hey Dugee too but they are not fussed.

Must get back to work. Will be on a bit later. Thanks again for a lovely thread everyone and big wing flaps to all.

HillsBesideTheSea · 31/01/2018 17:41

See ds ditched the lot was watching time team, how does that work and other documentaries by 3. If it was space related you were shhhhhed. I had to get in an argument at a local observatory who declared he was too little for the viewing with the science. She watched him like a hawk throughout and never argued again afterwards. Blush
So I was blissfully children's tv free until he was 7 and discovered sponge bob. Hmm

It is the kind of day where you walk in and put your pjs on. It has been snowing all fucking day. Nothing has stuck but bloody hell the wind is evil and bitter!

I am finishing the nutella jar. that is all you need to know about my day.

OP posts:
HillsBesideTheSea · 31/01/2018 18:00

Also ds ditching the lot so early was probably why the only programs I could name was so limited Grin

Yep weather here was pretty grim today. We've been very busy today so didn't get round to cleaning the bathroom but I did make my cakes and I managed a tiny bit of ironing (has barely made a dent in the pile but hey I tried)

Bed time was a bit emotional as dd spilt her milk all over the floor and cried a lot. But both kids seem to be asleep and I have a huge box of chocolates from dh that I'm working my way through I'll just leave them in the haughty corner for you all to dig in...

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 31/01/2018 20:39

Thanks for chocolates foxes Smile.

Big wing flaps to Hills, Afresh, zoo, SC, Cotswold, Cag, Callme, Fooland and everyone else.

Hope you are ok Bower.
