Chatty month. It continues here from the original thread: here

Cag you are doing brilliantly! Me; not so much.

Dh has announced that we are going away tomorrow for a couple of days, not Fri as planned (trip to third country to visit friend). It's thrown me rather.

So agree (for me anyway) about being up and dressed early. I feel ill if I lie in, and I find my morning has disappeared before I know it if I don't get cracking early (despite being an owl not a lark). And if I stayed in my PJs, I am so ill-disciplined I would be curled up on the sofa reading books or watching Netflix in a flash.

Also couldn't agree more about hidden storage! I am terrible for this! I have to have drawers etc organised in perfectionist style - can't keep it up of course - so then have everything piled up alongside, on top, in the vicinity. ...a complete dog's breakfast.

Also agree with the theory that clutter is the manifestation of a thousand delayed decisions! I am a terrible ditherer!

Subtleconstraints · 30/01/2018 14:23

Wow that is an amazing list Afresh well done!

Good news about the washing machine Toostressy!

I am away tomorrow for a bit so thank you so much Toostressy for running a truly splendid January thread! FlowersCakeGin

Best of luck to Cotswold for February!

foxessocks · 30/01/2018 14:38

afresh no witchcraft promise! I think I just got lucky...they haven't always been best sleepers at night and ds did have a month or so of 4am starts.but in general they aren't particularly early risers for small children. Anywhere between 7.15-7 45 usually. They are not big nappers though, dd gaveup her nap very early and has never napped since and ds can already go a whole day with only 30 min nap (if we are at home he'll sleep for an hour and a half in the afternoon usually but he doesn't sleep when out and about apart from in the car a little bit)

Anyway. Waffling now sorry! Sorry about your such early starts though Sad

Everyone v productive today! I need to get cracking

Ta das
Ordered new glasses (hooray!!!)
Took plastic to recycling bank
Took clothes to recycling bank
Bought bread and butter
Emptied and loaded dishwasher

To do
Finish daily routine
Declutter in living room
Detailed hoover
Swish and swipe downstairs loo

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/01/2018 15:51

I've ground to a halt(am lay on sofa ifhonest)tireder than tired😞
Watch tangled with lil zoo ,D's n DP.the boys now gone watch Godzilla dvd upstairs.lil zoo on tablet.i feeling run down, run over.....

Have got 3 loads washing sorted and made lunch!

Dinner beef mince and lentil ragu.spinach.pasta

Happy travels SC

A week toostressyShock(faints)glad you have washing friends fairies or that would've been ugly...

Afresh mine don't do lay ins.i was told good sleepers or good eaters.rare get both.mine eat almost anything(within reason each has couple things won't touch with bargepole, most noticeably lil zoo don't eat chips, waffles, roast potatoes,Yorkshire, stuffing barrel if laughs we have a roast )
Hope this means yours are good eaters and if foxes eat anything And sleep I will be beyond jealous

foxessocks · 30/01/2018 17:02

zoo I just won't say anything Grin they do eat most things although dd certainly has her moments. They are pretty typical kids in most ways though - irrational, ds has started tantrumming , arguing, pushing, constant chattering. ..etc etc etc. They also haven't always been good sleepers so maybe that counts...average sleepers average eaters!!!

Ta das
All my list plus anti procrastination - phoned my friend!
Sorted out a few plans for this week

To do
Make dinner - oven fish and chips tonight

Afreshcuppateaplease · 30/01/2018 17:12

Mine are all good eaters.

1&2 always been good sleepers but 3&4 trying to finish me off

HillsBesideTheSea · 30/01/2018 17:49

Well I totally lucked out with ds. Will never learn to sleep through the night and a horrific sleeper unless medicated. Half a mile of food associated allergies and intolerances complete with food/eating control issues Hmm

There was other stuff I wanted to say but meh. Tea at least was a hit even if I stuck too much raw red onion on it - not an excuse to add more cheese to mine honest gov

My day today = it's a nutella out the jar with a teaspoon early night because I am done kinda day Hmm

OP posts:
Stilllivinginazoo · 30/01/2018 17:59

hills with a few dessert exceptions most things are delicious with cheeseGrin

All mine were crappy sleepers-ev 2 hour feeds from day one til 9-12 months.oh.my.god.i was a zombie mum!!
Never did lay ins, often declared morning before was light.no naps from 12 months, cept D's.(who screamed around the clock when he was awake from birth to 8mnths,only slept in a car seat with my toe rocking it or out in buggy and nearly broke me...)

Tadas
Dinners on.(mince n lentils.pasta on in a bit
bean stew for dd2 in oven
(To be served with cheese topped rolls I bought from Aldi and for once she luff me😂)
Another load wash done(I swear it's breeding upstairs?!)

I've just heard on FB my neice having baby number 6(5th c sect) we aren't close
Is it bad I feel both excited for her but a bit jealous and broody?!Sad

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/01/2018 17:59

(and yes I know I've had my turn and am getting to old now)

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/01/2018 18:00
Smile
HillsBesideTheSea · 30/01/2018 18:03

I feel sad that I will never experience a 'normal' baby ds was early achiever and was walking by 6month never did the floppy reliant stage was born alert. It is normal zoo especially if you had experiences you enjoyed. Just think about when you get to swidge grand children. Cute babies not the same responsibilities. Wink

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 30/01/2018 18:36

I have had newborn cuddles today and it is so much more relaxing when you know you are going to give them back after a cuddle Grin.

.

YY to the perfectionist drawer issue SC!

Most things are better with cheese Smile.

Ta da:-
Horrible school pick up with both DDs scooting off and not listening. Went to park on way back (probably should not have after the scooting off but had to burn off their energy). After we got home they both had enforced showers and reading / homework time. They are now in bed but DD2 wide awake. Thankfully DH is here tonight.

Washing is in my friend’s washing machine
BRC in boudoir put away.

To do:-
Get children to sleep
Figure out how to be an unstressed parent Confused
Go to friend’s house to pick up laundry and put it in drier
Going to put on links early as will be out and about getting this washing tonight...

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 30/01/2018 18:36

Cagliostro · 30/01/2018 21:48

Evening all.

ta da concluded
✅made it to tap, OMG so cute how much DS is enjoying it! I have hoped he’d do dancing for years.
✅booked and paid for hall for World Book Day
✅workbook with Caglets
✅piano
✅Caglets put their clothes away (and DS apparently has separated the rest of ours into piles too, he’s in my good books today! 💕

Haven’t managed anything else since getting home, Cagletini wide awake and playful and hungry, she’s now starting to drop off so I’m going to have to take her to bed. Which means leaving a huge mess in the living room as I haven’t finished sorting the drawers. I just had a sort of “aaaargh what the Jeff do I do with all this stuff” moment and gave up. But I will have to plough through it tomorrow as at least DH can take the baby. I’ll send an apologetic text to DH (who will be home after I’m in bed) to warn him of the state of the place. I hate leaving it like this.

So far I have the two maths resource drawers (numicon and base ten set), a drawer of already-started workbooks and a drawer of completely-unused workbooks. Found a few things that can go to charity. I think I could get another drawer worth of maths resources if I also raid the door shelves. That’d make sense for tutoring, keep it all together. But the rest... aaargh. It’s all random stuff like free resources from charities etc.

I really really need to focus on actually using stuff up. It would work well with the approach we are using at the moment, just getting on with random bits and pieces as they get used to doing ‘proper work’ again. But I get too caught up with waiting for the perfect time to use something, but I just need to get the fuck on with it. The perfect time never comes does it.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 30/01/2018 22:03

Great ta das Cag. Absolutely, I am guilty of waiting for the perfect time too but as you say it doesn’t come.

CotswoldStrife · 30/01/2018 22:38

Sorry, just popping on to say that I am still fine to do February, DD is poorly with the flu and I feel my own throat prickling a bit in response! I am still here though, just AWOL as usual Blush

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 30/01/2018 23:00

Oh no Cotswold! Let me know if you want me to start the Feb thread for you, or do a few days or even keep this month’s one running until you both feel better.

Stilllivinginazoo · 31/01/2018 05:46
Callmecordelia · 31/01/2018 07:17

Morning!

Let's try posting a list that will only get half done, eh?

Clean kitchen floor
Clean bathrooms
Put washing away
Put away birthday presents
Make jam tarts

My Dad is coming over today, and I'm really looking forward to seeing him. I am quite close to my parents (and my sisters). Mum and I chat every day, but I very rarely get to speak to Dad on his own. All of a sudden they are both having lots of medical tests and my Mum has actually been diagnosed with something that might impede her ability to drive soon. It's quite sobering - all of a sudden I can see a few clouds on the horizon, getting closer. They're very fit and active, and are off to India next month, but Mum has only been retired for just over a year. I thought it would be years before we had to think about health stuff. I need to give my head a wobble, as it's not about me, and think about how to support them, but I am feeling a bit worried.

foxessocks · 31/01/2018 07:36

callme totally understand Flowers. Have a lovely time with your dad.

Morning to everyone! Dd was up 4 times in the night once for a wee and the rest for a bad dream (about spiders which then meant we had to check her entire room and bed for spiders at 3am Hmm) . Anyway we have a really busy day ahead so just hoping she isn't too grumpy because she's tired.

FoolandFitz · 31/01/2018 07:36

bower I hope you are okay (worried)

hills I only have the one too and as much as I love my lovely DS, I sometimes wish I had a NT child too

cag I am impressed with what you are achieving what with having a small baby

cotswold hope DD and you are both ok

toostressy thanks for the January thread

I am still here, although I had a mini breakdown at the weekend. I will try to post my ta-das for January this evening. My ta-da for yesterday is:

I signed up for a distance learning course to start a change in my career
I applied for a job (but not in the career I want!) - something that is not education related and will give me a bit more money. I have wanted to work for this organisation for ages and have applied for various related roles but never been successful.

HillsBesideTheSea · 31/01/2018 08:44

Grin going to be honest when I have a sad moment I just think about all the parents of NT kids who had to endure years of pepper pig, in the midnight garden etc and am very very glad that ds had grown out of that stage by the time he was 3 and already on to factual programs. Grin It really was a saving grace of sanity.

Over time at work. i haz the tiredz....
