Order, Order! Do you have a little house of horrors? Welcome to the October Flylady thread where we follow the Flylady method for keeping our houses in order (along with some general chat and support). The monthly focus for October is paper clutter

I'll be posting links to the daily missions, daily focus and the zone cleaning - don't worry about the detailed zone cleaning if you haven't already decluttered, Flylady recommends decluttering first. Join us at any point this month Glitterball

I'll post the first October links tonight!

Now are you sure ahout that? Because they do all kinds of things with science these days!

Cagliostro · 28/10/2017 21:53

:o aww thanks afresh it's so bizarre having someone so tiny!

zoo I'm so glad lil zoo is getting to try another school!

Doing ok here, laundry nearly caught up now (helps that our new WM has a bigger drum too). One more day at home tomorrow then on Monday we have to go to the hospital for her five day check, and DH has to get some printing done so we may pop into the library too which happens to be my old workplace so I could show baby off a bit, but really depends if I'm up to it. Quite dizzy at times still.

Biggest ta da today was my first anti clotting injection. I had no idea I'd have to do this until I was discharged and I had a total meltdown over it today, as I realised I couldn't remember exactly what the MW had shown me so I panicked and DH had to do it for me. DD2 turned 3 days old at 7.30pm so hormones probably played a part there. I was then explaining this day 3 thing to DH, and it made me remember how awful it was especially with DD1 as I was still in hospital when it happened, alone as it was at night, and I had no idea what was happening to me. So I got pretty upset earlier. But tomorrow will probably be harder (really hope milk comes in TBH).

In the UK working through my mum’s list of things she wants me to do so not entirely lacking flying. Will most probably just lurk until I’m back in Belgium though.

Waves to everyone especially Cag and LO.

Handygarrottes · 29/10/2017 06:23

Waves to Longtime in Blighty! (Doing chores for your mother definitely counts as Flying!!)

Ta for links Cotswold !

Waves to Cag and little 'un! Hope day 3 got better as it went on and that day 4 isn't too badxx. Take it steady if you are dizzy!

Happy birthday to Lil' Zoo Zoo! Hope you all have a lovely day! My dh does the same with presents. I'll tell him I'm sorted with enough things for DD for her birthday or Christmas and not to buy any more; but he just can't help himself! I do get annoyed about it but as the intention comes from a good place, I always forgive him in the end! But I know where you are coming from as it can feel a bit undermining. Ta for hug!

Pumpkin picking sounds lovely Toostressy!

Forgot to put clocks back!! Remembered it earlier in the day but then forgot last night! So woke up with Internet radio saying one time, and alarm clock saying another!

Had better use the extra hour to do something productive as yesterday was a complete wash-out/achieved nothing! Sadly, the boudoir is calling ... as ever ... .

Waves to Afreshstart, Honu, Hills, Whoknows, Foxes, Notquiteperfect and everyone else!

Have a lovely Sunday everyone!

Handygarrottes · 29/10/2017 06:26

Speaking of non-shrinking children, or rather expanding ones, DD has grown in to adult sized winter coats and the price difference is a bit of a Shock

Afreshstartplease · 29/10/2017 06:32

Morning all

Determined to get back at this flying lark and maybe have better looking house by christmas?

Handy how old is your giant dd? My dd is a tall thing wearing 6-7 years at only 4. I dont know how as i myself can fit into childrens clothes.

Ta da

Dryer on

Happy birthday to lilzoo! Cake i must admit i am the present over buyer here

Money is a bit tight at the moment though and i am feeling pressure of christmas looming Sad

cag hope you and your snuggly one had a good night

Handygarrottes · 29/10/2017 06:51

Afreshstart At 169/170 cm (still growing) DD is not so much tall as long limbed! Trousers and sleeve length s always too short! Definitely not the tallest in her class; pretty average! Your DD sounds like she is going to be properly tall though! Can't get over the cost of going from DC to adult clothes atm, particularly jeans, coats and shoes - we are tightening our belts for Christmas and parring down a bit - trying to be a bit more organised in process; but I say that every yr! Now you are settled, hope you are enjoying your new home!

Handygarrottes · 29/10/2017 06:54

Impressed you can fit in to DC clothes btw!!Shock

Afreshstartplease · 29/10/2017 07:07

Your dd is WAY taller than me! Im like 152 on a good day! Shock

Stilllivinginazoo · 29/10/2017 08:45

afresh dd2 was on top centile in reception year wearing 7-8 then she slowed down and rounded out at 13 shes average height but too round .moneys tight here too.how does xmas gallop up so quickly after buying new uniform for sept?

I want incredible shrinking child....(or brand new shiny one)

Thanks sc birthday wishes.we were up at crack of sparrows.friend bought her my lil pony seaponys from the new film (which shes been play with dont tell but ds enjoyed play too)
We orf shopping soon.dd1coming 11ish(lets not mention boudoirs)

I have done washing but thatll prob be about all for today

Stilllivinginazoo · 29/10/2017 08:46

Ps i 5ft 2 in old money.dd2 as tall as me and same size feet.shes bigger round the tummy ir there be clothes pinching aplenty(as opposed to just steal my socks and t shirts.grrrr)

Handygarrottes · 29/10/2017 09:31

I think that I read somewhere that girl's grow for one to two years after starting periods then stop around age 15 yrs, so think DD on last growth spurt. (Me and dh both tall.) Thinking about it, she maybe is a bit taller than some girls in her class, it's just that her two two friends who I see her with most often, are very very tall indeed and their fathers are both way taller than dh, who is 6ft three and a bit. They really are giants!! I'm a bit taller than DD and she is determined to beat my height which is a useful incentive when I want her to eat something healthy she doesn't particularly like Wink .

We have friends coming later. A large amount of effort is necessary to knock this house in to some sort of shape before then ... fortunately dh made a curry yesterday so don't have to worry about the food... and again, very fortunately, they won't be going upstairs ... .

Handygarrottes · 29/10/2017 09:34

Btw, been meaning to ask everyone, anyone made their Christmas cake yet?

Handygarrottes · 29/10/2017 09:37

That should have read "two best friends" not "two two friends" btw!

Right ... Must stop procrastinating ... .

CotswoldStrife · 29/10/2017 09:38

Stressy well done on the Parkrun yesterday. Do you have the barcode so you can watch your times fall?

Happy birthday to little zoo today, and the other child's haul at the jumble sounds a classic quantity over quality issue! I can be the same tbh!

My own DD was massively taller than her classmates when she started school, they caught up a bit but she's shot up again and is now around 148cm at age 10. No wonder we can't keep her in clothes and shoes at the moment!

Longtime, that sounds like flying but in the wrong house to benefit your own!

I am sitting in my dressing gown (way too much information there) after doing our usual lavish weekend breakfast (it's a mystery why I'm on weight loss threads as well ...) but better get ready because we are taking DD to a pumpkin carving thing in less than half an hour! Catch you all later!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 29/10/2017 09:39

Morning all. Still at my in laws, back home later tonight but no flying in the house will get done. At least we are not there messing it up and we are getting pampered here Halloween Smile.

We have made our Xmas cake, yes. One of the few things we are really organised on, mainly so that we can feed it a lot with brandy before Xmas Wine.

Ta da:-
All up and dressed except DH who can sort himself out Halloween Smile.
Started packing stuff up to go home later

To do:-
Investigate to do list Halloween Grin
Declutter some emails - I have soooo many
Some online shopping / organising

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 29/10/2017 09:46

Xpost, Cotswold, tbh I am not really a parkrun person so I didn’t have a barcode. DH goes all the time but I am usually at dancing with the girls - we do go to junior parkrun on a Sunday every so often. I had said I might go while grandparents around to watch DDs but hadn’t got round to registering or anything so no barcode. Time not too bad for me, run 5k or so fairly often although not as often as I should, have just never done parkrun. Not sure they really knew what to make of me, had to say I had no barcode, then they asked if I had registered online. Had to say no so they said I wouldn’t get an official time. Tried to explain I really wasn’t that bothered, had just wanted to run it and was happy to go down as unknown (didn’t want to cause them loads of hassle) but they really weren’t getting it. A load of runners checking their times and then me with very little competitive spirit Grin.

Happy birthday little zoo FlowersCake

HillsBesideTheSea · 29/10/2017 10:02

We don't make a fruit cake. No one likes it. Our Christmas cake is a sponge cake and that would go mouldy this early so that is a middle of December thing we do.

Ds is going to be taller than me but he is currently shorter but with almost the same shoe size (half a size difference)

to do
all the things

Cagliostro · 29/10/2017 10:10

Happy birthday lil zoo!

Not a great night here, think baby is a bit confused by milk changing. It's agony feeding at the moment, lots of toe curling and biting my own hand! 😳 Also bit the bullet last night and phoned postnatal ward as (TMI sorry) still getting clots. Any more at all and I have to go in to be checked over but really hope it's ending now.

Cagliostro · 29/10/2017 10:11

We don't like Christmas cake either. All about the chocolate here!

FlyingJellyfishInTheAttic · 29/10/2017 16:18

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend. I've just finished night shifts so haven't done anything.

This week I'm going to try and get on an even footing so I can start the Flylady process in November but have taken inspiration from the whole Daily lists, Zones and Monthly processes.

Am doing the daily so have AM, PM and eve list. As am off this week will do one room each day clean and tidy (small house) and asked DH to sort out finishing the eaves in our attic. So end of week will have a clean and tidy (albeit cluttered) house and finished storage space in attic.

Then next week will follow the Flylady lists.

Cagliostro · 29/10/2017 16:50

ta da
✅managed my own injection
✅bit of laundry
✅express milk by hand into a syringe (possibly the weirdest thing I've ever done)
✅organise changing bag ready for first trip out of the house tomorrow

CotswoldStrife · 29/10/2017 20:44

That sounds like a plan Flyingjellyfish, enjoy the week away from work. Well done on doing your own injection today Cag. Hills have you ever seen the cartoon about 'do all the things' - it was my FB profile picture for a bit!

Cooked dinner, washed up (although I need to rewash a couple of baking tins which are not quite clean IMO) and DD still has another day off school so planning a shopping trip for tomorrow before coming back for one of her clubs which is restarting a bit early IMO and then try and time dinner/eating to collect DD and let DH go out by a certain time. This may involve DH cooking which he can certainly do, but doesn't bother often. Although typically, when he wants to go out then it's a possibility Hmm

Back later with the links!
