Order, Order! Do you have a little house of horrors? Welcome to the October Flylady thread where we follow the Flylady method for keeping our houses in order (along with some general chat and support). The monthly focus for October is paper clutter

I'll be posting links to the daily missions, daily focus and the zone cleaning - don't worry about the detailed zone cleaning if you haven't already decluttered, Flylady recommends decluttering first. Join us at any point this month Glitterball

I'll post the first October links tonight!

claire i think you are going to like it here...

Longtime · 01/10/2017 16:54

Placemarking here too. All good intentions over the summer followed by a month of moving and sorting out two student offspring plus bringing my widowed mum over for a short break (it would have been their 60th wedding anniversary 28/9 😢) and I haven't got my life back to normal yet. Well, normal, I'm an empty nester for the first time and missing dd so much!

goldenclaire · 01/10/2017 17:34

zoo i reckon so Smile

long sounds like you've had hectic time of it of late.

Well i've achieved very little in the way of housework today. I have literally only managed to strip the beds and chuck into the wash, i've washed the dishes, and i have done our weekly food shop at sainsburys. Beds still need to be made.....

Stilllivinginazoo · 01/10/2017 17:52

I am not on ball.uniforms currently in wash.dd2 has just informed me needs make sweets for dt tomorrow...mad panic on goigle and just spent bloody fiver on ingredients make chocolate fudge.grrrrr

Cagliostro · 01/10/2017 18:06

FFS isn't that the kind of thing they should be doing IN the lesson rather than as homework beforehand?!

Welcome long sorry about your dad Thanks

Sandycarrots · 01/10/2017 18:16

Evening all. Survived w/e (just) although cold/flu returned conveniently as guests departed. Just got back in time for dd tutoring and was so fed up/achey waiting in car for 1.30 hrs that I succumbed and stopped at Maccie Ds on the way home. So have already failed on the dieting front on 1st day of new month.

Mahoosive wing flaps from across the city to Longtime! Wink It must have been a very hard day for you and your lovely ma on 28th but I hope she enjoyed her visit and that your DC are settling well in their new digs Flowers. Dare I suggest empty nest= perfect decluttering opportunity, although understood if the prospect makes you feel worse not better!!!

A warm welcome to Goldenclaire glad you have found us! Are you familiar with the Flylady system? (Have a Google if not.) Main principle is short focused bursts of housework done consistently in defined zones of house. Key though is decluttering first as you can't clean clutter!

Another warm welcome to Pickledsausage! Great to have another Flybaby arriving imminently on thread! Don't use the app myself (have been meaning to check it out) but I know others on here do (or use similar).

Lovely to have Oncewaswho and Honu back with us

Huge wing flaps to everyone else too of course!

Stilllivinginazoo · 01/10/2017 18:47

Can anyone spot its been a trifle wintery our neck of woods todayGrin

GingerIvy · 01/10/2017 21:21

zoo what a hassle re the chocolates. I agree - they should be doing that in class. What about the parents that can't afford to go out and get the ingredients or are working and don't have time? Not great.

We did kick the heating on this morning as it was chilly. Now I'm roasting as we've been baking and the tumble dryer has been running all day as well. Grin

Hello all and a warm welcome to newbies Smile. Thanks for shiny new thread Cotswold. Have been at work so just doing the bare minimum of putting laundry on now, thankfully DH cooked and washed up earlier. Going to bed as soon as laundry on!

Oncewaswho · 01/10/2017 23:37

Paper clutter is a timely task for me, we have redecorated and refurnished our home office (corner of the dining room) but in the meantime a paper mountain has built up, I am just about keeping up with the urgent stuff but it's a skin of the teeth job and needs tackling properly.

Cagliostro · 02/10/2017 07:46

Welcome betsy :)

Feeling bleary eyed this morning as I had the heater on overnight.

Ordered a new bed last night! My knees are not particularly keen on the mattress on the floor. Next stop will be finding new bedding as we've upgraded to king size. Yay!

Cagliostro · 02/10/2017 08:01

Also need to go to primark at some point soon as DD needs leggings, especially black ones as they have now been told there's a dress code for tap class (need to order the proper t-shirt too... as well as pay this term's invoice oops)

Soft play and lunch today, then hospital which is the clinic that always always overruns. So I doubt DS will get to taekwondo tonight :(

And need to put washing on and order Tesco which I really CBA with because I am totally sick of having to think about absolutely everything I'm eating.
