Fledglings flying high in July - the Flylady thread

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 30/06/2017 13:34

Hello and welcome to July's Flylady thread! This is a lovely friendly thread where we follow (sort of) the Flylady system in the hope of having organised homes. Some of us are more successful at this than others ;).

Newcomers are very welcome, please don't be put off by any abbreviations or general gossip. Please join in the gossip.

Every day the thread leader (me this month) will post information about the next day. This will be the current zone we are in, the decluttering/ tidying mission and the habit for the day / month. Generally this is done the evening before.

All information is available on the Flylady website www.flylady.net. On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails -
we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

There will be lots of information on this thread and you can also have a look around the (confusing at times) Flylady website:-

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

It is not a miracle and sometimes the missions are very optimistic but I work on the principle that something is better than nothing :)

Thanks for a great June thread SC.

Happy flying everyone Smile.

Hello to SC, Cotswold, Purple, mermaids, zoo, foxes and everyone else.

**
Here is the daily summary for Tuesday (also available on the Flylady website at flight plan which should update automatically each day

The daily focus for Tuesday is: planning. If you can get into the habit of doing this I imagine it is very useful Grin.

Baby-step no 4 - write a morning routine on post-its - of course you can do this if you wish but I think this is mostly replaced by apps or lists on your phone now.

reminders

We are in Zone 1 this week: the entrance, front porch and dining room

Spend 15 mins, or whatever you can manage, decluttering in Zone 1.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 1 is here

Today's mission is here

July's habit is swish and swipe

Happy flying everyone.

I've had a really grotty day at work but come home and done a lot of grumpy cooking. I've got a freezer full of bolognaise, some lovely Thai butternut squash soup and roasted a pork shoulder. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. No housework at all unless accepting an Asda delivery and putting the dishwasher on...

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 03/07/2017 22:56

Purple, sorry for horrible day. Am very impressed you channeled it into cooking!

Evening, did manage some flying today but rather scattered around the house so not immediately obvious that work has taken place Sad. That's one of the reasons Flylady focuses on one zone at a time, probably Grin

I had to wake DD this morning and she has gone to bed early tonight - I hope she's OK. One of her activities finished tonight and the teacher went a bit mad with the treat sweets, I think! DD didn't have any snacks before tea or any supper which is unheard of!

Might crawl into bed early myself with my tablet and a match 3 game and continue to hit the house with the hammer of organisation tomorrow.

Cagliostro · 03/07/2017 23:39

I know what you mean about the scattered housework. I'm not managing zones at all lately because the living room is just awful, but sometimes we have to do little bits all over (like sorting toys) and yes it does feel like there's no difference!

Sanscollier · 03/07/2017 23:44

Evening all

[SC shivers in awe slightly at the thought of Afreshstart's "stop it now" stare Grin Grin ]

Bluepheasant hope doc appt went ok!

Yes, three cheers for the cooking Purpledaisies when you are feeling grumpy Star Halo Star I hope you indulged in some satisfying pan bashing! Grin

Cag well done re: towering bookcase of doom Grin despite a difficult morning.

Cotswold hope your dd is tired and it doesn't develop in to anything else.

Einstein wow just wow at your list and hope you managed to escape for a bit!

Glad to hear the parenting classes are bearing fruit Toostressy!

Zoo hope you are ok x

Waves to Shannara Longtime Honu Rosa Mercury Mermaids Whoknows and anyone I've missed!

Now the exam stress is over, I tried to catch up with three long overdue "me" things today and I rather wish I hadn't bothered.

Went to local commune (equiv of local council admin) to sort out some questions concerning potential effects of Brexit and most people there are lovely, helpful and patient (and put up with my horrible accent) but today I got a really 'orrible jobsworth who couldn't have been more unkind really which made me feel crap.

Then had disagreement over completely arbritary issue with friend who I met up with for coffee and let's just say it also made me feel crap because I felt like my opinion was worthless.

Then went to doctor to sort out some longstanding issues who was very brusque and dismissive and, you guessed it, I felt like crap again... .

Oh well ... .

Oh yes, absolutely NIL Flying achieved.

Sanscollier · 03/07/2017 23:45

[Unless a supermarket shop counts that is]

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 04/07/2017 00:15

I did indeed manage to escape it was very much needed but has left me with no bed to sleep in and a kitchen that needs dealing with.
That said I do feel a bit calmer for having taken a step away from everything here.

PLenty of pancakes for those who need. Grin It was a 7 egg batch!

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 04/07/2017 00:18

Supermarket shop Definitely counts as flying SC!

Sanscollier · 04/07/2017 00:20

Good to hear it Einstein!! I'm definitely up for a pancake please!

I went supermarket shopping today, and on the grounds that I look like a hippopotamus currently and dd is away, I only bought strictly healthy
"diet" food. And now I have absolutely nothing I fancy eating [sob] Grin

Sanscollier · 04/07/2017 00:20

x posts!! Good to hear it about the great escape I meant! Grin

Sanscollier · 04/07/2017 00:22

Sprouting mung beans and shredded daikon don't really cut it when you've got the munchies ...

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 04/07/2017 00:28

I can't eat pancakes. Wheat and gluten. Neither are my friends. Oat milk also not my friend. Plus there has been a hell of a lot of waffle and pancake making whilst the cooker is kaput. I couldn't face eating them. Perhaps if my life depended on it I would, but it would be a struggle.

Sanscollier · 04/07/2017 00:32

Swopsies? Wink

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 04/07/2017 00:41

If i thought I could get it through customs you would be very welcome to them! Grin

Sanscollier · 04/07/2017 00:49

Thanks for the thought Grin. Although I wouldn't have you risk it. Rather too many pancakes and waffles available here already!!

[Adds body clutter to to do list under "urgent". ] Blush

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 04/07/2017 01:08

It is in the same place on my list Blush

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 04/07/2017 08:49

So it turns out that I am the only person that changes the calendars. I swear next year I am insisting on only 1 calendar in the house!

ds has been despatched to school on time
I am in that zombie state which occurs when it is 4am before you fall asleep and your alarm goes off and you snooze it to nearly 8:20am but yet you have a lot of stuff to do. Hmm

I do hope that everyone else had a better night!

Rosabellajames · 04/07/2017 09:38

ta da
bathroom scrubbed
wash done
kids are at school

I can't check in as often as I would like, dd2 is a little clingy, she's so close to walking and needs constant reassurance at the moment. I'll try and catch up on the thread at some point!!

Got the door scrubbed inside and out, and did the entrance yesterday, as well as a bit more weed pulling in the garden.

To do
Strip both of the girls beds
hoover & dust upstairs
A bit more gardening
General tidy

easy tea tonight because I've got a spag bol that I've taken out of the freezer - really must do some more batch cooking, it's ideal when dd2 is having her cranky times.

Thanks for the links stressy

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 04/07/2017 11:06

Morning all.

My DC are too young for calendars really although DD1 has one of those tear off ones that she made at school and does like to cross the days off. DH occasionally looks at wall calendar but really calendars are only for my benefit in the house. We have much more success with a linked phone calendar that is shared by me and DH. Everything goes on there.

I'm hoping to maybe get round to making a wall planner for the summer holidays so that we can have some lovely family time GrinGin or at least try to limit the 'I'm boreds'.

Ta da:-
Morning routine
Some clothes put away

To do:-
Put more clothes away. They are everywhere!
DD2 school visit
DDs have planned a toy tea party for after school

Was going to take some stuff to charity shop but it is lashing down with rain and you can't park outside so don't think I can as the things will get trashed.

Have about an hour to myself when DD2 goes to school visit. Can't decide between:-
Sitting in cafe and reading parenting manual (desperately needed)
Going home and putting away clothes (also desperately needed).
