Fledglings flying high in July - the Flylady thread

Hello and welcome to July's Flylady thread! This is a lovely friendly thread where we follow (sort of) the Flylady system in the hope of having organised homes. Some of us are more successful at this than others ;).

Newcomers are very welcome, please don't be put off by any abbreviations or general gossip. Please join in the gossip.

Every day the thread leader (me this month) will post information about the next day. This will be the current zone we are in, the decluttering/ tidying mission and the habit for the day / month. Generally this is done the evening before.

All information is available on the Flylady website www.flylady.net. On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails -
we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

There will be lots of information on this thread and you can also have a look around the (confusing at times) Flylady website:-

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

It is not a miracle and sometimes the missions are very optimistic but I work on the principle that something is better than nothing :)

Thanks for a great June thread SC.

Happy flying everyone Smile.

Spent five hours going to Amsterdam and back to take dm and ds1 to schiphol.

Played a word clue game with ds2, dd and dnephew. Then watched a film with them. Ds2 is returning to London tomorrow so making the most of his last day.

The only flying I did was to load and empty the dishwasher!

We are off to the Netherlands tomorrow once ds2 has left as we have a little house there. My dh works there three days a week but it's not really lived in properly so it's super tidy and uncluttered. Won't have to worry about flying until we get back on Wednesday!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 02/07/2017 07:36

Morning everyone. longtime, super tidy and uncluttered sounds lovely! Sadly I never seem to manage that.

Ta da:-
I am awake and showered and have started packing up our things

To do:-
Wait for DDs to wake up which will surely be soon. Why do they not sleep like this at home?!
Pack stuff
Put all the laundry into a bag and sob about having to do it later
Breakfast out with my parents - fingers crossed it is ok - and then the drive home.

Hope you are all having a nice weekend.

Oooh pray tell about the new word game please?

SC hope DD is ok, settling in nerves perhaps?

Not actually sure what I'm doing today, DH has taken DD to dance rehearsal but they haven't actually told us how long it lasts Hmm and DH has to get to work later so no idea if I will have to collect or meet in town, or if DH will stick her on the bus home. Bah

Cagliostro · 02/07/2017 09:12

Also family aren't coming until the weekend so I feel we have longer to sort ourselves out! Still looking at the precarious pile swamping on top of the bookcase. Also must keep ahead of the table/stairs hotspots

Longtime · 02/07/2017 10:54

Only uncluttered there though TooStressy. Far too cluttered here. Dd got lots of little presents for her 18th birthday and they are sitting in a pile on the piano stool! Her art stuff is all over the computer table. The worst is the attic though where everything gets dumped waiting for it to be sorted out. It's a converted attic and my dh's office so I shouldn't really just put it up there and forget about it though I do, far too often. I'm going to get dd to sort out her room when we are back from the Netherlands. Do you all have untidy dcs?

The word game is called Codenames.

Stilllivinginazoo · 02/07/2017 14:12

Hi all
Just showing face really
2loads washing and some shopping done but that's about all.I know o need do it but I just feel tired and depressed today
toostressy hope today goes smoothly and thanks leading us into this month

Cagliostro · 02/07/2017 15:27

Ooh fab I have heard good things about codenames! Did they enjoy it? It's on my wishlist but I'm not sure if the Caglets would 'get' it

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 02/07/2017 15:27

Ds wouldn't know what tidy was if his life depended on it. Hmm

Lie in but now have to crazily run around putting ds' room back together and sorting laundry and then go fetch him before we got to a birthday celebration.
Also wtaf is the point of wrapping paper which won't stick with selotape?!

mermaidsandunicorns · 02/07/2017 15:51

Wow I've been so busy

Taken advantage of the weather and had a massive garden blitz

Ta das
Bedding washed and hung out
Dishwasher loaded and done
Hoovered
Unruly bushes trimmed
Lawn mowed
Weeding done
Bracken, brambles and ivy cut back
Decking swept
BBQ shopping done
BBQ put together

I should stress I've done these things with two very very grumpy merlets which is like trying to control two snakes at the moment

I'm going to enjoy the BBQ tonight with a large gin

BluePheasant · 02/07/2017 15:56

Hello everyone Smile

Big thank you to sc for June thread and to TooStressy for taking on July Grin

Well I can safely say there will be v little flying happening on my part over the coming weeks... have recently found out I'm pregnant! Very much wanted but unfortunately I'm feeling absolutely rotten. Was the same with DD. Severe nausea and exhaustion all day. I went to bed at 7.30 last night! I'm going to see GP and ask demand for some anti sickness meds as I just can't suffer in silence like last time! Signed up to extra hours at work this month as wasn't expecting to get a bfp, massively regretting that decision now and pretty sorry for myself atm!

Stilllivinginazoo · 02/07/2017 16:06

Oooh congrats blueFlowers
Sorry you are feeling so rubbish though

I love all the new arrivals we get here

Hahahaha stressy
I would be running for the hills if I ever became pregnant again

Rosabellajames · 02/07/2017 16:41

Waving from the naughty corner !! Far too nice a weekend to clean, football yesterday and today our local carnival . Will be back on here tomorrow, moaning because I didn't go shopping, have no meal plan and no uniforms ironed !! Grin

Cagliostro · 02/07/2017 17:17

Yay blue congratulations! Fabulous news 😍😍

Sympathies on the feeling rubbish. I have to say this latest pregnancy was awful, I have had chronic fatigue syndrome for 5 years and yet I have literally NEVER been as tired as I was in the first trimester. Growing a person takes a lot out of you - take it easy and get the ginger biscuits in. I had something called cyclizine (sp) for nausea btw and it helped, I wish I'd asked earlier.

Cagliostro · 02/07/2017 17:20

I mean current pregnancy oops, just the first trimester was awful. Feeling much better at the mo

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 02/07/2017 18:36

Hello all, in case anyone is wondering, I have been a terrible thread leader and got names mixed up earlier so got my comment deleted Blush.

Anyway.... back from parents, house trashed, DH (understandably) exhausted from the drive plus a busy morning. Both children not tired. They never get tired!!!! Need to plough though bedtime then try to get house sorted.

Oh, and it's my birthday today!!! Celebrated yesterday to be fair with a surprisingly lovely family day and then the childfree night so fairly normal day today.

Will be back on in a bit.

Happy birthday stressy! Cake Wine

BluePheasant · 02/07/2017 20:23

stressy Grin we all have those moments! Happy birthday, glad you've had a nice weekend SmileCake

Thank you ladies, we'd been trying for a while and it's so true what they say, as soon as you stop thinking about it, that bfp happens! Still v early days, about 6 weeks, but symptoms def getting worse so hopefully that's a good sign even though it doesn't feel it!

Yes cag the fatigue is unreal, am tired doing nothing. If I'm not feeling sick, then I can barely keep eyes open. Really hope I can get something to ease sickness.

DH is currently sorting things for tomorrow, work clothes god I wish I didn't have work, lunches etc and then we are going to do the food shop online together so that I don't feel completely useless! I'm up in bed already after throwing my dinner up Sad

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 02/07/2017 20:26

Thanks Cag Smile. Glad you are feeling less tired.

DD2 still awake but have opened some Wine to celebrate birthday. DH knackered (longish drive) so hoping to spend some time with him briefly and then watch what I want on telly Grin.

Whole house a bit of a mess now so I think I will try to work in the zone we are actually in and try to do some tidying in zone 1 tonight in front of telly on my phone. Haven't seen our cat yet which is a bit of a concern - will try to tempt her in later with food.

The weekend was really not too bad!!!!!! Feel relieved that it is over and still some comments on parenting but much less than usual from my parents Grin. Actually managed to have a good time with them at points.

Have a few bits to do tomorrow so need to do some form of before bed routine tonight.

Rosa, sounds like a fab weekend. Grin at being on here moaning. BluePheasant, such wonderful news Smile. Hope your GP can help you a bit. zoo, I also love hearing all the bits and pieces of people's lives on here Smile. SC, hope your DD is ok.

Sounds like a super productive day mermaids, especially with merlets in tow Star. Einstein and longtime, YY, my DC are so untidy! DD1 is a clutter magnet and DD2 is still in the emptying out drawers stage. Hoping to get them tidier as I get tidier. Hahahahaha.

Big wing flaps to Cotswold, Purple, Shannara, Afresh, Wh0Kn0ws and everyone else. Will be back on with links later.

Evening all!

Many happy returns Toostressy! Hope you have/are having a lovely day and glad to hear that the trip to your parents went well!

Wheee heee congratulations Bluepheasant! What lovely news! (Very sorry to hear you are feeling rotten though and have to work extra hours. Could you have a word with them about your new circumstances perhaps?)

Hope you are having a lovely barbecue Mermaids

And good to hear you are feeling a bit better now Cag

Sorry you've been feeling a bit low today Zoo take it steady x

Waves to Longtime Cotswold Honu Whoknows Afresh Einstein Shannara Rosa and everyone else I've missed!

Ta v muchly for kind enquiries re: dd. We haven't heard any more from her - or from the camp leaders - so we are assuming no news is good news and that she is ok. Dh and I have done sod all today except go for a long dog walk and eat a nice supper which was lovely - and we made sure we had our mobiles within range of a signal at all times. Fingers crossed it was just first night wobbles as Cag suggested.

G'night all! And take care of yourself Bluepheasant!
