Fledglings flying high in July - the Flylady thread

Hello and welcome to July's Flylady thread! This is a lovely friendly thread where we follow (sort of) the Flylady system in the hope of having organised homes. Some of us are more successful at this than others ;).

Newcomers are very welcome, please don't be put off by any abbreviations or general gossip. Please join in the gossip.

Every day the thread leader (me this month) will post information about the next day. This will be the current zone we are in, the decluttering/ tidying mission and the habit for the day / month. Generally this is done the evening before.

All information is available on the Flylady website www.flylady.net. On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails -
we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

There will be lots of information on this thread and you can also have a look around the (confusing at times) Flylady website:-

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

It is not a miracle and sometimes the missions are very optimistic but I work on the principle that something is better than nothing :)

Thanks for a great June thread SC.

Happy flying everyone Smile.

Thanks SC. Sounds as if your DD has settled then.

**

Here is the daily summary for Monday (also available on the Flylady website at flight plan which should update automatically each day

The daily focus for Monday is: weekly home blessing hour. I have no idea how anyone manages this in an hour! I don't even try - DH does it towards the end of the week while I amuse the kids and I change the sheets at some other point towards the end of the week.

Baby-step no 3 - explore the website Worth having a look around.

reminders

We are in Zone 1 this week: the entrance, front porch and dining room

Spend 15 mins, or whatever you can manage, decluttering in Zone 1.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 1 is here

Today's mission is here

I have changed the links a little just to encourage more clicking on the Flylady website itself as it sounds as if she quite rightly wants people to click on the website if that makes sense (thanks SC). Also less effort for thread leader this way Grin.

July's habit is swish and swipe

Happy flying everyone.

Happy birthday Stressy and congratulations to Blue (sorry about the nausea though, it's grim).

Out for a fair bit of today so not much flying accomplished. Aiming to power through the last few weeks of term before going on holiday at the end of July (rare bit of thinking ahead for me, there). Which also means it's time for my annual 'must get things sorted before we go away in a few weeks' train of thought. This never ends well ...

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 02/07/2017 23:24

Cag yes, we all enjoyed codenames. Congratulations to Blue!

Nice tidy house here. Doesn't feel very lived in though. Cant have everything I guess !

Afreshstartplease · 03/07/2017 03:09

If I hadn't been up since 230 with DC4 I'd say these thread pregnancies are making me broody!

Afreshstartplease · 03/07/2017 03:09

Seriously though, congrats blue!

Shannaratiger · 03/07/2017 06:38

Morning all
Quick hello while kettle boils.

BLucy - congratulations hope nausea gets sorted soon.
Stressy - happy birthday.

DH always has Monday off so doing Tesco then town for McDonald's.

Have a good morning back later with a to do list.

Cagliostro · 03/07/2017 06:51

Shock Hope you got back to sleep afresh!

Been awake a while myself, I wish I was the kind of person who could just think fine I'll get up and do stuff then. But no. I just stay in bed with my mind wandering until I get too hungry to stay there anymore. :o

Afreshstartplease · 03/07/2017 07:16

I did get back to sleep although only on the sofa but not sure what time TBH. And I slept all bent so now I'm all achy. Nice.

Anyway. Kettle is boiling to save the day

I do.

---------->

but you don't want me to use it.
I have serious grumps today.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 03/07/2017 11:41

Hello all,
Brew for all grumpy people.

Ta da:-
Exercise
Morning routine
Card and present done

House still a mess but not there now as our at DD2's activity so not much I can do there now!

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 03/07/2017 11:42

Same here einstein today is crap, DD and I are both at each other's throats TBH. She has been in a foul mood all morning and I can't handle it at all. Trying to declutter but keep dealing with random explosions of rage. DS is upset as he can't stand shouting or crying. I don't often actually shout - get annoyed, talk firmly, sure, but today I have shouted a lot

BluePheasant · 03/07/2017 15:35

Thank you for all the congrats Grin
That did make me chuckle afresh hope tonight goes better for you Smile

I have an appointment at 4.30 with gp about getting some meds for my nausea. Today has been better but I can feel it gradually getting worse as the day goes on.

Had 4 hours to do at work this morning and have given kitchen a quick wipe and floor sweep but even that seemed quite an effort! Is fustrating but I know I need to rest or the nausea gets even worse.

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 03/07/2017 18:31

ta da
destroy my room in an attempt to tidy
look at hotel rooms
write a to do holiday wish list
figure out contact days for ds and his dad
conquer the sock pile of doom
sort out proper summer storage for winter knits and put into use
play tetris with my book case and its contents
put a load of washing on
Drink Waaaaaaaay too much coffee
Confirm plans for the weekend
reclaim washing up from various rooms
Start restocking the emergency extra supplies for school (red pens, blue/black pens, pencils, rulers etc etc)
Air the house
clear ds' bed for touching up the coving paint --which i haven't done and it is too late now to do.
find the birthday cards I still haven't sent
update and sort calendar
attempt to pick up an extra under bed storage tub but fail as none in stock
discover broken picture frame and add take to framers to the to do list
Cook a huge vat of pancakes in an attempt to use up some eggs
Ironing

All I need to do now is finished destroying my room and put it back together. But I don't want to and am feeling isolated and trapped so will probably see if the other adult in the house tonight is willing to be supervisiory reminder of bedtime for ds and go be isolated somewhere that is not here.

Cagliostro · 03/07/2017 18:39

Feeling slightly more human having sobbed on DH again this morning. We did get a fair bit done considering. I also made a pile of books to give away after he left so we now have about two bag-for-lifes worth for the chazzer just from today! DS also decluttered by building a robot puzzle model thing that we'd forgotten about.

Hospital appt was fine considering it was delayed by 90mins 😱 Caglets were really good considering. Now got to get the jacket spuds nuked and finish them in the oven.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 03/07/2017 19:24

Are there any pancakes left for the naughty corner Einstein? Cag, Star for Caglets waiting so long and glad appointment ok. Hope you get on ok at docs BluePheasant. Afresh, you sound justifiably exhausted Flowers. Any news re. your work hours? I'm sure you know this but Flylady has some good info on packing and moving house on the website.

Thanks for birthday wishes Shannara. Hope your DS had a nice inset day. longtime, at least I can console myself with the fact that my house is lived in Grin. Hope you got on ok with the home bleugh Rosa?

Ta da:-
Both DDs in PJs and watching telly quietly
Had to give DD2 a few time outs today but starting to feel more confident in using it and have been pulling DD1 up more then I usually would Star. Still huge work in progress though and have to miss parenting class this week (unavoidable funeral - nobody I was close to but a very sad situation for a close friend) so hope I can keep going.

DH has made tea and it is in the oven

To do:-
Tidying - there is laundry everywhere!!
Decluttering

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 03/07/2017 19:43

Great that you've been getting more confident on the discipline stressy I bet it makes lots of difference!

Forgot to say one of the things we tackled today was the Towering Bookcase of Doom. Not quite done but soooo much better

Cagliostro · 03/07/2017 19:45

That probably sounded patronising, sorry it wasn't meant to at all. I was totally floundering when my two were that age TBH still am

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 03/07/2017 19:54

Not patronising at all!! I'll take all the help I can get. The course leader says it's as much about facial expressions and showing that you are confident (even if you are not!) and mean it as it is about what you actually do. Sort of fake it until you make it. Fab news re bookcase Smile.

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 03/07/2017 20:01

That's a really interesting point about facial expression! I'd not thought of that.

Afreshstartplease · 03/07/2017 20:24

Totally agree about facial expression

I can stop my older three misbehaving with one look

The fucking stop it now facial expression

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 03/07/2017 20:26

Please tell me more Afresh!! I will take any advice.
