Fledglings flying high in July - the Flylady thread

Hello and welcome to July's Flylady thread! This is a lovely friendly thread where we follow (sort of) the Flylady system in the hope of having organised homes. Some of us are more successful at this than others ;).

Newcomers are very welcome, please don't be put off by any abbreviations or general gossip. Please join in the gossip.

Every day the thread leader (me this month) will post information about the next day. This will be the current zone we are in, the decluttering/ tidying mission and the habit for the day / month. Generally this is done the evening before.

All information is available on the Flylady website www.flylady.net. On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails -
we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

There will be lots of information on this thread and you can also have a look around the (confusing at times) Flylady website:-

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

It is not a miracle and sometimes the missions are very optimistic but I work on the principle that something is better than nothing :)

Thanks for a great June thread SC.

Happy flying everyone Smile.

Hello all, terrible reception here at the moment! Will be on later with a new thread

I have no steam today! Epically tachycardic and O2 sats low Hmm Confused and headache from hell. Moved antenatal appt as couldn't face it what with DS being bloody hard work today too. So have been lurking on the sofa and managed nothing bar sorting a bit of laundry.

Agree on the school uniform, it's shocking :( glad you got some help with the costs. At my secondary not even the shirts or skirts could be generic - very specific green kilts and green/white stripy blouses, nowt from Tesco etc. Dread to think how much it cost my parents. State school but uniform was very much like private school uniforms IYSWIM.

I spent hours today reading an old thread about organisation tips and decided one more thing I can do immediately - I'm going to get a cheap concertina file for important paperwork. We are always getting bills, tax credit letters etc and putting them down and not knowing where they are when we need them a few days/weeks later. Not going to try anything more complicated than putting them in the folder (possibly with some of the sections labelled e.g. Utilities). Should help.

Oh no! Hope you feel better soon Cag. Going to post links for tonight now while I have reception and then start new thread. Have vague memory still of someone saying they would do August so I hope I am not treading on toes. If anyone wants to do August I will not be remotely offended!

August thread

OP posts:

Liking the August habit! Getting one full load washed, dried and away every day is my current aim. It builds up so quickly otherwise. Part of the caglets' morning list is to put jammies straight in the laundry basket and they'll have the same on the bedtime list when we write it, so hoping that'll help stop the spread. Then I can just start putting the washing on at the same time each day - could do mornings but I'm thinking it might be better to put it on last thing at night instead so I can dry it first thing and it's less likely to get forgotten about as my energy runs out during the day!
