Hello all and welcome to the March Flylady thread! Welcome to all current posters and also to any returners plus of course anyone who would like to join. The more the merrier. Jump in where you are.

We are a friendly group who (sort of) follow the Flylady system in hopes of a more organised home and life. Some of us manage that better than others :).

Since last month seemed to be ok I'll follow the same format of personals throughout the day (or in the evening if I haven't had a chance in the day) and links in the evening. Please, though, let me know if you want me to change anything or if I have posted anything wrong.

It's my first time running this thread so here we go with links... Please if anything is wrong feel free to correct me. Hopefully it will all go swimmingly this month but I apologise in advance for anything not slick! I'm starting a day early as have work tomorrow and I am slow at this but will try to stay on the old thread until tomorrow. Thanks again SC and Cotswold as I have basically copied your notes again.

Flylady advises decluttering for 15 mins a day. I tend to manage 5 but I know lots of people have great results with 15.

For a summary of what's going on, go to www.flylady.net/c/lp.php or just follow this thread

Newbies, welcome, have a look around the Flylady website www.flylady.net - it can sometimes be a bit disorganised. Unless you want to, beware of signing up for her emails - there are hundreds and all the info is on the website anyway. Here is the getting started link www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

You can post what we you done (ta das) and any to do lists if you want to- I definitely find this helpful.

I have no tips really as all we can do is ride it out with lots of sympathy and cuddles and calpol/piriton etc :(

The running thing, they are all given a tracker device which measures how far they actually run. They can stop whenever and as often as they want, they each have a tent on the field for their stuff (and if they want to sleep). But the tracker will know. :o

foxessocks · 30/03/2017 09:39

afresh chocolate definitely helps! Brew you must have patience of a saint with 4 Grin. I am usually a calm person and I don't lose my temper often but I guess sometimes it builds up and up and then you just snap!!

Anyway, thanks for all the kind words you all really made me feel better. I'm feeling better today, we had a bad night with the baby but fingers crossed he is going to have a nap now and dd is at nursery so I've got a bit of breathing space. Hopefully we'll get out in the lovely weather this afternoon.

Good morning all! [Emerges from behind straw barricades.] Feel about 93 today.

Zoo I'll join you in the tin hat brigade if I may. Another foul one here this morning (you have all my sympathies). Meltdown apparently caused by me buying the wrong type of ham for sandwiches Confused and that apparently is concrete evidence of my general unworthiness to be a mother and lack of love and concern [sigh] but was in reality caused by the fact that I wouldn't give in over Ipod and laptop confiscation.

As dh is actually here mid-week for once and not travelling and displayed disapproval at the level of vitriol being generated by 6 am sandwich-making, I decided to swiftly extract myself from the situation and went in to hiding, citing urgent accounting issues ... . "Jolly good, leave it to me" dh said with his "fun Daddy" face on and went bravely in to battle ... he emerged approx 1 and a quarter hours later having waved dd off to school ... a shell-shocked and broken man .... .

Grin Grin

OK slight exaggeration there - but you get the picture!!!

What has actually saved my sanity this morning is the "how difficult is it to just * get dressed thread" (perhaps another one you shouldn't read too closely Dani Grin) which describes a teenage boy who baths instead of showers because standing up in the shower is "too tiring" Grin Grin Thoroughly recommend to anyone in the doldrums this morning!! A Mumsnet classic!

Apologies to Afreshstart and others with more than one child - I know this must seem utterly pathetic and I know in reality we have it very easy with an 'only' - but dd's hormonal strops are something to behold atm! (She is lovely most of the rest of the time though!!)

Right, had better stir my stumps and actually go and do something!

Have a productive day everyone!

Toostressy/Cotswold sorry cannot do links tonight - out at church thing - so handing gold sprinkled feather duster back to you!

Thank you for truly awesome thread leading throughout March Toostressy and good luck for April Cotswold!!

Cake Gin [flower] for you both!

Away for two weeks or so now from tomorrow! Happy Flying everyone and Happy Easter!

Sweepingchange · 30/03/2017 09:55

Glad you feel better and have a bit of breathing space today Foxes!

Thanks Zoo it is certainly quite "intense" at times, but at least you get a thorough break when one's oh takes over! I don't know how people manage with broken nights and lots of littlies! So sorry to hear your little one still suffering, sounds awful Sad

foxessocks · 30/03/2017 10:27

Well I think we're all bloody brilliant! Grin
Ds had a good nap and is now scoffing a rusk while I have a tea break. It seems food is the only thing that keeps him occupied for more than 2 minutes Hmm not the best habit but there you are.

Ta das
Daily routine done including a swish and swipe of the bathroom

To do
Everything else plus sort out nappy bin and clean up mess created by rusk eating 7 month old...

danigrace · 30/03/2017 10:32

Have a lovely break Sweeping!

Zoo Sad have you got any chamomile tea? If you make up a mug and let it go cold a flannel or cotton wool pads or similar with it dabbed on can be quite soothing and anti inflammatory. and sipping a mug helps me not be a crazy lady sometimes

I'm always so impressed with all that you girls accomplish so early! I literally woke up 15 mins ago Blush ended up working on a complicated research report (needed a source list and the full works...) until gone 1am, finally got it finished and emailed off. DP stayed up to offer moral support and make me drinks and bring me snacks bless him and he is now still snoozing away and is about to get poked!! We run our own business together mostly from home with an element of travelling around in this country, I really love what we do and that we get to do it together but I'm wondering if it will be a good thing when baby comes or not. At least we can work as a tag team I guess!!

To dos

  • morning routine
  • 15 mins in baby-to-be room
  • 15 mins living room
  • go get paint for baby's room?
  • go to butchers
  • monthly financial round up and bill pay...

Dd has just declared she is going to finish tidying her bedroom (started two days ago) So we will see how that goes!

Kitchen a tip. Living room half tip. Bathroom needs scrubbing. Backlog of washing in all baskets.

Cleaned toy kitchen

Afresh it's a bit hit and miss but I think he is getting the hang of it now. He loves some weetabix in the mornings and then he just has a bit of whatever we're having. Dinner isn't very successful yet as he is usually too tired by then. Have you started weaning yet? I saw you on the other thread about weaning but I haven't checked back on there for a day or two.

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/03/2017 13:36

afresh half a tipGrin
We go messy,.,hazard,bearpit,hovel,tip,disaster/tornado site....
Most time messy is an achievement, but if I realistic ds room tornado, girls, hazard(lil zoo meticulous,dd2 a slattern like mum)bathroom usually best room in house as no clutter there.

So I got a nice nap in with lil zoo.I sm actually awake now rather than bumbling zombie, which always s bonus as we going gp 410regard her still dodgy eyes(yes.this child's falling apartGrin)I will ask him bout her rather attractive not scabby patch.
I've just powered up on 4iced buns with raspberry jam in and whilst I high on sugar I go hit skirting boards and clear under dining table
dani thanks tip.might have get some as I permanently wired,I sure I read somewhere they good for sore eyes too(mine get very sore end day) and as I have blond hair(darkened as hit twenties but with blond streaks people pay fortune to dye in) its very good at a cheats highlightGrin

Right fledglings, I am go make start before I get carb sleepy!!

Right I have one hour and twenty minutes and I am determined to make my kitchen and living room look OK!

Just taking 5 minutes! Have skim read thread and will be back with personals. Don't worry Cotswold, I can do tonight and tomorrow then can hand over the reigns Smile. Had nice day at work but then not nice drive home as had to divert round blocked road plus then home to an hour of on off upset from DD2 (stop reading now Dani!). Both DDs now showered, have given DD1 an extra tv programme while I sorted DD2 out so running a bit late tonight. Last day of term tomorrow so not too worried by later bedtime.

Might have to ring health visitor tomorrow to get some advice re DD2. Going to get girls some milk now and go from there.

Stuck with DD2 who is refusing to go to sleep and have really lost the will now. Will be in naughty corner with Wine as realistically now by the time I have eaten and done the bare minimum it will be late. At least she is still being cute.

foxes, hope you are managing to flop in front of tv. Thanks for your supportive words SC! ndo, I'm sure we all know what you mean by overwhelming to do lists. Afresh, hope the pointy stick worked for your kitchen tidying.

Oh my goodness she is playing peekabo with the duvet Angry Smile. zoo,nap sounds like a brilliant idea. dani, very impressed you can work with your DP Grin. Cag, 24 hour run thing definitely seems intriguing!

Sorry for double post there!

Here is the daily summary for Friday (also available on the Flyladywebsite at flight plan which should update automatically each day.

The daily focus for Friday is: declutter your handbag and car/date night

Baby-step no 31 - think about signing up for the individual emails For goodness sake don't do this - there are 100s!

reminders

We are in Zone 5 for the start of this week: the living room

Spend 15 mins (or whatever you can manage) decluttering in Zone 5.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 5 is here
Mission:

Dear Friends,

Today I want you to spend 15 minutes getting rid of anything that does not belong in your living room. Things that have gotten thrown in a corner, on a chair, or even the floor. The things that you almost don't even see because they have just become part of the room, get it out! If it does not belong there then out it goes.

This does not mean that you have to spend three hours in your living room, do what you can do for 15 minutes.

March habit is getting dressed to shoes www.flylady.net/d/habits-of-the-month/march/

Flykids mission: www.flylady.net/c/flykids.php?tzm=0

Happy flying.

Ugh awful night with merlets
They don't do tired very well at all
Am glad for holidays now although vv early start tomorrow for work

danigrace · 31/03/2017 01:34

Well done on your days ladies! I feel I'm in the right place at the right time and will definitely rely on your advice in the months ahead!!

Haha Stressy a lot of ppl say that to us, we are together 24/7 except when I go to my antenatal exercise classes. But we started working together not long after we moved in together (we were only 19 when we moved in, we're 30 now) so we've never known any difference really and it works well for us. Helps that you know what's going on with each other so can help each other out when needed etc.

Zoo yes chamomile tea is lovely on the eyes, cotton wool pads soaked in the cooled tea or even just 2 cooled used teabags!!

Well I got through my list except getting the paint. Another mega busy work day ahead tomorrow but don't have to leave the house so hopefully the day will be a productive one!

Stilllivinginazoo · 31/03/2017 05:26

afresh hope you managed drag kitchen/living room into some semblensce of tidy or downgraded mess levels at least to lower rating

a foxes we are all greatWink

mermaids tired kids are horrible creatures.hope they sleep well tonight

toostressy peek a boo under duvet when you are tired is a form of torture.hope you get a good nights sleep
Lil zoo and I manage get under dining table sorted.due to lack storage there is still a few bits under there but its all been pulled out and restacked after clean floor/skirting boards.I discovered dd2 been hoarding school books under there (deposits on her bed to put away)along lits if other belongings.clearly that's her hot spot of choiceHmm

Lil zoos gp trip was interesting.he show her aura pictures of migraine.she has one that's a little similar, although she didnt tell us til after that she has patterns all over not in a ring at edges, which is what gp defines as classic fir migraines. Grrr
He's suggesting try reset her with plenty sleep, fluids and wear sunglasses on bright days, plus 3days of calpol 3x a day. If after 2 weeks no better he can only offer refer to paediatrician as all eye tests already undertaken when we visited eye a+e and we know nerves/back eyes are fine. He's a bit at a lids tbh.he did however give her a cream to heal up her face!!

I've had calk from school about ds attending SATs prep in hols.he really didn't want for it finding it all very stressful and as it said in letter was a)voluntary and b)you had to do all 4 days not pick and choose I agreed he didn't have do it.
They rang me yesterday demand know WHY wasn't do it.I said dd2 birthday falls last one and as 13 she will be very angry he's not part her" big day".they're demanding he do other 3days,if he doesn't want to join in "fun activities" pm he can do 930-1230....
I told him last might and he erupt huge sobs, follow by rage....
I gave weigh him today and go dietetics. If he's not gaining I think I have good grounds refuse participate as he's getting to stressed.
Any advice people?!

Tadas fir today
Cat fed
Wash on
Lav bleached

Its a mad one here today as last day term and dp n I have shed loads to do.must crack on
TTFN!
