Hello all and welcome to the March Flylady thread! Welcome to all current posters and also to any returners plus of course anyone who would like to join. The more the merrier. Jump in where you are.

We are a friendly group who (sort of) follow the Flylady system in hopes of a more organised home and life. Some of us manage that better than others :).

Since last month seemed to be ok I'll follow the same format of personals throughout the day (or in the evening if I haven't had a chance in the day) and links in the evening. Please, though, let me know if you want me to change anything or if I have posted anything wrong.

It's my first time running this thread so here we go with links... Please if anything is wrong feel free to correct me. Hopefully it will all go swimmingly this month but I apologise in advance for anything not slick! I'm starting a day early as have work tomorrow and I am slow at this but will try to stay on the old thread until tomorrow. Thanks again SC and Cotswold as I have basically copied your notes again.

Flylady advises decluttering for 15 mins a day. I tend to manage 5 but I know lots of people have great results with 15.

For a summary of what's going on, go to www.flylady.net/c/lp.php or just follow this thread

Newbies, welcome, have a look around the Flylady website www.flylady.net - it can sometimes be a bit disorganised. Unless you want to, beware of signing up for her emails - there are hundreds and all the info is on the website anyway. Here is the getting started link www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

You can post what we you done (ta das) and any to do lists if you want to- I definitely find this helpful.

Hi all,

Just been catching up on the last thread and checking into the new one Grin

Kitchen declutter is coming to a standstill atm but have made progress on the lounge and sorted DD's toys out. Also all her toy kitchen stuff has been regrouped together as it was all over the place! Was finding plastic food in the most random places!

A few ta das this week

Keeping to morning routine and a rough evening routine ( that one needs more fine tuning tbh!)
Lots of washing and ironing (so how come the basket is still bloody full??Confused)
Changed bedding
Hoovered everywhere
Tidied DDs room

Seriously drowning in laundry atm, DH did a fair bit over weekend too so I just don't get it! Going to try and crack it tomorrow.

I'm always feeling an two steps behind with the daily missions, every time I read one I think yes I really need to do that but need to do x,y, z first! Think I need to remember I have a lot of decluttering to get through before I'm going to feel on top of things more. I want to get the downstairs done before I make a real start in the bedrooms.
Anyway, we don't have a dining room so I'm going to attempt to do wednesdays mission on the porch tomorrow evening as it has got in such a state while I was away at the weekend. Our garage isn't attached to the house so the porch often starts to double up as a shed/workshop. It can't be helped to a certain extent as nowhere else to keep DDs bike but I draw the line at tools left out and all the other random stuff! DH will be helping me of course, and by helping I mean following instructions Wink

Back at lunchtime!

PurpleDaisies · 02/03/2017 11:11

I'm panic finishing a crochet blanket for a friend who is having a baby tomorrow. It's snuck up on me. I'm currently looking for appliqué patterns. I'm torn between animals and flowers.

afreshstart fours loads of washing?!!! I'm seriously impressed.

Afreshstartplease · 02/03/2017 11:34

Purple we are a family of six, I think I generally do atleast three loads a day. I've done two already this morning!/

CotswoldStrife · 02/03/2017 16:07

Stressy, good luck with the interview on Friday - if you need anyone to run the thread while you prepare for it let me know!

Bit of work done today may also have gone up a few levels on Frozen Free Fall and DD enjoyed World Book Day at school.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 02/03/2017 18:43

Hello all, sorry to be AWOL. Just back from work and after school club and nursery now, DC having a quick rest before the joy of bathtime etc. DH away tonight. Have vague hope of getting both DC to bed by 8 as have food shop coming and need to do some interview prep.

Thanks Cag, I will be ok tonight but probably not on much tomorrow until later on in the day, will let you all know how it goes, so if you could keep an eye on the thread in the day that would be fab as I have not really managed it today or yesterday as at work.

Hello to Cotswold, Afresh and Purple. Wh have world book day tomorrow for DD1 so will have costumes to sort out again tomorrow morning.

zoo, fingers crossed for your DS. The whole system is just broken and I don't know what the answer is.

Blue, good toy decluttering! What's the secret?!

Laundry is fairly constant here too Confused.

Hi also to mermaids and everyone else Smile. foxes, I'm not sure if this will make you despair or not... re soft play, DD2 is 4 now and in the last 6 months or so I have been able to sit with a cup of tea but do need to go in every so often with her. Even when they need frequent entertaining in there I at least find it tires them out so there is hope of a more relaxing time at home.

OP posts:
TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 02/03/2017 18:46

Ta da:-
Nothing in house as been out at work

To do:-
World book day costume
Paperwork for school and preschool
DD1 reading
Bath and bedtime
Evening routine
Before bed routine
Interview prep.

DH away tonight so had best get on!

foxessocks · 02/03/2017 18:54

Sorry I've totally got behind on the thread! Busy few days and a sleepless night! Haven't done much other than daily routine today but I don't have a dining room anyway! Just a dining table which is clutter free at the moment. I did do decluttering in the porch yesterday though so I've done a bit! Feeling a bit unmotivated this week tbh.

Hope everyone ok !

foxessocks · 02/03/2017 18:57

toostressy that's a bit reassuring I guess...Maybe she will get gradually more confident now!

Cagliostro · 02/03/2017 19:17

Best of luck Stressy! I think you meant Cotswold earlier as I didn't volunteer Blush in my defence I am tutoring and then running an event tomorrow so will not be home most of the day.

Panic tidy went ok today, place looks vaguely presentable (by my very low standards anyway) but more stash and dashing took place!

Must spend the evening prepping the last few bits for the event.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 02/03/2017 19:19

Lol sorry Cag and Cotswold. Not doing very well at March so far! Will do better from now Smile

OP posts:
BluePheasant · 02/03/2017 21:09

Yes toy decluttering is one thing I'm good at! Our friends always say they don't get how the house isn't covered in toys when they come round but tbf to them they have two boys age 2 and 6 and we only have one DD! Secret is every 6 months or so I have a clear out, anything she's grown out of gets packed in storage boxes and put in the loft (keeping for next DC fingers crossed!), and everything that stays has a place. Downstairs I've got a toy chest and two big fabric basket things I got from next last year and they go with the room colours and don't look "kiddie". Then a couple of baskets under coffee table for all the small random bits and bobs to be chucked in. In her room we've got Ikea Trofast unit so can have a tub for Lego, playdoh, animal, art etc. Another big basket for all the teddies. Keeps it all organised and also she knows where her things are too, so I don't get the constant "muuuummmy?" anymore Grin doesn't take long to tidy it all up as it's just a case of chucking things in the right place. When it starts to get out of control again I just have another round of "disappearing" things Grin

Porch mission failed miserably today as DH not feeling well and gone to bed early and no way am I doing alone as I'm shattered too! Will have to wait until Saturday I think. It won't take long between us I hope!

Ta das

Morning and evening routine done.
Two loads of washing out on the airer.
Ironing.

To dos

Make a start on online food shop for next week and bit of meal planning as freezer getting a bit sparse!
Ignore growing Kettle Pile as let's face it I can't be bothered this week!
Sort clothes for morning.
Early to bed as knackered!

Good luck tomorrow Stressy fingers crossed for you!

Hope your event goes well tomorrow too Cag

Hope you hear about school soon zoo it's so horrible waiting. Am starting to get nervous about DD's primary school place, all three choices are good enough schools but we really did like our nearest one (luckily!) so fingers crossed!

PurpleDaisies · 02/03/2017 21:39

Today I've crocheted for about six hours and my hands are aching. My right hand is a claw! I've just got two rows and a few elephants to go-I'm aiming to post by Monday. Apart from that I've done very little except run the dishwasher and make dinner. We finally had our pancakes.

Good luck stressy. zoo do you have any fingernails left waiting to hear about schools. cag hope the event goes well.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 02/03/2017 22:25

Thanks all. Blue, I will try to follow your toy decluttering lead Smile. Amazing crocheting effort Purple.

Well I have done very little interview prep but am going to post links and go to bed now. Big wing flaps to all Smile.

I Here is the daily summary for Thursday...

All information also available on the Flylady website www.flylady.net. The

flight plan
should update every day.

We are in Zone 1 this week: the entrance, front porch and dining room

Spend 15 mins (or as much as you can manage if you can't do 15) decluttering in Zone 1.

When you have finished decluttering, (I am jealous!) the detailed cleaning list for Zone 1 is here

The mission for the day is:-
We are going to work in the dining room today. Take 15 minutes and work some more on your de-cluttering. Toss anything that can be tossed and put away anything that can be put away. We are working towards the dining room being a dining room and not a storage and pile up area. Keep reminding yourself that you are going to change your home 15 minutes at a time.

The daily focus for Thursday is: errand day

Daily reminders reminders (radio show times are probably not accurate for UK but can listen to previous shows/podcasts)

Baby step number 2 (if you are starting out or want to revisit them) get dressed as soon as you get up

I don't get dressed to shoes each day but do find that getting dressed early has been one of the most life-improving things about following Flylady!

March habit is getting dressed to shoes - a controversial one here. I find getting dressed early so important but don't wear shoes in the house www.flylady.net/d/habits-of-the-month/march/

Flykids mission:www.flylady.net/c/flykids.php?tzm=0
Have Fun!!

Happy flying.

I totally agree. It's one of the best habits of the month.

CotswoldStrife · 03/03/2017 08:16

Good luck with the interview today Stressy, I am keeping an eye on the thread any excuse not to clean up Grin

It's Friday! I'll stock the naughty corner, I have taken up residence there this week ...

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 03/03/2017 08:43

Morning all, thanks Cotswold, glad to give you an excuse Grin. Thanks for all good luck wishes. Have not done enough prep as DH away so didn't get a chance last night once I'd done everything (where does the time go?!) and this morning had to get DD1 ready for world book day (her school did it late) which of course meant DD2 also wanted to wear face paint etc. House is somehow a mess so have said to DDs that we must tidy when we get in if I don't manage to get there first.

It won't be the end of the world if I don't get it, it's just for extra work. (I can't leave my current organisation as am contractually tied to them until next spring - am allowed to do additional work though and it's really common in my field). Still nervous though and feel really under prepared. Oh well, fingers crossed.

Ta da:-
DDs at childminder
Decided to get bus so will get there a bit later but can read thru material rather than sitting driving in traffic.
Will update later!

Any news zoo re school?

So much for getting dressed early...I'm still in my pjs! I have finished my blanket apart from a bit of tidying up and sewing some appliqués on. It's really lovely-probably the neatest I've ever done and I'm sure my friend will like it.

It's a fairly busy day today, starting with a hobbycraft trip which is always a good thing.

Ta da's
Finished blanket
Dishwasher on

To dos
Hobbycraft trip
