Fledglings marching into spring - the Flylady thread

Hello all and welcome to the March Flylady thread! Welcome to all current posters and also to any returners plus of course anyone who would like to join. The more the merrier. Jump in where you are.

We are a friendly group who (sort of) follow the Flylady system in hopes of a more organised home and life. Some of us manage that better than others :).

Since last month seemed to be ok I'll follow the same format of personals throughout the day (or in the evening if I haven't had a chance in the day) and links in the evening. Please, though, let me know if you want me to change anything or if I have posted anything wrong.

It's my first time running this thread so here we go with links... Please if anything is wrong feel free to correct me. Hopefully it will all go swimmingly this month but I apologise in advance for anything not slick! I'm starting a day early as have work tomorrow and I am slow at this but will try to stay on the old thread until tomorrow. Thanks again SC and Cotswold as I have basically copied your notes again.

Flylady advises decluttering for 15 mins a day. I tend to manage 5 but I know lots of people have great results with 15.

For a summary of what's going on, go to www.flylady.net/c/lp.php or just follow this thread

Newbies, welcome, have a look around the Flylady website www.flylady.net - it can sometimes be a bit disorganised. Unless you want to, beware of signing up for her emails - there are hundreds and all the info is on the website anyway. Here is the getting started link www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

You can post what we you done (ta das) and any to do lists if you want to- I definitely find this helpful.

cag hope it all goes well I'm sure it will be fine , I don't like staying at people's houses either!

Mermaid sorry about the chickenpox we haven't had that joy yet in our household. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery.

Ta das
Daily routine done
Hoovered downstairs
Bathroom swish and swipe
Decluttered a bit in living room but really need to do some proper sorting tomorrow
Bag of toys sorted for charity shop

Have just done dinner, bath and bed for both children on my own as dh still not home. This would ordinarily be no big deal but the baby did two huge poos and he is extremely wiggly in the bath at the moment ( I didn't realise how wiggly as dh usually does bathtime or I wouldn't have attempted it!) and he slipped about so much I had to take him out quite quickly and then he cried and cried Sad. DD also upset because she wants a story from daddy. Says she is going to stay awake so he can read one! i said fine as long as you're in your bed and I can go downstairs and eat my dinner and drink wine

What a day!!!

mermaidsandunicorns · 27/03/2017 20:17

How old are your dc foxes
I remember mine used to be so slippery in the bath

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 27/03/2017 21:17

Hi all, will catch up with thread in a bit, just going to do links now.

*
Here is the daily summary for Tuesday (also available on the Flyladywebsite at flight plan which should update automatically each day.

The daily focus for Tuesday is: planning

reminders

Baby-step no 28 - take care of yourself Dependent on your circumstances this may seem either realistic or completely unrealistic. Flylady does talk about finding 15 minutes to sit with a hot drink which is a worthwhile aim.

We are in Zone 5 for the start of this week: the living room

Spend 15 mins (or whatever you can manage) decluttering in Zone 5.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 5 is here
Mission:

Dear Friends,

Back to the Living Room we go! One of my favorite missions for the living room is to go sofa and chair diving! This is where we start digging through the furniture and pluck out the cheerios and old socks! I am always amazed at how much stuff I can pull out of the couch in just one short month! I think the couch is kind of like the clothes dryer, it seems to keep things!

Have fun, this should not take longer than 5 minutes!

March habit is getting dressed to shoes www.flylady.net/d/habits-of-the-month/march/

Flykids mission: www.flylady.net/c/flykids.php?tzm=0

Happy flying.

mermaids I have a dd who is 3 and the baby is nearly 7 months. Ds loves the bath but just wants to grab at everything and throw himself backwards so he just slips out of my hands. I think dh finds it easier because he can reach into the bath better and has much bigger hands too!

Stilllivinginazoo · 27/03/2017 21:32

mermaids I didn't mean to sound condescending.another hope for Speddy recovery

foxes dd2 was a slippery lil sucker in the bath.used scare me silly I was go drop her, many a bath end in tears as I got her out n she wasn't impressed at get out so quickly

Hope cag doing OK and her friends

toostressy hope your days gone OK

Taking care of me is not one of my specialities....

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 27/03/2017 21:50

mermaids, how unlucky for your DCs to get it twice. Hope they are not feeling too unwell and it is not too difficult childcare-wise.

foxes, fingers crossed for better day tomorrow. At least you can say you tried the shopping and it didn't work so that's something off your to do list???!

Cag, good luck tomorrow. zoo, 4am start? Wow! Definite excuse to flag by lunch. dani, absolutely yes, rest while you can Smile.

Wing flaps to Afresh. Hello to everyone else!

Just checking in quickly, non stop today!

Big congratulations Cag how exciting!!Flowers

I needed to take advantage of fine weather and DD being at pre school this morning so have basically spent all day doing as much washing as physically possible and pruning the garden. I've filled four big garden bags and there's still a lot to do but at least I have made a dent in it! My back is killing me!

Really want to go to bed but been making DDs Easter bonnet (last minute panic!) as they are doing Easter parade at preschool tomorrow. Got her to paint some cut out egg boxes to make into daffodils so at least she participated Grin Just need the sodding glue to dry so I can attatch them to the hat and then I'm collapsing into bed! I'm annoyed as I didn't check her folder on Friday and we were away all weekend and so only realised about it this morning. DH of course equally capable of checking her folder but if I don't then it's forgotten about Hmm in quite a huff about it tbh as gets v wearing having to remember everything!

Have a feeling flying is going out the window this week already!

Will catch up on thread properly later Brew

mermaidsandunicorns · 27/03/2017 22:10

No worries zoo I understood what you meant xxx

danigrace · 27/03/2017 22:17

Sorry to hear about the chicken pox Mermaid.
Zoo our baby's due 26 July Smile

Ta dahs:

  • 15 min decluttering in living room which evolved into 30 min of moving furniture with DP that we've been meaning to do for a while, glad it's done
  • living room hoovered
  • work kind of done (not enough)
  • dinner made
  • dishes washed/dried/away
  • kitchen cleaned
  • antenatal class
  • ready for bed!
Sweepingchange · 28/03/2017 07:34

Hi all, back again for a few days before going off for Easter hols, and trying to catch up with thread.

Cag many, many congratulations on your pregnancy! Smile Flowers (and ginger ale and crackers). Hope your charges behave themselves!

Toostressy can do links tonight and tomorrow (Tues & Wed) if you fancy a break!

Mermaid what a bummer about chicken pox, your poor DC (and poor you!). They vaccinate for it over here so we've never had to deal with it but I remember my sister getting it badly as a child and being really miserable.

Zooglad to hear remaining cat doing well! (Sorry, can't scroll down on this tablet thing to look up name!!)

Bluepheasant ah you are making me feel nostalgic now for Easter crafts - your (dd's) bonnet sounds lovely - although one perhaps looks back on these things with more fondness than was actually felt at the time when actually making the wretched things!! Smile

YY to hating staying in other people's houses and after decades of hosting (one of the downsides of expat life) I've begun to really hate that too. I'm horrible!!

Muscles aching rather a lot after a very physically active weekend in lovely sunny weather. Thought I had knackered my back again last night but it is just about ok which is good because I four days in which to kick this house in to shape!

First stop: meal planning and budgeting (the latter shd be interesting because we have no spare money at all ATM, as everything is being ploughed in to renovations) so will have to think creatively!

After that, laundry and supermarket run.

Cheery wing flaps to all!

danigrace · 28/03/2017 08:36

Enjoy your Easter hols Sweeping!

Pheasant how did the bonnet making go? Sounds like you did a lovely one!

Ta dahs:

  • swish & swiped bathroom
  • clothes/towels folded and put away
  • tidied downstairs
  • bins out
  • 15 min declutter in living room
  • now back in bed for an hour with a fruit tea before the hectic work day gets going! Grin
TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 28/03/2017 10:03

Hi all, will be on later but yes please SC for links tonight and tomorrow. Have a long work day tomorrow so that would be great.

Morning ladies! Just sat waiting for the Easter parade to start, I got the time wrong and was half early, but better than late I suppose! DD has gone in to play so will prob trash the nice dress I put her in! She doesn't usually go to preschool on Tuesdays so thought she could wear something decent for a change instead of usual nursery clobber, regretting that decision ha!
Bonnet turned out well, luckily I had one of those hats that hobby craft do for Easter that didn't get used last year. Have put daffodils all the way round, ribbons on the back and filled in gaps with shredded tissue paper. She helped with some painting and glueing so at least we can say joint effort even though was mostly me late at night!
I do usually enjoy doing things like this with her but not so keen when it's last minute and I'm shattered! She is happy though and that's the main thing Smile

Sweepingchange · 28/03/2017 10:42

No probs Toostressy Smile

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 28/03/2017 12:06

Hello all,

Horrible morning here with DD2 having a screaming fit and has taken herself off to bed to go to sleep Shock. So I am trying to get on with things now. So sick of toilet training and suspect we are in it for a while yet.

On the plus side...

Ta da:
Aldi shop
Exercise DVD
Dishwasher cleaned
Morning routine done of a fashion

To do:
Tidy away bits of Aldi shop
If possible quick house tidy
More laundry
If possible 5 min declutter in DD2's room
Make chilli
DD2 lunch
Deal with upset DD2 when she wakes up
Get all of this done before school run

Pheasant, glad bonnet went well. SC, YY, I definitely think there is a lot of looking through rose tinted glasses that happens with craft things Wink.

Must get on!

foxessocks · 28/03/2017 15:04

Hi all! My living room looks like an explosion at the toy factory. I have got a plan to sort out the toys and books down here but need to drink my tea first.

Ta da
Daily routine

To do
Declutter in living room (reorganise toys,!)
Check down sofas
Cook dinner
Ironing

foxessocks · 28/03/2017 16:13

Ta das
Checked down sofas (found two plastic coins and a small plastic panther...)
Sorted out toy shelves in living room, toys have gone upstairs to children's bedrooms and the shelves are now for books, puzzles and board games so it looks much neater! Washed the shelves down too as they were very dusty.

Still looks quite messy in the living room but at least I've got something sorted!

Afreshstartplease · 28/03/2017 16:29

Well done foxes!

Hello all, just having a cup of tea and psyching myself up to do showers and bedtime.

Ta da:-
Chilli made - DD2 wolfed it down for lunch
2 lots of chilli now in freezer plus one lot ready for mine and DH's tea later Star
5 mins decluttering done in DD2's room. It is looking much better (must confess I tend to ignore what zone we are in a lot of the time - made loads of progress in her room last week so sticking in there for a bit longer)
Went to soft play after school so hopefully both DDs sufficiently tired at bedtime.

Ta duh:-
DD2 will not poo on toilet. Aaaaaaaagggh.

To do:-
Showers and bedtime
Evening routine
Before bed routine - must do this properly as early start tomorrow
