Hello all and welcome to the March Flylady thread! Welcome to all current posters and also to any returners plus of course anyone who would like to join. The more the merrier. Jump in where you are.

We are a friendly group who (sort of) follow the Flylady system in hopes of a more organised home and life. Some of us manage that better than others :).

Since last month seemed to be ok I'll follow the same format of personals throughout the day (or in the evening if I haven't had a chance in the day) and links in the evening. Please, though, let me know if you want me to change anything or if I have posted anything wrong.

It's my first time running this thread so here we go with links... Please if anything is wrong feel free to correct me. Hopefully it will all go swimmingly this month but I apologise in advance for anything not slick! I'm starting a day early as have work tomorrow and I am slow at this but will try to stay on the old thread until tomorrow. Thanks again SC and Cotswold as I have basically copied your notes again.

Flylady advises decluttering for 15 mins a day. I tend to manage 5 but I know lots of people have great results with 15.

For a summary of what's going on, go to www.flylady.net/c/lp.php or just follow this thread

Newbies, welcome, have a look around the Flylady website www.flylady.net - it can sometimes be a bit disorganised. Unless you want to, beware of signing up for her emails - there are hundreds and all the info is on the website anyway. Here is the getting started link www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

You can post what we you done (ta das) and any to do lists if you want to- I definitely find this helpful.

OK the following list comes with a disclaimer/warning that I woke up feeling full of energy at 4am and so started choring then and went right through day without stopping (except for 30 min working lunch with dh). This goes against all Flylady principles and I shall probably be comatose tomorrow.

Ta da:

-emptied and cleaned fridge
--mounted expedition to empty bins and collect up plastic and cardboard recycling from all corners of house
-bagged up rubbish and recycling
-emptied and filled dw
-ironed uniform and sports kit
-polished dd jodphur boots and school shoes
-spent 40 mins tidying dd's room and putting away washed and ironed clothes and bed linen
-carried various things which were upstairs, downstairs!
-carried various things which were downstairs, upstairs!

  • collected up all dirty laundry from all corners of house (including weekend bags Angry )and carried downstairs
  • triaged laundry
-prepped low temp white wash -did white wash and hung up -washed and dried towels -washed and dried second set uniform
  • tidied and gave bathroom extra thorough s&s
-scrubbed kitchen to within an inch of its life -tried to make gynae appt - first available slot 8 June Shock - sent her message instead -made doc appt -sent out Easter holiday arrangement e-mails -removed um, excreta, from furry one's nethers [nice!] Envy < that's revulsion not envy btw - he got his timing wrong during a crucial moment of "elimination" process while backing in to a bush Confused out on our walk this morning
  • cleared dining room table hot spot 1
  • cleared dining room table hot spot 2
  • made cheering forthysia arrangement
-unpacked on-line shopping order
  • spoke to dh about renovations and budgeting over lunch
  • made vegetable soup
-made apple pie
  • collected dd in car from school as she had sports day and was "dying" apparently Smile but was triumphant as she had come top in badminton competition - yay!
  • hwk supervision
  • drum roll ....wait for it ... TIDIED BOUDOIR!!!!!! Yay!! [insufferably smug emoticon]
-picked up car from service and paid bill (it needed new back window as it was letting water in)
  • cleaned out rabbit room thoroughly

Cream crackered now!

Links in a mo!

Anyway ...

Glad you survived Cag! Bloody well done!

Toostressy even with just one child, I remembered the utter exhaustion (when dd was little) after long day and thinking "oh no, have bedtime routine ahead". For this you need Cake and/or Gin.

Foxes/Afreshstart I suppose it's not terribly helpful at this stage to say relish the toys all over the sitting room while it lasts - because that stage is so fleeting - [sniff] [blows hooter noisily on corner of handkerchief] but I know it is a pita having to constantly deal with toy explosions at the time which reappear just as you have tidied them up!! And, looking back, I suppose it's true that I don't particularly miss standing on a plastic horse in bare feet at 4am Grin

Your lists look v organised BluePheasant love the sound of the finished bonnet! Hope your dd had a good time and wore it with pride!

Ndo4000 we all have dreadful Flying crashes so do not despair or be hard on yourself - sometimes there are simply not enough hours in the day - and as wise Zoo says if everyone is fed, wearing vaguely clean clothes and no one is dead then consider that a win! And congrats on putting laundry away - as Flylady says in upcoming links - whatever you do today is better than it was before (if that doesn't sound too cheer-leader-ish!!) Flowers

Waves to Dani Honu Cotswold Blue Castle Mermaids and lots of others I have missed!

After my mega-chore day, dh said he would kindly cook supper (sausages, pots, broccoli so nowt too taxing) which was v much appreciated but let's just say I now have to stir my stumps and go and clean up the kitchen ... gah!!!

Sweepingchange · 28/03/2017 19:53

Hi, links herewith on behalf of Toostressy:

*

Here is the daily summary for Wednesday (also available on the flight plan which should update automatically each day ).

The daily focus for Wednesday is: anti-procrastination ie time to get out the pokey stick!

reminders here which should also update automatically!.

Baby-step no 29 - here!. Seeking out the weekly pamper mission and remembering that anything we do today (however small!) is better than it used to be!

We are in Zone 5 this week until the end of the month: the living room.

Spend 15 mins (or whatever you can manage) decluttering in Zone 5.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 5 is here.

Wednesday's mission is: here. Take 10 mins in your sitting room and sort through any hot spots and chuck: ie any piles of stuff just sitting there!

March habit is getting dressed to shoes www.flylady.net/d/habits-of-the-month/march/

Flykids mission: www.flylady.net/c/flykids.php?tzm=0

Happy flying one and all! And enjoy the sunshine while it lasts!

Only thing left to do tonight (after tidying kitchen [anger]) is to hang up last of washing and work out how the *rap I am going to work the ££££££££ I had to pay for car repair and MOT today (needed new back window as it was letting water in) in to new very tight budgets .... this may take some time! I am utterly crap at maths/accounting which doesn't help.

Then a bit of Supervet and then bed! G'night all!

Sweepingchange · 28/03/2017 19:59

Sorry for essay(s)!!

Afreshstartplease · 28/03/2017 20:25

I have had toys all over my living room for 9 years....I've never in those 9 years not had atleast one child under 4 years old....and my youngest now is only 5 months old, so there are still years to go!

ARGH

Dd did eventually pull her finger out and help me get it tidyish in the living room. That was good. However at bedtime discovered she had trashed her bedroom Shock

mermaidsandunicorns · 28/03/2017 20:31

Flipping eck SC!!!

foxessocks · 28/03/2017 20:47

Wow that's some list SC. I don't mind toys in the living room really , but they just build up and up until all the toys are downstairs and none are upstairs at all!

I've just been to my first ever parents evening, dd is only 3 but it was lovely to see what she has been up to at nursery school. I feel very proud!

Cup of tea and chocolate time now. Oh and I did manage a tiny bit of ironing and sorted all the socks!

Sweepingchange · 28/03/2017 20:54

Oh sorry Afreshstart Blush can see how nine yrs of plastic toys + prospect of more might get a bit much! With an "only" I suppose every stage comes so quickly but also passes so quickly and you want to hang on to it for a bit longer but it's gone ... .

Have knadgered myself though Mermaids Grin

danigrace · 28/03/2017 20:56

Wow well done all! Not much else done in the way of housekeeping since this mornings ta das but managed a work presentation in a sleep deprived state and the client ended up buying more than they had initially planned so either I wasn't appearing as zombified as I thought or she felt sorry for the bumbling pregnant lady!!

Just got back from aquanatal class and debationg whether to get another hours work in or browse baby stuff online with a cup of tea...

Sweepingchange · 28/03/2017 21:00

Oh yes Foxes can totally sympathise with upstairs/downstairs toy and everything else creep

Aw at first parent evening Smile

Sweepingchange · 28/03/2017 21:02

Xpost Take it steady Dani

Sweepingchange · 28/03/2017 21:03

And congrats on sale!!

mermaidsandunicorns · 28/03/2017 21:12

Well ds2's spots have turned out to be something of a mystery. He hasn't had any more come out and none of them have blistered so I think it maybe a virus as he's been really under the weather and did have a temp when I took him to doctors yesterday.
Ds1's spots disappeared overnight so he went to school today.
Ds2 is going back to school tomorrow as he's driving me potty

Managed to hoover and tidy upstairs today
Payday so sorted bills
might've ordered takeaway

BluePheasant · 28/03/2017 22:05

Tidied DDs room.
Wiped bathroom (needs a proper clean really Blush)

Wow SC that is an epic list!
Cars are such money pits aren't they! Checked our acc earlier as my payday today and it was disappointing! Realised the car insurance has come out, hmph! Keep saying we will put some more in our savings this month and it never happens!

Glad the DC turned out to be pox free mermaids

We are all really tired here, can so feel it's end of term. DH is a zombie (teacher). DD is shattered and getting her up for nursery is becoming a mission. Looking forward to a week off next week, we all need to recharge!

Think I will need it too.

Bloomin' heck ... is it too early for gin? Sometimes this parenting lark is hard. Just spent 25 mins explaining to dd that she has to go to school. She has bad period pain and is hurting all over from sports day yesterday where they frankly did ridiculous amount of activity for one day and it transpires ... she hasn't done her hwk either. She kept sobbing and saying "I can't" "I can't" and dh got really cross and stressed, and I tried to say "you can" "you can" and explained to her that this is good practice for when she has a job, is feeling crap, isn't properly prepared and yet people are depending on her to go in anyway. (It's only a half day - dh is going to run her there and collect her afterwards - so basically she has to sit at desk and face consequences of not doing hwk.) So they have gone off (about an hour late) and I feel horrible Sad now that I have done the wrong thing as she was really distressed. It's just that she has a bit of form for exaggeration/being-overdramatic (that really comes from lack of self confidence I think) and has had a quite a few days off here and there when she has swung the lead a bit - on the other hand, until recently she was recovering from mononucleosis type of virus - but now I am doubting myself ... oh dear ... Sad... but kind of wanted her to prove to herself that she could do it ifyswim while all of the time part of me wanted to let her off ... I dunno ...

Sorry for bleat. Going to take my angst out on the laundry ... .
