Fledglings flapping and flying in February - the Flylady thread

Hello all and welcome to the February Flylady thread! Welcome to all current posters and also to any returners plus of course anyone who would like to join. The more the merrier.

We are a friendly group who (sort of) follow the Flylady system in hopes of a more organised home and life. Some of us manage that better than others Smile.

It's my first time running this thread so here we go with links... Please if anything is wrong feel free to correct me. Hopefully it will all go swimmingly this month but I apologise in advance for anything not slick! I'm starting a day early as have work tomorrow and I am slow at this but will try to stay on the old thread until tomorrow. Thanks so much for doing the December and January threads Cotsowold.

We are in zone 5 for the first few days of the month.

Flylady advises decluttering for 15 mins a day. I tend to manage 5 but I know lots of people have great results with 15.

I can't figure out how to post the individual missions (I will get better, I hope!) so as a treat here is the sneak peak for the rest of the week which has all the missions www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions

Feb 1st's mission is to clean our vents!!

If you have already decluttered then you could start some detailed cleaning www.flylady.net/d/zones/detailed-cleaning-zone-5/

For a summary of what's going on, go to www.flylady.net/c/lp.php or just follow this thread Smile. Sometimes the Flylady website takes a little while to catch up on a new month.

Newbies, welcome, have a look around the Flylady website - it can sometimes be a bit disorganised. Unless you want to, beware of signing up for her emails - there are hundreds and all the info is on the website anyway. Here is the getting started link [[http://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

I'll post the baby step and Wednesday's daily focus next.

Urgh I hate world book day it gets me every year

foxessocks · 25/02/2017 11:34

toostressy they've already taken my money so I can't afford to go somewhere else , I'm guessing I'd have to wait a few days for my money back and by that time I might possibly be close to getting my glasses back anyway!! That is the other thing I'm cross about that they've taken my money so quickly!

Anyway enough of my moaning! Cag that's excellent how long you've been doing home ed, well done!

Ta das

Hoovered
Steam cleaned downstairs bathroom
Managed to return printer and get a replacement

Raining here now roll on spring

PurpleDaisies · 25/02/2017 17:37

I've been to Pilates for the first time in ages (I can already feel the ache coming on). I've discovered a new cafe so dh have been out for a great lunch with cake, probably more than cancelling out any good I did at the gym! We've made a big list of things that need sorting and have done a few. Going to try and have a power hour before giving up, then having tea with a film.

Ta da's
Light bulbs bought and changed
Gym
Dishwasher and washing
Lots of email admin
Finished current piece of crochet

To dos
Empty bins
More dbs stuff
More finance admin
Move an old cupboard out
Sort a recipe for a friend

foxessocks · 25/02/2017 18:36

Sounds like a great day purple! I must get back to some pilates and yoga next week. I didn't do any because of being poorly but I can't use that excuse anymore. Back to it on Monday I think!

Ta das
Dh hung the washing up but lots of black marks on it so have had to clean out washing machine and run it empty then rewash it all, so annoying as despite me doing seemingly constant washing we are still running out of my bras and baby vests!!
Did some photo album stuff
Daily routine finished and cleaned the bathroom
DD fed and in the bath
Decluttered hand bag

Still not done bathroom floor or any ironing. We've got pizza for dinner and I might have a gin and tonic. Got chocolates too. Naughty corner fully stocked!!

FoolandFitz · 25/02/2017 18:54

I hate dress up days at school and would rather choose not dress up but staff are expected to do it. The boys come as super heroes and the girls in princess dresses. Doesn't matter what kind of dress up day it is. Grin

cag sorry to hear you are not well
afresh how many brews did you have in the end?
toostressy hope your DD enjoyed her party and day
waves to everyone else

Ta-da
Woollen wash
Lunch and dinner cooked
Shined taps in bathroom
Swept kitchen floor

House is still looking neat, tidy and clean.

Afreshstartplease · 25/02/2017 18:58

I have so far consumed

6 cups of tea
1 hot chocolate
2 pints of juice

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 25/02/2017 21:33

Party finished. DD2 (and DD1) had a great time thanks. I am shattered though and there is stuff everywhere. Just got the girls into bed now. One set of parents gone - DH's parents who left while we had just found out we had missed some presents being opened so I have no idea who gave it. So I looked like a stressed grumpy person Sad.

Not even going to attempt before bed routine. I am so tired. DH putting rubbish out. I'll go and out dishwasher on. Need to sort laundry as it is wet in the washer.

Sorry just can't do long personals tonight. Hello to SC, Cotswold, zoo, Purple, foxes, Afresh, Cag, mermaids, Fooland, Mercury.

Far too little flying today, still battling the coughs and cold a bit. Always tomorrow but will most likely need a good few jabs with the pointy stick of motivation to make me work properly! House is awful!

Afreshstartplease · 26/02/2017 08:56

Morning all

-----> for Cotswold

Ta Da

One load dry and sent up
Dryer reloaded
Washer on
DC all fed and dressed
2 brew drank

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 26/02/2017 09:16

Morning all. House in chaos. My parents still here and need entertaining so we are off out this morning. Clothes and presents everywhere. Trying to keep my temper as DC loving the party weekend and DD2 lucky to get some lovely presents. .

OP posts:
foxessocks · 26/02/2017 10:06

toostressy that was me last weekend - it will be ok!! I got it all sorted a few days later and got extra storage for the new toys , house now looking back to normal apart from dds room which still needs a bit of a sort out. Enjoy the rest of the birthday weekend!

foxessocks · 26/02/2017 12:39

Ta das
Dh taken a load of stuff to the tip - this has been on our to do list since before Christmas!!
Been to the shop for a few bits needed
Hoovered downstairs
Dishwasher on and kitchen wiped / rubbish taken out
Washing folded
Toys tidied away

To do
Rest of daily routine
Mop bathroom floor
More photos
Ironing
Wrap birthday present for later
Declutter purse

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 26/02/2017 13:13

Thanks foxes. They have just left and we are heading home now. Hoping the girls will play with the presents this afternoon while we tidy some stuff up.

I did not stop yesterday and then realised I had annoyed both sets of parents by not taking time to sit down and chat to them Angry. You really can't win with birthday parties sometimes!! I find myself dreading visits from parents sometimes which is such a shame but I don't know how to change it Sad. Anyway...

Ta da:-
Dishwasher on
DDs happy as DD1 spent her saved pennies in smiggle and DD2 got a little bag and has lots of presents to look at
Laundry in manageable piles
Party in general seems to have been a great success although some complaints about the lack of cups of tea (despite the fact we had water and food for adults plus plenty of food for kids) Hmm. Venue not suitable for hot drinks so I really couldn't have done anything about that.

To do:-
Crisis clean (Flylady's term for what to do when the house is in chaos)
Laundry
Get stuff ready for tomorrow
Put away some presents so they don't all get destroyed
Calendar check
Figure out what to do for tea.
Hope the motivation stick worked Cotswold Smile. I might need it later!

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 26/02/2017 13:42

My entire life is crisis cleaning Blush :o

Hmmm Stressy that sounds somewhat selfish of your parents/PIL - yes of course it's always nice to have a chat but the day was about the birthday girl, not them!

Quiet day for me so far, I've got a wash ready to go and DH has just taken the Caglets on a nature walk, as we did some project work this morning. More to do when they get back though, this week is crazy and loads needs finishing.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 26/02/2017 19:30

Thanks Cag, I did think it was a bit off but I think next time I will just have to make an effort to ignore the mess and sit for the odd 5 mins.

Does anyone else find visits from relatives stressful? I love having friends round but relatives seems to involve mess and stress! Then I feel guilty that I am not enjoying it.

Afresh, good use of the pointy stick this month Smile.

Wing flaps to all :)

Ta da:-
House massively improved
Dishwasher on
One load of laundry washed
Presents mostly stacked away for now
DD2 asleep, DD1 in bed

I feel much better as party stuff generally contained in bags and boxes now and hopefully will encourage us to have a sort out. The will is there but having the time is another thing.

To do:-
Finish evening routine
Before bed routine - lots of stuff to get ready for tomorrow
More laundry - just realised I need to wash something for tomorro
Our tea - we were going to get takeaway but unsure now. Need to nibble on something at least.
Need to sift through some paperwork and look at the calendar
Collapse!

OP posts:
Afreshstartplease · 26/02/2017 20:48

I don't like having anyone over

Is that sad?

This house is FULL of people as it bloody is I really don't need any extra mess or stuff

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 26/02/2017 20:53

I think lots of people feel like you Afresh. I usually love having people over but for some reason parents and in-laws really get to me!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 26/02/2017 21:17

Here is the daily summary for Monday...

All information also available on the Flylady website www.flylady.net. The

flight plan
should update every day.

We are in Zone 5 this week: the living room

Spend 15 mins (or what you can manage) decluttering in zone 5.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 5 is here

The mission for today is: This week, we are in Zone 5, the Living Room/Family Room for two days.
Today, I want you to spend 15 minutes getting rid of anything that does not belong in your living room. Things that have gotten thrown in a corner, on a chair, or even the floor. The things that you almost don't even see because they have just become part of the room, get it out! If it does not belong there then out it goes!

This does not mean that you have to spend three hours in your living room, do what you can do for 15 minutes.

The daily focus for Monday is: weekly home blessing hour

Flylady herself says do the home bleugh (what we call the home blessing - makes it more bearable!) when it suits you best. Personally I occupy the DC while DH does it at the end of the week or at the weekend.

The monthly habit for February is to declutter for 15 mins a day which is a brilliant habit!

Daily reminders:
reminders sorry guys just realised I should have been changing the link for this each day.

Baby-step no 26 - jump in where you are

Flykids challenge: Today I want you to open up the doors of your closet and check to see if you have any clothes that have fallen off of the hangers and have become jumbled up on the floor of the closet.
Set a timer or ask a grown up to set a timer for 5 minutes and see how much you can hang back up. If you can't reach the rod to hang these things back up, ask a grown up to give you some hangers, you then hang the clothes on the hangers, then ask them to help you hang them up. If you need to set the timer again, then do so for another 5 minutes. If you find some things that no longer fit or you do not use, put those in a bag and give them to a grown up to bless someone else with.

Remember less stuff to clean and put away means more time to play.

Have fun!

Happy flying.
