Fledglings flapping and flying in February - the Flylady thread

Hello all and welcome to the February Flylady thread! Welcome to all current posters and also to any returners plus of course anyone who would like to join. The more the merrier.

We are a friendly group who (sort of) follow the Flylady system in hopes of a more organised home and life. Some of us manage that better than others Smile.

It's my first time running this thread so here we go with links... Please if anything is wrong feel free to correct me. Hopefully it will all go swimmingly this month but I apologise in advance for anything not slick! I'm starting a day early as have work tomorrow and I am slow at this but will try to stay on the old thread until tomorrow. Thanks so much for doing the December and January threads Cotsowold.

We are in zone 5 for the first few days of the month.

Flylady advises decluttering for 15 mins a day. I tend to manage 5 but I know lots of people have great results with 15.

I can't figure out how to post the individual missions (I will get better, I hope!) so as a treat here is the sneak peak for the rest of the week which has all the missions www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions

Feb 1st's mission is to clean our vents!!

If you have already decluttered then you could start some detailed cleaning www.flylady.net/d/zones/detailed-cleaning-zone-5/

For a summary of what's going on, go to www.flylady.net/c/lp.php or just follow this thread Smile. Sometimes the Flylady website takes a little while to catch up on a new month.

Newbies, welcome, have a look around the Flylady website - it can sometimes be a bit disorganised. Unless you want to, beware of signing up for her emails - there are hundreds and all the info is on the website anyway. Here is the getting started link [[http://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

I'll post the baby step and Wednesday's daily focus next.

Haha afresh my ds does the same , turns onto his side then gives up! DD crawled at about 8 months I think...But was rolling over at 4 months! She was a tiny little thing though so probably easier for her. DS has more chub to move!

Well he just screamed all the way home from nursery Sad now to try put him down so I can make lunch.

Afreshstartplease · 24/02/2017 12:15

Ta Da So Far

All up dressed fed and out for 840
One load washed dry and away
Pots washed
Bottles washed and sterilised
Recycling out
Two worktops clear and clean

Cagliostro · 24/02/2017 12:17

Nice quiet morning here, although not enjoying the sore throat. I had to give up on the idea of a cinema trip - a few families were going to see the batman lego movie - but a lovely friend picked the Caglets up en route :) DH did a snotty wife supplies shopping dash to Co-op so I'm sorted for the day, including microwave dinner as he's off to work in a bit. Also managed a bit of decluttering as DH was looking for something so I helped make decisions on a load of old papers/books while lying in bed, big pile shoved in the recycling bin.

PurpleDaisies · 24/02/2017 12:20

I've mainly been form filling this morning and I'm off out this afternoon. I think I might instigate a joint attack on the house tomorrow in conjunction with dh.

Bit more daily routine but still not finished due to grumpy baby
Lunch made

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 24/02/2017 13:50

Hello all. I think babies around 4-6 months or so start to get grumpy as they start to 'realise' there is more to life than being cuddled and fed. They want to move but can't do much and it is all frustrating for them. This is my armchair psychology anyway.

Hope you feel better soon Cag. Sounds as if your DH is looking after you well Smile. Purple, I have to ask about guinea pig medals Grin. Did you mean meals? I really hope you mean some kind of medal ceremony as that would be amazing Smile.

Still not getting much else done because of grumpy baby. I forgot how hard long days with grumpy babies are! He has been pretty laid back until now and this grumpy week has coincided with me still getting over a cold, dh working late and me not having my glasses so having to wear contact lenses which are making my eyes so tired. Even more tired than they would be! I've been taking them out every now and again but my eyesight is so bad I can't do anything really.

foxessocks · 24/02/2017 15:07

Oh and sorry toostressy I did see you had commented on the glasses situation but forgot to reply! They said they could be up to 3 weeks Shock but hopefully more like 10 days. I'm hoping end of next week at the latest as they've already had them a week. I'm really annoyed because I asked them how long I would be without glasses for as I knew I'd only have contacts and that it would be tricky and they said 3-5 days. But when I phoned to check they said they wouldn't have said that. But I'm sure they did. Unless I really am losing the plot. I wouldn't have sent them off otherwise I wish have just paid more for new frames. (I'm getting old glasses reglazed) . Sorry I'm probably not making much sense!

PurpleDaisies · 24/02/2017 17:31

Guinea pig medals!!! What a wally I am. That should be meds (one is on a few at the moment). I am now thinking about what sort of medals they could earn themselves though. Fastest eater, loudest squeaker, fattest piggy, most synchronised running train across the kitchen... Grin

I've dropped one lot of forms off and picked up another. I've also picked up a new top and dress for work having realised that if I see the same people five days a week I don't have enough smart clothes. Still need to do some crochet and put the washing in.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 24/02/2017 18:15

Ta da:-
DDs tea
Enough left to reheat for DH and me later
Dishwasher on
DDs in bath
Tidied away some lego
2 min declutter

To do:-
DDs want to do play doh (so I bribed them with having an early bath)
Bedtime
Evening routine
Laundry
5 min declutter

Also ugh DH going to do home bleugh and I need to go out and do food shop (was not organised enough to book online shopping slot) as we have people visiting tomorrow for DDs party.

Hi everyone

Can you tell I am on my half term holidays? So much more energy than when I am working. I have been very busy this week. The main ta-das:

*taking off manky black mould infested sealant and putting fresh sealant on around the bath and basin - all by myself (never done it before)
*cleaning utility room thoroughly (ugh - it was a state)
*venturing into the downstairs loo which I never use to clean it - gloves, mask and plenty of bleach (I am not a fan of bleach but needs must)
*lots of cooking lovely food for the family
*whole house looks neat, tidy and clean
*treated myself to manicure and hair cut and an m and s dinner tonight for all my hard work.

zoo and foxes, we sound similar, terrible eyesight without glasses. I must get a spare pair actually. They are just so expensive aren't they? You really have my sympathy foxes. I take it they can't give you a temporary pair? Pull on the heart strings a bit by saying you have a baby and a young child plus they are taking much longer than they said they would??! Plus you can say you are worried about eye health.

Fooland,Star for productivity- amazing list! Purple, I wear a uniform most days for work thank goodness but really struggle with having enough smart clothes when I have to wear them.

Waves to Cag and Afresh

Ta da:-
Decluttering: uncovered loads of greetings cards including a bunch of Xmas cards. Had bought a box of cards in bulk months ago with a view to selling them (private trader, work from home thing). Never did anything about it and the box was just sitting making me feel guilty. Realised they had said you can use the cards for personal use so have unpacked them and there are so many Smile. So it wasn't a complete waste of money by any means as I now have a good stash of cards plus I have a load of Xmas cards ready now Grin.

DD2's party tomorrow. I haven't done a full before bed routine as went out to shop to get food and back late (sadly I now view that as a fun Friday night out and time to myself BlushGrin) but it is 11pm and bedtime. Night all.

CotswoldStrife · 24/02/2017 23:21

Friday took it's sweet time getting here this week Hmm

Still suffering with a cold here, did a bit this morning (ironing, laundry, washing up) but motivation faded fast in the afternoon Blush Will have an early night and hope for better tomorrow.

Afreshstartplease · 25/02/2017 07:37

I am back to work in about six weeks. Before I found out I was pregnant I bought new work trousers, but then discovered I couldn't fasten them. I wonder if I can now fasten them? I hope so. I might get them out later and hope it's not too depressing! I have been loosing weight but I'm not really sure where from!

Everywhere is a ruddy tip this morning

Ta Da

One brew drank
Dryer on
Sink filled
Baby fed

MercuryRising · 25/02/2017 07:50

I have been awol as I work Wednesday to Friday and I had parents evenings on Wednesday and Thursday so didn't get home until late.

Foxes have you heard of the wonderweeks app? It gives you an idea of when your baby is making developmental leaps and how this will effect their mood. I found it to be quite accurate.

Yesterday we got up late so the house was left in complete disarray. After work I washed up and stuck a load in the wm and one in the dryer but I have lots to do today to get the house back to some sort of order. Ds2 has had a temperature since yesterday evening so I'm not sure how much I will actually get done Hmm

Afreshstartplease · 25/02/2017 08:38

Going to try to post my lists often today in hope of motivating myself

Ta Da

Two brews drank
Dryer on
Sink filled
Baby fed,changed and napping
Last nights take away mess cleared up
Older three fed and table cleaned afterwards

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 25/02/2017 09:12

Morning all. Busy day today as DD2's party later and people coming for lunch before that. I have about half an hour before my parents arrive and it all starts!!

Ta da:-
All up and dressed of a fashion
Breakfast eaten
Dishwasher done

To do:-
List is too long to write!!! Have a vague list of things to do.

Need to do DDs' teeth
DH out on errands so trying to get morning routine done before relatives arrive with party admin in between
Unfortunately got completely distracted by a thread on here about flexible working which is my holy grail so lost half an hour reading that. Must get on!!!

OP posts:
foxessocks · 25/02/2017 09:16

toostressy I really pleaded with them to speed things up or get something to tide me over but they had not solution. At least I do have my contact lenses I suppose. Just that I'm not used to wearing them so much and my eyes are feeling the strain. I've had a lie in this morning so only just put them in which is helpful!

*Mercury" I've heard of wonder weeks but didn't know there was an app, thanks. Something is definitely up with him as he is waking like clockwork 4 times a night at the moment and he is really really hungry every time so must be something he needs extra milk for!

To do
Some photo album
Mop bathroom floor
Ironing
Daily routine

Cagliostro · 25/02/2017 09:30

Hope the party goes well stressy

Ugh feel like crap today but luckily DH is now off work for a week so the pressure is off.

Lots of home ed stuff we need to get done though this week - including final plans for the party I'm planning with a friend for world book day, and the last touches for the costumes for the same. And various other projects and group work things.

I forgot to mention we just celebrated 2 years of home ed. 2 years! Shock

House is a tip as well obviously.

Afreshstartplease · 25/02/2017 09:31

Oh bollocks I forgot world book day when is it

Cagliostro · 25/02/2017 09:31

I was hoping that in this week off we would get loads of house stuff done! But with being ill and having a few trips planned I'm not sure how much time there will be. Hmm
