Fledglings flapping and flying in February - the Flylady thread

Hello all and welcome to the February Flylady thread! Welcome to all current posters and also to any returners plus of course anyone who would like to join. The more the merrier.

We are a friendly group who (sort of) follow the Flylady system in hopes of a more organised home and life. Some of us manage that better than others Smile.

It's my first time running this thread so here we go with links... Please if anything is wrong feel free to correct me. Hopefully it will all go swimmingly this month but I apologise in advance for anything not slick! I'm starting a day early as have work tomorrow and I am slow at this but will try to stay on the old thread until tomorrow. Thanks so much for doing the December and January threads Cotsowold.

We are in zone 5 for the first few days of the month.

Flylady advises decluttering for 15 mins a day. I tend to manage 5 but I know lots of people have great results with 15.

I can't figure out how to post the individual missions (I will get better, I hope!) so as a treat here is the sneak peak for the rest of the week which has all the missions www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions

Feb 1st's mission is to clean our vents!!

If you have already decluttered then you could start some detailed cleaning www.flylady.net/d/zones/detailed-cleaning-zone-5/

For a summary of what's going on, go to www.flylady.net/c/lp.php or just follow this thread Smile. Sometimes the Flylady website takes a little while to catch up on a new month.

Newbies, welcome, have a look around the Flylady website - it can sometimes be a bit disorganised. Unless you want to, beware of signing up for her emails - there are hundreds and all the info is on the website anyway. Here is the getting started link [[http://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

I'll post the baby step and Wednesday's daily focus next.

stressy aww your DD sounds so cute, mine loves going to a cafe too!

DD has been such a grump today. I think the excitement of her party and her birthday have taken it out of her! My mum has been over this afternoon and she did cheer up a bit but now she has gone she just wants to watch Frozen , she looks like she's going to fall asleep in front of it bless her.

Ta das
Daily routine finished
Rung opticians unfortunately the answer was my glasses have been delayed which means I only have contact lenses and my eyes are getting seriously tired Sad
Booked one of my appointments

Need to crack on really but might just have a quick cuppa and watch some Frozen too Smile

What a week!

Cagliostro · 23/02/2017 17:28

Absolutely shattered after trip to Ikea! Was worth it for the meatballs though :o and got the folding gym mat I've been wanting for DD. She's been on it since we got home.

foxessocks · 23/02/2017 21:27

Quiet on here tonight! Cag I haven't been to IKEA for years, I quite fancy a trip but have nothing I need from there...

Ta das
Kitchen and downstairs toilet floors mopped
Dinner made and kitchen tidied
Living room tidied
DD bedroom tidied
Some photo album done
Meal plan for next week done

DS was grumpy this afternoon / evening so didn't get round to decluttering the cupboard in the bedroom that I wanted to. I was hoping to find a pair of old glasses but I'll do it tomorrow instead. And I still didn't make my dentist appointment oops.

PurpleDaisies · 23/02/2017 21:31

I absolutely crashed when I got home. I managed a bit of crochet and then fell asleep. Not so much cleaning and sorting done but it was very nice!

foxes I went to Ikea last week-definitely recommended if you need storage furniture or just boxes etc to sort things into. I love the meatballs and daim cake as well. Most people normally come home with a totally random selection of stuff.

foxessocks · 23/02/2017 21:46

Oohpurple that has reminded me I do need some storage boxes for some of dds toys ... Maybe I can justify a trip to ikea next week!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 23/02/2017 21:48

Well we had a nice day but misguidedly took the girls out for tea after a day at nursery / after school club and it was just not the most relaxing experience and bedtime was a bit miserable. Lesson learnt not to do that again any time soon! I am also shattered and am about to collapse in the naughty corner.

Cag, glad you had a good ikea trip and ate meatballs. foxes, as someone with poor eyesight you have my sympathies with no glasses. Have they said how long they'll be? Purple, I'm not surprised you are tired! Have a well-deserved rest!

Big wing flaps to all.

Here is the daily summary for Friday...

All information also available on the Flylady website www.flylady.net. The

flight plan
should update every day.

We are in Zone 4 this week: the master bedroom and en-suite if applicable

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 4 is here

Spend 15 mins (or what you can manage) decluttering in Zone 4.

The mission for today is: today is window washing day! Clean all the windows in your Master Bedroom and if you have one in your bathroom clean that one too. Make sure to wipe the window sill and the frame.

The daily focus for Friday is: declutter your handbag and car/date night

The monthly habit for February is to declutter for 15 mins a day which is a brilliant habit!

Daily reminders:
reminders

The monthly habit for February is to declutter for 15 mins a day which is a brilliant habit!

Baby-step no 24 - swish and swipe your bathroom

Flykids challenge: it is time for the Kid Challenge of the Day! Today I want you to go into the bathroom that you use and help by picking up towels and dirty clothes on the floor and place them in the hamper or take them to the laundry room. This is a good thing to do to help your parents out.
This will only take two minutes. Set your timer and ready set go!

Happy flying!

Aw sounds lovely stressy Cafe idea is so sweet. My DD is getting into Lego now too and starting to like crafty things as long as it involves glue and mess it seems! Grin

Long day at work and had to pop out this evening so no progress on the decluttering, boo! But DH dropped off two bags of charity stuff and evening routine done between us so

You've done loads today foxes I'm impressed!

Everyone love IKEA meatballs Cag, I need to try them next time I go! Not got one anywhere near us so is a rare occasion I go there, love a good IKEA browse!

Yep Afresh the Kettle Pile always comes back! Mine hasn't been fully cleared for weeks now, it's like some kind of unstoppable force!

I'm at work tomorrow and then away for the weekend with a friend so mission declutter starts again on Monday.

Some goals for next week atm are...

Finish kitchen declutter mission, am so close now!
Sort out Kettle Pile of Doom (only for it to reappear within 24 hours Wink)
Make appointment for smear test as now v overdue Blush
Start sorting out shelves/cupboard in hallway.

Not gonna set too much as work seems to drain my momentum as the week goes on. Baby steps!

Have a good weekend all!

Cagliostro · 23/02/2017 21:58

I have properly overdone it today and can't even summon the energy to scoff the takeaway I ordered. Feel really shit TBH. Think I'm finally succumbing to a cold as I had a scratchy throat and weird sore mouth that I always get last night. I struggle in the cold too so the epic gales didn't help either! Bed is calling but I haven't even sent the Caglets to sleep yet Blush. They're watching horrible histories and I'm curled up sipping a smoothie and feeling immensely sorry for myself.

I was really tempted by lots of the storage stuff but we are holding out until we get housed as we will need to furnish most of it anyway (due to so much of our stuff being broken/non existent) so will do a big ikea order then.

I am happy though that DD has got her gym mat and my friend noticed a little set of whiteboard pens that clip into a board rubber - perfect for me as I use whiteboards all the time with the Caglets and with all my maths pupils and I'm always scrabbling around for the pens that actually work, and getting through loads of kitchen roll to clean it. Yay!

BluePheasant · 23/02/2017 22:14

Oh whoops cross post with stressy, yes going out on a nursery day always ends in tears here too, similar experience here tonight and we only popped to BILs house for half an hour! My SIL wants to get everyone out for a bday tea for her DD who be 8 and of course it's on a work/nursery day for us and I'm really not keen. The earliest it could be is 6.30pm as everyone else works to various times. She doesn't work so don't think it occurs to her it's so simple for the rest of us. Just keeping quiet for now and hoping the pent drops, everyone else seems to be doing the same!

BluePheasant · 23/02/2017 22:14

*penny

BluePheasant · 23/02/2017 22:18

Just looked at that gym mat Cag DD would love that for doing forward rolls on Smile
We have a couple of the Trofast storage units, really good for toys. They are pretty sturdy.

CotswoldStrife · 23/02/2017 22:53

Wow, there's a lot happening on here in the last couple of days - belated birthday wishes to the mini-fledglings and congrats on the new job purple

I had my car booked in for a service today, they said over the phone it would take about 2 hours - when I got there they said 3, so including travelling time it was more like 4 hours out of the house. I just had time to eat lunch when I got home and it was almost school pick up time again Sad

Should be OK tomorrow though, so will catch up with the thread, I mean the housework, then Hmm

foxessocks · 24/02/2017 10:45

I have also bought storage box for duplo this morning. I found a really cheap one in Asda which means I now have no excuse to go all the way to IKEA. I'm trying to think of something else I might need but can't! I can't really justify just going for the cafe can I?!

Ta das
Got storage box for duplo (now to locate it all and put it all away)
Got some other bits that were on my list
Picked up parcel
Emptied and reloaded dishwasher
Took the rubbish out

Just sitting down for a cup of tea and slice of birthday cake (I'm seriously going to turn into a cake soon) before I have to pick dd up from nursery. DS snoozing on my lap. He has been so grumpy the last few days. He is six months does something happen at six months?! I keep feeling for teeth but nothing. He isn't impressed with solid food so maybe he has the hump that we keep giving him things he isn't interested in?!

Anyway I'm just waffling now Grin

Afreshstartplease · 24/02/2017 11:01

I think babies go a bit grumpy and stuff when they're in the process of or about to learn a new skill foxes Is he crawling or sitting yet?

foxessocks · 24/02/2017 11:11

afresh that could be it. He is just starting to sit up by himself for a few minutes at a time before he topples. He can't roll over yet though! I think he wants to do it all and is frustrated.

Afreshstartplease · 24/02/2017 11:16

Ds can turn onto his side. That's about it though lol. Two of my older children crawled by six months. I don't think he's one of those babies.
